Chapter 6: Dinner.
Dash and Violet arrived in a pod to a room within the interior of the volcano. They stepped out and saw Mirage open the door.
"Thanks for inviting us to dinner, Mirage." Violet said.
"My pleasure, children." Mirage said.
They stepped into the dining room and saw a massive spread of their favorite foods laid out.
"All right, chow time!" Dash said before Violet tapped his shoulder.
"Manners, Dash." Violet said.
"Right. Sorry." Dash said.
"It's quite okay. Please, help yourselves." Mirage said.
They then took plates of food and sat.
"Pardon, but where's the host?" Violet asked.
"I'm sorry. He won't be dining with us tonight." Mirage said.
"It's just, Dad always makes it a point to know who he worked for." Violet said.
"He prefers a certain level of anonymity. Surely, the children of a Super are no strangers." Mirage said with a smile.
"One thing I don't understand is why, of all places to live, it would be-" Violet's sentence was finished by Mirage.
"With a volcano? He's attracted to power, just like me. It's a weakness we share." Mirage said.
"I don't know. I think it's pretty cool. It's almost like a superhero lair. Bad guys try to get in, they get burnt to a crisp." Dash said.
"You would think that." Violet said.
Mirage laughed quietly, "You certainly seem to have a lot of imagination, Dash." she said.
"Well, he does read a lot of comic books." Violet said.
Mirage laughed.
After they had finished their meal, Dash and Violet patted their stomachs.
"Delicious." Violet said.
"Yeah. Thank you, Mirage." Dash said.
"You're welcome, children." Mirage said.
"So, just curious, when do we get our pay?" Violet asked.
"Right here." Mirage said as she brandished two envelopes.
"Thank you, Mirage." they both said before they headed for the plane to take them home.
Mirage smiled as she watched them go.
