Chapter 41: Frightingale
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. This one was a little difficult figuring out all the rhyming but I think it turned out really well and I saw many of your reviews about Gorizilla, hopefully, this makes up for it. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
At Marinette's house, Marinette was watching the latest video of Clara Nightingale's song.
"Wow she's good." Tikki said.
"I love her, she's totally passionate about her work." Marinette said.
"Clara, in just a few short months you've risen to the top of the music charts with your unique singing and style. Apparently, you even sing and dance in your sleep, do you ever stop?" Alec asks.
"Never, you see dancing and singing are everything to me and I'm happy to share the gift of song and dance with the amazing people of France." Clara said.
"You see that Tikki? She's a true artist." Marinette said.
"You've come to Paris to record your new song which is gonna be Miraculous." Alec read surprising Marinette.
"I really admire Ladybug, Silver Claw and Cat Noir. An homage to them I wanted to pay because they inspire me every single day." Clara declares causing Marinette to scream with joy.
"She's writing a song about me! I mean Ladybug!" Marinette said.
"Now a little birdy told me you already have your Cat Noir, care to tell me who?" Alec asks.
"My lips are sealed but soon he'll be revealed. I still need a Ladybug, Silver Claw and extras so come on out and audition today." Clara said as Marinette's phone rang revealing her friends were going to the audition.
"You better not be trying out for the role of Ladybug." Tikki said.
"Of course not, we just want to be extras. I'd never do anything to reveal my secret identity." Marinette said.
"I'm proud of you, Marinette." Tikki said.
At Adrien's house, Adrien was standing in front of his father as Natalie handed Adrien a Cat Noir costume.
"It'll be an excellent promotion for our stores in Korea and China. You don't have a choice." Gabriel said.
"But father." Adrien said.
"I've been designing Clara's costumes since she started out. She was very pleased with my suggestion of using you. I'm hoping you won't let us down." Gabriel said.
"Understood. Can I at least bring a friend with me?" Adrien asks.
"I suppose." Gabriel nods.
At the auditions, Sam and Adrien were walking in.
"Wow, so your dad basically forced you into this?" Sam asks.
"Pretty much. Thanks for coming." Adrien said.
"No problem, I wish I could help you out." Sam said.
"Not unless you wanna be Cat Noir." Adrien smirks.
"Thanks but he and I don't exactly look the same." Sam chuckles.
"Adrien there you are." Clara said walking over. "We already have a line outside, this show is gonna blow their minds."
"I bet. This is my friend Sam." Adrien introduced.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Clara. I love your music." Sam smiles.
"I make my music for people like you but unfortunately we seem to be having some microphone troubles stopping the dream from coming true." Clara said.
"Hmm let me have a look at it." Sam said walking over and examining the wires and cords. "Here's the problem." Sam switches the cords around. "Try now."
Clara touched it and it made an echo causing her to smile. "Tell me Sam are you an extra?"
"No I'm here to help my buddy Adrien." Sam said.
"Helping Adrien and then helping me. You're a hero as far as I can see. Would you like to be Silver Claw in my video?" Clara asks surprising him.
"What?" Sam asks.
"You help people just like Silver Claw would." Clara said.
"Please Sam, I could really use your help with this." Adrien begs.
Sam gulps remembering he did say he wished he could help him but this really isn't what he wanted. Looking at Adrien and Clara he saw their eyes full of hope and he just couldn't say no.
"Alright." Sam sighs.
In his trailer, Adrien was in the Cat Noir costume wearing everything but the mask.
"Wow the costume is amazing." Plagg said.
"There's no way I can wear this." Adrien said.
"Yeah I always thought that bell was ridiculous." Plagg said.
"No Plagg, if they see me in this everyone will realize I'm the real Cat Noir." Adrien said.
"No way people are blind." Plagg said.
"I can't go out like this." Adrien said hiding the mask before walking out.
Soon Sam was in the trailer wearing the Silver Claw costume except for the mask.
"Oh man why couldn't I say no?" Sam asks.
"Sam what are we going to do?" Faang asks.
"I don't know Faang, but I can't go out looking like this." Sam said.
"Just try acting so bad they have no choice but to replace you." Faang suggests.
"That work, but still." Sam took the mask and hid it.
Walking out Sam saw Adrien waiting for him.
