(AN: I think I may actually flesh out the siblings, as the family will be part of the main setting for a while. In the great words of Muhammad Ali, "Fuck it, we ball.")

*Luna PoV*

As a ray of sun that made its way however many millions of miles towards remnant from the sun and into Luna's eyes awoke her, she turned away from the direction of the window and once again sought refuge in the world unconscious. Until a single thought broke through the haze of sleepiness that had been attempting to lull her back into darkness.

'grampa!'', she thought excitedly rushing up from her bed and getting ready to head out of her room.

Luna was excited for today. Of course she was, because today she was going to properly meet her grandfather for the first time. Yesterday didn't count in her mind since she got shy and couldn't speak to him no matter how curious she was.

She had so many questions she wanted to ask him, like where he had been for so long? why didn't mom ever speak about him? why was his beard so long? how did he lose his hand? how did he find them? She honestly couldn't decide which ones she wanted to ask first! She supposed she'll figure it out once she's downstairs.

As she thought this and much more she kept prancing around her room looking for the things she wanted to wear. She should probably clean up her room, but honestly it was just going to end up messy again so she didn't see a point. Her mom would force her to clean it by the end of the week anyways, but right now her room was a mess, clothes, books, and toys were all over the place. The fact that there were books at all was impressive, and the fact that books outnumbered every other object in her room was astounding, for Luna was the youngest Arc sibling at an impressive 8 years old. Well at least SHE thought it was impressive.

Luna had always wanted a grandfather. Well not always, just ever since her friends at school had shared their stories about their grandparents, but it felt like a long time to Luna! Luna learned from them that they're supposed to be really kind and always give them gifts when they visit. Luna was already planning on asking for a lot of books.

Her grandfather was a little bit different than what she expected though. She honestly thought he was a little scary. The scar made him look very mean, and he always looked so serious too. That's actually part of the reason she didn't approach him yesterday, but the curiosity that had been building up since yesterday was absolutely overshadowing her slight fear. I mean sure he looked a little scary, and at times stood straighter and more still than a statue, but Luna was sure he was kind, he was her grandpa after all.

As she finished up her thoughts she also finished readying herself, and so she went to the mirror to take a look at herself before exiting the room. She sees glimmering violet eyes staring back at her, her silver-blue hair falls over her eye for a second as she brushes it away. Deciding she's looking good, she prepares to head downstairs and starts for the door, before freezing in place and quickly making her way over to her desk.

'might need my journal' she thought to herself as she quickly grabbed it before heading for the door again.

*knock* *knock*

"Hey! Luna it's morning, wake up already!" comes a shout from the other side of the door.

"I'm already awake Hazel!", shouted Luna as she reached the door and opened it to glare at the offender.

There in the doorway stood Hazel. Her vibrant green eyes on her slightly tanned skin and short, spiky black hair staring down towards her with a smirk.

*Hazel PoV*

"Well isn't this a surprise" I said smiling as I reached my hand towards her and started to ruffle Luna's hair.

"Usually we have to go in there and drag you out, while you complain the whole way through.", Hazel stated cheerily as Luna was trying to get my hand off her head, but it was a futile attempt with only one hand as the other held her journal, and I just kept putting it back.

"Quit it!" Luna said as she glared at me, it was honestly cute and made me want to ruffle her hair even more. After a short while of hair ruffles and useless struggles, I decided to give her a way out.

"Only if you tell me why you're actually up and about today." After hearing my words her attempts to stop me ceased, even if her glare hadn't. She pouted at me, but decided to speak.

"It's because we get to actually talk to gramps today" she answered I'm a curt tone.

Ah yes, 'him' Hazel thought to herself. Honestly Hazel didn't know what to think. Her mom had never mentioned this guy before and suddenly just yesterday they had a new grandfather? It didn't make sense, but she guessed she and everyone else would get their answers over breakfast.

She didn't trust him though, it may be childish, but he looked like a villain straight out of the TV morning cartoons. With the nice suit and the massive scar to tell the viewers that he's the bad guy. Honestly as she stated it felt pretty childish she admitted to herself, but she really couldn't detach him from the role she gave him.

