Chapter 2 is here! Yay! As always, enjoy! :)

As Martin finished singing "Greensleeves," his melodic voice still echoing through the Tortuga, he carefully picked up his guitar once more and quietly left the room. He wanted to give Aviva and Chris some time alone to enjoy their date. The room was aglow with the soft lights he and Chris had hung, and the atmosphere was filled with warmth and romance. Aviva looked touched and happy, while Chris beamed with pride and affection.

Koki, who had been watching from the shadows, noticed Martin's quiet departure. She had always suspected that Martin hid a deep sadness beneath his cheerful exterior, especially around Valentine's Day. Though she didn't know the details, she knew he had lost someone he dearly loved during this time. Koki had long harbored feelings for Martin herself, and seeing his pain only made her care for him more deeply. She whispered to herself, "I wish I could help you, Martin."

Respecting his need for solitude, Koki didn't follow Martin. Instead, she let him be, hoping that he would find some peace on his own. Martin stepped outside to the Tortuga's patio, where the sky was painted in hues of orange, pink, and purple as the sun set.

Martin sat down, the cool evening air a welcome change from the warmth inside. He picked up his guitar and began to strum softly, the familiar notes of "Greensleeves" flowing from his fingers. As he played, he began to sing the song quietly to himself:

"I have been ready at your hand,

To grant whatever thou wouldst crave;

I have both wagered life and land,

Your love and good-will for to have."*

As the melody filled the air, Martin's mind drifted back to a painful memory. He remembered the day Daisy had to leave. They had known their summer together was coming to an end, but nothing had prepared him for the final goodbye.

Despite wanting to forget, one of his last memories of her resurfaced, and forced him to relive it yet again.

It was their second to last evening at camp. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the lake. Martin and Daisy sat by the water, her green eyes filled with tears. She had to return home, far away from where Martin lived. Their time together had been magical, but reality was pulling them apart.

"Martin, I don't want to leave you," Daisy said, her voice breaking. "This summer has been the best time of my life."

Martin took her hands in his, feeling his own heart breaking. "I don't want you to go either, Daisy. But we'll always have these memories. And who knows, maybe one day our paths will cross again."

Daisy smiled through her tears. "Promise me you'll never forget me, Martin."

"I promise," he said, his voice choked with emotion. "I'll never forget you, Daisy. You'll always be in my heart."

As they hugged, Martin whispered the lyrics of "Greensleeves" in her ear, the song that had become their own:

"Greensleeves was all my joy,

Greensleeves was my delight,

Greensleeves was my heart of gold,

And who but my lady Greensleeves."*

The memory faded, leaving Martin alone on the patio, strumming his guitar. The sun dipped below the horizon, and the first stars began to twinkle in the sky. He sang the last lines softly:

"Greensleeves, now farewell, adieu,

God, I pray to prosper thee,

For I am still thy lover true,

Come once again and love me."*

Tears glistened in Martin's blue eyes as he finished the song. He had kept his promise to Daisy; he had never forgotten her. Valentine's Day would always be a bittersweet time for him, filled with memories of a love lost but never forgotten.

Back inside, Koki watched the sunset through the window, feeling a pang of empathy for Martin. She hoped that someday he would find the happiness and love he deserved. Until then, she would be there for him, as a friend, and perhaps one day, something more. For now, she respected his need for space, hoping the beauty of the sunset and the music he played would bring him a measure of comfort and peace.

As Martin finished singing "Greensleeves," his angelic voice hanging in the air, Aviva's heart swelled with emotion. She watched him carefully set his guitar down and quietly leave the room, his usual cheerfulness subdued. Something about the way he walked away tugged at her heartstrings. She had always admired Martin's strength and enthusiasm, but tonight she saw a different side of him—a side that was quietly vulnerable.

She glanced at Chris, who was beaming with pride and affection, clearly thrilled with how the evening was going. Chris had put so much effort into making their date special, and Aviva appreciated it deeply. However, as much as she wanted to fully enjoy the moment, she couldn't shake the lingering thoughts of Martin.

