Even though Clarke was very confident of what she wanted to happen that evening with Lexa, it didn't mean she wasn't going to act prudently. Things were definitely better between them but they just couldn't jump into bed and simply ignore the incident that occurred; it didn't seem appropriate to Clarke. She racked her brain for hours trying to come up with a way to break the ice and move forward at a more natural pace. 'What can I do' she questioned herself as she got ready to take her shower. Right then and there, in the middle of her spacious bathroom, an idea pops up. Clarke begins to smirk as she stares at a particular area of the room; she already knew what to do.

After leaving the throne room Lexa spent the rest of the day getting ready for her sleepover with Clarke. It turned out to be more stressful than she originally thought. 'Should I wear a nightgown like I did the previous occasion? Nah too sexy' she quickly dismisses as she doesn't think it's the proper time to assume things about their status in the sex area. 'My usual warrior attire? Nope, too formal. It's a night out with my girl, not a meeting.' She shakes her head at her own stupidity. 'Pajamas? Ugh fuck.' It all started on a bad note but as the time approaches to go, she chooses a simple pair of black pants and dark blue sweater.

Finally, when she reaches Clarke's chamber, Lexa is a bundle of nerves. They have been getting along really well lately and that was certainly a promising sign, nevertheless, she knew better than to take anything from granted. So putting expectations aside and allowing things to run its course, she knocks on the door.

Soon enough, Clarke invites Lexa inside wearing only a robe.

The view before her is to die for, Lexa has to admit. She doesn't respond momentarily, as she finds herself out of words; busy remembering what's under that singular garment.

"I was about to take a bath," Clarke informs. "Wanna join me?" The question is delivered in a seductive subtle way.

"Oh um…" Lexa thinks for a few seconds. Actually, having a bath sounds wonderful. She hasn't had a proper one in a while. She could easily have taken a bath in the shower room of the young warrior's dormitory but the lack of privacy was always a turn-off, so she usually opted for a quick shower instead. She could enjoy the relaxing sensation of warm water to wash away the tension and stress of the past weeks; all in the company of her favorite person. "Yeah, it sounds perfect."

With a triumphant sly grin, Clarke extends her hand to Lexa and carefully leads them into the already prepared bathroom. Given that she is the one in charge of the situation Clarke takes the initiative and once they are standing in front of the tub she disrobes allowing the garment to fall on the floor without much fanfare.

Lexa takes the hint, and begins undressing; a task that's proving to be hard to do since her eyes refuse to detach from Clarke's naked body.

It is a solemn moment for the both of them, being nude in front of each other as it has been awhile. They stand face to face for a few seconds, admiring each other's raw beauty.

After a reasonable time, Clarke gestures with a tilt of her head for Lexa to climb into the tub first, which she does promptly.

The water at the perfect temperature feels amazing on Lexa's strained muscles but nothing compares to the contact of Clarke's skin on hers.

Both let out long sighs of relief at the contact.

Clarke immediately searches for a comfortable position to settle in, and when she does Lexa puts her arms around her and brings Clarke's body to her chest.

There, in the tub, with Clarke between Lexa's legs, leaning her back on her and Lexa embracing Clarke, they feel utter tranquility.

Between comfortable silence and light conversation, after an hour later they decide it's enough bathing. They quickly dry themselves off and go back into the bedroom where the tension and nervousness make its reappearance.

Clarke doesn't want to lose the ambiance they already obtained; so she tries to come up with something else to make things easier. Clarke scans the room and luckily she sees it. "Hey," she walks over to the sound system and quickly finds a song to play. "Dance with me."

Lexa is pleasantly surprised by the request. This night promises to be full of surprises, and she is all for it. "I'm not a good dancer" she warns as she takes Clarke's hand once again. "This is technically my second attempt," Lexa states clearly, recalling their second date which had included dinner and dancing.

"Oh well…" Clarke chuckles, placing her arm around Lexa's hip -like she did back then- assuming the usual ballroom dance position. "Don't worry about it, I'm gonna be your guide."

The soft tune resonates around them as they slowly sway in place; the state of nakedness that they are currently in only making them feel closer than ever. A few minutes into it and after spending most of the time gazing into each other eyes, Lexa is unable to hold herself back any longer, and leans in and takes Clarke's lips in hers.

The kiss is very welcomed by Clarke who even deepens it more; getting lost in it for a while.

Now lacking any patience and driven by passion, Lexa slowly begins to maneuver both of them toward the bed.

"Wait!" Clarke interjects when her calves hit the edge of her bed. "Wait a sec." She detaches from Lexa's lips.

Lexa stops immediately in a panic, thinking she upset Clarke. "Fuck Clarke are you OK? I'm sorry I didn't mean to…"

"Shhh…" Clarke puts a finger upon Lexa's lips. "I just… I need to know something," she suddenly asks, insecurely.