She didn't actually think him evil, but his looks along with his standoffish attitude yesterday didn't earn him any points with her. Maybe he-

"You said you'd let go!" a sudden shout from the youngest Arc surprised hazel, making her flinch her arm back.

"haha whoops, sorry Lulu got lost in thought there for a bit" Hazel answered while scratching the back of her head, and grinning in an apologetic manner.

"You thinking? That's a shocker" said Luna with bite in her words. "Also I said I don't like being called Lulu!" Luna said as she tried looking angry, but in Hazel's eyes that just made her look cuter.

"Right, gotcha. Anyways let's head down Luna", I'm sure you have a load of questions for the guy" With that quick change of subject Luna's mood did a 180 as she exited her room, dashed past Hazel and made for the stairs.

Hazel just stared and sighed as she began to follow. Luna had so much potential for sports, but had always been far more into books than into anything else really. Unfortunately that was a polar opposite from Hazel herself, she loved physical exercise and always had since her father had shown her his exercise regime. She began to muse to herself as she went along.

At the time she was 6, and Jaune had just been born, so dad had stayed home to care for her mom. He had decided to keep active and started exercising in the back yard, when she saw him lifting really heavy weights and sprinting from one end of the yard to the other extremely fast, she had been inspired and tried training with him. She of course could not keep up, and this made her cry. So her dad instead made an exercise routine centered around her, it was much, MUCH lighter than his own, but he still did it with her in place of his every morning. She still missed him.

In the end there wasn't much she could do, Luna's interests were hers and Hazel's were her own, even if that ended up with them butting heads sometimes. How amusing she was already 21, and yet Luna somehow always found a way to get under her skin that ended up with the two of them arguing.

Her musings were cut short as she found herself looking into the dining room. It seems like they were just waiting on her for breakfast to start ,she was the last one to arrive, a spot usually reserved for Luna. As she sat down and picked her utensils, she looked over at the star of the show. He seemed to once again be indifferent.

Her mom stood from her chair and grabbed everyone's attention.

"Alright everyone, let me set some ground rules before we begin. I know you all have a lot of questions, but if everyone asks all at once we'll get nowhere, if you all ask every question you have, we'll be here all day. So everyone gets one question before someone else gets a turn and we will cycle around until breakfast is finished. We'll go from oldest to youngest." Her mom said to the table.

"Alrighty then, let's have breakfast and let's begin with Hazel." she finished in a cheery voice.

'Oh hell I wasn't ready, what do I ask?' Thought Hazel in a bit of a panic as she looked at him. He was staring back at her expressionlessly and yet that somehow made her more nervous, before long she decided to just ask whatever grabbed her attention first. He was eating his breakfast with only a hand.

"Umm, what happened to your arm?" she asked hesitantly, as she slowly realized how inappropriate that question. She could definitely tell it was the wrong question especially seeing how a brief pause in everyone's activities allowed the room to be swallowed by silence.

'Smooth Hazel, real smooth, I'm sure he loves it when people ask him how he got a life changing injury' she berated herself, but she just hadn't been ready. What else would she have asked? Probably where he'd been all this time, or for him to introduce himself, 'ugh, hindsight is 20/20'

*Yamamoto PoV*

He was amused. He watched as her face twisted through a variety of emotions before finally settling on defeat. He thought this question might come up eventually, but not be the first question right off the bat before they even asked his name. He decided to throw them a bone and he would introduce himself a bit before he answered her.

"My name is Yamamoto Genryuusai Shigekuni, I am a wanderer and something similar to a hunter. It's nice to make your acquaintance." He finished stating that last part towards the rest of the table.

He turned his attention back to Hazel and said, "To answer your question I lost my arm in a fight with a Grimm when I went to defend the village I and your mother used to live in" he lied as easily as he breathed.

He saw their expressions go through a variety of changes, some sadness, some guilt, some awe, and some others he couldn't figure out. Very likely a mixture of emotions.

"How did you survive!" cut a voice through the moment. The voice belonging to a silver-blue haired Arc. "According to my books Grimm are very dangerous and people don't tend to survive encountering them!" She finished with a voice not accusing but instead brimming with curiosity.

"Luna!" Violet chastised, "You're supposed to wait for your turn young lady"

"Ah, right. Sorry" Luna answered much of her excitement leaving her like a deflating balloon.

