Chapter 11

Lucius and Rodolphus walk back inside, holding hands.

Harden: "Love, I think they are together."

Abraxas: "I think so too. They're good for each other."

Lucius: "Rod, tell me everything you felt giving birth."

Rodolphus chuckles. "Well, I remember that night clearly."

Rodolphus woke up with sharp pains in his back, rolling over to wake Lucius up to rub his back again.

Lucius blinks. "Rod, what's wrong?"

Rod: "Back hurts," he mumbles.

Lucius rubs it for him. "Better?"

Rod nods. "Yeah." He rolls back over to sleep, not understanding what the pains meant. Having them all night, he woke up with a groan, sitting up and rubbing his eyes, unable to shake the tiredness running through him.

Lucius wakes. "Rod, what's the matter?"

Rod: "Nothing, just tired," he frowns before jumping when a pain wrapped around his belly, taking his breath away.

Lucius frowns. "Rodolphus, what are you feeling?"

Rodolphus: "I'm fine. Let's go to breakfast, please."

They walk to breakfast. Rodolphus mumbles a high, sitting down.

Rabastan looks at him. "Rodolphus, you look rough. How did you sleep?"

Rodolphus: "I'm fine."

Rab looks to Lucius, then his parents. Rab and Rod's parents look worried.

"Rodolphus, are you sure you're okay?"

Rodolphus snaps. "I'm fine! Leave me alone." He gets up, not caring, and goes back to his room.

Lucius follows him. "Rod, they're worried."

Rodolphus: "I don't care. They're annoying me." He grunts as another pain wraps around his middle. "Ugh, this hurts," he cries.

Lucius: "I think you might be in labor. We need to tell your parents, Rod."

Rodolphus: "No, I'm fine."

Lucius frowns. "Rodolphus, okay, let's go rest, shall we?"

Rodolphus nods.

They go rest until lunch, with the contractions getting worse as the day goes by.

Walking to the dining room, taking their seats, Rodolphus huffs, annoyed with the stares, refusing to cry. "Leave me alone, for God's sake."

His brother and parents look away.

Rod eats until a pain wraps around him, making him huff and grab Lucius's hand for comfort.

Lucius looks at him, worried.

Rab: "Rodolphus, what was that?"

Rodolphus: "Nothing."

He looks to Lucius as Lucius shrugs, not bothering until Rodolphus is ready to tell.

Rodolphus gasps as the pain comes back more violently. He leans forward. "Oh God," he mumbles.

Their parents: "Rodolphus, was that a contraction? How long have you been having them?"

Rodolphus: "Since last night," he mutters.

Lucius holds his hand.

Rod smiles at him. "I'm gonna go lay down." He goes to get up before being racked with another contraction.

He holds Lucius as they walk to the bedroom.

Rodolphus stops as he feels wetness on his pants and robe. He mumbles, "Water broke. Oh God, no."

Lucius: "Breathe with me. I've got you."

By the time night came, Rodolphus was so fed up with pain, he glared at Rabastan and yanked his wand out. Rab flees. Rodolphus looks confused before a contraction came.

The healer his parents sent for says, "It's time to push. So push."

Rodolphus grunts and pushes, screaming in pain. "Agh, stop! I gotta stop. Hurts so much."

Lucius mumbles sweet things to Rodolphus to keep him going.

Rodolphus pushes again and a baby's cry is heard. He falls back and cries with her. "Emmy," he says. "I love you."