Chris leaned in, his intentions clear, but Aviva, lost in her thoughts about Martin, instinctively turned her head slightly, offering Chris her cheek instead. Chris, undeterred, kissed her cheek warmly, thinking nothing of it. He was just happy to be spending time with her.

"Isn't this great?" Chris said, his eyes shining with excitement. "I hope you're having a good time, Aviva."

Aviva smiled, her expression warm but her thoughts distant. "Yes, Chris, it's wonderful. You've done an amazing job."

As Chris began to talk about their next adventure, Aviva's mind drifted back to Martin. She had always hoped that one day, Martin might see her as more than just a friend. Watching him leave the room with that quiet sadness tonight made her heart ache. She wished she could comfort him, to understand the depth of his sorrow and perhaps even help him heal.

"I wish Martin loved me back,"* she thought to herself, feeling a pang of longing. She admired Chris and enjoyed his company, but her heart belonged to Martin. She wondered what had happened to make Martin so sad, especially around Valentine's Day. She knew he carried a deep, hidden pain, and she yearned to be the one to soothe it.

Meanwhile, Martin sat outside on the patio, strumming his guitar softly as the sun set. The memory of Daisy's departure played in his mind, and he sang "Greensleeves" quietly to himself, the words carrying the weight of his emotions.

Aviva glanced towards the door, her thoughts still with Martin. She wanted to be there for him, to understand what he was going through. She appreciated Chris's efforts and his kindness, but she couldn't deny the pull she felt towards Martin.

Inside the cozy, decorated Tortuga, Chris continued to chat, oblivious to the conflict in Aviva's heart. He was just happy to be with her, planning their next adventure and enjoying the evening. Aviva, torn between her affection for Chris and her unspoken love for Martin, resolved to cherish the moment but couldn't help but wish for a different future—a future where Martin might see her the way she saw him.

As the night went on, Aviva's thoughts lingered on Martin, hoping that one day he might find it in his heart to love her back. Until then, she would remain his steadfast friend, hoping for a chance to be the one to bring light to his hidden sadness.

As the evening progressed, Chris continued to chat excitedly about their upcoming adventures, his enthusiasm bubbling over. Aviva, however, found her thoughts drifting back to Martin. She couldn't shake the image of him quietly leaving the room, a hidden sadness in his eyes.

"Chris, I just remembered I need to check on something real quick," Aviva said, hoping her excuse sounded plausible. "I'll be back in a few minutes."

Chris, oblivious to her true intentions, smiled brightly. "Sure, Aviva! Take your time. I've got another surprise for you when you get back."

Aviva smiled and nodded, then slipped out of the room, her heart pounding as she went to find Martin. She walked through the Tortuga, the soft glow of the lights guiding her way. When she stepped onto the patio, she found Martin sitting alone, strumming his guitar softly as he watched the sunset. The sky was a canvas of colors, a perfect backdrop for the melancholic tune he was playing.

She stayed in the shadows, listening to him sing "Greensleeves" quietly to himself, the words filled with a depth of emotion that made her heart ache:

"Greensleeves was all my joy,

Greensleeves was my delight,

Greensleeves was my heart of gold,

And who, but my lady Greensleeves."*

When he finished, Martin sat in silence, staring out at the horizon. Aviva stepped forward, her concern growing as she noticed how quiet and lifeless he looked. She couldn't see the tears that threatened to fall, but she sensed his profound sadness.

"Martin?" she called softly, walking closer. "Are you okay?"

Martin started slightly at her voice, then quickly masked his emotions. "Aviva, hey. Yeah, I'm fine. Just...enjoying the sunset."

Aviva wasn't convinced. "You seem...I don't know, different tonight. Are you sure everything's alright?"

Martin forced one of his famous smiles, the kind that usually lit up a room. "I'm good, really. Just feeling a bit nostalgic, I guess. Nothing to worry about."