"Actually mom I would kinda like to skip my questions and if you don't mind I'd like Luna to have them" Spoke up the second eldest with a calm smile on her face. She was blonde with gentle blue eyes and long flowing hair.

Violet made a face, but eventually went back to a smile as she said, "That's fine Lily, does anyone else also want to give Luna their question?" and 2 other hands went up, one belonging to the sister with deep blue hair and dark blue eyes, the other hand belonging to the sister with brown hair and striking amber colored eyes.

"Very well, Lily, Sapphire, and Amber have given their turns to Luna" Violet announced and Luna looked overjoyed. "Go ahead Luna, also don't ask any rude questions."

"It's fine, I do not mind her curiosities" Yamamoto spoke, and he did in fact not care what questions she would ask. He would answer them easily.

"Great!" Said Luna with a smile, and so ignoring the chastising stare her mother was giving her she continued on with her last question, "How did you survive the Grimm? What kind of Grimm was it? Is that how you lost your arm?"

"When your mother was quite young Grimm attacked our village, a few others and myself went to try and defend the wall for the people to get away or for a hunter to arrive." Yamamoto said beginning to weave what would be his tapestry of lies.

"It was during the fight with the Grimm, that a beowolf managed to get its jaws on my left arm. Everyone was already busy trying to defend themselves against the hoard, so I instead severed my arm and now free from it's hold I slayed the beast."

As he finished speaking, he took in the expressions around the table, there was a palpable sense of sadness, but also some awe and respect showing themselves in their eyes.

'I am quite sure they bought it' Yamamoto thought to himself.

"Since you managed to defend the village, you must be a hunter right?" Spoke up Jaune, he had a strange gleam in his eye, looking almost hopeful.

"I did not manage to defend my village, I failed." Yamamoto answered building more of his story. "While myself and the others tried to defend the village it wasn't enough, we were overrun."

"Most of the others who'd come with me died, and I was only able to get away by the sheer luck of of being tossed into a nearby river by a charging boarbatusk" he stated grimly.

Yamamoto was thankful that he had paid attention to the TV yesterday, he had managed to gleam what Grimm were and other information about them. This allowed him to deceive them a bit more easily. He carried on with his tale,"The strong currents managed to carry me a few miles down stream, and I almost drowned many times, but through either luck or intervention I found a piece of driftwood to cling myself to as the current carried me."

Yamamoto paused for a moment eating a bit more of his breakfast as he let them absorb the information before continuing with his story.

"Eventually the current lost it's strength and I managed to shore myself. I travelled back to the village which was now a few hours away thanks to the river, but when I arrived there was nothing but ruins left." Yamamoto finished.

The male Arc looked regretful about asking his question. Considering how silent it left the room everyone was probably left reeling from what they just learned. Even Luna ever excited and curious didn't look like she wanted to ask more.

"Alrighty!" Violet's voice cut through the silence, "As you can see, the topic of our past a little bit heavy, so I'll fill you in on the details that we managed to put together when we met yesterday. If you want more in depth information you'll have to ask your grandpa later." and so she went on to explain the same tale she spun to him yesterday.

A short while later she finished with a, "and that's why your grandfather never managed to find me until today, it didn't help that I took your father's last name either."

Nobody at the table had really asked any questions as she spoke. They just ate breakfast and listened to their mother tell them how they had ended up separated.

Nobody until Jaune directed a question at Yamamoto, "Do you think you could train me?" he asked hopefully. Yamamoto noticed how immediately after the table fell a bit silent and many of the siblings looked at Jaune with pitying eyes.

"Jaune, honey, we've talked about thi-" Violet started in a low voice that was almost threatening.

But with such a great opportunity Yamamoto could not let it go by and interrupted before Violet finished, "I would not mind, in fact we could start today after breakfast." he said facing the male blonde. His eyes were lighting up in joy, and his shift in mood was almost tangible.

"No!"

Yamamoto looked to his left, and saw Violet glaring at him.

"He will not be training and he will not become a huntsman!" she said, ignoring the hurt look on Jaune's face and focused on staring down Yamamoto.