"Wow. You really fit that costume well." Adrien said.
"Thanks." Sam said.
"Look I know you didn't want to do this, but you're a good friend for helping me through this Sam." Adrien said.
"Thanks Adrien, looks we're both gonna suffer through this." Sam said.
Looking out they saw Clara on stage with two huge lines for Ladybug and for extras.
"Welcome all of you, this is like a dream come true. Together we'll all dance and sing it's gonna be amazing." Clara said.
"We're gonna be in Clara Nightingale's video." Alya smiles
"This is a dream come true." Marinette said.
"And now our rising stars Silver Claw and Adrien as Cat Noir." Clara said as Sam and Adrien walked out.
When Alya noticed Sam a nervous look appeared on her face.
'Sam got the role of Silver Claw? Oh man this is not good.' Alya thought as Sam and Adrien walked up to Natalie who was holding a tablet with Gabriel on it.
"The costume fits you like a glove, but where is your mask?" Gabriel asks.
"I couldn't find it." Adrien said.
"Yeah me neither." Sam said.
"I'm on it." The manager said running off to the trailer.
"That's okay we don't need the mask for tryouts anyway. Come on." Clara said as Sam and Adrien stood on stage for the people trying out for Ladybug and needless to say none of them stood out.
Soon Clara looks to see there were no more people left to tryout for Ladybug when she suddenly got an idea.
"You must be starving from all this waiting." Clara said grabbing a plate of food and walking over to the extras.
"She's coming in our direction." Marinette said when Clara pretends to trip over her own shoes and fall.
Going over the rope Marinette walks over and helps her up.
"There you are. Here's a hug because you are Ladybug." Clara said giving Marinette a hug.
"What?! No I'm not." Marinette said.
"You did what Ladybug would have, just the same. Your heart is pure like hers. What's your name?" Clara asks.
"Marinette."
"Marinette say it so will you please play Ladybug in my video?" Clara asks.
"Yes! She'd be awesome!" Alya said.
"Go Marinette!" Rose cheers.
Marinette looks on stage and got lost imagining herself on stage with Adrien but when she looks down towards her purse she could see Tikki watching her.
"That's so nice of you and I'm one of your hugest fans but I came to be an extra with my friends and I can't ditch them." Marinette said causing Clara to smile.
"That's a pity a shame but I understand it's true. A very cool gesture, very Ladybug of you." Clara said bringing Marinette to the chairs. "Just wait here for makeup okay? I'll ask your friends to be sent over right away."
"Thank you." Marientte said as she walked away.
"I'm proud of you Marinette. You didn't give into temptation." Tikki said before hiding as Alya, Mylene, Rose, Juleka and Alix hugged her in thanks.
Up on stage, Sam was looking to Adrien. "So what do we do now? We're out of Ladybugs." Sam said.
"Guess we have to wait for someone else to walk in." Adrien shrugs when Chloe walked in wearing an outfit that perfectly mimicked Ladybug.
"Oh god." Sam cringed.
"Thank you all for coming you can go home now." Chloe said.
"Heads up, brat alert." Alya said.
"Please, knowing Nightingale Chloe doesn't stand a chance." Marinette said.
"Wow, where did all this confidence come from?" Alya asks as all of them laugh when she felt something moving in her pocket. "Uh hang on girls, gonna grab some water."
Walking behind the trailer Alya opens her pocket and lets Trixx out.
"Phew thanks for letting me out." Trixx said.
"Trixx you gotta be careful there are a lot of people." Alya warns.
"Come on Alya, it's the one day a week we get to hang out. Why don't we go Rena Rouge and join Sam on stage?" Trixx asks.
"Trust me that would be awesome but I can't blow my friends off." Alya said.
"I can respect that." Trixx said going back into her pocket.
"Your Ladybug has arrived." Chloe said walking up to Clara. "So when does the show begin?"
"You have to audition first." Sam said.
"He's right Chloe, everyone has to." Adrien said.
"Oh right, that little formaility." Chloe said before moving around stage mimicking moves that nearly matched the real Ladybug.
"When did Chloe learn moves like that?" Sam asks surprised as the crowd burst into cheers.
"It's been a while. 8 years of private lessons from Aurlie Dupont from the Paris Opera. I know I'm breathtaking." Chloe brags.
