Luna lead Ginny to the open place in the forbidden forest where the thestrals live

''Moonflower flourishes on thestral manure'' she said ''Thestral manure?'' Ginny asked '' What the hell is a thestral?''

''There!'' Luna yelled ''There is the moonflower!'' Luna ran towards it, but before she could grab it, a gnome sprinted out of a bush, grabbed the moonflower and ran away laughing. '' A little help?'' Luna asked the sky. Ginny thought Luna had gone totally bonkers now, but she couldn't help to also think Luna was really cool. ''Now what?'' Ginny asked. '' We wait'' Luna replied ''The thestrals will help us.

Luna sat down on a tree stump '' What do you want to do?'' she asked.

''We could play…. Truth or dare?'' Ginny said. ''That sounds fun!'' Luna exclaimed while bouncing on the treestump. ''I'll go first! Uhm, truth or dare?''

''Dare'' Ginny said confidently. ''I dare you….'' Luna started while looking around ''I dare you to climb that tree!''

''Easy!'' Giny huffed and quickly climbed up and down the tree

''Now you, truth or dare?''

''Truth'' Luna said.

''Okay'' Ginny said ''What do you think of Harry?''

''He's a great teacher and very brave'' Luna answered. '' I think he has it in him to defeat the dark lord. What about you? What do you think of Harry?''

''That's not how this game is played!'' Ginny quickly replied as she started to blush.

''Okay, truth or dare?'' Luna asked

''Dare'' Ginny replied. '' I dare you to tell me why you blushed as I mentioned Harry'' Luna said.

''Fine!'' Ginny said as she plopped down on the ground ''I think Harry is very…. He's a very…. Good… Quidditch player….'' She started drawing stick figures in the sand with her wand ''I don't think that's all'' Luna teasingly said. ''I think you fancy him''

''Me?'' Ginny yelled as she darted up'' Fancying Harry? No! He's just a friend and, and… No! He's Rons best friend! Besides…. He's too busy slobbering with Cho Chang to notice I even exist!''

''You want him to notice you, don't you?'' Luna asked.

''I mean, it'd be nice!'' Ginny said while fidgeting with her hair ''He's kind of…. Hot? ''

''I think he thinks you're more than that'' Luna said, trying to cheer Ginny up ''Harry just does not realize you see him in that way.''

''Yeah, perhaps'' Ginny said ''But enough about me, do you fancy someone?''

''Filch'' Luna said while trying to keep a straight face. The two girls laughed.

''But to answer your question,'' Luna continued, ''No, I don't. Never had either. I've never even had my first kiss yet''

''Do you want to?'' Ginny asked ''Because I'm sure we could find you someone to kiss over the summer! We could cast an aging spell on ourselves and go to a muggle disco together. I heard from my brother Bill that that's how muggles find people to kiss!''

''I would prefer my first kiss to be with a friend instead of some stranger in a disco'' Luna replied. ''Maybe I could kiss Nevile Longbottom?''

''Neville is a nice guy, but he'd faint if a pretty girl like you kissed him. No, you need a confident kisser!'' Ginny said. '' Someone who has some experience!''

''What about your brother Ron?'' Luna asked

'' No way you're snogging my brother! Besides, he has the emotional range of a teaspoon, according to Hermione. We have to think! There has to be someone'' Ginny said while scratching the back of her head ''What if… ? No. That's insane!''

''Tell me!'' Luna demanded.

''I was just thinking,'' Ginny said'' What if I kissed you? Just a quick peck so you have it over with.'' Ginny quickly turned around '' But as I said, that'd be insane''

''I don't think so'' Luna had gotten up and was now standing right behind Ginny.

Ginny turned around and before she knew it, Luna put her arms on Ginny's shoulders and kissed her passionately on the lips. Ginny didn't know what was happening to her, but it felt oh so right. She tasted Luna's strawberry flavored lip balm , opened her mouth a bit and Luna followed. Their tongues met each other and started dancing together'' Ginny pulled Luna closer to her and started stroking her hair. Luna finally felt the butterflies she had heard people talk about so many times. She never wanted this moment to end, but unfortunately, the two students were rudely interrupted by a voice saying '' Well, well, well. I knew Loonie Lovegood was crazy, but a lesbian? I thought that was too crazy, even for you!'' They jumped at the sight of Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle walking towards them. ''Didn't your daddy teach you not to spy on people? ''How dare you talk about my father like that? '' Draco yelled '' Ricte'' But he was interrupted by Luna casting Levicorpus on him.

Draco flew up in the air and was hanging upside down from his ankle.