"He needs to become strong. Lest things fall from his grasp due to his own weakness much like myself... with the village I mean. Had I been stronger none of that would have happened." and suddenly Yamamoto knew he said the wrong thing.

Violet looks hurt. She takes a breath and looks over the table and towards her kids, "Kids, leave us alone for a moment ok? I have some things I need to discuss with you grandpa."

The rest of the family at the table sensing the shift in mood, and knowing there was an approaching storm for the household quickly vacated. Some heading to their rooms, some heading out to their friends, and some just exiting the house.

As the last of them left Violet looked at Yamamoto, "What do you think you're doing, do you want him to die for the thankless masses the same way his father did?" she questioned him accusingly.

"I did not say that, I just said I'm offering to train the boy. I see nothing wrong with that." he stated calmly.

"Nothing wrong with that? NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT? Did yesterday mean nothing to you?! I cannot have him end up like his father!" She said increasing her volume to match her feelings on the matter.

"I will NOT have my son become a hunter. End. Of. Story." she said to him.

"Very well, I did not have the profession of hunter in mind for him anyways, but regardless he must learn to fend for himself." Yamamoto stated

"No, I don't want him near any combat, I do not want him in any danger at all" Violet said vehemently denying any chance for him to get training.

"That is unreasonable." stated Yamamoto with a frown.

"I don't care." stated Violet with a glare he didn't think her capable of

'This is going nowhere' Yamamoto thought to himself. 'I need to convince her somehow, or I will have to take the young Arc by force' and by force was not a method he wanted to use for he had grown just a tiny bit fond for her, but if she kept being unreasonable his hand may be forced.

"Why do you deny him this? It was not I who offered first, but him who asked for it." Yamamoto asked trying to get a better sense of the situation ,"Even his siblings looked upon him with pity as he asked, why must you hinder him so?"

This line of questioning doused Violet's anger for a bit, as she sighed and looked at him she said, "It's because I don't, I can't allow him to end up like his father."

'Well what does this mean? Dead? Forgotten?" Raising a brow, Yamamoto nonverbally elaborated for her to continue.

"As you already know his dad is dead, but it's what led to that that I don't want him to ever go through." She said in a lower tone of a voice, "He's always been kind, too kind. Even as a young child before we taught him to care for his siblings he would already attempt to do that for himself."

"That is why I cannot allow him to become a hunter, he's much too kind, and if he fails just like his dad, it will break him. Worse than that he will break himself attempting to atone." she finished.

"I see, then the answer is quite obvious." Yamamoto stated now understanding the situation.

"Yes, thank you for respecti-"

"I must simply make it so he's unbreakable." He finished.

Violet's face went from calm to tomato red in a second.

"DID YOU NOT HEAR A SINGLE THING I SAID?" Violet shouted as she felt ignored and somewhat mocked by this person who should agree with her as he knows better than most the pain she's carried with her.

"I did, and so I will make sure that he is tough enough to survive anything the future throws at him." Yamamoto stated unaffected by her demeanor.

"How. Explain to me how you who had your village lost to death and destruction are in any place to tell me that you'll prevent the death or self destruction of my son?" She spoke calmly, but the vitrl on her tone was almost enough to classify as a weapon. She did not realize that the war she spoke of was fought by beings far above her understanding.

Yamamoto would say her words stung, but she didn't know what she was talking about, only half truths and lies. So he would show her, that it's not just the words of an old man, but by the words of Shinigami Captain Commander Yamamoto that Jaune Arc will not break.

"Walk with me" He stated and made his way out of the house.

Violet was stunned at the sudden change of pace, and as soon as she caught her wits she followed him outside. "Where are you going? What are we doing out here"

"Tell me, which way is the ocean?" he asked as she followed him to where he stood outside the house.

Weirded out but complying regardless she pointed off in a direction and said, "It's that way North East of here."

"Very well, let us be off" He stated as he reached out to her shoulder.

"Huh? What do you me-" and suddenly Yamamoto and Violet were gone.

*Violet PoV*

The world had lurched and before my eyes suddenly there was no longer the town surrounded by the forest but a vast and endless blue where as far as she could see the sky touched the water. The ground beneath her changed to a spread of shand that could be nothing other than a beach.Thr briney salty smell unmistakable.

