Minato looked at his son who although steadfast and firm, was also afraid. Always known as the Uzumaki and that demon brat for most of his life, the teenager's true identity would soon be released to the public. Naruto was an Uzumaki all right but as his father, the boy was also a Namikaze.
Being the last of his own family, the older man gave his son a smile of pride. The teen never one to back down from a fight of any kind, he smiled in return. Despite not wanting to admit it, Minato knew his son was happy he was there. Now as the meeting begins, the two listen and wait for their time to come in.
Meeting
Taking their seats, Tsunade nodded towards Shikaku and the man prepared items that were to be passed out. Multiple things on the agenda, the big one being Naruto, the man was happy to see that Naruto would finally get the recognition he deserved. From Shikamau and his friends, he had learned of the blonde boy's accomplishments and even his desire to be even more was admirable even to him.
Many times as he looked into Inoichi and Chouza he tried to bring him into one of their families, but time and again he was denied. It is why most of his guard outside of Kakashi growing up was one of their clan members. They were not going to let the child get hurt if they could help it. Now despite being a genin, which Tsunade was going to remedy shortly, he was able to take care of himself.
Hence it was time for the village to know the Fourth Hokage was Naruto's father. Iniochi and his daughter Ino had surprised him and Chouza both when they found out Minato was alive and the first thing they did was grab a case of Saki went over to the apartment where he and Naruto lived and got drunk with the both of them.
It was like old times. The teenage blonde learned of what they kept trying to do and knowing that they kept being rejected. He gave a small smile of trust as he fought back tears. He does remember his guards from before and that they were mostly Kakashi and their clan members.
It made him feel better.
He and the others, seeing how Danzo, Homura and Koharu enter, can't wait for their reaction. Having been the third's advisors a lot of things had been halted because the three were to set in their ways. They were going to retire when the fourth fully took over. Minato had wanted him, Fugaku, and Hiashi as his advisors when he had everything set and the transition went smoothly.
But…well several things happened. Orichimaru, Danzo and his own little agenda, and eventually the Fox. It prevented so much from being done, that during the healing of the village the three refused to step down even when the third had died and Tsunade took over.
Luckily the blonde woman was strong enough to tell the three to go screw themselves when they tried to make her do things she didn't believe in. Danzo after the last Uchiha had demanded that Naruto be given over for root training. The woman said to not only go F$5# himself but that Jiriaya was already taking him out as his apprentice.
This of course infuriated the old one eye man to hell and back. It was lucky that Koharu and Homura found that mutually beneficial as with the danger Akatsuki presented. It was wise to get the blonde out for a few years while they shore up their manpower. Training even got harder for the teams in the consecutive years since the blonde left.
Ebisu had been training Konohamaru and his team and already had them water walking and learning some jutsus regularly. He was genuinely surprised when the young boy learned the Rasengan to be like his idol Naruto. It was highly amusing when both he and Udon learned the sexy jutsu that the blonde teen created when he was a little boy.
In fact, according to Ibiki, his T and I and some of their spies learned in case they got stuck. To alter one's appearance from male to female and vice versa was a handy way to escape. Of course Naruto doesn't know this and if he did no one would hear the end of it. He was certainly a creative kid, but also a boastful one when he wanted to be.
"So what is this meeting about Tsunade?" Danzo asked. His one eye looked at her with disdain. He was still ticked off that team 7's new member betrayed him. "I have better things to do than be here."
A smirk crossing her lips, she starts to talk. "Considering the incident with the Kazekage, we know Akatsuki is on the move. Even though Jiraiya is not here at the moment, Uzumaki has found another teacher who has been working with him. He now has some B and A rank jutsus under his belt. He is also working with notes left by the fourth to finish the rasengan."
A snort coming from many of the civilian councilmen, three shinobi nod their head in glee. Shikaku was one of the few who knew who was outside the door. Having seen and talked to his old friend along with Inochi, Shikaku had been ecstatic alongside Chouza when they bonded once more.
It was then that Tsunade and Minato had a long talk with them present. Answering their questions to the best of their ability. He alongside the others worked hard to take back his position. They could understand why he had kept saying no. He was not only alive but he wanted to be there for his son. He still had so much he wanted to teach the teenager, that they understood his reluctance.
