Chapter 2 – Diversion
The sun was shining down as the girls drove along the desert on route to the tropical islands. Bulma drove as Launch sat in the front looking at the map as 18 and chichi sat in the back, chichi was reading a book as 18 was having a beer and checking out the sites as they drove along. Launch looked at the map and was getting confused as she turned it sideways and upside down.
'Bulma are you sure this is the right way?' Launch asked uneasy
'Doctor M.t suggested this route to get to the bay where the boat will meet us to take us to the Iguana islands faster. By my estimate we ought to get there around 4pm. So just tell me is this the right way to keep to the road?' Bulma asked as Launch checked the map
'Yeah just keep following it south and then you'll get to the canyon, then from there go north towards the coast.'
'Okay so we're on the right track!'
'Yeah you said 4pm! It is now 11am. Meaning we got 5 hours till the boat. I'm gonna be so board' 18 huffed
'I wouldn't say that. I find reading kinda comforting' chichi giggled
'Yeah you would'
'Relax back there 18. We'll be there before you know it.' Bulma said
'You could let me drive?' 18 asked
'No'
'Oh come on why?!'
'Because this car belongs to my dad and I'm the only one who is allowed to drive it.'
'You still do what daddy tells you to do?' 18 teased
'Look stop annoying me and just sit back there quietly'
'Oh what are you? My Mum?!'
'Oh I know! How bout we play a game?' Launch asked
'What game?' Chichi asked as she continued to read her book
'Eye Spy?'
'Launch we're in the middle of the desert! What Is there to eye spy?' Bulma asked
'We'll let's see shall we?' She said as she thought of one 'Eye spy with my little eye, something beginning with…. S!'
'Sand' Chichi answered not even looking up from her book
'Damn it!' Launch huffed
'Okay I got one! Eye spy something beginning with…B!' 18 smirked
'Beer?' Launch guessed
'No'
'Bags?' Bulma guessed
'No'
'Bulma?' Chichi guessed
Yes?' Bulma asked
'No I meant you as an answer'
'No' 18 laughed
'Oh Book!' Launch yelled
'Yes!'
'Okay my turn!' Chichi grinned and thought about it 'Eye spy, with my little eye…. Something beginning with….C' She smiled
'Capsules?' 18 guessed
'Nope'
'Cactus?' Launch asked
'No!'
'Car!' Bulma answered
'Yep!'
'This game is too easy!'
'Okay then smartass you decide what we should do?'
'Hmmmm…. let's turn on the radio' Bulma said as she did so and one of her favourite songs came on.
'Oh this song is my JAM! Turn it up Bulma!' 18 ordered as she did and 18 began to sing!

Bulma, Launch and 18 sang along as chichi listened while also reading her book, 18 noticed she wasn't singing and grinned, she snatched the book from her hand as chichi tried to get it back
'Hey! Give it back'
'Sing along or I throw it from the car' she smirked
Launch: Every daydream I have starts and ends with you
I wanna play it one more time
When I need an alibi, you're my perfect excuse

'Come On Chichi!' Bulma encouraged as chichi looked to 18 who raised a brow as she rolled her eyes and sang
Chichi: I'm breaking my silence

Chichi laughed and joined in as they all sang along and Bulma still driving along and singing
Bulma: It feels like I'm miles away
You bring me back home again
18: You hold me through my mistakes
Let go as we start again
Launch: You're a habit I'll never break

