Hello everyone! I hope your day has gone really well so far, and if not, I hope it gets better! Also, yes. I've just decided to post chapters whenever I've done and edited them, so. Yay?
Anyways, PLEASE take notes of the fact that this story covers themes to do with blood, psychological problems, attempted body modification, near-death experiences, themes that relate to death, and mentions of surgery.
Also, I do NOT own Power Rangers, if I did well let's just say I would change a lot of things.
I am not that great at English, and there's bound to be grammar and spelling mistakes. So don't expect this to be a masterpiece of some sort.
Inside The Walls

-Chapter Two-
"No! NO! Get away from me! STAY AWAY!"
The robotic guards began to drag her further away from her's and Gem's cell, she knew where they were bringing her, and she didn't want to go.
They were about to surgically remove her reproductive organs, to make sure that she was in top shape to make more Grinders and weapons for Venjix's ever growing army, so that she could never slow down the creation of more Grinders and other weapons because she was with child.
She saw many female prisoners in this cell block getting dragged off so their reproductive organs could be ripped out as well. They took a girl every week for this 'surgery', last week it was the blind girl in the cell just right of her's and Gem's cell, she had a whole week to be left with a plan to escape, to figure out how to recharge the gold and silver morphers, and to plan an escape route.
The Grinders were smart, but not smart enough to realise that their plan was hidden in a series of childish drawings she and Gem made to cover their plan up. Still though, even though this part was planned, she was scared to death that it wouldn't work.
Her hope was bleeding out from her as she drew closer, and it was replaced with an anxious feeling. She heard girls moan in pain because the Grinders didn't sterilise the surgical equipment after each surgery they did. Girls were dying from sepsis left, right and centre and the thought of dying in a horrid death drowned her in an ocean of fear and dread.
They dragged her deep into the medical sector of the run-down factory, more moans of pain were heard as people were on their death beds. She looked through the vas amount of doors that held dying people within the rooms they hid. Looking through the windows imbedded into the doors, she went pale. These people were skin and bone, and paler than the bed sheets they were laid in.
She wanted to resist, to break free from the metal hands hanging onto her arms that dragged her closer to the makeshift and rotting operating room. But she had to stick to the plan if she ever wanted a chance to escape with her life, and with all of her body intact.
She wanted to scream, they manhandled her when they had reached the operation room, they treated her as she was nothing but a worthless piece of dirt in their way. They strung her up and practically slammed her down on the stretcher they had found from a nearby hospital they had destroyed.
The Grinders tried her down using these weird belt-like straps, one placed just below her neck, one placed just above her thighs but below her stomach, and one strapped on her knees.
As of now, acting wasn't her strongpoint, but she just had to be good enough to fool these robots. She wasn't a very good fake screamer, in fact she could hardly scream on command, she could only scream if she got really scared or hurt.
But Gem was counting on her to scream for the signal, because a scream would be the only signal he could hear from where he was supposed to be. The signal would let him know when to cause a distraction so she could use the pocket knife she hid in her sleeve and cut her way out of the stretcher she was tied down too.
They didn't even put her under anaesthesia, she would feel the pain they would cause her if she didn't scream now. She tried to force herself to scream, but her throat didn't allow her too. She felt her throat close as she shook with dread and fear. She had too scream, why couldn't she scream!?
She felt like she was going to cry, watching as one of the Grinders pick up a scalpel. She watched with panic as the Grinders pulled up the shirt part of her prisoner uniform, her shirt was left covering her chest, exposing her stomach to this dark world. Fear paralysed her, her eyes bashfully looked at every single Grinder in the room, her mind was racing.
'Damnit Gemma! Scream! SCREAM!'
She finally screamed as a wave of pain rushed down to her right lower quadrant, it stung like hell. She could only guess that the scalpel had done its job and made a deep cut on her body. But it worked, Gem heard her scream and caused a big distraction that caused the Grinders who were about to operate on her to run out of the room.
Gemma wasted no time in cutting herself out of the straps, after she was freed she stumbled around, looking for bandaging to stop the bleeding. She looked at it for a second; it looked deep. Stitches, it needed stitches.
She was a little medical smart, back in Alphabet Soup she was tasked with studying which surgical procedures caused the most infections in patients. She didn't question it then, but she was great full for the knowledge and medical skills she gained from it, as she was forced to practice these surgical procedures on dolls and stuffed toys. She found the needle that was going to be used to stitch her back together after surgery. She sighed, this was going to hurt, but she had to survive. That was what she knew.
Those pain-filled minutes felt like years, she winced with every stitch she made on herself, but she had to do it no matter what, just so that she could survive and escape this nightmare-fueled factory.
She sighed with relief after the stitches were completed, she scattered to find the bandages to make sure her stitches would stay put. She smiled to herself, but that smile turned into a frown when she realised she had to run, this was going to be painful, but she had to do it!
