Chapter 44: Anansi
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. I had to make quite a few changes to this one compared to the original but I think it worked out in the end. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
At Alya's house, Sam and Marinette were watching Nino and Alya do this new dancing game while Adrien was watching through video chat on her phone.
"Boy those two are really good." Adrien said.
"How come you're not trying?" Marinette asks.
"I did, I fell down after half a minute. I'm just not a good dancer." Sam sighs.
"They're so in sync with each other." Marinette said.
"Yeah I hope I'll find someone I can share everything with, but until my father starts letting me out for often that probably won't happen." Adrien sighs.
"Are you sure your dad won't let you come?" Marinette asks.
"You know how overprotective he is. One day he'll realize I'm not a child but we're not there yet." Adrien said.
"Big finish!" Nino said struck a funny pose causing everyone to laugh while Sam couldn't help but feel a little jealous.
"Oh shoot did I miss the ballet?" A female voice asks.
Looking to the door they saw a large muscular girl with tan skin and black hair in a yellow training outfit walk in. This was Nora, Alya's older sister.
"Nora? Is your match over already?" Alya asks.
"First round total knockout!" She said before moving in close. "I told you not to call me Nora in front of other people little sis. The name is Anansi, like the spider."
"Sure I'll call you that when you stop calling me little sis." Alya said.
"Anyway what are you all still doing here? Don't you have school tomorrow?" Nora asks taking off her helmet.
"We're waiting until it gets dark. We're going to watch the World Cup Fireworks show from the Place de la Concorde Ferris Wheel." Alya said.
"Oh no! Baguette, Cappy, and…ugh can go with cellphone boy but not you. It's way too dangerous." Nora said.
"Ugh?" Marinette asks looking to Sam.
"She doesn't think I'm good enough for Alya." Sam sighs.
"Seriously? You said her family loved you." Nino said.
"Yeah the entire family does, except her." Sam said.
"I appreciate you worrying about me but I'm not a little kid anymore. Besides Mom and dad are totally fine with it." Alya said.
"There have been way too many akumatized peeps in the last few weeks. You've gotten yourself in danger too many times." Nora said.
"But the twins got akumatized right here." Alya said.
"That wouldn't have happened if I was here. I won't let anyone mess with my family." Nora declared.
"You mean like yesterday at the square?" Alya asks.
"What happened?" Adrien asks.
"We saw a guy in a banana suit giving out flyers and she attacked him thinking he was gonna turn Alya into a banana zombie." Marinette said.
"How was I was supposed to know it was a stupid costume? What if the ferris wheel stops working because some akumatized loser didn't pay? You guys can't go until you learn to defend yourselves like me." Nora said.
"But Ladybug, Cat Noir and Silver Claw would rescue us." Marinette said.
"And what if Mr. Whiskers is chasing a mouse, dog breath is looking for a hydrant and that beetle's been sprayed with bug spray?" Nora asks.
"I can protect Alya." Sam declares.
"And how would you do that?" Nora smirks.
"You'd be surprised at the kind of things Sam can do." Alya defends.
"Alright I'll let you go if you can beat me in arm wrestling." Nora said sitting down.
"Please don't." Alya begs.
"Sam you cannot beat Anansi." Adrien said.
"She'll snap your arm like a twig." Nino warns.
"You think I don't know that?" Sam said sarcastically.
"Honestly Alya I never got what you saw in him." Nora said.
"Sorry but maybe we can work something out." Adrien suggests.
"We have to go or else we'll miss the fireworks." Marinette said.
"Just go guys forget about me." Alya sighs knowing her sister all too well.
"What? No way." Marinette said when she got an idea. "Ok, Sam will arm wrestle you."
"What?!" Sam and Alya gasp.
"Sam will prove his worth that he can defend Alya as her boyfriend and everyone one of us because—"
Before Marinette could finish Alya grabs her. "Marinette what are you doing?" She whispers.
"Don't worry." Marinette said before grabbing Sam's arm. "Because uh…because love and friendship will make your muscles bulge."
"Marinette are you sure about this?" Nino asks.
"Absolutely." Marinette said as Sam and Nora at down and locked arms.
