A/N: Welcome back to your not-so-regularly scheduled program. It's been two months since I updated this and, I'm gonna be honest, I lost motivation for a bit. However, I am indeed back so please leave feedback on what I could do better or if I'm doing good. I'm splitting this chapter into two parts or else it would be like 5000 words long.
Anyways, I'm your host Tv and welcome to the initiation.
Lie Ren was almost awake and that normally means that he's about to be yelled at by his friend to wake up. This time however, he immediately got up when he heard a girl across the room just scream "WAKE UP SLEEPHEAD!" He then heard a loud thump and heard a guy yell "JESUS CHRIST!" Ren recognized the voice as the guy who made everyone quiet down yesterday. He looked over to where the screaming was and saw a girl with golden hair standing and laughing next to the guy who fell from the window sill when she screamed at him to wake him up.
Ren looked back up and saw his friend Nora Valkyrie. Since he was already up, she did the next part of her routine which is just singing "It's morning, it's morning, it's morning, it's morning." Ren just sighed at her antics.
It cuts to Ren brushing his teeth while Nora is talking to him. "I can't believe we've been at Beacon for a full 24 hours! Not that I thought we'd get kicked out. I mean, you're the perfect student and I'm, well, I'm me, but it's just crazy, you know.
It cuts again to Ren putting away his stuff from the sleeping hall while Nora is talking and brushing her hair. "We've been friends for sooo long. What are the odds we'd still be together. Well, not together-together, not that I'm saying you're not handsome. You are handsome but that would just be weird, right."
It cuts AGAIN to Ren eating his stack of pancakes with a fork and knife while Nora is still talking while having an entire pancake in her mouth. "Right, what was I thinking but still, I hope we end up on the same team together. She then slumped the pancake down and continued talking. "We should come up with some sort of plan to make sure we end up on the same team together. What if we bribe the headmaster? No, that wouldn't work he has a school."
It once again cuts to Ren opening his locker to get the rest of his stuff while Nora is talking behind him. "I know! We'll have some sort of signal, like a distress signal or a secret signal so we can find each other in the forest! Can you imitate a sloth?"
Ren finally spoke. "Nora."
"Yes Ren?" Nora asked.
"I don't think sloths make a lot of noise." He said while making his guns somehow go into his sleeves.
"That's why it's perfect! No one will suspect we're working together!" Nora exclaimed.
"Come on Nora, let's go." Ren tiredly said.
"But not together together." Ren walked off and Nora skipped over to him past Ruby, Yang, and Izuku.
"I wonder what those two were so worked up about." Ruby said.
Yang replied with "Oh, who knows. So, you seem awfully chipper this morning." Yang said to Ruby completely ignoring the death stare Izuku was giving her for waking him up. "Yup, no more awkward small talk or getting to know you stuff. Today I get to let my sweetheart do the talking." Ruby said while picking up Crescent Rose from her locker.
"Remember Ruby, you aren't the only one going through initiation." Said Izuku, finally speaking, "If you want to grow up you're going to have to meet new people and learn to work together."
Ruby then whined out "You sound like my dad! First of all, what does meeting new people have to do with fighting? Second of all, I don't need new people to help me grow, I drink milk." Ruby countered.
"What about when we form teams?" Yang chimed in.
"I'll just be on you or Izuku's team." Ruby said. "Maybe you should try to be on someone else's team." Yang suggested.
"My dearest sister Yang, at you implying that you do not wish to be on the same team as me?" Ruby exclaimed at her older sister.
"What! No. Of course I do. I just thought that, I don't know, maybe it would help you break out of your shell." Yang said nervously.
"What!? I don't need to break out of my shell that is absolutely-" "Ridiculous!" Jaune said while walking in between the two girls with Izuku getting up to follow him. "There's no way I put my gear in locker 636 yesterday."
"You put your stuff next to my locker Jaune." Izuku said. "I would've remembered having to count that high." Jaune said getting increasingly worried. "Again Jaune, your locker is next to mine." "Oh, Why does this have to happen today?" Jaune whined out. "FOR THE LAST TIME JAUNE, YOUR LOCKER IS NEXT TO MINE." Izuku yelled at him.
The two boys ended up walking next to Pyrrha and Weiss who were getting their stuff from their lockers. "So Pyrrha, have you given any thought to whose team you're going to be on? I'm sure everyone must be so eager to unite with such a strong, well-known individual such as yourself." Weiss said. "I'm not quite sure. I was planning on just letting the chips fall where they may." Pyrrha replied with.