But thanks to a brilliant idea, they agreed to something else. Minato would only take it if Tsunade would help him out and give him some days off to be with his son. The blonde woman smiled for being a parent to her favorite knucklehead, these last few years of sorts. She had agreed to the deal. It would free her up for the hospital and to further Sakura's own education to make the girl even stronger.
"So what?" One of the civilians replied. "It's not like he can do anything like what the Uchiha did before he left. It was probably his fault that he did."
."How wrong you are." She chuckled. Tossing the man and those beside him the report of the incidents involving Sasuke Uchiha and team 7. They looked incredulously at the paperwork in front of them.
"No, these are all fabricated! Everyone knows you favor that demon brat! It was the Uchiha!"
"Oh? So Kakashi Hatake is a liar? Princess Yuki of Snow country also a liar? How about the Crescent Moon Kingdom? If you like, take a look at the dates of the paperwork and also who gave them to us. You will find that the paperwork shows that these incidents during the Third's time.``
Looking at them now with a serene smile, her eyes thought nothing but. The civilians look at the paperwork and find the dates to be true. They all knew the Third was one not to play favorites as evident by the three advisors. They themselves said nothing to counter the blonde woman.
"But how…"
"What you people failed to notice that although the Uchiha boy is indeed smart and a genius, but he did have two teammates. Miss Haruno was the medic nin learning from me for some of these incidents, and Mr. Namikaze was the one who did just as much if not more damage than him. Also one advantage Naruto has is that he thinks quickly on his feet."
Listening, they pause for a second as they realize what she said. Shinobi and civilians alike were puzzled. "What do you mean Namikaze? The fourth had no children. His wife died before giving birth."
A smirk smiling across her lips, the door behind her opens. The council save for three rise up as they see a familiar but older face. Followed by said boy, the group of men and women looking at both of them side by side. They begin to realize what had happened that fateful night…and that they screwed up at the anger radiating from the older of the two.
."How…how the hell."
"You tell me Danzo." Minato replies. "But first thing's first. I can and will take my position back, but Tsunade here has agreed to take some days off so I can train my son."
"You mean Uzumaki…"
"Namikaze actually. Kushina and I were married as you well know Homura." The older blonde states as he looks at the old man. After all, you were there, you were the one who took care of her. She looked to you as a father, so why did you not allow anyone to take in my son."
The old man shrinking back, he does remember how Kushina smiled at him. Being the one to fetch the little girl when she was a child for Mito to do the transfer. He had adored the bubbly girl to no end. But when she and Minato died because of the Fox…. He knew Naruto, as a child, was her son, just looking at the boy and how he acted.
Remaining silent was his only answer as he could not look at the man whom Kushina loved. His face remaining stoic as memories of her joy at finding out was at the forefront.
At the same time, Minato looked at the others and lingered on Tsume. The man definitely took on an angry look and turned to his son. Whispering a few words to him, Naruto started to get angry once more. Gesturing to Tsunade to take him out as she was one of the few who he knew was there for him while he was gone.
"You and I Inuzuka are going to have a very long talk later."
Knowing what that means, she nods her head in regret. The shinobi over time had realized over time that Naruto was not a demon or bad kid at all. The things he had done to prove them wrong, the pranks to get people to see him. He was just a kid looking for attention.
Hell Ibiki threatened ANBU a lot alongside Anko over the fact that the kid was breaking into their headquarters repeatedly and if they couldn't stop him once. They didn't need to be there. In fact when he was 6 they hired the little boy to routinely bust in among other things. He was the perfect test for newbies. If you can't catch him pulling pranks you need to work harder.
The one person they realized they needed to talk to ironically was Iruka. The teacher was the only one who could catch the child every time. A mere chuunin in minutes could catch the kid where it took ANBU hours.
Shouldn't be happening, even now Anko remembers a lot of those times and she never forgets it when they piss her off.
"Now there are some things we need to handle right now." Minato started with a gaze that says that they were in for a rude awakening. Turning to the three older folks he smirked. "You are no longer advisors to the Hokage. Years ago I told you whom I trusted and since one has died. Tsunade has agreed to be the third. So you can retire now."
Hiashi and Shikaku both looked at one another and smiled. Surprised to say the least that Minato was back, Hiashi was glad. He knew that Naruto was his son. He couldn't do anything though to aid him, save help Jiraiya in giving him a place to live. Being one to invest in business, the clan Lord had also invested in Ichiraku's when he became head. Having had some himself when he was with his late wife. The man was very good and had lots of potential.
