Chapter 17: Karma
You're terrified to look down
What exactly had made Rachel think this disaster of a show was a good idea, Santana would never grasp. She knew why Brittany had liked the script, of course, because if it were meant to be comedic in the most satirical way it was good. Unfortunately, it was in fact not a satire, and thusly, flopped tremendously. Had Santana been there when it was pitched, perhaps they all could've been spared the absolute atrocity that the pilot was, but she was out of state filming a commercial, so she had no say. Worse than that were the repercussions. Her, Brittany and Mercedes were on tour, so when she went to LA, Kurt and Blaine were left in New York essentially alone. It took a toll on their relationship and it crumbled yet again. Santana was tired of seeing Rachel bring other people down when she fell, it was like holding hands while ice skating. But she supposed this was karma's doing, and not much could be done.
It's coming back around
Luckily, Santana was finally on karma's good side. After rekindling her relationship with Brittany and patching things up with Rachel, things had gone incredibly well for her. Her and Brittany were in a great place after the relative success of Mercedes' mall tour, and it felt like her future was finally becoming what she always dreamed. However, first, some time back in Ohio. There wasn't exactly a bed waiting for them in New York anymore, so they'd spend some time in Lima. Besides, she was making a habit of being nice, and Rachel and Kurt needed help with the Glee club. And while she may never admit it again, as she had only a few times during high school, Glee had meant everything to her, and another generation of New Directions was important and deserved. Besides, it was time Karma paid Coach Sue Sylvester a visit, wasn't it?
Karma is a god
Or not. Turns out finding members for the Glee club was even harder now than it had been there sophomore year. Even Kitty, who'd been in the club, wasn't willing to come back, though that was almost entirely Artie's fault. In fact, by the end of the week, they'd only managed to secure four members, which was less than Mr. Schue in his first week, and unlike then when Finn had been one of them, there was only the two most unpopular Cheerios to try and draw people in. Roderick and Jane certainly didn't have the social standing to do so. It was looking like karma was still on the warpath to destroy Rachel. But Santana hoped, and felt, that the tide would change. It had to.
Me and karma vibe like that
The only way Santana could try and help things go in the right direction, was of course to lead by example, and so after hearing Kurt and Rachel's odd plan for a lesson, she hatched an idea. Glee club was the perfect place for her to finally propose to Brittany, in front of all their friends, in the room they fell in love in. And what better way to do so than a song, it had worked for Mr.Schue and Emma, so why not them? A duet would be even better, but she had to be careful, make sure it was casual enough that Brittany didn't catch onto her plan. After all, her girlfriend was a genius. And genius recognized genius.