"Well, I was thinking maybe we could be on a team together." Weiss suggested.
"Well that sounds grand." "Great!" Weiss then started scheming in a teachers pet kind of way being with perfect grades and the most popular in the school before she was interrupted by Jaune.
"You know what else is great. Me, Jaune Arc. Nice to meet ya." Jaune said while coming over to the two.
"You again?" Weiss said while Pyrrha said "Nice to meet you Jaune."
"Yeah yeah. So, Weiss, couldn't help but over hear your fondness of me the other day." Two voices said, "Oh you've got to be kidding me." The first one was Weiss, facepalming again, but the second one was only heard by Pyrrha. Pyrrha looked to the side of her and saw a boy that was around 5'5 and had bright green eyes and vibrant green hair. Yup, Izuku just appeared again. "Hello." Pyrrha said. "Hi. The name's Izuku Midoriya. Nice to meet ya." Izuku said going back to his cheerful self. "Pyrrha Nikos" She said while wondering how he got there.
Jaune then continued his antics by saying, "Don't worry no need to be embarrassed. So, I've been hearing a lot about teams, i was thinking you and me would make a good one. What do you say?"
Pyrrha shut him down with "Actually, I think the teams are comprised of four students each, so."
"You don't say. Well hot stuff, play your cards right and you could end up on the winning team." Jaune said while approaching Pyrrha. Weiss then went in between them and put a hand on either of their chests to stop Jaune from going forward anymore and said, "Jaune. is it? Do you have any idea who you're talking to?" "Not in the slightest, snow angel." Jayne said. "This is Pyrrha." "Hello again." "She graduated top of her class at Sanctum." Weiss said matter-of-factly. "Never heard of it." Jaune said. Weiss was dumbfounded so she gave another example. "She's won the Mistral Regional Tournaments four years in a row, a new record." "The what?" Jaune asked.
Weiss was at her limit so she just exclaimed "She's on the front of every Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes box."
That got Jaune to gasp. "That's you? They only do that for star athletes and cartoon characters. "Yeah. It was pretty cool. Sadly, the cereal isn't very good for you."
"So, after hearing all of this, do you really think you're in a position to ask her to be on your team?" "I guess not, sorry."
"Actually Jaune, I think you'd make a great leader." "Oh, stop it." Jaune said.
Weiss then walked up from behind June and said "Seriously, stop it. This kid of behavior should not be encouraged!"
"Sounds like Pyrrha's on board for team Jaune. Spots are filling up quick. Now I'm not supposed to do this by, maybe I could pull some strings, find a place for you. What do you say?" "All right, that's a bit too close. Pyrrha, a little help please." Pyrrha then threw her javelin, causing it to catch Jaune's clothes and stick him to the wall. "I'm sorry!" Pyrrha yelled out.
"Eh, he needs to learn what personal space is." Weiss and Pyrrha looked to the side and saw Izuku cleaning and maintaining a giant sniper rifle that was longer than his leg. Before the two could question where he got the thing, someone over the loud speaker said "Would all first year students please report to Beacon Cliff immediately. Again, would all first year students please report to Beacon Cliff immediately."
Weiss walked right past Jaune who was stuck to the wall while Pyrrha grabbed her javelin and said "It was nice meeting you." Jaune, being pretty down, said "Likewise." in a sighing voice. Yang and Ruby then came over to Jaune. Yang said "Having some trouble there lady killer?" while Ruby put out her hand to pull him up. Taking Ruby's hand, Jaune said, "I don't understand. My dad said all women look for is confidence! Where did I go wrong?"
"Snow Angel probably wasn't the best start." Izuku said while walking over to the three of them. "Come on Jaune." Ruby said while putting his arm over her shoulders to help him walk.
It cuts to the cliff where all the students are lined up infront of Ozpin and Glynda. "For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." Ozpin said. Glynda took over with "Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates, today." That got a whine out of Uny. Ignoring her, Ozpin said "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time at Beacon, so it is in your best interest to be paired with someone whom you can work well."
"Oh no" Ruby whined out. "That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years." That cracked Ruby's world view open. "WHAT!" Ruby yelled. Nora just said to Ren "See! I told you!" Ozpin continued "After you've been partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path or you will die." That got an audible swallow of fear from Jaune.
"You will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will guard that item as well as your standing and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?" Both Izuku and Jaune raised their hands.