"What is it?" Lexa questions with noticeable worry in her eyes.

The blonde remains thoughtful for a moment, considering her words before expressing it in a soft voice. "You're not gonna do that again right? Regardless of what I say or how mad we are at each other… you're not gonna sleep with another girl, right?"

"Of course not!" Lexa's first instinct is to frantically defend herself from what she sees as an accusation but she quickly notices the desperation in Clarke's question; the look of vulnerability on her face. She exhales, pushing away any negative emotions, 'this is not about me, this is for her. She needs reassurance and certainty from me,' with that in mind Lexa takes a sedated stand this time. "I'm not gonna be with anyone else but you Clarke, I promise."

Clarke nods still a bit tense. "Good, because if you ever wanna do something like that again with anyone else, you first have to let me know."

Lexa shakes her head, taken aback. "What?"

"If you feel like being with, I don't know another young girl or something, you have to tell me and we can discuss it."

"Clarke…"

"It's gonna be hard for me but I'm willing to…"

"Stop..."

"… let you explore, as long as you come back to me. After that, I can try to…"

"Clarke, stop. Please stop!" Lexa raises her voice to cut Clarke off, not willing to listen to that nonsense anymore.

It does the trick; Clarke closes her mouth effectively ending her rant.

They stay quiet, affected by the intensity of what just happened.

Then a confession breaks the silence, almost a plea that hits Lexa to her very core.

"I don't wanna lose you."

Lexa closes her eyes and gulps down the knot that formed in her throat. And what follows doesn't help at all with her feelings.

"I'm scared OK?" Clarke admits above a whisper. "I lost you once in the middle of a war and the real possibility of the end of the world. I'm certainly not gonna lose you again over something as trivial as a simple crush or carnal desires."

That was enough to make Lexa react, aware that Clarke needs more than simple reassuring and sweet words; clearly conscious of how her actions truly affected Clarke. And she has to try and fix it somehow. She takes hold of Clarke's face firmly with both hands, making sure she looks at her in the eyes before declaring. "You're a fool Clarke of the Sky people. Can't you see that you fell from the sky only to be with me? Don't you realize that my heart has been yours since the moment I laid eyes on you for the first time? That my body faded but my soul refused to let you go?"

Clarke listens intently, clinging to every word coming out of Lexa' mouth.

"And I'm here Clarke. I came back for you because I love you and no one else." Lexa releases Clarke's face to take her hands in hers and continues. "I don't want to share my body with anyone else but you; I belong to you, Clarke Griffin."

She wasn't particularly expecting to hear that, but now that she did, Clarke can't deny how much she needed it. If she had any hesitations or reservations still hanging inside herself it all disappeared with the sincerity in Lexa's eyes. There are numerous things she could say to express how she feels about this intimate promise but she chooses to let actions speak for her. "Come here." Clarke pulls Lexa by the nape of her neck and connects their mouths in a hungry kiss.

Lexa reciprocates with the same hunger.

With them overcoming the little impasse, Clarke is the one now continuing what she had interrupted earlier. She draws Lexa towards her body and pulls her down on the bed so the brunette can be on top of her.

They instinctively shift their bodies to the middle of the bed where they feel more comfortable and begin making out with abandon. When things get heated, their bodies move in unison creating some pleasurable friction. Moans and heavy breathing are the sounds that take possession of the commander's bedroom.

Used to taking control over any situation, Clarke reaches for Lexa's hand in an attempt to guide her movements.

But Lexa is having none of that "nuh uh." She gets a hold of Clarke's wrist.

Clarke groans, trying to free herself.

"I said…" Lexa applies more pressure and quickly reaches for Clarke's other wrist successfully immobilizing it too. "…no" she then pins Clarke's arms above her head.

"Lexa, please," Clarke complains desperately.

"Shhh. You have to learn to let go, baby," Lexa coos as she runs her palms along Clarke's arms to get her to relax, "please allow me to take care of you."

The need to struggle is present, but the suggestion is also very appealing. Clarke ponders for a few seconds but ultimately gives in. She takes a deep breath and simply nods to let Lexa know she can go ahead.

With a tiny smile of appreciation, Lexa leans in and gives Clarke a peck on the lips before beginning her exploration. She starts by giving soft kisses on Clarke's skin, starting at her neck and gradually moving lower. Her idea is to do it as slow and torturous as possible to tease her girlfriend and drive her insane.

It works.

Clarke squirms over the furs of her bed, doing her best not to move her arms that are still above her head. She focuses on enjoying the attention she's getting which in fact is nothing but delicious.