"Alright in position. Ready…set…go!" Adrien said as Sam tried to push but he barely moved her an inch.
"Really?" Nora smirks.
"She's gonna break his arm." Alya groans not being able to look.
"Marinette what were you thinking?" Nino asks.
"Look over there! An Akuma!" Marinette points.
"What?!" Everyone looks over and Sam uses this to slam Nora's hand down on the table.
"And Sam wins!" Adrien announces.
"Oops my bad. It was just a fly." Marinette said.
"Dang Sam I didn't know you had it in you." Nino whistles impressed.
"I told you Sam." Marinette said.
"Cheaters!" Nora slams her fist down in anger. "If I hadn't been distracted no way this little wimp could have beaten me!"
"Alright that's it Nora! You lost the challenge deal with it! I am so tired of your overprotective smothering and putting my boyfriend down! I am going with them to the fireworks and I don't care what you think! Alya out!" Alya said gesturing for them to follow.
"Uh see you later Nora I mean Anansi." Marinette said as she, Sam and Nino left.
Growling Nora picks up her helmet.
At his base, Hawk Moth saw the whole thing.
"A big sister with the best of intentions, unappreciated and unwanted, ideal prey for my akumas." Hawk Moth said turning a butterfly into an akuma. "Fly away my little akuma and evilise her broken spirit."
In Nora's room, she was sitting on her bed holding her helmet.
"They don't understand. They have no idea of the dangers. They're so clueless." Nora said as the akuma flew in and entered her helmet.
"Anansi, I am Hawk Moth. They didn't want your support and protection. Well I'm giving you the power to show how dangerous the world really is. In return, you must defeat Ladybug, Cat Noir and Silver Claw and bring me their Miraculous." Hawk Moth said telepathically.
"Let the match begin, Hawk Moth." Nora grins as she transforms.
At the Ferris wheel, the fireworks went off in the sky.
"Whoa this is amazing." Nino said sitting next to Alya while Sam sat next to Marinette.
'Why is he always so close with Alya? He didn't have to stand up to Nora.' Sam thought crossing his arms.
"Hey what's up?" Alya asks noticing him.
"Uh nothing." Sam said quickly.
"Wow, this is amazing, thanks you guys." Adrien said as Marinette turned her phone so he could look at them when his eyes widen. "Marinette behind you! I saw something go by!"
"I don't see anything. Maybe it was a bird." Marinette said turning around.
Suddenly the Ferris wheel stopped startling all of them.
"Please don't tell me we're gonna be stuck up here." Nino said.
"Good thing we have Sam to protect us now, huh?" Alya smirks.
"Guys there's something down there." Sam said getting their attention.
Looking down they saw a woman with six arms like a spider tying the Ferris wheel up with a web.
"A Supervillan!" Marinette gasps.
"A new scoop for the Ladyblog." Alya said taking out her phone.
"Ladybug, Silver Claw and Cat Noir better show up soon." Nino said as Sam, Marinette and Adrien cringed.
"I uh think my wi-fi is losing signal." Adrien said hanging up.
"Well, well, there you are flyweights." Anansi said climbing up towards them and when they saw her helmet they gasped.
"Nora?!" Sam, Alya, Nino and Marinette said in shock.
"Nora's not around to protect you anymore. I am Anansi, super spider!" Anansi said ribbing their compartment off the Ferris wheel and jumped to the ground.
"All those arms, that's convenient. But you destroyed my scratching post." Cat Noir said appearing nearby.
"Need a hand, kitty cat?" Anansi growls before attacking him.
"Nora, no." Alya said as Cat Noir tried to fight her off.
"You can't beat me kitten." Anansi said grabbing Cat Noir by the legs and throwing him towards the Ferris wheel.
Recovering Cat Noir lands on it before Anansi leaps it him.
Acting quickly Cat Noir jumps out of the way dodging the three punches making Anansi punch the ride causing the Ferris wheel to rock and her webs on it to come undone.
"Go fetch the ferris wheel." Anansi smirks.
"Huh?" Cat Noir said turning around to see the ride was starting to roll away. Gasping Cat Noir runs to save allowing Anansi to grab Alya.
