Chapter Two
Lily Evans
Lily spots Molly sitting amongst the other Slytherins in The Great Hall later that evening. Floating pumpkins illuminate the chatter and bustle below. Fellow students meander about as others munch on tarts and swap stories about classes.
Lily smiles as she starts walking towards her friend. Her mind and body still reeling from the insanity of this morning's… events. Lily rubs the sore spot on her neck and her legs suddenly feel weak. Not. Now.
Wrangling in her emotions, Lily plasters a smile on her face as she pushes on to the bench beside her friend.
"How's the pudding?" Lily nudges Molly's arm as she reaches for a glass of pumpkin juice.
"Splendid." Molly answers with a full mouth. "I know you wanted to study tonight but I've got a better idea."
Molly pushes her dessert aside and turns to face Lily with a mischievous grin.
"I'm interested." Lily takes a sip of her pumpkin juice and gestures for Molly to continue. "Do tell more."
"A couple of the other eighth-year boys and I were thinking about hitting The Three Broomsticks for a little debauchery." Molly pulls out a small mirror from her bag and begins combing away fray hairs from her face. "I already told them we're in."
"Oh?" This could be fun.
"We're going to fly the brooms over," Molly states as she begins patting her lips with a crimson stain. "Meet me down here in an hour?"
Lily didn't feel like arguing and plus it'd been over a week since she'd felt the wind on her face.
Lily nods in agreement. "I'm lucky to have you managing my social calendar," she laughs. "You'd be my only friend otherwise."
Lily winks at her friend and starts grabbing some meat pies and a pumpkin tart to bring back to the dorm with her.
"There is one other thing," Molly states, placing her small mirror back in her purse. "James is wanting to get to know you on a more…personal level, shall we say."
Lily chokes on her pumpkin juice. "Yeah, good luck with that."
"He's not half bad! Besides, what else are you up to?"
Lily can't let her mind answer that question, lest she start getting turned on in the middle of this hall. Merlin, she was fucked.
"I've got too much going on right now, but I'll let him buy me a drink." Lily offers with a small laugh.
Both girls were notorious for letting older wizards buy them butter beers last summer. Lily had about enough of that, but she'd still entertain the idea for a friend.
"I'll see you in an hour." Lily gives Molly an affirming nod and turns towards the exit.
What would Professor Snape think if he found out about this?
She wasn't sure she cared.