So she ran, she knew where Gem would be. After all, they had planned this escape plan out well. She met Gem in the main lobby of the factory, they stood just before their escape route a big window at the back of the factory. It was easily smashable as long as they had something to smash it with.
Gem had the Series Gold morpher in one hand and he passed the Series Silver morpher to her before he spoke.
"Are you-"
"Alright? Yes, just-"
"Sore?"
"... yeah."
They both nodded. Gemma knew that their childish persona's were down to the conditioning they faced at Alphabet Soup, but there were more important matters at hand to care about, like survival.
"Are you ready-"
"Gemma? Yeah I am, are you-"
"Ready? Of course I am. Now let's do it!"
Both twins got out their respective morphers out and opened the small compartment lid before pressing the button.
"RPM get in gear!"
They had helped Dr.K come up with the weaponry for these suits, it came out useful in this situation. They knew that they had to use their twin daggers to break through the giant window and then they could summon their zords to get out of here, so they did exactly that. They used the daggers to break the windows and then they jumped out of it.
"Summon Zords!"
Then, as if it were magic, they were flying in their zords. Gemma pointedly ignored the ever growing pain on her lower right side, it would go away soon anyways. But right now, she was so happy to be away from that factory of nightmares. She felt free for the first time in her life, but now? It was time to make others feel how she and Gem felt right now. They had to defeat Venjix once and for all, that is a promise. They were going to set the world free from this nightmare, if it were the last thing they do.
She woke up in a room with bright lights, blinking herself back into a consciousness, she looked around as her vision returned to normal. That's when she realised she was in the lab, but here's the question, how long as she out for?
"Gemma. It's good to see you're awake again."
Gemma sat up in the medical-like table she was laid upon, she grumbled and rubbed her eyes. She still couldn't believe what happened, Gem had punched her. Well, he accidentally punched her. For some bizarre reason, he was aiming for Flynn. Maybe she should ask Flynn what that was about later on, while they were on their mission.
"Um, how long was I out for?"
"Just a few hours, don't worry. I sent out the other rangers to help get supplies for your mission. We've called a doctor to come take a look at you, just to make sure you're alright."
Gemma nodded, watching as Dr.K left the lab area of the garage for some reason. Her nose still hurts but not as much as before. She laid back down for a second, her head hurt. That weird 'vision' memory thing she experienced while she was unconscious spooked her a bit, she felt her side, where the scar was. It sometimes still hurt from time to time, but it's ok. It's all healed up after all, she shouldn't worry about it.
She felt scared, was her family breaking apart? No. It couldn't be, Gem didn't mean to hurt her, but yet again, he wanted to hurt Flynn. She hadn't seen Gem lash out like that before, well not towards another human that is.
She sighed, why did life have to be so confusing? Not to mention her feelings felt all over the place. She put up a childish persona because she was afraid of facing the real word, but lately that persona seems to be breaking.
Being around people who had somewhat normal childhoods (well, childhoods that didn't involve being raised by a government organisation) made her realise how far her problems went. She put up a mask so she didn't get scared of the world around her, the mask made her feel like she was in control.
"Hello there, you're Gemma, right?"
Gemma turned her head to see who was talking to her. It was a women in a white lab coat and a medical kit in her hand. The presumable Doctor was a dark-skinned women with braided black hair that fell just below her shoulders, and she had for a lack of a better term, a kind-looking face.
"Yes, I am. I'm Gemma."
The Doctor took a seat on the stool next to the medical-looking bed Gemma was laying upon, and she placed her medical kit on the side table.
"Hello Gemma, I'm Dr. Greyblur. I've been told you passed out for a few hours, mind telling why you passed out, if you know how you passed out?"
Dr. Greyblur got out a series of medical equipment, a blood pressure cuff which was attached onto a small machine that would read blood pressure, a stethoscope, and some tools that would check her eyes, ears, and reaction rate.
"I got in the middle of a fight between my brother and my friend, and..."
Gemma thought for a moment while the doctor placed the blood pressure cuff on her arm, it felt funny to say the least.
"My brother accidentally punched me on the nose, it knocked me back, and so I hit my head. I passed out and woke up here."
Dr. Greyblur nodded, taking notes of Gemma's blood pressure on her notepad, picking up a weird looking pen thing that administered a light.
"Looking good. Ok Gemma, can you follow the light for me with your eyes?"
Gemma did what the doctor asked, following the light with her eyes. This was weird, she's never been through a test like this before, was she doing alright.
"Ok, looking good."
Dr. Greyblur did a few more things with Gemma, which involved looking into her ears, having her squeeze a ball, and lightly hitting her knees with a medical too that resembled a hammer. Odd. Very odd, this wasn't a surgical tool, so she didn't recognise it. She also put a plaster on Gemma's nose, to help it heal.