Ignoring them Ozpin said, "Good. Take your positions." Everyone except Jaune got into their positions while Jaune was still raising his hand. "Uhm sir, I've got a question." He said not noticing that Weiss was just launched. "So this Landon's strategy thing, wh-what is it? You're like dropping us or something?" "No. You will be falling." Not noticing that another kid got launched he continued. "Oh, I see. So like, you hand out parachutes for us?" Again not noticing Nora get launched. "No, you will be using your own landing strategy." "Uh huh, so what exactly is a landing strategyyYYY." Jaune got launched mid sentence.
Izuku was ready to get launched but it didn't come. He looked to Ozpin with a questioning look. "Izuku Midoriya, I'm sure you have noticed that we are short a few students." He nodded at this so Ozpin continued. "Well, due to you already having training you will have to get two relics. I will explain later." That got Izuku confused and before he could ask further, he was in the air.
The feed cuts to a bird flying in the air. After a second of it flying, a high speed rose hits it. "BIRDIE NO!" Ruby calls out after hitting it. Ruby uses the sniper form of Crescent Rose to get rid of some of her momentum before transforming it into the scythe and hooking it on a tree to do a flip and land softly on her feet. Weiss uses a glyph to stop her descent and hops off of it. Ren uses the blades on his smgs to hook the bark of a tree and slide down in a spiral. Yang uses her explosions to propel her above the trees before going through the top of one and using other trees like walls to jump off of before rolling on the ground and saying "Nailed it."
Pyrrha held her shield out in front of her and went through a few trees before stopping and rolling on the branch of another. Pyrrha immediately pulled out her hunting rifle and scoped out looking around. She saw Jaune flailing in the air so she transformed it into the javelin and fired a shot through the handle sending it at high speeds at his location. After a few seconds you can here it hit a tree and Jaune yell out "THANK YOU!" She yelled back "IM SORRY!"
Izuku brought out his grappling hook that he saved for these occasions. When he got close enough to a tree, he threw the head of the grappling hook and got it around a branch. He hung on to the rope for dear life while he spun around the branch of the tree until he had gotten rid of enough momentum and let go of the rope. He was launched forward but he landed with a combat roll with his sniper out to shoot anything that was a threat. When he realized that nothing was around him, he broke into a sprint to get his grappling hook and get to the temple.
When he passes through a bush, it transitions to Ruby running through the forest just thinking to herself 'Gotta find Yang, gotta find Yang, Gotta find Yang.' "YANG? YANG!?" 'Oh, this is bad. This is really bad. What if I can't find her? What if someone finds her first? There's always Jaune. He's nice. He's funny. I don't think he's very good in a fight though. What about Blake? So mysterious. So calm. Plus she likes books. Then again, I'm not sure I'd be able to hold a conversation with her. What about Izuku. He's my first friend and he's really sneaky. But he works best alone. Okay, who else do I know in this school? There's Yang, Jaune, Blake, Izuku and…' Ruby then skidded to a stop and saw Weiss right in front of her. They made eye contact, before Weiss turned around and started walking away. "Wait, where are you going!? We're supposed to be teammates." Weiss went through a bush… and saw Jaune stuck to a tree about 10 ft up trying to get Pyrrha's javelin out of his hood. He noticed Weiss before awkwardly waving. She turned around and he slunk down with one hand still on the javelin.
"By no means does this make us friends." Weiss said before dragging Ruby by her hood. "You came back!" Jaune then yelled out, "Hey, wait! Come back! Who's gonna get me down from here!?"
"Jaune?" He looked down and saw Pyrrha. "Do you have any spots left on your team?" "Very funny." He looked away pouting before looking back and smiled. Eye contact.
"What's the hurry?" Ruby asked Weiss. "I will not let my mission be delayed because you're too slow. I swear, if I get a bad grade because-" Ruby the used her semblance and appeared in front of Weiss, surprising her. "I'm not slow, see. You don't have to worry about me." "When did-" "Weiss, just because I don't exactly know how to deal with people doesn't mean I don't know how to deal with monsters. You're about to see a whole different side of me today, Weiss. And after it's all over, you're gonna be like "Wow, that Ruby girl is really, really cool and I want to be her friend."" Ruby then used her semblance and sped off.
Weiss then called after her "YOU MAY BE FAST BUT YOU STILL EXEL AT WAISTING TIME! RUBY?!" Weiss heard a bush shuffle "Ruby?" She then saw red eyes all around her and heard a growl. A beowolf then stepped out of the darkness before Weiss yelled out "RUBY!"