"Hey let her go!" Sam said.
"Ugh it's you sorry but now that you can't cheat how do you plan to save her now?" Anansi mocks before leaping off with Alya.
"Sam what are you doing? Go after her." Nino said.
"Come on!" Sam said as they ran after her but Anansi fires webs making it difficult for them to catch up.
"Sam! Nino!" Marinette gasps.
"We'll be fine Marinette!" Sam said as Marinette ducked under a car.
"Tikki I really messed up. I need to help Sam and Nino and save Alya. Tikki, Spots on!" Marinette said as her earrings glowed and she transformed into Ladybug.
As Sam and Nino struggled to climb a web Sam looks to Faang who gestured for him to lose Nico. "Whoa!" Sam said falling to the ground.
"Sam are you okay man?" Nino asks helping him up.
"No I twisted my ankle." Sam groans.
"Alright, don't worry buddy I'll save Alya." Nino said going ahead.
Growling Sam ran behind a building and let out Faang.
"Boy between Nino and Nora you are not looking like the ideal boyfriend for Alya." Faang said.
"I'll show them who a lousy boyfriend is. Faang, Teeth out!" Sam said as his bracelet glowed and he transformed into Silver Claw.
As the ferris wheel rolled towards the river, Cat Noir threw his staff which extended between two lion statues and stopped the ride before it fell into the water.
Leaping in Silver Claw and Ladybug ran over to see Cat Noir getting all the civilians off.
"Thank you, Cat Noir." A mother said.
"Wow, you've been busy." Silver Claw said.
"You do pretty well without us, I see." Ladybug said.
"But it's so much nicer when you're here, milady." Cat Noir said.
"What am I chopped liver?" Silver Claw smirks.
"Let's go show that spider what three superheroes are capable of." Ladybug said as they ran off.
Making his way through the webs, Nino makes to the Arc De Triomphe where Alya was tied up in a giant web.
"Alya!" Nino gasps.
"Nino! Don't stick around!" Alya warns as Anansi climbed down.
"Well, well look who it is." Anansi smirks.
"Anansi, you let Alya go right now!" Nino warns as she jumps down.
"Oh yeah? And how exactly is a weak little fly-weight gonna force me to release my prisoner?" Anansi mocks.
Nino charges in but Anansi stops him with one hand before picking him up and throwing him into the air.
Looking up Ladybug gasps and throws her yoyo catching Nino.
"Watch out! You need to leave this to the professionals." Ladybug said putting him down before they ran off.
"This isn't over spider!" Nino declared before chasing after them.
"So it's three against one now? Fine with me. Round two! Begin!" Anansi said charging in and nailing Cat Noir sending him flying into a car.
"Cat Noir!" Ladybug gasps.
"On the floor already? We just started!" Anansi mocks as Ladybug helped him up.
"Are you okay?" Ladybug asks.
"Everything except my pride." Cat Noir said.
"The akuma has to be in her headgear." Silver Claw said.
"Yeah, but she's so strong we can't even get near her." Cat Noir said.
"Change of plan, Silver Claw and I will take care of Anansi while you release her prisoner and it'll distract her long enough to drop her guard." Ladybug said.
"Look out!" Silver Claw said pulling them out of the way as a car flew towards them.
"Round three!" Anansi said hurling another car at them.
'Come on Sam.' Alya thought as Silver Claw and Ladybug attacked Anansi who dodged them all with ease while Cat Noir climbed up the web.
However as he climbed up his suit started to get stuck in web.
"Huh? Seriously? Cat Noir said trying to get free but ended up getting trapped himself. "Uh milady. I seem to have gotten myself into a sticky situation."
"Looks like I already got a catch. You're next." Anansi smirks.
"I don't think so!" Ladybug throws her yoyo but Anansi grabs it and throws Ladybug across the street making her foot get caught in a cobweb.
"You're like a cat caught in a spider web." Anansi said turning to Cat Noir.
"Uh technically spiders don't eat cats." Cat Noir said.
"Well I suggest we make an exception." Anansi said
Grabbing his staff Cat Noir tries to swat her away but she deflects it making land next to Ladybug.