"From what I can tell, you look fine to me. Blood pressure, your eyes, strength, ears and your rate of reaction are all good, and the bruise on your nasal area will heal within the week, but I have to ask, does anything else other than your nose hurt that you'd like to tell me about?"
Should she tell the doctor about the small scar she had on her lower right side that aches from time to time? It wouldn't hurt, but at the same time it could? It could be a good idea to tell someone who was medically trained about the scar, just to make sure it wouldn't kill her or something...
"I have a scar... aches from time to time."
"A scar? If it's alright, can you show me where the scar is?"
Gemma nodded, lifting up her white shirt just enough so that the doctor could take a look at it, she sighed to herself, she knew this was a bad idea.
"Oh, it looks like it's a few years old. Did you have a surgery down there before?"
Gemma sighed, the memories of that factory came rushing back to her head. The screams and moans of pain that surrounded the dark hallways of that place suddenly came back to haunt her. She put her shirt back to the way it was before speaking gain, this time in a quieter tone.
"They tried to take out my reproductive organs in a human factory once. I- me and my brother were tapped in one of Venjix's factories for about a year, and-"
She chocked up, that factory had been a source of her nightmares for about a year now. She felt her 'mask' begin to crack more, she needed it to stay up, she needed the comfort. Why can't she fix the mask, why can't she?
"Oh... I'm sorry to hear about that, it must've been awful."
Gemma nodded, she didn't want to speak anymore because she'd cry. She didn't want to cry, she wanted to be brave like the other rangers were. Why couldn't she be brave? She looked away from the doctor in shame.
"Well. Everything seems fine, you have nothing to be concerned about. You'll be able to go on your mission."
Dr. Greyblur packed up her medical equipment and placed it back in the medkit. She got up from the stool and smiled.
"Have a nice day now."
Then she walked away back to the main floor of the base, presumably to update the others on her condition. Gemma sighed once more, she had to put her mask back on, for her own sanity's sake.
She finally got her mask back on just in time before Gem had decided to come into the lab. She didn't notice him at first, she was busy thinking again. Was there a chance that she could finally find out what her last name was? Or who her parents were? What if she had other siblings other than Gem?
Her breath hitched as she saw Gem, yet again fear came flooding into her head. No, no! She didn't want him to harm her again, never again will he harm her in the way he did a few hours ago!
"Gemma, I-"
Gem was at a loss for words. How could he apologise for hurting his sister? He didn't mean to hurt her, he didn't even really want to hurt Flynn. He just got so mad that he wasn't thinking straight in that moment, and he went to punch Flynn for saying he thinks Gemma's 'cute', but didn't he have a right to be mad about that?
"Don't Gem- please just, don't."
Gemma sounded cold towards Gem. She hopped of the stretcher-like thing and gave him the cold shoulder, she had to help pack up the gear they needed for this mission, she had to make herself useful for today.
She perked herself up again when she entered the main arena of the garage, placing a plain smile on her face.
"Hey guys! How's the packing going?"
The team turned their attention to her and responded with 'hey Gemma! How are you feeling?' Or simply just 'hey.'
She was quick to take her place between Summer and Flynn, she took a mental note of what was going in the bag. A few bottles of water, food, matches, small medical kits and flashlights. She picked up a battery pack for the flashlights and placed them in one of the bags. She felt her hand gently brush against Flynn's, she looked at him and flashed him a quick grin before turning her attention back to what she was doing.
Meanwhile, Flynn had a small turmoil going on in his head. He did his best to stop blushing because the girl he liked brushed his hand and grinned at him, but a little bit of blush did seep through to his cheeks. He shook his head before going back to packing the equipment and survival gear he'd be bringing along on the mission.
Everybody turned their heads when they heard footsteps, at first Gemma had thought that it was Gem. But it couldn't be, because she saw Gem slip off to use the upstairs bathroom while everyone else was helping to pack, so, there was only one person it could be.
"Series operators Blue and Silver. It's time."
Hello everybody, that's the end of chapter two! I really hope you enjoyed it. Reviews are appreciated, but you don't have to if you don't want too.
I wanted to pop in and say that I know I've changed Gemma's personality drastically, but trust me, I know what I'm doing and writing. You'll see Gemma as we know and love her next chapter, so don't worry.
I know it's been a longer read, but I hope you all stick around to the end of the story.
I know this is a different RPM fanfiction to what you all may be used too, but it doesn't hurt to try something new.
The idea of seeing the twins relationship begin to deter away from each other is interesting because you can see in the show that Gemma is more socially aware and mature than Gem. This story is focusing on how she's more socially aware and why that is, this will all be resolved later on.
Enough of my rambling though, let's go onto the next chapter, shall we (when it's out, lmao)?