The smile reassured Aviva, but only just. She could see through it, but she didn't want to push him further. "Okay, if you say so."

Martin, wanting to change the subject, asked, "Why aren't you with Chris? I thought you two were having a date."

Aviva hesitated, then made up a quick excuse. "Oh, I just needed to check on something real quick. I'll head back now."

Martin nodded, his smile fading as she turned to leave. "Alright, see you later, Aviva."

Aviva walked back inside, her heart heavy with worry for Martin. She hoped he would open up to her someday. When she returned to the room, Chris was waiting eagerly, a box in his hands.

"Hey, you're back!" Chris said excitedly. "I have another surprise for you."

Aviva smiled, trying to push her thoughts of Martin aside. "What's in the box, Chris?"

Chris opened it to reveal a beautiful handmade bracelet, decorated with tiny charms of different animals they had encountered on their adventures. "I made this for you, Aviva. I hope you like it."

Touched by his thoughtfulness, Aviva took the bracelet and put it on. "Chris, it's beautiful. Thank you."

As Chris beamed with happiness, Aviva couldn't help but feel a mixture of gratitude and longing. She appreciated Chris's efforts and kindness, but her heart remained with Martin, hoping that one day he would see her the way she saw him. For now, she resolved to enjoy the evening with Chris and cherish the moments they shared, even as her thoughts lingered on the man who held her heart.

As Martin sat alone on the patio, strumming his guitar and lost in his thoughts, he was surprised but touched when Aviva came to check on him. He appreciated her concern but felt conflicted, knowing she was meant to be enjoying her date with Chris. Her presence reminded him of the feelings he was trying to bury, and once she left, the weight of his sadness returned.

With a heavy heart, Martin stood up and made his way back inside the Tortuga. The corridors seemed longer and colder as he walked, his thoughts still tangled with memories of Daisy and the complicated feelings stirred by Aviva's concern. He was almost to his room when Koki appeared, her face etched with worry.

"Martin," Koki said softly, stepping in front of him and wrapping her arms around him in a warm, comforting embrace. "What's wrong? I can't stand to see you in so much pain."

Martin melted into Koki's arms, grateful for her unwavering support. "It's just...memories," he said vaguely, his voice barely above a whisper. "This time of year is always hard for me."

Koki held him tighter, her heart aching for him. She didn't press for details, knowing he would share when he was ready. "You know I'm here for you, right? You don't have to go through this alone."

Martin nodded, his resolve to keep his emotions in check starting to crumble. He was grateful that Koki was one of his closest confidants, someone he could lean on without having to explain everything. He refused to cry but let himself be comforted by her embrace, taking solace in the warmth and understanding she offered.

Meanwhile, back in the room, Aviva excused herself to use the restroom, needing a moment to collect her thoughts. As she walked through the Tortuga, she stumbled upon a scene that made her heart stop. She saw Martin and Koki in the corridor, locked in a tender embrace. Her heart shattered as she watched Koki kiss Martin on the cheek, and Martin, out of courtesy, reciprocate the gesture.

From Aviva's angle, it looked like an intimate moment between lovers. Her chest tightened, and she felt a crushing wave of devastation wash over her. Unable to bear the sight, she turned and ran to the other restroom on the far side of the Tortuga, desperate to avoid witnessing any more of their interaction.

Inside the restroom, Aviva leaned against the sink, trying to steady her breathing. Her mind raced with a whirlwind of emotions—heartache, jealousy, and confusion. She had hoped that Martin might someday return her feelings, but seeing him with Koki shattered those hopes. She felt lost and alone, the pain of unrequited love weighing heavily on her heart

As Martin walked dejectedly through the Tortuga's corridors, the weight of his memories and emotions bore down on him. He felt like a shadow of his usual cheerful self. Just as he was nearing his room, Koki appeared in front of him, her expression filled with concern.

"Martin," she said softly, her voice tinged with worry. She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him in a warm, comforting hug. "What's wrong? I can't stand to see you in so much pain."