"Well you definitely have enough talent for me, but you also need to have a connection with our Cat Noir and Silver Claw." Clara said.
"No problem Adrikins and I have been friends since we were little." Chloe said hugging Adrien.
"Sorry dude can't help you with this one." Sam said stepping away.
"The son of the world's greatest fashion designer and the daughter of the Mayor of Paris. That would be just perfect." Mayor Bourgeois said causing Marinette to growl.
"There a problem?" Alya asks.
"Chloe playing Ladybug? No way, not gonna happen." Marinette said.
"That bothers you more than not being in the video with Adrien?" Alya asks.
"I uh mean if I were Ladybug I wouldn't want a brat like Chloe playing me." Marinette said.
"Hmm what do you think Gabriel?" Clara asks looking to the tablet.
"Artistically speaking the girl with ponytails would have been the ideal choice, but it's time to start filming. We'll make do with Ms. Bourgeois." Gabriel said.
"I trust you Gabriel." Clara said causing Chloe to cheer.
"Did you hear that Adrikins? We're gonna be in a music video together. Or should I say Adri-Cat? Get it?" She teases.
"Adri-Cat. Yeah." Adrien cringed.
"Wait!" Marinette said walking on stage. "I change my mind. I do want to be Ladybug." Marinette declared shocking Tikki.
"Awesome! This will be the best video yet. Thank you thank you Marinette." Clara said before turning to Chloe. "I'm very sorry what's your name but you can still be an extra in the video if you're game."
"Me? Be nothing more than a simple extra?! Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!" Chloe said storming out.
When she got to the car, Chloe growls in anger before realizing something.
As Marinette went to change, Sam walked over to Alya.
"Sam what are you doing? You can't be playing Silver Claw." Alya said.
"I didn't have a choice. I helped Clara and she offered me the spot not to mention Adrien asked me as well. I couldn't say no." Sam said.
"But what if they ask you to wear a mask?" Alya asks.
"I don't know alright, frankly I'm just hoping they'll replace me." Sam said.
"At least they don't need a Rena Rouge." Alya said.
"Yeah but Adrien has been acting really weird about this whole thing." Sam said.
"What do you mean?" Alya asks.
"I mean I know his dad asked him to do this but this time he really doesn't want to be here. He's not even acting like himself. Before when his dad asks him to do things, he's fine with it but today he's acting like he wants to get out before something happens…like me." Sam pauses.
"What are you getting at?" Alya asks.
"I think…there's another reason Adrien's not acting like himself." Sam said getting suspicious.
"Oh my god is my boyfriend sounding like a reporter?" Alya asks.
"Maybe." Sam said.
"Not gonna lie a reporter/ superhero couple sounds pretty cool." Alya said.
In the trailer, Marinette was putting on the costume, but just like Sam and Adrien she couldn't bring herself to put on the mask.
"This is amazing craftsmanship, almost like the real thing." Tikki said.
"Yeah, it's too well done. Oh Tikki I messed up big time. If I walk out in this mask everyone will realize it's really me." Marinette said when she heard a knock at the door.
"You ready Marinette?"
"Uh yeah I'll be right there." Marinette said hiding the mask in the same area Adrien and Sam hid their masks.
As Marinette made her way on stage, Clara put her next to Sam and Adrien.
"Spot on and spotlight. So you three are Ladybug, Silver Claw and Cat Noir, right?" Clara asks.
"No! I mean…yes." Adrien and Marinette said nervously.
'Wait Marinette too?' Sam thought.
Outside, Chloe was pushing her father towards the door.
"But Chloe we got stop them in the middle of production." Mayor Bourgeois said.
"I'm going to call mom and tell her all my dreams have been crushed." Chloe said causing him to gasp.
"There's no reason to involve our beloved Queen with such small matters, Princess." Mayor Bourgeois said stopping her.
On stage, Clara was running Sam, Adrien and Marinette through the dance moves.
"Silver Claw's a lone wolf so that's fine but you two need to synchronize." Clara said looking at Adrien and Marinette. "Try holding hands."
Adrien and Marinette look to each other and hold hands as if to shake causing Clara to laugh.
"Not like that, don't be shy like lovers do. Give it a try." Clara said fixing them.
"Oh man." Sam chuckles starting to enjoy this.