The ocean.

It couldn't be, she was literally just in the town of Emag. This could not be because she was in the middle of the continent of Sanus and to see the ocean she'd have to be at the she'd have to somehow be at the edge of it. A distance which would take days by foot, and hours by bullhead, in less than what appeared to be a second.

Yamamoto walked in front of her heading closer to the water, bringing her back to reality.

Violet snapping out of her daze asked him., "Where the hell are we?", her old instincts as a huntress starting to kick into overdrive. "What did you do? Is this your semblance?" she asked as she began to shift into a fighting pose.

Yamamoto ignored her as he kept walking towards the water.

"Hey, I said-" and suddenly she jumped back, as Yamamoto's cane disappeared in a flurry of flame and in its place was a sword.

She'd been an idiot, she berated herself for letting such a dangerous person get so close to her, and more importantly around her family. She just didn't expect this, especially after he decided to hold her yesterday during a breakdown that had been building for many years. She had thought of him as kind. Unfortunately now she may have to fight him.

But in 7 words she lost the will to fight, and in 1 move she understood.

"Reduce all creation to ash, Ryuujin Jakka" and with those 7 words an ocean of flame swallowed Yamamoto and his surrounding area. Even from as far as she was she could feel the heat and more she could feel what she could only best describe as weight pressing her down to her knees.

This was bad, she needed to get away, but then Yamamoto spoke. His back was turned towards her and the fires were loud, but she heard his voice clear as day.

"I lost my home due to my weakness, but I am not weak." and he swung his sword at the ocean In front of him.

Fire.

The ocean was burning. Not boiling, not evaporating, but on fire.

A pillar of flame reaching to the heavens cleaved through the water as if it wasn't even there, and behind it left a massive chasm which the water surrounding struggled to fill.

God.

Demon.

Monster.

All these thoughts filtered through Violet's head before Yamamoto, who was still being swallowed up by the flames around him, turned back to look at her, and spoke.

"You who have fed me, clothed me, and even worried for me. You who did all this and asked for nothing in return. Understand I will repay the favor, and by my words as Yamamoto Genryuusai Shigekuni, young Jaune will not break, young Jaune will thrive, and young Jaune will grasp his future with his own two hands" He spoke, his tone and posture in such a manner that it felt like those words were written into law right then and there.

His cane returned and the flames vanished along with the weight, almost as if they were a dream, but the very massive gap in the boiling ocean was still there to remind her that this was reality.

Yamamoto walked towards her and for once in a very long time she was scared not for her family, but for herself, but as he reached her kneeling form he reached out his hand to help her up.

"I know you worry about Jaune's future. How afraid you are that he'll break himself to save others, but I will protect him every step of the way until he is ready, this I promise you." he finished he statement waiting for her to reach out and grab his hand.

As she started at his outstretched hand she had only one thought.

'If he protects Jaune I doubt there will be a force in this world that could harm him' with her mind made up she took his hand and allowed him to help her up. He smiled at her as she grasped his hand. It was barely the most faint of curling of lips, but she was sure she saw it.

"We should probably get back, I don't want to keep young Jaune waiting for his training." Yamamoto said, and with another grab of her shoulder they were suddenly back outside the house.

Yamamoto made his way inside, and she somewhat despondently followed. She was trying her best to process what she had just witnessed, but her mind kept trying to deny the reality that was Yamamoto.

"Let us grab young Jaune, I'm sure he'll be happy to hear that he will be able to train" Yamamoto said

"Yes... let's do that." she responded. Trying to get used to the idea of Jaune finally training to become a hunter. If anyone were to ask her if she was fine at that moment the answer would be a simple 'fuck no' , she had just witnessed an ocean boil and part of it vanish, with the perpetrator not even breaking a sweat. She guessed she could be happy that Jaune could chase his dream and she wouldn't have to worry about his safety, but that tower of flames reaching out to eat the heaves will forever stay with her.

She made for the stairs and on her way to grab Jaune out from his room she decided to file the mental breakdown away for later and to be happy for Jaune right now. As she reached his room she knocked and said, "Jaune honey, can you come downstairs we need to talk"

She heard some shuffling inside the room before Jaune peeked his head out the door, "Um, am I in trouble?" he asked looking timid.