Martin melted into her embrace, feeling the warmth and solace she offered. "It's just...memories," he replied vaguely, his voice barely above a whisper. "This time of year is always hard for me."

Koki held him tighter, her heart aching for him. She didn't need to know the details to understand that he was hurting deeply. "You know I'm here for you, right? You don't have to go through this alone."

Martin nodded, his resolve to keep his emotions in check starting to crumble. He was grateful that Koki was one of his closest confidants, someone he could lean on without having to explain everything. He refused to cry but let himself be comforted by her embrace. When Koki kissed him on the cheek, Martin reciprocated the gesture out of courtesy and gratitude, though his heart wasn't fully in it. He appreciated her support but knew his feelings were too complicated to untangle in that moment.

Koki seeing Martin so vulnerable broke her heart. She had long suspected that he carried a deep sorrow, and it pained her to see him struggling. When she embraced him, she felt the weight of his sadness and wished she could do more to help. She kissed him on the cheek, hoping to provide a small measure of comfort. When he reciprocated, it warmed her heart, though she knew his thoughts were elsewhere. She wanted to tell him how much she cared, but she held back, knowing this wasn't the right time.

Meanwhile, Aviva, having witnessed the hug and kiss from a distance, felt a crushing wave of devastation. She leaned against the sink in the restroom, trying to steady her breathing. After a few moments, she made up her mind. If Martin was going to be with Koki, she would try to enjoy her date with Chris. Maybe she could even make Martin a little jealous, she thought, trying to push her heartbreak aside.

As she composed herself and prepared to return to Chris, Martin was intercepted by his brother. Chris, still buzzing with excitement, found him before he could retreat to his room. "Hey, Martin, could you play 'Greensleeves' again for Aviva? She really loved it."

Martin, despite his emotional exhaustion, agreed. "Sure, Chris. Anything for you guys."

Back in the main room, Aviva returned to Chris, who was waiting eagerly with a new surprise. Martin picked up his guitar and began to play, his fingers moving almost mechanically over the strings as he sang:

"Alas, my love, you do me wrong,

To cast me off discourteously.

For I have loved you well and long,

Delighting in your company."*

As he played, Martin couldn't help but notice Aviva kissing Chris on the mouth. He felt a pang of something—jealousy, regret, he wasn't sure. He was unaware of Aviva's inner turmoil and the deliberate attempt to elicit a reaction from him. Throughout the song, he wondered why she kept looking at him in a certain way, her eyes filled with an emotion he couldn't quite decipher.

When the song ended, Martin managed a small smile before retreating to his room. He flopped onto his bed, emotionally and mentally exhausted. Despite his desperate desire to fall asleep, his mind wouldn't let him rest. Memories of Daisy flooded back, particularly their first kiss.

It was a warm summer evening at camp, and they had sneaked away from the group to sit by the lake. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the water. Martin and Daisy sat close, their hands barely touching but filled with electricity.

"Daisy, this summer has been amazing," Martin said, his voice soft and filled with emotion.

Daisy turned to him, her bright green eyes shimmering with a mixture of joy and sadness. "It has, Martin. I wish it didn't have to end."

Martin felt a surge of courage. "Maybe it doesn't have to. We can keep in touch, visit each other. I don't want to lose what we have."

Daisy smiled, a tear slipping down her cheek. "Neither do I."

As the memory replayed in his mind, Martin lay in his bed, tears finally escaping down his cheeks. The pain of losing Daisy and the confusion of his feelings for Aviva and Koki left him feeling more alone than ever. Despite the comfort Koki had offered, the memories of his past love continued to haunt him, making sleep an elusive comfort.

The pain of losing Daisy and the confusion of his feelings for Aviva and Koki left him feeling more alone than ever. Despite the comfort Koki had offered, the memories of his past love continued to haunt him, making sleep an elusive comfort.