Crabbe and Goyle drew their wands, but were quickly blown away by a perfectly aimed Reducto cast by Ginny. The two bullies quickly ran back towards the castle, forgetting their leader who was still hanging upside down. Luna broke her levicorpus spell and Draco fell flat on his face. ''Boo!'' Ginny yelled at him and Draco ran away in terror.

''He's probably going to fetch Filch or Umbridge'' Ginny said ''We should leave''

''But what about the moonflower?'' Luna asked

''We'll figure something out'' Ginny confidently said, even though she had no idea how she'd acquire a moonflower.

As the two girls walked past Hagrid's hut, Malfoy returned followed by Filch

''Yes, they viciously attacked me unprovoked, mister Filch!'' he said as they walked towards the forbidden forest. Suddenly Hagrid opened his door and gestured for the girls to come in, which they quickly did. Malfoy and Filch walked past the house without realizing the girls had hidden inside and entered the forbidden forest.

''So? What were the two of you doing in the forbidden forest?'' Hagrid asked in a strict tone

''We were uhm, looking for a….'' Ginny stammered. She was always a bit intimidated by Hagrid's physique

''Just for the record'' Hagrid continued ''I did see the two of you snogging and heard Malfoy say some rather mean things to miss Lovegood over here'' Hagrid said, pointing to Luna who was cuddling with Fangs on his pillow ''So I think he deserved to fall on his face. ''

''Snogging?'' Ginny exclaimed? ''We would never!''

''I know what I saw'' Hagrid said '' And I don't care. I just think there are saver places to make out at than the forbidden forest ''

''We were just visiting the thestrals'' Luna said ''I know their manure is very good for moonflowers''

''Moonflowers?'' Hagrid asked '' You could've said that right away!'' and he opened a cabinet filled with various jars of plants. ''I think I have some… Yes, here they are!'' Hagrid pulled out a jar filled with dried moonflowers. ''How many do you need?''

''Two would be great, mister Hagrid'' Ginny said

''Call me Hagrid'' Hagrid said with a smile. ''Now, I think it's time the two of you left for the castle, it's getting late!''

The following few weeks were filled with Ginny and Luna sneaking eachother secret looks during class, writing each other notes and sneaking off to the room of requirement whenever they had some free time.

Ginny didn't want to admit she might have bisexual feelings, but Luna was all for it. She started wearing bi-flag earrings, told everybody that would listen about her secret girlfriend and drew Ginny pictures on pieces of parchment. She was up on cloud nine.

''What's that in your neck?'' Ron asked Ginny one morning during breakfast. ''Nothing!'' Ginny quickly said as she tried to hide the hickey ''Who put that on you? ''Ron demanded. ''My little sister has a damn hickey!''

''It was, uhm… Michael!'' She said as she grabbed Michael Corner who just walked by, and kissed him on the lips. ''He's my boyfriend! Problem with that?'' Ginny asked in a bitchy tone.

''I am?'' Michael asked. ''Yes, shut up'' Ginny responded

''No, uhm. Congratulations… I guess'' Ron said as he turned around and left the great hall. Ginny followed Ron with her eyes, but then saw Luna standing in the doorway, bawling her eyes out.

''Oh fuck'' Ginny whispered to herself and she ran towards Luna, who ran out of the great hall.

''Luna! Luna please, I can explain!'' Ginny yelled while following Luna up the stairs, but Luna just kept running.

Soon, the two girls entered moaning Myrtle's bathroom and Luna hid in a stall.

''Luna, please! Come out, I want to explain''

''Sounds to me like you're the one that doesn't want to come out!'' Luna yelled through her tears.

Ginny fell down to her knees and started crying too '' You're right. I'm not ready for all this'' Ginny said ''I love you. I really do, I feel things I've never felt when I'm with you'' Ginny continued '' I'm just not ready to be out to the world and when Ron saw the hickey you gave me, I panicked and kissed Michael. I'm sorry. Can you forgive me?''

''I don't know'' Luna said '' Leave me alone''

''Okay…'' Ginny quietly said ''Love you''

The next few days were rough, Ginny tried to make amends with Luna, but Luna seemed to ignore her. The fact that Ginny had to deal with Michael Corner now too didn't help either.

After a long day of lessons and a rough quidditch training, Ginny fell down on her bed, but felt something hard poking her butt. She pulled away the covers and saw a small box laying on her bed with a letter on top.

It read:

''Dear Ginny,

You are correct, I moved too fast and was too intense. I'm sorry.

I don't ever want to lose you in life, but holding on to hope is too painful. I will love you forever, but it's better to be just friends for now. I wish you and Michael the best of luck. Thanks for being my first kiss and my first love.
