The Guard and Azaad had just gotten off of the beach and soon entered a forest, however, this forest was not like anything the guard had ever seen. The forest had tall trees and the bark looked almost red. At the top of the trees the branches seemed to form a point and they went from extremely wide to, compared to the start, thin. The group just looked at the trees in awe. All except for Ono of course.
"What? What's so 'woah' and 'Poa'?" Ono squawked.
"Really tall trees, and the bark looks, red?" Beshte said confused, "Huh, I've never seen red trees."
"Really tall, red? Nwaza Nwaza Nwaza" Ono muttered suddenly remembering something Rafiki had told him back before the war with Ushari. "ohhh! They must be Redwood trees"
"Yea, we can see that they're red Ono" Bunga stated
Ono just sighed, "No bunga! They are called redwood trees. Redwoods are one of, if not the tallest tree that there is." Ono explained.
"Ohhhh" Bunga sighed out.
"That makes sense. I don't know how tall these things are." Anga squawked.
"Alright guys, we should get going" Kion explained, "My scar and Ono's eyes wont get better just sitting here."
"Kion's right" Fuli said.
"so is Fuli" Azaad said before grinning at Fuli making her blush. Anga was the only one to notice that.
Anga looked back and forth between Fuli and Azaad for a second and muttered "Hmm..."
"Alright let's go guys." Kion ordered then turned to lead the group to a water hole.
"Kion?" Fuli said "I think we should take a break here for a second"
"Breaks won't help us get to the tree faster Fuli" Kion growled.
"Kion, they need a break, and so do you." Fuli growled back
"ugh, fine" Kion muttered while walking away "Damn cheetahs."
The group started to get in the water and relax or lay on some rocks near the water and lay down, little did they know that someone was watching them.
"Plantagenet" The figure growled quiet enough for nobody to hear.
"Ombre." A leopard whispered, "Should we attack them now?"
"Not yet." Ombre whispered back, "They still don't know I'm alive, and i don't plan on them finding out before we get to the tree."
"Oh, that makes sense" the leopard replied.
"Yes Makucha, yes it does." Ombre said before carefully backing away.
Kion's scar had stopped bothering him after relaxing in the lake for a little while so he decided that the group should stay here for the rest of the day and make one final shot to the Tree of Life.
"Fuli, can i talk to you?" Kion asked
"Um, yea sure." Fuli said before walking over to Kion. The lion motioned for her to follow him. Kion led her to a place out of ear shot from the rest of the guard.
"What's going on Kion?" Fuli asked concerningly.
"I don't think I can lead the guard like I used to." Kion explained with sorrow in his voice.
"What?!" Fuli replied, "Kion, your a great leader."
"But my scar, it makes me look like Scar and-" Kion started
"Kion you aren't Scar. You are Kion. Leader of the Lion Guard, son of King Simba of the Pride lands, Prince of the Pride lands. You are so different from scar." Fuli explained reassuringly.
"But-" Kion muttered
"No but." Fuli interrupted, "We will get to the Tree of Life, and you will be healed."
Kion only nodded before walking over to the lake and looking at his reflection.
"Give in Kion, you are jussst like Ssscar!" A familiar voice hissed in his mind.
"No! Ushari I am nothing like Scar!" He growled back.
"Oh but you are! Did you not sssee the way you talked to Fuli when you firssst got here? You growled at her like ssshe wasss nothing!" Ushari hissed.
"NO!" Kion growled.
Suddenly the voice stopped, Kion kept lookeing at his reflection until he saw the half of his face that had the scar go a little bit darker and his mane turned black, in addition to this his eyes turned green, he looked just like Scar! Kion splashed his paw into the water and when it went still again it was back to normal, orange eyes, red mane, tan fur. When Kion saw this he just let out a sigh of relief.
"I should go back to the rest of the guard" Kion muttered to himself before walking back toward the part of the water hole that the guard was at.
When he got there he said: "We are staying her until morning"
"Zuka Zama!" Bunga exclaimed
"Poa!" Beshte said calmly.
Ombre and his newly acquired followers were looking at the group when this happened.
"We only have to wait until morning." Ombre said with an evil grin on his face.
Author's note: This chapter was just to show the kind of struggles that Kion is going through mentally. Also there might be a slow down on how many chapters I make a week because of sports taking a physical toll on me. Just wanted to put that put there, expect maybe 2 this weekend though.
