Chapter 56

Mind Reader

Edward

I was playing my newly purchased grand piano when Rosie came into our house. I didn't look up from the keys.

"Where have you been, my dear?", I asked.

When she had opened a letter, she had suddenly stormed out of the house and hidden her thoughts. I thought she was just going hunting and had not followed her. But she stayed away longer than I thought.

She didn't answer and I turned my head to look at her.

"Rosie, what happened?"

Her beautiful black dress she was wearing had some rips and she clearly looked angry.

"SHE!" she said, and it was more of a hiss than anything else.

I focused on her thoughts.

Bella, wild as a newborn, slammed Rosalie against a rock, the wolves were there.

'Sign!'

Bella's hand with an engagement ring.

Bella's eyes black with anger.

One of the wolves attacked Rose.

Rose spat in Bella's face.

Bella as she flung Rose into the air and knocked her to the ground.

Bella, banging her knee into Rosalie's stomach. Emmett holding out the papers to her.

'Now sign or I'll leave and let Bella and the wolves figure out what to do with you.'

What was going on? Why stood Bella so close to the wolves even though she was turned? Those filthy stinking mutts. Was Emmett threatening my Rosie? Was he really threatening her with the wolves. Since when did he trust the dogs? And what was with the ring on Bella's finger?

"He turned her?!", I asked.

I recognized her immediately, even though she looked different now, beautiful, pale, strong. Her voice was like a chime. But her heart no longer beat, no blood flowed through her veins. If she was like that, I no longer loved her. He had taken the Bella I loved away from me forever. How dare he! She was my singer; her blood was meant for me! She as a human being was meant for me. He had no right to change her.

'Yes ... and they want to get married!' Rose shouted in hermind.

I saw myself in her thoughts.

I looked just as angry as she did.

Angrily, I folded the wing shut.

"What were you supposed to sign?" I asked her as I remembered Bella's furious face as she screamed at my rose.

'Divorce,' echoed in her thoughts.

Actually, it was clear that she had to divorce him.

"Dearest, why are you so upset? It was bound to happen sooner or later anyway. Or weren't you planning on ever marrying me?", I asked.

'Yes, Eddy, you know how much I love you! Of course I want you to take me as your wife!'

She came flying to me and kissed me with her perfect full lips.

'I just don't want him to marry SHE. And I don't like that he is getting married before me! That it is he who sends the divorce papers to me and not the other way around. It should be me who has the upper hand, who files for divorce. Not him!' Rosalie's thoughts just flooded through. 'I thought Emmett was weak. I thought I could always go back to him when I needed him.'

This thought was only in her head for a second.

Of course she wanted to hide him from me. I knew exactly what she meant by 'if she needed him'. However, I also knew that she had never seriously considered cheating on me. That's how well I knew her thoughts. She would have no reason to either - just like with Emmett. I gave her everything she needed. I lived in the same time as she did. We were soul mates.

She looked down in shame.

'You know I would never do it,' she thought.

I nodded and hugged her.

"No one knows better, dearest," I said, kissing her.

'I only want you!' she thought, and I immediately saw how she wanted me.

I lifted her up on the bed and started kissing her body. I tore away the black dress and kissed her belly and thighs. She moaned and pulled me up again.

We united in absolute perfection. Our bodies were made for each other.

Three hours later we were both naked on the bed.

Rose looked at me.

'I love you,' she thought honestly.

"I love you too, my love," I replied.

She went over the last three hours in her mind contentedly and smiled happily.

'Sometimes it's really handy when you read my every wish in my mind,' she thought, chuckling softly.

"I don't need to read your mind for that, beauty. We are two parts of a whole. We complement each other perfectly. I know what you desire even without your thoughts."

'You ...,' came to her mind and I smiled wryly.

"I know."

Her thoughts flew back to our topic before we had landed in bed.

'What do we do about it now?'

"I don't know. I guess we can't prevent it anymore, although I really feel like crashing the wedding. I don't care about Bella now that she's not human anymore. And your ex-husband ... honestly, I'd like to strangle him with my own hands for it. But we can't make any concrete plans," I said.

'Alice!' popped into her head and I nodded.

She would see it if we came, and little Alice would do anything to keep her wedding from falling through. Besides, Esmé and Carlisle were too good to ruin the party for them.

"We should come either before or after the wedding ... and meet them alone. I don't want Esmé or Carlisle to be involved."

'Neither do I. But what are we going to do? The Volturi?'

The last flitted again only unconsciously through her thoughts.

"I don't know yet, but they have not broken any law. We can't ask the Volturi," I said to her.

She shook her head.

'No, I wasn't thinking of the Volturi in that context,' she thought.

What did she mean then?

Without me having to ask her, she kept thinking.

'You know that I often have the thought of going to them. It is not so bad. Aro would be happy to have your company.'

She thought briefly about the time when she was kidnapped. She was not treated badly.

'The Volturi are actually very civilized, except for the human blood.'

I shook my head.

"I don't know yet, Rose. Maybe, maybe not. Let's first try to prevent the connection of these two ...", I said and started kissing her again.