Lexa continues her sensuous work all over Clarke's body; now letting her hands roam around too. At some point, she lets her tongue slide to give more intensity to her loving. The moment she makes contact with salty skin, Lexa submerges into a place she had been missing for so long. "Clarke…" the name slips from her mouth like a prayer as the flavor of her woman penetrates her taste buds.

It's not long since Lexa began but Clarke is already on overload. She can't contain the groans and moans at the feel of Lexa's warm and wet tongue over her hot skin especially when she can feel more than a simple physical act in Lexa's ministrations. She can feel Lexa trying to convey her love. "Baby…" She whispers knowing that her body is not only being tended to sexually but also being worshipped.

Clarke's sounds let Lexa know Clarke understood her silent and loving message and that sends a wave of pleasure to her core. At that precise moment, Lexa becomes aware of something: contrary to what biology says the throbbing in-between her legs is anything but sexual. She can sense its something deeper than that, spiritual even. The conclusion is clearer than water; they are meant to be, they are soul mates, this is pure love. 'How could I ever risk something like this?' Lexa chastises herself. 'What I experienced with Orita was merely superficial, over my skin; so raw, so physical… but what I'm feeling right now is unlike anything I have ever experienced' she marvels. 'I can feel it running from my heart to my brain to all my senses until all I can think and feel is… Clarke.'

It is a wonderful revelation that Lexa will forever treasure in her heart.

Just then, her face reaches Clarke's center causing her to exhale loudly. Her plans of prolonging Clarke's sweet agony are thrown out of the window as her nostrils make contact with the smell of Clarke's arousal.

When Lexa's warm breath hits her sex, Clarke loses all self-control. She reaches for Lexa's head, sinking her fingers in dark hair, coaxing Lexa to go further.

An offer Lexa has no plans of refusing. She delicately extends her tongue making contact with Clarke's wetness, groaning at the sensation. She traces the contours of Clarke's lips first in a familiar motion, knowing exactly how Clarke likes it. When her blonde lover raises her hips involuntarily, clutching at her hair desperately she knows she won't take too long. Lexa puts both her hands on each side of Clarke's hips to keep her in place and directs her tongue solely on one point: Clarke's clit. She licks and licks the bundle of nerves for barely a few seconds sending Clarke into a powerful orgasm. Then another and another.

That same line of gratification continued for a couple of hours, where Lexa focused only on giving Clarke pleasure, not allowing her to do anything.

Satiated and worn down, Clarke lies on her back, basking in Lexa's caresses on her face to help her come down from her high. "Give me five minutes, I promise you I'm gonna rock your world," Clarke assures with eyes still closed.

Lexa chuckles and continues her attention though with something on her mind, something she has been contemplating shortly after she reunited with Clarke. It has been a struggle for her to even entertain the idea, having in mind all the circumstances and her previous position as a commander. She considers whether to voice it but ultimately her need to communicate with Clarke wins over. "Clarke," she calls tentatively.

"Hm?"

"Why don't we go? You know, try to find our own way away from everybody."

Clarke's eyes pop open at the words. She looks at Lexa as if she has grown another head.

"I mean not right now," Lexa rushes to lessen the blow. "I understand the gravity of what I'm asking you, this is something very delicate and we can totally discuss it and think about in the long run; like a possibility you know?"

When Clarke only stares at her expectantly, Lexa takes it as a sign to carry on. "You said once we could be together if we didn't owe anything to our people and well the Lexa that did owe it to her people died fighting for them until her last breath. I was reborn free from that responsibility; now my life is only mine to live. And you paid your debt with them by bringing them peace, by forming a new society that has a promising future; there is nothing else for you to do; you can easily give the command to someone capable and it wouldn't change what you've already achieved." She pauses briefly as she is momentarily invaded by recollections to then asseverate. "Clarke you are also free. We are not just surviving now, we are living."

There are a lot of things Clarke wants to say right now, many things on her mind but she refrains from saying them, instead, humoring Lexa's proposal. "And go where?" She asks nonchalantly.

"I don't know; we could find a quiet place to live near the forest or maybe travel with the nomads; you know they are good people, they would make great companions." Lexa is becoming excited at the prospect so she begins rambling. "We could have the adventures we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy together Clarke! Maybe doing our own exploration farther from the confines of Polis, like the royal riders. Who knows what we could find there! Or if you prefer we could settle down in one place and … start a family." She finishes shyly.

Clarke starts squinting rapidly, stunned by what she just heard. "You want to start a family?"

"Of course, Clarke!" Lexa asserts as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, "I want to do everything with you."

The candor in Lexa's eyes, almost innocent like, puts a smile on Clarke's face. She honestly never went past the idea of them being together as a couple for the simple reason that she was giddily living the present, barely accepting this was real. Let alone ever fantasizing about having a family together. Although now that Lexa mentioned it, sounds really nice. 'Would she look more like me or Lexa?' The thought makes Clarke giggle with new found expectations. 'But for us to achieve that I would have to…' and suddenly the proposition Lexa just presented came back full force on her mind like a heavyweight. However, Clarke decides to set it aside for the time being to focus on the matters that are more enjoyable. "You know what? I feel more energized now." She wiggles her eyebrows.