"Anansi get his Miraculous." Hawk Moth orders when she was punched in the face falling to the ground.
"You forget I was here?" Silver Claw glares as Anansi gets up.
"You wanna go dog breath?" Anansi glares.
"Bring it on." Silver Claw said.
"Are you okay dude I mean Ladybug?" Nino asks as she pulls herself free.
"Yeah but we'll need some help. Lucky Charm!" Ladybug throws her yoyo into the air and a candle appeared. "A candle? Of course, but I don't have enough time to make a round trip."
"Maybe I can help you." Nino said getting her attention. "Uh, I get it. It's cool. I'm no superhero. My friend Sam and I tried to save Alya, but… guess I'm not strong enough."
"Let me tell you something uh…"
"Nino. The name's Nino." He said as she picked up Cat Noir's staff.
"Nino. When you're facing a supervillain, strength doesn't make a difference. Courage and determination do. We can't let Anansi get Cat Noir's Miraculous. Use this to help Silver Claw and protect yourself. I won't be long." Ladybug said giving him the staff and swinging away.
As Anansi threw punch after punch Silver Claw held up his fists blocking the punches when suddenly Cat Noir's staff swung in and whacked her away.
"Hang on Silver Claw!" Nino said running in.
"Well look what we have here." Anansi smirks as Silver Claw leaps up and kicks her in the gut making her skid back.
"What are you doing here?" Silver Claw asks turning to Nino.
"Ladybug told me to cover you. She needed to do something important." Nino explains.
"Alright, I'll do the attacking you distract her." Silver Claw said.
"On it." Nino said readying the staff.
At Master Fu's place, Marinette and Tikki ran in.
"Master, Silver Claw and Nino won't hold off Anansi for long. She's about to get a hold of Cat Noir's Miraculous!" Marinette said getting his attention.
"We can't let that happen." Master Fu said retrieving the Miraculous Box. "Marinette Dupain-Cheng, pick an ally you can trust to fight alongside you on this mission. Choose wisely; such power's on hand to serve a greater good. Once the mission is over, you must retrieve the Miraculous from them."
"Hmm Rena Rouge would be the ideal choice to help Silver Claw but I don't know where she is. I need a protective Miraculous." Marinette said before noticing the Turtle Miraculous on Fu's wrist. "That's the one I need." Marinette said surprising him. "Uh if it's okay with you."
Fu looks to Wayzz and nods. "Do you have someone in mind, Marinette?" Fu asks taking off the bracelet handing it to her.
"Actually, I think I found the perfect person." Marinette said as Tikki ate a macaroon getting her energy back.
Back at the Arc de Triomphe, Nino swings the staff at Anansi but she dodges.
"What are you trying to do with that little stick?" Anansi mocks.
"This!" Silver Claw said ramming into her knocking the spider lady to the ground.
"Yeah!" Cat Noir said.
"Awesome moves Silver Claw!" Alya cheers.
"You are one annoying mutt." Anansi said rubbing her stomach area.
"Even if people like you think I can't protect anyone that won't stop me from doing everything I can." Silver Claw said.
Hearing that Alya smiles softly. 'You asked me what I saw in him Nora, well this is it.'
Growling Anansi swings her 6 arms at him but Silver Claw rolls out of the way allowing Nino to extend the staff nailing her the nose.
"Oh you're gonna pay for that cappy!" Anansi said when Silver Claw grabs her by two arms and slams her to the ground.
"Not while I'm still fighting." Silver Claw said.
"Those two are pretty good." Cat Noir said.
"Let's hope Ladybug gets back before things start getting bad." Alya said.
Silver Claw delivers a jump kick but Anansi grabs his legs.
"Gotcha!" Anansi said punching him with her free hands sending Silver Claw slamming into the arc before she turned to Nino. "No one to save you now."
Nino swings the staff but Anansi caught it.
"Time to fly lightweight!" Anansi said throwing Nino into the air when Ladybug swooped in and grabbed him before bringing him to the roof of a building.
"Thanks, Ladydude uh I mean Ladybug." Nino corrects.
