Here we are at Chapter 60. As said in previous chapters, after this one, the story will enter another hiatus. However, after I finish my Genshin RWBY story, I may come back to this one, but no guarantees. Also, some great news. If you haven't heard yet, RWBY has found a new home with VIZ media. VIZ did the manga books for the series and have been partners with roosterteeth since 2016. No news about volume 10 yet, but now that RWBY has a new home, the future is looking brighter for our favorite huntresses. Let me say this: WE LOVE RWBY AND WE'RE NOT DONE YET! Anyway, it's time for more RWBY KEPL Chibi! I do not own RWBY. They belong to Viz Media. I only own my OCs. Here's chapter 60. Enjoy.
Chapter 60: Gravity of Circumstances
Skit 1: Graviton
In Professor Goodwitch's class, several students are lined up in the arena. Professor Goodwitch strides in front of them as she goes over the lesson.
"For today's lesson, we will be training, not with your weapons and combat skills, but with your semblances. Your semblances may give you a certain edge in battle, but unless you discipline it and strengthen it. You never know how your semblance may evolve as you evolve as future huntsmen and huntresses. So, today, we will have exercises created according to the traits of your semblances. Now, let's begin,"
First up is Khazhak, who generates lightning into his blades. He swings his swords and a few arches of lightning hit their targets.
"Good. Now, see if you can use your lightning without relying on your weapons," Glynda instructs him.
Khazhak concentrates and manages to generate a little lightning between his hands. However, at most he can only use it to charge up his scroll or give someone a little shock.
"Hmm, continue working on it, Mr. Rairyu. When you can use your semblance as a weapon without needing your blades, it'll give you new means of combating grimm. Next," Glynda says.
Next is Ruby, who bursts forth while leaving rose petals behind from one spot in the arena to the other.
"Fast, but can you do it without moving in just a straight line. Try and use your semblance while moving in circles around the arena," Glynda says.
Ruby takes a running start and uses her semblance again. However, just as she tries to step into a turn, she loses her footing and ends up crashing into the wall.
"Ow, my everything!" Ruby cries.
"Hmm, needs improvement. Next," Glynda jots down notes on her clipboard. Next up is Jaune and... "Next,"
"Huh? Why? I haven't even done anything yet!" Jaune pouts.
"You, Mr. Arc, have not yet unlocked your semblance. Until you do so, you cannot partake in this lesson. Just practice with your sword and shield for now," Goodwitch shoos him away, much to the blonde's dismay.
Next up is Porphyrius. Porphyrius aims his rifles and fires a few gravity shots at some targets. The targets get weighed down by the gravity weights and collapse.
"Hmmm," Glynda taps her clipboard.
"What is it, Professor Goodwitch?" Porphyrius asks.
"Well, I feel like you're holding back your semblance. You use gravity weights, but what if you could use gravity itself? I dare say it might be similar to my semblance," Goodwitch explains.
Porphyius knows he's holding back. If he were to remove his eyepatch, his limiter, he'd flatten everything and everyone around them. Gaining full control over his semblance has always been an issue for him. Best to quickly change topics.
"Your semblance is Telekinesis, right. I doubt my semblance would be like yours. I just weigh stuff down, but you can move them as you see fit, among other things," Porphyrius notes.
"True," Glynda uses her semblance to move some new targets into place. "But, if you were to gain full control over your semblance and thus, full control over gravity itself, you may be able to do more than simply weight them down. You could reduce gravity on them, making them lighter and thus float them up. Maybe even push them forward or back. Think about it as you work on your semblance. Next," Glynda calls on the next student.
Porphyrius walks back, noticing Jaune doing some practice swings with his sword.
"Yeah, don't want to end up like that or worse. Best stick with what I know, for now at least," Porphyrius mutters.
Skit 2: Robot Doll
"Now then, let's see if I can find friend Ruby and friend Khazhak in Vale. I just need everyone in the vicinity to believe that I am a regular meat person and I'll be fine. And to avoid any magnets," Penny notes as she makes her way through the streets of Vale.
Penny managed to sneak away from her babysitters (if you want to call them that) again so she can hang out with her friends. It's been a while. As she turns a corner, Penny walks by Yukari's shop just as the door opens up and Yukari steps out, looking rather worried.
"Ugh, what am I going to do now? She was supposed to be here minutes ago for the fitting to see if the outfits are the right size," Yukari mutters.
"Hello, Yukari. What's wrong? Are you having a systems malfunction?" Penny asks.
"Systems what? Ugh, no, never mind. I had a client that was supposed to come in today to try on some outfits to ensure they fit right, but they called out sick at the last minute. I have other projects I need to work on as this is the busier time of the year for my work. But, I need to finish this project first. I have a system for a reason," Yukari explains.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm afraid I'm not well-informed on the processes of fashion, so I don't have a lot of data on the subject." Penny says.
Yukari stares at Penny, confused. But then, she gets a gleam in her eye.
"Wait. Pardon me a moment," Yukari does a quick inspection of Penny from different angles. "Yes, this might work. If you want to help me, I know just what you can do. We're friends right?" Yukari asks.
"Ah, yes. Friends help each other because that's what friends do. I will aid you, Yukari," Penny accepts.