The Girls all laughed as they continued to sing along to all the songs that came on the radio. Some hours had passed as the girls were now driving along the canyon and were coming up to.
'If you had to marry either Piccolo, or Oolong. Who would you marry?' 18 asked
'Are you serious right now?!' Bulma laughed
'Yeah none of those options seems ideal!' Launch laughed
'Okay then, Roshi or Mr Satan?' 18 smirked
'Oh Come on!' Chichi cringed
'Well I never said the option was gonna be easy!'
'How far have we got to go now?' Launch asked
'We should be there soon, just need to drive out of this canyon and we'll heading for the coast. And I tell you what, apart from the meeting with the guy, I'm looking forward to a week in the sun' Bulma grinned
'Bottomless cocktails' 18 Smirked
'Lazing by the pool' Launch added
'Plenty of fresh free food' Chichi sighed
'Not to mention the hot lifeguards' Bulma blushed
'Or the singles who can't wait to show off their bodies' 18 added
'And of course not having to worry about anything' Launch smiled
'Damn right! No threats, no danger and no need to call out for help because we are finally at…..'
'BULMA LOOK OUT!' Chichi pointed ahead as the girls yelled and screamed as Bulma hit the brakes of the car as it came to a blown up crater, it was huge and it stretched to 2 miles in one giant circle.
'What the hell?!' Bulma asked as they all got out of the car to investigate and looked down into the crater, it was deep.
'Great work Bulma! You've gone off road and now we are now lost!' 18 huffed
'But I didn't, there was no mention of this crater and I wasn't told an alternative route' Bulma argued as Launch looked at the map
'well we could always drive around it?' Launch suggested
'Well I guess we'll have to, but before we do, launch help me check the engine, I hit the brakes pretty hard back there' Bulma said as she and Launch checked out the car as 18 and chichi looked at the crater.
'You'd think this crater would have appeared on the map huh 18?' chichi asked as 18 looked at it and looked down into the crater and felt uneasy
'Chi?'
'Yeah?'
What do you see down there?' she pointed as chichi looked and answered
'Ummm….. a crater'
'In the heart of it. What do you see?' she said as chichi looked closer and saw something rising.
'It looks like…. Smoke?'
'Right. This was done a few days ago. But What would cause a crater like this?' 18 asked
'I guess a meteor?'
'But where is the meteor?' 18 questioned
'Okay so maybe an energy blast?'
'From what though?' 18 asked
'Or from who?' Chichi frowned as she got on her knees and put her hand down on the side of the creater and gasped '18?'
'Yeah?'
'This blast, it wasn't done a few days ago'
'How'd you know?' 18 asked
'Because the crater is hot! This was done a few hours ago'
'What?'
'They made this crater on the only road we were told to follow, does that sound suspicions?'
'But who would…?'
'Guys, we got a problem' Bulma huffed
'What is it?'
'The engine has overheated, we gotta wait for it to cool down before we start going around, why don't we…..' she was cut off by a loud bang making all 4 ladies jump!
'The hell was that!?' 18 asked as they all went round the car and noticed a flat tyre and the air hissing out
'Are you Kidding me!?' Bulma huffed
'How could the tyre just burst like that!?' Chichi asked as Launch investigated and then frowned
'The tyre is not hot. It hasn't overheated' She said as she looked to where is had burst and gasped.
'Launch?' Chichi asked as Launch pulled something out of the tyre
'Guys….. someone shot the tyre' she said as she held a bullet in her hand. The girls looked uneasy as they looked around
'That's not all, The crater was made to stop us. It's been made recently' 18 added
'So what are you saying!? That someone wanted us to stop here?!' Bulma freaked
'I think its best if we umm….. get back home' chichi said keeping her guard up and looking up into the canyon passes for any movement
'I wanna know what stopped us?' 18 huffed
'Funnily enough! I Don't!' Bulma argued
'Look lets not get bogged down on this, 18 why don't you…..'
'AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!' 18, Bulma and Chichi turned around and heard Launch's scream but she suddenly was Gone!
'LAUNCH!?' They all yelled out and looked around. It was like she had vanished into thin air!
'What the Hell is going on!?' Bulma panicked
'I don't know! But there's no going back now, we are not leaving Launch!' Chichi added
'HEY! WHOEVER YOU ARE! GIVE US BACK OUR FRIEND!' 18 shouted into the canyon but no one answered, they heard some rocks fall from the cliff tops as Bulma began to shiver
'Chichi…. I think it maybe wise to try and call out for our husbands?'
'You think they'll hear us now? They could be so into their training they could be blocking us out to surpass to the next level'
'Well its worth a shot right 18? 18?' They both turned around and saw she was Gone too! This made them panic even more! Alongside Chichi, 18 was the strongest women there was and she wasn't brought down easily!'
'Where the hell did she go!?' Bulma whimpered
'Do what you can to call for Vegeta! I'll stand guard'
'But what if…..'
'Bulma just do it! We don't have time for discuss it! 18 and Launch are in danger and so are we!'
'Okay okay!' Bulma closed her eyes concentrated in her mind. To call out through their mated bond and make him sense her distress
'Vegeta….if you can hear this… know I'm sorry, what I said before. I didn't mean it. I love you. I just don't want to loose you! But right now. I need your help. Something is wrong, me and the girls…..something is….' Bulma opened her eyes when she noticed that chichi was no longer there!
'Chichi! CHICHI!' Bulma panicked as she was now left on her own and sooner or later. She knew he was next.
'Vegeta please….if you hear this….you and Goku!...come home….help us!' she pleaded through the bond but suddenly….it all went black. And all that was left in the canyon…was the car.