It cuts to Yang yelling out "Hello! Is anyone out there?! Hello, I'm getting bored here!" She then heard a bush ruffle behind her which caused her to turn around and ask "Is anybody there?" She then went over to the bush and looked behind it. "Ruby is that you?" She looked up and saw and Ursa which made her say "Nope." The Ursa jumped at her but she jumped away just in time, landing in a roll. She activated her gauntlets as another Ursa leapt at her from the bush. Yang did a backhand spring to avoid it. The Ursa that originally attacked her then ran at her and tried to hit her again, but it got an explosive punch to the stomach, sending it flying. The other one tried to attack her, but it got an explosive upper cut. Yang then boosted herself into the Ursa's stomach by having her gauntlets explode behind her. After landing, Yang asked them "You guys wouldn't have happened to see a girl in a red hood, would ya?" The Ursas just roared which made Yang say, "You could just say no." before one of them, once again, rushed her.
It swiped at her with it's claws but she ducked under before dodging the second strike with another backhand spring. "Jeez, you two couldn't hit the broad side of..." Yang then noticed a strand of her golden hair float down past her eyes. That got her mad. Her eyes turned red and she used her gauntlets made explosions around her. "You... YOU MONSTERS!" She then boosted towards them and hit one with an explosive punch sending it flying. She used her explosions to keep up with it, constantly punching it while it was flying, when she punched it one last time, sending through several trees. She turned to the other one that ran up to her and stopped. "What?! You want some too?!" She yelled at it. Before it did anything to Yang, it dropped dead. Behind it was Blake with her weapon in its back. Blake brought her weapon back to her hand and put it away while making eye contact with Yang. Yang's eyes returned to normal before she said "I could have taken him."
Weiss was struggling. She was surrounded by beowolfs. She blocked the strike from one, sending her back. 'Remember your training Weiss.' She thought 'Head up, shoulders back, right foot forward, not that forward! Slow your breathing, wait for the right time to strike, and…' Weiss sprung, readying her rapier to strike.
Ruby appeared and slashed the Beowulf that Weiss was heading towards. At the last possible second, Weiss was able to stop her momentum by planting her feet down, but she stumbled and released some fire dust that lit a nearby tree on fire and burnt off all it's leaves. In all of her curiousness, Ruby looked back to see what the sound was. A Beowulf swung at her but she was able to block it with Crescent Rose, sending her flying backwards towards Weiss.
Before she hit Weiss, something wrapped around Ruby's stomach that brought her to a halt. When Ruby was able to get back on her feet, she got a good look at what wrapped around her. It looked like a grappling hook. Before she started geeking over it, it unlatched with a simple tug. Whoever owned gave the rope a hard tug and made it fly towards them. Ruby and Weiss followed it with their eyes and saw it go into the darkness of the forest.
Glowing red eyes then came from where the grappling hook went. The two started to stubble back and fell to their butts before a gunshot rang out and they heard it cut through the air next to them. A whine came from behind them. They looked back to see that a Beowulf was the target of that bullet. "I got ya kids." Ruby and Weiss quickly looked back to see that Izuku appeared behind them and was the one that saved Ruby with the grappling hook. He kneeled down to talk to them. "I'm going to have to have you two put on blindfolds."
"Why? What are you going to do?" Weiss worriedly asked.
"I'm going to kill them but I don't need you two to be traumatized by what I do" Izuku responded, pulling out two blindfolds from his pockets.
"Oh please, what could you possibly do that would traumatize me?" Weiss replied with.
"Use enough explosive rounds that they turn into a meat soup or fine red mist." Upon hearing this, Weiss immediately snatched a blindfold and tied it around her head. Izuku turned to Ruby. "Do you know how to tie this or do I need to help?" Ruby took the blindfold from him before saying, "No, I know how," and tying it around her head. "Ok then, time to get to work." Weiss and Ruby heard Izuku say that and ready whatever gun he was holding. After a few seconds the two started hearing gunshots and pain-filled-screams, but the screams weren't Izuku's. Whatever he was doing to the grimm sounded like torture and after a minute, everything went silent.
The two heard Izuku say "You can take those off now." Weiss and Ruby took off the blindfolds to see a bunch of piles of what used to be the Beowulfs turning to ash and Izuku now had a lot of black liquid on his armor. Before they could question what he did he pointed out that they should start moving towards the temple. The two of them were still really curious but they did have to get to the temple to pass so they started walking.