"Good, come with me," Yukari pulls Penny into her store.
As it turns out, the client was a young woman who apparently had very similar body dimensions compared to Penny. So similar that the outfits should fit just right. The first outfit she had Penny try on was a blue dress with a short skirt and a hood with detached sleeves and matching boots (think Rinwell's outfit from Tales of Arise).
"Hmm, not bad, though maybe I should ditch the hood. Alright, onto the next one," Yukari claps her hands as her employees bring the other outfits.
The next outfit they have Penny try on is a maid outfit with a long skirt and even a few armor pieces on top of it (Naberal Gamma's outfit from Overlord).
"Oh, a maid uniform that also doubles as combat gear. This is very versatile," Penny notes as she looks over the outfit.
"Versatile, but not very fashionable. It must have function and style together, or else it's no good," Yukari notes.
The next outfit features a more oriental design, though it has shorts instead of a skirt (think Atuy's outfit from Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception).
"Hmm, not bad, but I think you'd look better with a skirt than shorts. Come on, let's try a few more," Yukari notes, inspecting Penny.
Penny ends up trying a few more outfits for Yukari and has a surprisingly fun time doing it. She remembers reading about how female friends loved clothes shopping and trying on new clothes. Maybe she can bring Ruby next time. Though Khazhak probably wouldn't like it. Maybe Voshkie'ahk can take his place.
Skit 3: Fireworks
In Team KEPL's dorm room, Lloyd laughs maniacally as he stares at a small white board. As his chuckling continues, his teammates watch on with concern.
"Is he alright?" Khazhak asks.
"Maybe he had some of his own home cooking and it broke his circuits," Edom suggests.
"Or the classes here finally made him snap. But then again, he's always been nuts," Porphyrius adds.
"Hey! I can hear you; you know!" Lloyd yells.
"Yeah, whatever. What are you up to now, Lloyd? It better not be another one of your pranks. The last time you did something, it backfired and you ended up pranking Professor Goodwitch instead. Then we ALL got stuck with cleaning the cafeteria after lunch for a month," Khazhak says.
"No, it's nothing like that. I heard there's going to be a fireworks festival going on in the city this weekend and I got the idea to launch some fireworks of my own. I have already thought of the best spot to do it. Now, I'm just figuring out what kind of fireworks I should get and how many," Lloyd explains.
"Lloyd and fireworks..." Porphyrius mutters.
"...Is a terrible combination," Edom finishes.
"I hate you guys," Lloyd glares at them.
Khazhak sighs, "Knowing you, you'll just go ahead and do it anyway, even if I ordered you not to. Fine, what kinds of fireworks were you thinking of. I'll give the final approval. And to help with any potential damage control, let's bring Team RWBY and Voshkie'ahk in on this,"
...
The weekend comes around and everyone is gathered in Vale for Lloyd's 'brilliant' idea. Khazhak already gave them the rundown of the operation and they were all for it... provided someone brought medical supplies and Weiss' money would cover the necessary hospital bills. Khazhak helped Lloyd decide on what fireworks to get so they at least wouldn't get arrested as well. With the preliminary preparations settled, it was time to really get ready for the party.
"We'll get the food," Team RWBY volunteers.
"We'll get the fireworks," Team KEPL adds.
"And I'll make sure no one takes our party spot," Voshkie'ahk gets the last job.
They all separate to take care of their objectives. Lloyd gave the location for their party spot, so all she had to do was keep an eye on the place. Team RWBY had a list of party food to get, and even got a portable grill for hot dogs and hamburgers. The hardest job was Team KEPL's and that was mostly to make sure Lloyd didn't get anything that could be considered too dangerous or even illegal (don't ask). Thankfully, they didn't get arrested and managed to get some good fireworks for the festivities. After getting all the necessary materials, they gathered at the spot Lloyd picked out. It was the roof for one of the tallest buildings in Vale which would give a great view for the fireworks.
"Alright, we've got food, fireworks. And the sun is going down. Let's get this party started! Banzai!" Ruby cheers.
"Banzai!" everyone else cheers with her.
Yang gets the grill working and the hotdogs and hamburgers grilling, Porphyrius has some music playing. Khazhak, Lloyd, and Voshkie'ahk are getting the fireworks all ready to blow.
"Hey, this is pretty fun. I don't understand why you were so worried about it before, Khazhak," Ruby notes as she gets a hot dog from Yang.
"That's because you don't know Lloyd like I do, little rose. Trust me, you'll understand one day," Khazhak replies, taking two hot dogs for himself.
"Come on, I'm lighting them up!" Lloyd yells, getting a match burning.
Everyone takes a few steps back as Lloyd lights them up before running back to them. A few seconds later, the fireworks all shoot up into the sky, exploding in big balls of colorful lights. Some even explode into bright versions of their emblems in the night sky.
"Now this is what I call freedom," Lloyd sighs.
"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of cookies!" Ruby cheers.
"You mean happiness," Khazhak corrects her.
"Cookies are happiness!" Ruby cheers again.
Yep, it was a fun time for everyone... as long as they cleaned up afterwards so they wouldn't get arrested.
And that's the chapter. The story will go on a hiatus now, but the hiatus may not be as long as last time. Until then, please Read and Review.
