The two half-ghost siblings sat in a booth, quietly eating their burgers. They'd utilized their link, so Ceci didn't have to use one of Enchantra's charms. They two were thrilled to have some time to themselves. Neither of their friends realized the two were together. Both had created a duplicate to cover for them while chilling together. Ceci paused from eating her burger and then sighed heavily.
"I believe it's time I told you about what occurred to me a few days ago, brother. If you're up to it," the female half-ghost voiced quietly. She seemed both terrified and uncomfortable about whatever she had been holding in.
"I've got something to tell you too. But you go first since you're the guest here," her little brother said, sharing her expression and emotions. Unquestionably both teens had plenty on their minds. Things they couldn't discuss with either of their friends. This was something for just a brother and sister to know.
Taking a deep breath, she recounted encountering another half-ghost named Magdalene Soulwings. At first, Danny looked bewildered, but he got even more stunned by what he heard next. "Mag, as she preferred to be called, informed me she was married to my father in another reality! And she was yours, Jazz, and a girl named Danielle's' mother! It's unbelievable on so many levels!
I mean not only to know there is more then one version of ourselves. Honestly, I was more astonished that you could be born a half-ghost! Mag seemed quite angelic, to be honest, exceptionally motherly. More so than our mother, and she was as captivating as an angel! We're going to have to inform the Ancients the breach is spreading. Either way, it shocked me so much to meet her!"
"Strangely enough, sis? The same thing happened to me! I met a jackal-like ghost named Kai! He must be from that reality this Mag is from! Since he acted as if he knew me! He described the version he knew of me from his reality. What I was more startled to find out he was the son of the Ancient of DEATH! I can't believe ghosts can get married, let alone have their own kids!"
"Yes, it would seem ghosts aren't just the spirits of the dead, little brother, but their own unique race! We'll have to ask the Ancients for more information regarding the subject. Regardless? This means the breach is starting to impact more then our realities! I'm afraid what other realities might get involved," Ceci admitted as she twisted a plastic fork.
"I'm more worried that whoever caused the calamity might find more dangerous versions of ourselves. I become the world's evilest ghost in one possible future!"
"Wow! I can't believe you would ever become evil! Despite that, little brother? I've also had to prevent a malevolent version of myself! However, I assume you know no more then me of what became of either of our dark sides?"
Danny shook his head. "I get the feeling they didn't just vanish because of Clockwork. I strongly believe they are in some secret prison that only the Ancients know about. Still, its beyond terrifying if both our dark sides get loose or teamed up!"
"I've been having nightmares about my dark side for several days. What about you?" Ceci hated having those nightmares. She couldn't even tell her friends about them. They wouldn't understand.
"Yes, I've had nightmares about all my enemies," Danny concurred. Sipping his soda, he continued, "I mean, you did agree we've some level of PTSD since becoming half-ghosts. I mean, you're willing to try and help me with my mental health issues."
"Again, if the Ancients are willing to form a stand-in to play our mother whenever we visit each other, then they should have someone we could talk about our mental issues with!" Ceci said in an exasperated tone.
"Well, again, I don't want my friends to know about our special bond or that we visit each other. I want our bond to be all our own," Danny replied softly. Again, he enjoyed having Ceci as an older sister. And again really wanted one thing to himself. He knew she felt the same. That was the whole point of why the Ancients created a way for them to be together.
Ceci placed her hand over her little brother's. "Yes, I want us to have time to be ourselves—simply brother and sister, not heroes. Just us being family. So we need to keep this under wraps."
"Well, we better find a way to inform the Ancients that another reality has been breached. We should also warn them that whoever is responsible for this crisis might seek out dangerous allies. Such as our dark sides."
"Agreed, Danny. We better head off to the Clockwork's tower to inform him asap. You with me?"
"I am!" with that, the two concentrated on their link and ended up in the Ghost Zone without needing a portal. They quickly zoomed off to the Master of Time's home, unaware their worst fears had already come true!
