Chapter 6

"Goodbye, Lightleaf and Redstorm. May you find swift runner, smooth hunting, and shelter when you sleep." Dawnblossom whispered. The bodies of the senior elders were lying in the clearing of camp. The warriors had died due to infection, just like Fernmist.

Duststar and Oakstorm, Redstorm's kits, were sitting together silently, with a shocked expression in their eyes.

"It's time to bury Lightleaf and Redstorm," Jayfang gently meowed to Duststar and Oakstorm."

"I don't want to say goodbye yet," Duststar choked.

"I miss her." Oakstorm meowed.

"We can't have rotting cats in our camp. Especially since I am sorry, but we must take them away and bury them." Jayfang urged.

Dawnblossom got up and stepped towards the cats. "I understand how you're feeling. I never got to know my mother or my father, my mother, Turtlesplash, died during my kitting and my father was unknown. I know you'll miss Redstorm, but think about how bad it could be if you left her corpse in the camp! We would get sick, and possibly die. The prey would be poisoned, and StarClan knows what happens next."

Dawnblossom's words seemed to make Duststar and Oakstorm feel a little better about taking away Redstorm.

"Please, Duststar." Jayfang meowed.

"At sunhigh." He whispered.

Dawnblossom nodded and looked up at the sky. It was a little bit past sunrise, and she felt relieved that the dead cats could be dealt with, and she wouldn't have to worry about sickness spreading.

By the time sunhigh had hit, Cloudysnow, Speckleclaw, Birchskip, Oakstorm, and Duststar had left the camp with Redstorm and Lightleaf's bodies.

Dawnblossom was waiting for Jayfang to dismiss her for her hunting patrol by the bramble rock. She was twitching her tail impatiently when he finally came over and lead his patrol out of the camp.

The plan to drive out the snakes had succeeded, and they were heading to the SunnyClan border to hunt.

Dawnblossom lapped her tongue out and tasted the air. Mouse, she thought.

She tried to locate where the mouse was, and found it near a small tree, next to some roots. She crouched, and kept her eyes focused on the scuffling creature. Then, she leaped and caught the mouse, giving it a swift killing bite. "Thank you StarClan for this prey." She whispered.

"Good catch!" Grayheart, who was on the patrol exclaimed.

"Thanks!" Dawnblossom meowed.

Something hit her. Her Clanmates were fine. She was fine. The territory was fine.

Everything was going to be alright.

The end~

DONE! Another short story finished!

Appreciations to Moonbreeze and raindropp14 who left amazing reviews! You guys are great, and I appreciate the support.

When I was writing this, I felt like it was being very dramatic and a lot to take in, but I felt like I could make it flow easier. I realized the ship DawnblossomXBeechwhisper is almost a replica of BrightheartXCloudtail from the books, but the moment I realized, it was too late! No hate in the reviews please 3

I named the book Twisted Scales, because of the plot twists with Lightstar, Thrushfeather, Stormstar, the snakes, and the senior warriors dying, but also the way that the snakes twisted AcornClan's path this way and that.

Thank you SO much for reading, it is just so amazing to know that there are other Warrior Cats fans out there who are watching my writing grow and change.

Make sure to come back next time, for a new book…