"Thanks for dropping by dude." Ladybug smirks.
"Now who should I pick first? The trapped kitty or the limping doggy? Decisions, decisions." Anansi smirks as Silver Claw was on his knees.
"Anansi stop wasting time. Go for Silver Claw's bracelet or Cat Noir's ring and do it now." Hawk Moth orders.
"Alright, alright geez." Anansi said walking up to Silver Claw. "Any last words?" Anansi asks lifting up him up.
"Two actually…Moon Call!" Silver Claw's bracelet glows as he blasted Anansi with a sonic howl from close range sending her flying back smashing into 4 cars before crashing into a bus.
"Ooh that's gotta hurt." Alya winces.
"That should buy us a little time." Silver Claw said as Anansi groaned softly climbing out of the bus.
"Hurry up Ladybug." Cat Noir said.
"I'm gonna need your help again. Do you still wanna save your friend?" Ladybug asks.
"Absolutely." Nino nods.
"Nino Lahiffe, this is the Miraculous of the turtle, which grants the power of protection. You will use it for the greater good." Ladybug said taking out the Miraculous box.
When Nino opens the box Wayzz flies out. "Whoa dude!"
"Hello, my name is Wayzz."
"Hey little guy, what are you, a genie like in those fairy tales?" Nino asks.
"I am a kwami. I can't grant wishes, but I can give you superpowers." Wayzz said.
"Once the job is done, you must return the Miraculous to me. Can I trust you?" Ladybug asks as Nino put on the bracelet.
"You bet, dudette." Nino said.
"Then you all have to say is Wayzz, Shell On." Wayzz said.
"Wayzz, Shell On!" Nino said as his bracelet glows and a dark green bodysuit appears on him with a hood over his head, goggles and a turtle shell appears on his back turning him into Carapace.
"Ha ha! This is crazy." Carapace smiles.
"Stay focused. Silver Claw doesn't have much time left before he transforms back and we need to save Alya and Cat Noir. Lucky charm!" Ladybug does it once again this time she got a pair of boxing gloves.
"Boxing gloves? You're not gonna fight Anansi directly, are you?" Carapace asks.
"Why not? It's a simple plan, but you have to protect us me, Cat Noir, Silver Claw and Alya. You've already proved you're capable of doing it." Ladybug said as Anansi broke out of the car prison Silver Claw made.
"Uh oh." Silver Claw cringed as Anansi made her way towards him.
"Hey six hands!" Carapace said getting their attention as he threw his shell at her. "Catch this!" Smacking into her Silver Claw ducks as Anansi flew towards the Arc.
"About time." Silver Claw said.
"Change of pet? You replaced your kitty with a turtle?" Anansi asks.
"I love animals, but I'm not into spiders." Ladybug said throwing her yoyo but it flew past Anansi.
"Ha missed!" Anansi said moving in when Carapace uses his shell to block the punches.
"Tag in Silver Claw. I got this." Carapace said.
"Go nuts." Silver Claw said as Carapace deflects Anansi's punches before slamming his shell into her knocking her back towards Ladybug who had used her yoyo to make a boxing ring around the Arc and put on the boxing gloves.
"Anansi! I challenge you. One round. You win, you get my Miraculous. I win, you release your prisoners. What do you have to lose?" Ladybug asks as Silver Claw's bracelet beeped. "In a few minutes, Silver Claw will transform back. What do you have to lose?"
"Don't listen to her! It's a trap!" Hawk Moth said.
"Don't worry, butterfly man, this nasty bug ain't no match for Anansi." Anansi said as they touched gloves in the middle
Raising his sword Silver Claw banged it against Carapace's shield mimicking a bell starting the match.
"One punch will be enough." Anansi said moving in for the attack but Ladybug dodges and lands in a corner.
"You couldn't punch the wind." Ladybug mocks.
"It's over." Anansi moves in but at the last second Ladybug dodges causing her to punch one of the Arc De Triomphe pillars causing it to crack.
"One punch huh? Well maybe if you can actually land one." Ladybug smirks.
"Shut up!" Anansi said throwing punch after punch.