Chris couldn't believe how well the evening was going. He had been planning this date for weeks, wanting everything to be perfect for Aviva. When she stepped out for a moment, he was already thinking of another surprise to make the night even more special. Martin had agreed to play "Greensleeves" again, and Chris knew how much Aviva loved the song.

As Aviva returned, Chris greeted her with a warm smile, eager to continue their evening. Martin began to play the guitar, his angelic voice filling the room with the beautiful melody. Chris looked at Aviva, his heart swelling with affection.

Seizing the moment, Chris leaned in to kiss her, his heart racing with anticipation. Aviva met his lips with hers, and Chris felt a rush of warmth and joy. The kiss was sweet and gentle, and it filled him with a sense of happiness and fulfillment.

"Isn't this great?" Chris said, his voice full of enthusiasm. "I'm so glad you're here with me, Aviva."

The pain of losing Daisy and the confusion of his feelings for Aviva and Koki left him feeling more alone than ever. Despite the comfort Koki had offered, the memories of his past love continued to haunt him, making sleep an elusive comfort.

When Martin finished the song, Chris noticed him heading out of the room but thought nothing of it. He was too focused on Aviva and the next surprise he had planned. With a heart full of joy, he leaned in again, this time more determined. As his lips met hers, he felt a rush of warmth and affection, completely unaware of the inner turmoil she might be experiencing.

Aviva returned to the room, determined to enjoy her date with Chris despite the confusion and pain she felt after seeing Martin with Koki. As she sat down, Martin's voice filled the room again, singing "Greensleeves." The familiar melody tugged at her heart, and she couldn't help but glance at Martin, wondering why he looked so sad and why his eyes seemed to hold a secret pain.

Chris leaned in to kiss her, and this time, Aviva met him halfway, kissing him on the mouth in an attempt to make Martin jealous. She felt a pang of guilt, knowing that Chris had done so much to make this evening special. She tried to push her feelings for Martin aside, focusing on the effort Chris had put into their date.

"Isn't this great?" Chris said, his voice brimming with excitement. "I'm so glad you're here with me, Aviva."

She smiled, hoping to hide her inner conflict. "Yes, Chris, it's wonderful. Thank you."

As Martin's song ended, she watched him leave the room, feeling a mixture of sadness and longing. Chris, still caught up in the moment, leaned in again. This time, Aviva didn't turn away. She let him kiss her, their lips meeting in what should have been a tender, romantic moment.

But as they kissed, her mind drifted back to Martin. She couldn't shake the image of him with Koki, and it tore at her heart. She wished things were different, that Martin could see her the way she saw him. She hoped that maybe, just maybe, making him a little jealous would stir something in him.

Back in his room, Martin lay on his bed, the emotional exhaustion weighing heavily on him. He wanted to sleep, to escape the memories and feelings that were overwhelming him, but his mind refused to let go. The memory of his first kiss with Daisy played over and over in his head, a bittersweet reminder of a love lost.

Suddenly, he felt a comforting hand on his back, gently massaging his tense muscles. He looked up to see Koki standing there, her expression full of concern and warmth.

"Martin, it's okay," Koki said softly. "I'm here for you."

The gentle touch and the soothing presence of Koki helped Martin finally relax. He felt his eyes grow heavy, and despite his efforts to stay awake, he drifted off to sleep, his body finally giving in to the exhaustion.

As Martin fell asleep, Koki continued to gently massage his back, her feelings for him intensifying with each passing moment. She had always cared deeply for Martin, but tonight, seeing his vulnerability and being able to comfort him made her feelings grow stronger.

She wondered why she felt so strongly. Was it really love, or just pure adoration for someone she admired so much? Koki pondered this, her heart aching with a mix of emotions. She knew that whatever her feelings were, she would always be there for Martin, supporting him through his pain and hoping that one day he might find happiness again.

For now, she was content to be by his side, watching over him as he slept, her heart filled with love and a fierce desire to protect him from the pain that haunted him.

Psalm 91:4-6- "He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday."