Lexa takes the hint. Clarke doesn't want to talk about it now and she understands. Asking Clarke basically to renounce command is not an easy suggestion and she knows it, probably more than anyone does. Nevertheless, she had to do it, had to try. She's aware this could lead to an argument later on or a big negative from her girlfriend but she felt she had to be fair and tell Clarke exactly what she had in mind. The rest she would leave to destiny. "Is that so?" For now she decides to let it go and lose herself in the beauty of their reconnection, allowing Clarke to push her back down onto the furs.

They spent a long pleasant night that alternated between lovemaking and short naps. By the time morning arrived, they were happily exhausted yet in the mood for more sharing.

"So… your birthday is coming up soon," Clarke comments from her place while cuddling Lexa.

"Yeah," a dreamy grin graces Lexa's lips. "This is definitely gonna be the best one of all cause I'm gonna spend it with you."

Clarke feels tremendously touched by the sincere declaration. She holds Lexa tighter from behind, as a sign of her content. "I'm happy to spend it with you too." Clarke chooses to concentrate on the present and omit her past feelings whenever Lexa's birthday was approaching. "So um, how would you like to celebrate it? Big dinner at the banquette hall? A quiet get together with your peers at the young warrior's common room? Although with your parents coming, maybe you want to do something more intimate?" Clarke throws out all the possibilities for Lexa to choose from.

"Oh, I've been thinking about it," Lexa turns, leaning on her side, to face Clarke. "And I guess first I would like us to hang out with my parents and Adam; I mean if you're available." She cringes playfully.

"Baby it's your birthday, your first birthday with me; I will absolutely have my day totally cleared for you." She pecks Lexa's nose. "But wouldn't you like to have some time alone with them? I'm sure you have lots to catch up on or something."

"Oh don't worry, there will be plenty of time for that; they plan to stay for a week."

"Oh, a week." Clarke is a bit nervous about the presence of Lexa's parents, evidently still concerned about their opinion regarding their relationship. She loves Lexa and because of the relationship, she's got to care a lot about Lexa's family. Commander or not it's very important to her to be accepted by them; it would break her heart if she perceives any kind of negativity or tension among them. 'Let's see what happens.' Clarke decides to wait for their arrival in Polis to make a judgment and not jump to any conclusions. "Sounds like a mini vacation," she pretends she's cool with the plan. "We'll make sure they have a good time."

Lexa beams, "yeah! That would be my idea for the morning and afternoon, but at night, I kinda want something else," she hints mischievously.

"OK?" Clarke chuckles already curious. "What would that be?" She props herself on one elbow and listens carefully to her girl's wish.

"I'm not even sure if you can cause, of course, you are a busy woman," Lexa starts tentatively. "But I would really like to have a Sky people's party." She presents her request half-excited and half-hesitant.

"A Sky people's party," the word party alone is certainly unexpected for Clarke, but the second is plain shocking. "You want to have a party, Sky-like party?" She has to verify.

"Uh huh" Lexa nods eagerly.

"Why?" It's not a reproach but a genuine question.

The explanation is very simple, at least in Lexa's point of view. "Well, I just would like to experience your way of celebrating, you know? I think that would help me understand you more, be closer to you," she shrugs.

Clarke can only gaze at her younger lover with awe. For a moment there, she wonders if her cuteness and curiosity were also perks of Commander Lexa or things acquired in her new upbringing. 'I guess I will probably never know.' She concludes with a hint of melancholy. Either way, she goes ahead with what she can enjoy currently. "Aren't you just fucking romantic?" Clarke lets out in a sultry but loving voice.

"I try," Lexa smirks, leaning forward a little to connect their lips in a sweet kiss.

"I thought you should know I actually haven't gone to many parties," Clarke admits when they part.

"Whatever information you have will suffice, at least it is more than the one I have," Lexa supplies optimistically.

"Hmm," Clarke pretends to be thinking hard about it, but ultimately concedes. "Fine! If my girl wants a party, she will have her party!"

"I knew it!" Lexa exclaims in victory. "Thank you for this! I hope it's not too much work for you."

"Nothing is too much work if it's for you Lexa," Clarke declares. "Besides I have the perfect people to help me out." She makes a mental note to do her own research on her computer's database and to contact Raven.

"You're such a good girlfriend, Clarke," Lexa remarks while peeling Clarke from her covers. "Now allow me to thank you properly."

The promising expression of gratitude aids Clarke into postponing the planning in her head to make way for another round of well-deserved lovemaking marathon.