"Why do you have trouble doing two things at the same time?" Ladybug asks dodging her attack again causing her to punch another pillar.
"Stay still!" Anansi continues her attacks but Ladybug dodges resulting in her hitting the pillars again and again.
"You're so weak that when you're shadow-boxing, your shadow wins!" Ladybug mocks.
"Shadow this!" Anansi said kicking Ladybug knocking her into the wires. "You can't win this fight so just give me your Miraculous."
"You wish." Ladybug smirks pushing against the wires causing the Arc to crumble and a large rock comes down on Anansi trapping her leg.
"It's all up to you know Captain Turtle." Ladybug said grabbing Carapace and Silver Claw and they leaped to save Alya and Cat Noir.
"At your service dude, uh I mean Ladybug." Carapace said causing Alya to look at him suspiciously. "Shell-Ter!" Raising his shield, a green barrier appeared around the 5 of them protecting them as the entire monument crumbled.
"You're not really replacing us with a turtle, are you?" Cat Noir asks when Anansi started to break free.
"Not the time!" Ladybug points.
"Cataclysm!" With dark energy surrounding his hand Cat Noir leaps at Anansi and destroyed her headgear releasing the akuma.
"No more evil doing for you little akuma. Time to de-evilise!" Ladybug throws her yoyo capturing the akuma and turning it back into a butterfly. "Gotcha! Bye-bye little butterfly. Miraculous Ladybug!" Throwing the boxing gloves into the air all the damage was undone and Nora returned to normal.
"What the? Beetle, Dog breath and Mr. Whiskers?" Nora asks.
They were about to fist bump when Silver Claw's bracelet beeped.
"Uh sorry guys gotta go." Silver Claw said running off before he transformed.
"Yeah I better go too." Cat Noir said running off.
"Hey Cat Noir, no one could replace you." Ladybug said causing him to smile as he ran off.
"Pound it." Ladybug and Carapace said fist bumping when Alya took out her phone.
"Whoa, this is a first for the Ladyblog. A brand new superhero! What's your name?" Alya asks.
"Uh Carapace. Yeah my name is Carapace." He declared before he and Ladybug ran off.
At his base, Hawk Moth was not happy.
"You're gaining more allies, Ladybug, but don't rush to rejoice. Soon you might just be outnumbered." Hawk Moth vows.
At the Arc De Triomphe, Sam slowly walked over.
"Where have you been?" Nora asks.
"I twisted my ankle trying to chase after you two. I'm glad you two are safe." Sam said.
"Seriously? Alya I get but why me?" Nora asks.
"Hey you're her sister. If you're important to her, you're important to me." Sam said as Alya hugged him.
"Well you're definitely not a fighter but maybe I'm starting to see why my little sis likes you." Nora smiles. "I'm sorry for losing my cool back there."
"Well the truth is if Marinette didn't distract you I wouldn't have won." Sam admits.
"Well then I guess we're both losers in this case." Nora said.
"Sam you are not gonna believe what happened." Alya said as they walked a good distance. "Okay what's going on? What was with that act earlier?"
"Well all day you and Nino have been hanging out getting close and well…" Sam cringed.
"Sam are you jealous?" Alya giggles.
"What?" Sam said.
"Listen you have nothing to worry about. Nino is just a good friend. I may like Nino but I love you. Ever since I met you my life has changed in ways I never thought possible and I'll always love you for that. Nino may have tried to save me today but you're always my hero." Alya smiles.
"I love you." Sam smiles.
"Well you're gonna love me even more when I tell you I think I know who your new turtle friend is." Alya said.
"Hey guys!" Looking over they saw Nino and Marinette run over.
"Are you guys okay?" Nino asks.
"We're fine and so is Nora uh I mean Anansi." Sam said.
"You can call me Nora. After all it'll be pretty weird if you call me Anansi when Alya brings you over for dinner next week." Nora said surprising them.
"Seriously? I thought you didn't like him." Alya said.
"Heh, he's starting to grow on me. What do you say wanna bring Sam over?" Nora shrugs saying his name for the first time.
Alya smiles and hugs her big sis and boyfriend close happy to have them both.