"Marinette is gonna drop her jaw when she sees this." Alya said taking a picture of this.
"I can't believe how much they look like the real Ladybug and Cat Noir." Rose smiles.
'If all their attention is on them no one will notice Sam.' Alya thought hopefully.
"Now one final task, put on the mask." Clara said causing the 3 of them cringe.
"Uh I couldn't find the mask anywhere." The three of them said nervously causing everyone to laugh.
"They don't look a thing like the real ones now." Alya said.
"It's okay! I found them!" The manager said coming over with the three masks.
"Come on you three, we have a show to complete." Clara said as all three of them gulped realizing that if they put those masks on, they would be figured out.
Slowly they were about to put the masks on when suddenly Chloe and her dad carrying a large stack of papers walked in.
"I'm sorry, but my administrative staff just brought to my attention that you never submitted permits that allow you to us e this sight for the month of August and by breaking the restrictions of your contract you aren't not allowed to complete this show anywhere in France which includes Paris." Mayor Bourgeois said handing the stacks of papers to Clara.
"I-I don't understand." Clara said.
"It means no more singing, no more dancing today. The Nightingale can spread her wings and fly away." Chloe said tossing Clara's mic out of her hands.
"No!" Clara gasps running to get it.
"Look at that, made a rhyme. How talented am I?" Chloe laughs.
"No, the video needs to shot here in Paris. The capitol of love and home to Ladybug, Cat Noir and Silver Claw. I'm so sorry my beloved fans." Clara said running to the trailer to cry.
At his base, Hawk Moth saw the whole thing.
"Ah tears of disenchantment. Such sweet music to my ears." Hawk Moth said turning a butterfly into an akuma. "Fly away my little akuma and evilise her."
Flying into the trailer, the akuma entered Clara's mic.
"Frightingale, I am Hawk Moth. So they tried to silence you? With the power I'm giving you there will be nothing but song and dance." Hawk Moth said telepathically.
"Yes Hawk Moth, thank you for making this dream come true." Clara said as she transformed.
Outside, Chloe was clapping her hands to get everyone's attention.
"Show is over, you all have to leave now." Chloe said when something hit Chloe and her father causing them to glow pink. Looking up they saw Frightingale who had long blonde hair in pony tails and a very colorful bodysuit.
"Sing, dance and rhyme or you'll be frozen in no time!" Frightingale declared as Sam, Adrien and Marinette left the changing rooms to see everyone look in shock.
"What is she talking about? Dancing and making rhymes? And why not play the trumpet too, while you're at it." Chloe said as she ended up turning into a pink statue.
"Chloe! Please, please I'll keep up this rhyme just don't freeze me not this time." Mayor Bourgeois said nervously.
"Oh bravo and you got the right tempo." Frightingale said as she flicked her whip turning them into pink statues while everyone else ran in fear.
Gasping Marinette ran into the trailer. "Time to transform. Tikki, spots on!" Marinette said as her earrings glowed and she changed into Ladybug.
Adrien runs to a secluded spot and took out Plagg. "Ready to vocalize? Plagg, claws out!" Adrien said as his ring glowed and he transformed into Cat Noir.
Under the stage Sam and Alya crawled under before letting out Faang and Trixx.
"I might need a backup singer for this battle." Sam said.
"You got it." Alya nods.
"Faang, Teeth out!" Sam said as his bracelet glowed and he transformed into Silver Claw.
"Trixx, let's pounce!" Alya said as her necklace glowed and she changed into Rena Rouge.
Up atop the Grand Palais, Frightingale was whipping everyone in sight.
"Sing, dance or rhyme or you'll be frozen in no time." Frightingale said.
From behind Ladybug throws her yoyo grabbing Frightingale's wrist.
"I thought you were a fan of us heroes Nightingale. You should know we fight villains." Ladybug said.
"I'm Frightningale from here on out forever and ever, there's no doubt! And if you stand in my way, there'll be a price to pay!" Frightingale said breaking free and going on the attack.
"You have to come 'round! Don't let negative emotions take you over!" Ladybug said throwing her yoyo but Frightingale caught it.
"Song and dance will make the world a better place. Don't agree with me? Ha! Then you're a disgrace!" Frightingale said trying to hit Ladybug with her own yoyo but Ladybug jumps off the roof and onto the ground giving her control of her weapon again.