Jiriaya appreciated his roundabout way of making sure Naruto was taken care of as well. Unable to really help like he wanted because of the elders, he did what he could. It was after all a Hyuuga building that the boy and Ramen stand owners lived in. (They just don't know it)
He was going to laugh when the village heard who Naruto was. It would finally give him a reason to dismiss their interference in the way he ran things.
Watching as the three get set to argue, Minato raised an eyebrow and gestured for ANBU to come forward. "If you will."
"Yes, Hokage-sama"
Turning to the civilians, many of them looked up with wary expressions on their faces. "Now as to you, I am going to have Ibiki look into every single one of you. Checking the incidents and some reports, half of you as of now. Your homes and businesses are confiscated."
Immediately protests rising up, he slams his fist down hard enough that the table breaks clear in half. ANBU returning of the half protesting a third of them are arrested. "Recently we have come across information on you four. I will not say how, but there is enough proof that you have not only been embezzling funds from the village. But also selling inferior products to our Shinobi."
Those still protesting immediately shut up as they look at the ones in cuffs. The four say absolutely nothing. One begins to speak among the others, having lost family members recently he heard this and had to know… "Inferior products?"
"Yes, not just the stuff my son used. But some of our other Shinobi as well." Minato replied. "We found a link among reports concerning the fights and deaths of those recently. Their swords, shuriken, and other things are not up to par. Save those who buy from Moroboshi and his workers."
The blacksmith and his daughter are well known for their business. Him having made a stink over his baby girl using weapons that weren't made by him was one to remember. It had taken the third almost a week of negotiating before letting him handle the academy weapons as TenTen being the child she was kept saying they weren't very good.
Hence a lot of Shinobi around her age started buying his. Other stores couldn't keep up as more and more of their customers started turning away. Some shut down while others went into partnership with the man. Able to keep up with demand thanks to his apprentices that work each one. The might of Konoha has become quicker and sharper.
"Tomoki is this true…" Asked the man. Having met the man not too long ago the two had become friends over the last two years. The man still saying nothing, his eyes bely a hidden regret. One that was not only noticed by him but others.
"No…No…No" Leaping at him the man is caught by one of the Shinobi as he struggles. "I convinced my son to buy from you bastard." Tears of pain streaming down his face, it is at that moment Anko walks in. Handing the report to him as Tsunade and Naruto return, The Two older blondes look it over before speaking with her.
"You know what to do." The specialist nods her head as she turns to the four. Fear begins to enter their eyes as she cackles. "I can't wait for target practice. I hope Ibiki lets me play." Practically skipping as she gestures for ANBU to follow. "Come on guys, you know where to take them."
"What was on that report?" Another civilian asked as Naruto helped the civilian out. The man being one of the few who helped the boy in the past. He accepted the teenager's help, with sadness in his gaze. Talking to him Naruto smiled and chuckled as the man relived memories. Looking toward Minato, the older blonde smiles proudly and nods his head as he gestures to go on home with a tilt of his head.
"Hmm?"
"What was in the report Lord Hokage?"
"That's a need to know and as a civilian you don't." He replied. "Tsunade, you, Hiashi, and Shikaku, take a look. I will be there shortly. I'm going to finish this up."
Turning back to the council he smiles with deadly intent. "Over half of you I should kill right now for what you did to my son in the past." Gulps could be loudly heard amongst the many that they know referring to themselves. "But I won't you see this is a Shinobi Village not a civilian. So you are all fired."
"LORD HOKAGE!"
"HOKAGE-SAMA!"
Forming a Rasengan with his hand, the older blonde man let it whirl in front of them. He spoke now with malice. "All of you for years tortured my son. If you had true trust in me and in the Third you would have left him alone. You did not. You did not respect my last wishes nor did you respect his. I have read the reports and I have read the Third's notes. Those who continue I will be happy to kill you right now."
All of them remaining silent, Minato dissipates the sphere. "Go."
The group of civilians leave. Escorted by ANBU they found themselves outside the building feeling powerless. They did it to themselves….
"How did we not know? He is the fox isn't he?" One asked.
A man known to the civilians as Boquin is coming out now, calmer but sad. The man regretting his belief in one he thought a friend, he answers the question easily.