Right she had been a little angry with him before for asking to be trained after she had already told him no, but that was before Yamamoto and after seeing him cleave the ocean it just seemed so inconsequential.

"No sweetie, I just want to talk to you about something, let's head downstairs." she said reassuringly

As they both made their way downstairs they found Yamamoto sitting on the couch, "Very good we can begin training if you follow me outside", he said as he saw the two approaching

Jaune looked at me confused, but a glimmer or hope was shining through his eyes. All I did was give him a nod.

His smile lit up the room, just the same way his father used to brighten up the room almost as if by existing. She wanted to take back her word, to keep him safe, but held those feelings back and said, "Jaune, me and your grandfather spoke a bit, and I managed to see his point.", how could she not after such an intimidating display, "You will be allowed to train with your grandfather"

"YES! THANK YOU MOM, YOU'RE THE BEST EVER!" He said as he dashed towards her and caught her in a hug.

She couldn't remember the last time she saw Jaune this happy. Maybe when he was younger and his dad was still around, but never since. Maybe just maybe she was actually doing the right thing for him. With a smile she spoke up.

"Yes, I am and you better remember that, but it's not good to keep people waiting, now go with you grandpa, he's already heading to the back yard."

"Okay!" He said as he sprinted towards Yamamoto who was heading towards the backyard through the dining room, and so Violet was left alone.

She honestly felt a bit afraid of Yamamoto, but at the same time knowing that such a force would be around her son in protection of him, she would admit she felt almost a bit lighter.

With those final thoughts she set about doing chores around the house. Maybe being a little busy would distract her.

*Yamamoto PoV*

Within the confines of his mind Yamamoto wanted to sigh.

'That certainly could have gone better' he thought to himself. 'But it could also have gone a lot worse.'

As he reached the back yard with a young Arc besides him he stopped and took a look around. It was a nice and spacious place, the backyard honestly went very far before stopping at the edge of the forest. To him personally it wasn't anything impressive, but comparing this house to the ones in the town, was like day and night.

"Umm so grandpa, like what will we be training in? Will I become a hunter just like you? are we going to kill Grimm?" asked Jaune with energy basically bleeding out of him.

Yamamoto focused on the task at hand and used his past experiences to say.

"We will begin by testing your limit, seeing what you excel at and what you lack. From there we will form a schedule to train you by. For now I want you to do as many pushups, sit-ups, and squats as you can once that's done get up and begin running from here to the end of the yard, repeat that until you can't do it anymore, later on we will begin more complex exercises, but this will do for now"

"Okay!" Jaune said with a smile.

While any other person would have complained by the simple and boring training, he surprised Yamamoto by dropping down and immediately starting the exercises, 'maybe young Arc is truly just that excited for the training.' he mused to himself, if only his students had that same attitude a thousand years back when they started. Unfortunately he needed to hunt them down each and every time. Yamamoto's musings were cut short by the appearance of a familiar menace.

Yamamoto still didn't know what these skills of his did. Maybe the system was buggy, erroneous, useless, arbitr-

[Notice: To see information about a skill, think of the skill and think the command information or info]

[Notice: The system isn't broken, maybe it is the user which is broken]

Yamamoto smiled, he was sure of it now. There was definitely some type of consciousness behind the blue box, he'd been able to goad it for information by insulting it, and he received an insult back. More than that he'd finally be able to see what these 'skills' of his were about.

'Teaching Information' he thought to himself.

[Teaching 45/100]

Yamamoto smiled, this skill was going to be invaluable for training his students.

(AN: Cut it a bit short so I have a good place to start on for next chapter. Also I've decided to actually write out the Arc siblings I will be introducing them slowly and better in the following chapters, also also I've listened to some advice and slowed down my writing and am checking it more thoroughly. My method of writing was honestly story go brrr and then have once over for the story, then ship it out, but I don't think that's feasible without a beta reader. So I'm trying to write more carefully now and am pacing myself to look over the story. If it's still ass that's just cuz I'm cheeks at writing lmao)

(AN2: Anyways yeah leave some reviewskis, critiques, social security numbers, and ideas. Until next time)