"I can help you if you give me your akuma." Ladybug said.
"I won't let you take my akuma away. I like the new me and I'm here to stay." Ladybug charged towards Ladybug when Cat Noir's staff moved in and trapped her.
Turning around they saw Cat Noir, Silver Claw and Rena Rouge ready to fight.
"Mind if we join in?" Cat Noir asks.
"Sorry girl but this song and dance number is over." Rena Rouge said running in forcing Frightingale to jump onto the roof to dodge.
"You're like all the others; but you can't silence me! I'm just trying to make the world better, can't you see?" Frightingale asks.
"Better? Everyone is a statue! How is that better?" Silver Claw asks.
"Strike them, Frightningale! It'll be easier for you to overpower them if they're forced to sing and dance! Then no one will be able to stop you from accomplishing your dream. Now's your chance." Hawk Moth orders.
"Do you really think the four of you can win this battle through and through?" Frightingale asks.
"Why not? We've done it before." Rena Rouge said.
"Rena Rouge and I will take the left." Ladybug said.
"We're on it!" Cat Noir said as he and Silver Claw charged from the right.
Drawing their weapons Ladybug and Cat Noir swing their yoyo and staff but Frightingale dodges causing them to get tied up while Silver Claw and Rena Rouge swing their sword and flute but Frightingale dodges knocking the four of them into a group before swinging her whip causing them all to glow pink.
"Welcome to my musical show. I hope it will be your fatal blow!" Frightingale declared before laughing.
Cat Noir was about to charge when Ladybug stops him. "Wait. Stay here and dance or you'll be frozen…uh without a chance." Ladybug said as the four heroes started moving their bodies.
"Oh man I really hate this attack…uh how are we supposed to fight back?" Rena Rouge asks.
"Yeah, you're right we have to rhyme. Not so easy…uh all the time." Cat Noir said.
"We have to be creative and think of a way, I can't do this all day." Silver Claw said.
"Nice work. Ladybug, Cat Noir, Silver Claw and Rena Rouge cannot fight back! They're too busy singing and dancing while we're on the attack. Now hurry, sweet Frightingale, it's both of their Miraculous sets that I lack." Hawk Moth said.
"Hawk Moth you bet. It's Miraculous you'll get!" Frigtingale said when Rena Rouge whacks her with her flute.
"You forget I use a flute. A musical weapon to deal with a musical brute." Rena Rouge smirks.
"Be careful Cat Noir, don't blow a fuse. Don't forget your dancing fight moves." Ladybug said.
"Dancing fight moves? Like my Capoeira grooves." Cat Noir said using the Brazilian dance fighting to keep Frightingale away.
Frightingale flicks her whip but Silver spins out of the way.
"It'll take more this to stop us. You really cause quite a fuss." Silver Claw said kicking Frightingale in the chest.
"Why is Cat Noir so dumb? He doesn't even know fifty plus fifty is a sum." Frightingale baits.
"Yes I do, the dummy is you. It's—"
"Fifty plus fifty's a hundred and two!" Ladybug interrupts.
"Your math is crazy, check again Milady." Cat Noir said.
"No she's right, that word doesn't rhyme. You fall for that again and you're done for big time." Silver Claw said.
"I almost made a serious boo-boo, but I didn't thanks you." Cat Noir said as Frightingale attacks flipping her whip causing the four heroes to retreat back.
Falling back to the edge Frightingale flicks her whip forcing them jump off.
When Frightningale looks down she sees the four heroes but there were 3 copies of each of them that were dancing around the arena.
"You four think you're so clever, but you can't avoid me forever!" Frightingale said dealing with the copies not noticing the real ones were hiding behind a bus and still dancing.
"There is no better sabotage than using my Mirage." Rena Rouge said.
"Quick thinking Rena Rouge, the time they buy us will be huge." Cat Noir said.
"It's not in our favor at a glance because we constantly have to advance while keeping up this song and dance. We can leave nothing to chance." Ladybug said.
"Trust me Ladybug I agree, but other than us hiding what else do you see?" Silver Claw asks.
"Our last weapon can do her harm. It is my Lucky Charm!" Ladybug threw her yoyo into the air and two sets of handcuffs appeared.