"You saw Kiran." He replied. "And you just refused to believe that he was human."
"But the fox!"
"Think about it you fools." The man replied angrily. "How many times could the supposed demon fox have killed us all but didn't. I have seen that boy battered and bruised more often than not. NEVER did he hurt anyone when he had ample time to."
Shame crossing their faces. Tomoki walked by them, his face still filled with pain. "He has saved us more times than we knew. He has brought further trade to our homes. What has that Uchiha boy given us?"
That left them all floundering, their thoughts heavy with regret. In the meantime though back in the tower. The shinobi speak to one another. The council becomes just them; they listen as Minato barks orders and jobs for them all.
"Hiashi, I want you to do what we discussed years ago. Take over the police and have your clan members monitor things in the stores."
The Hyuuga head nods in understanding. Shikaku leaning back as Minato turns to Tsunade. The blonde woman would be doubling as Hokage while he worked with his son. But would be maintaining the hospital. The Nara head would be second in command of the forces and with things coming…
"Shikaku, Tsunade informed me of the Akatsuki on the move. I need to inform all of you something about what happened that night." Telling them the group of fighters of the night Naruto was born and the person who attacked him and Kushina. They listened as the blonde man spoke.
They seem to be surprised at the identity of the culprit. "A Uchiha was behind it, That's interesting." Hiashi replied. The genius nodding his head in agreement as Minato continues. "Does the belief that supposedly the Uchiha was organizing a coup mean anything to any of you?"
All startled by that sentence as they looked at him with disbelief, "That was my thought as well. Fugaku may have been an asshole most of the time. But he was a loyal one."
"That sheds a whole new light on the massacre." Commented Asuma.
Nodding his head, Minato looks at Shikaku with purpose. "As commander, do what you can to find out the details, I want to know who is behind that. Check with Tsunade and Shizune they have already started," he stated. "Have Iniochi aid you."
Said Yamanaka nodded his head as the man remained in his chair as Minato spoke. "Naruto is also promoted to chuunin, and I have one last secret to tell you as well no one knows but her and Naruto"
Explaining about the sealing, the group looked in surprise and then contemplated. "That explains why you want to do his training. With the other half in you, you are more capable of controlling the seals."
"Yes, and it helps that according to the Fox inside me, he is the calmer side, Naruto's is all primal. It is why he seemed more feral as a child." That gaze directed at Tsume, the Inuzuka woman knew he was angry at her. "According to Sakura it was Kiba Inuzuka who helped him channel it." Chuckling, "not to mention Ibiki has him routinely testing ANBU."
A small smile crosses many Shinobi's faces. Some of them had to suffer as victims of the blonde. They eventually realized if they couldn't catch him, they needed to work themselves more in training. It's how they got promoted in their fields. Naruto may not be a literal genius like the Uchiha was. But his ability to think on his feet was out of bounds.
"Now any questions on promoting one Naruto Namikaze to Chuunin?"
Looking at one another as no one's hands go up, Minato smiles. His eyes gleaming in the light he starts talking about security. Knowing he can summon the frogs, the man keeps in close contact with Jiraiya. The man checking on his informants at the moment, he has already gotten word to him and the others concerning Akatsuki.
This latest report, states something that he knows who to send out for. "Shizune."
Said woman coming in, she looks curiously at a group of men and women in the office. "Yes?"
"Tell Owl to come here." He replied as he remembered reading a report that he was an ANBU teammate alongside his former student. Considering he was still working on control; the man would be good to keep an eye on his son as Kakashi was on bed rest. It was a bonus as he had read the report, that despite what happened to him. The man could use Mokuton. Extra insurance if he was not around or able to help his son when he needed it.
Gesturing for Shikaku and Hiashi to stay, he waits and minutes later the ANBU agent shows up. "Owl, right now you are off ANBU. You are to take over from Kakashi as leader of Team 7. And right now, you have a mission."
Taking off his mask, to reveal a tall brunette, his eyes brown and huge. A jounin known simply as Yamato bows. Nonplussed about Minato's return, he speaks up, "Yes Hokage-sama. May I ask what the mission is?"
"Right now, the mission is to find Orichimaru who has been seen around there. So, we may be dealing with a lab of his, also we have reason to believe the Uchiha boy is with him. Therefore, two things: One try and see what that Snake is up to. And two, bring back Sasuke Uchiha."