As Frightingale finishes off the last of the illusions she sees them and smiles.
"What is this thrown our way? Handcuffs, I would say." Ladybug said.
"Well this blows, there's no way she'll let us get close." Silver Claw said as Ladybug looks around gets an idea.
"They're not meant for her; they're meant for us. Cat Noir, Silver Claw do your stuff." Ladybug said but Cat Noir frowns.
"Why the frown? What's got you so down?" Silver Claw asks.
"I can't find a rhyme. Can you guys help me this time?" Cat Noir asks.
"Cat Noir, you're a sweet-talker, rhymer, dancer and walker." Ladybug said.
"Look at the bright side today. Don't be pessimistic, and make way..." Rena Rouge hints.
"For optimism. Cataclysm!" Cat Noir said as his ring glowed and black energy filled his hand.
Grinning Ladybug handcuffed Silver Claw to Rena Rouge and herself to Cat Noir just as Frightingale lifts the bus only to gasp.
"You tried to knock us down, but we refuse to fall so have a taste of my Moon Call!" Silver Claw as his bracelet glowed and he released a sonic howl blowing Frightingale flying inside onto her stage.
"You can't bend the rules! Dancing tied up is cheating, fools!" Frightingale said standing up.
"When someone's akumatized we never compromise." Ladybug said.
"We work as one and do whatever it takes to get the job done." Silver Claw said.
"No mater the fight, we always do what's right." Rena Rouge said as they climbed on stage.
"You're feeling unsteady. You know you've lost already!" Cat Noir said.
Frightingale swings her whip trying to knock the duos away but by combining their dance moves and moving in sync they dodged every attack.
Frightingale tried to back away as Ladybug and Cat Noir moved in but she didn't see Silver Claw and Rena Rouge behind her.
Turning around both heroes punch Frightingale allowing Cat Noir to catch her whip destroying it and releasing the akuma.
Undoing the handcuffs Ladybug throws them into the air. "Miraculous Ladybug!" Undoing all the damage they could all talk normally now. "No more evil-doing for you, little akuma. Time to de-evilize!" Catching the akuma in her yoyo Ladybug turns it back into a butterfly. "Bye-Bye little butterfly."
And just like that Frightingale turns back into Clara.
"Pound it." The four heroes said fist bumping.
"Ladybug, Cat Noir, Silver Claw? What are you doing here?" Clara asks when she noticed Rena Rouge. "Hey I've seen you, that new hero Rena Rouge."
"Guilty as charged." Rena Rouge nods.
"You were akumatized by Hawk Moth but don't worry everything's fine now." Cat Noir said.
"I was saved by all of you?! This is amazing, too good to be true." Clara smiles.
"Also if you don't mind I have an idea for your video so you can finish it without anyone getting in your way." Ladybug said as she leaned in and whispered something causing Clara to smile.
At Sam's house, Sam and Alya were watching the new Miraculous Video and thanks to Ladybug's idea he didn't have to wear the Silver Claw outfit and instead wore a Rena Rouge Mask, Adrien wore a Ladybug mask, Marinette wore a Cat Noir mask and Alya wore a Silver Claw mask as they and quite a few of their friends were dancing in it wearing masks as well.
"Well this turned out a million times better than the original plan." Sam sighs.
"Tell me about it. You were this close to getting found out." Alya said emphasizing with her fingers.
"I know, I think I actually owe Chloe for this. If she didn't try the ruin the whole event people might have figured out my identity." Sam said looking at the Silver Claw and Rena Rouge masks on the counter.
"Chloe actually saved someone by being selfish who would have thought?" Alya smirks causing Sam to smile.
"Sometimes the world can be surprising like that." Sam laughs before remembering something. 'What was going on with Adrien and Marinette? They were total nervous wrecks and now that I think about it those costumes really had them resemble the real Ladybug and Cat Noir. I never noticed how similar they looked until today.' Sam thought when Alya walked over and put on the Rena Rouge mask.
"Be honest you think if they needed a Rena Rouge I would get the part?" Alya asks.
"Absolutely, Clara would have loved to have a beautiful girl like you as her hero." Sam smiles as Alya put the Silver Claw mask on him.
"Oh Silver Claw you are so right." Alya giggles before kissing him on the lips and Sam kisses back.
