Chapter 4

The shove was hard, and Zoro was now standing between them. Zoro kept his gaze on Law and growled, lowering his head and flattening his ears. Law didn't growl back, although he wanted to. This alpha wolf was disrespecting an Alpha Prime, though if Law told Zoro that, it was unlikely the male would listen. Luffy's wolf just looked confused, his head tilted slightly from side to side.

"I was just out for a walk," Law said to Zoro.

"You were spying on us," Zoro said.

"I wasn't spying," Law said. "I was just passing by."

"It's okay, Zoro," Said Luffy, coming to stand by his friend. "No need to get defensive! Traffy won't bother us! Why do you come fishing with us?" Luffy offered to Law.

"I still don't want to get my wounds wet," Law told him. His wolf wanted to be close to Luffy, but Zoro's body was still in the way. "I'm clearly causing an issue by being here," he said to Zoro. "I'll head back to the village."

"No! You can stay here and hang out with us! I say it's okay," Luffy said the last part to Zoro, who obeyed and stepped out from between them.

Law agreed to stay, and he remained in his wolf form, sitting far away from Zoro on the bank of the stream. Law never took his eyes off Luffy. The omega was so carefree, friendly, and naive that Law still couldn't believe someone like Luffy existed. Luffy continued to splash around in the water, having enough fun for all of them.

Law's alpha thoughts began to take over as he continued to watch Luffy. There's no doubt in his mind that Luffy is a virgin omega, and Law wants to be his first. His competition was Zoro. It would be hard to get the omega alone with the other alpha always following him. He would need to somehow distract Zoro, so he could get alone time with Luffy. His wolf was not backing down from wanting to mate and claim the Omega Prime. But cockblock Zoro is in the way.

He thought back to their time at the dining table, and Law had noticed the cook's eyes were always on Zoro. Sanji likely had feelings for Zoro, though Zoro didn't seem to notice or to care. That gave Law a thought. He would make conversation with Zoro about Luffy and Sanji.

"Do you wish to mate with your Omega Prime?" Law asked Zoro.

"...If he asks, then yes. If not, then no," Zoro replied.

"You know, I notice the cook is always looking at you,"

"He and I don't get along," Zoro said.

"Opposites attract,"

"What are you getting at?" Zoro asked, turning his wolf head to look at the other. "I don't like the way you look at my Omega Prime. You seem to forget that you are a stranger here in our pack,"

"Luffy doesn't think so," Law countered. "If you're not going to make a move on Luffy, then you should give the cook a chance."

"My duty as second in command is to ensure Luffy's safety. He's…difficult to watch over."

"Well, you're being a fool then," Law said. "If Luffy wanted you as a mate, he would have asked you already."

Zoro started to growl low in his chest. "You better not try anything with him," Zoro warned.

"That's for your Omega Prime to decide, not you."

Before Zoro could retort, they heard movement behind them. Both wolves turned to see Sanji approaching them. Law couldn't help but stare at Sanji's almost dark, sandy fur. He had never seen a wolf with that coloring.

"I've been wondering where you all went," Said Sanji, joining them. "I will be making lunch soon."

Luffy heard the word 'lunch' and raced out of the stream. He shook himself dry, splashing the other three with water. "You said lunch?" Luffy's tail was wagging.

"Yeah. I'll be making lunch soon, so you guys should come back to the village." Said Sanji.

"Oh yeah! Lunchtime! Lunch, lunch, lunch!" Luffy was already trotting away and the three wolves followed behind.

Law kept a few short steps behind the other two. An Alpha Prime is to always be at the front, as is the unofficial pack dynamics. But Law wasn't like that. In fact, he was the opposite. Whenever his pack was on patrol or going on hunts, he would always be the last in the group so he could keep an eye on his pack. He can't watch over his pack if he's in front. The other two wolves didn't notice him walking behind, and Luffy was already far ahead of them.

Law wondered what it would be like to choose Luffy as a mate. The omega was the leader, so what would that make him? Luffy is the only Omega Prime he's ever heard of. That wasn't pack dynamics. Luffy might not even want a mate because that means he wouldn't be able to lead his pack. Authority should be handed over the Alpha Prime. The Alpha Prime sets the laws, the rules and has strict control over the pack. Luffy's pack was small, but they were all happy with the way things were. Law wasn't sure he would like to be second prime. Unless Luffy chose to rule together. That would be for the best.

He had to get Luffy alone to talk with him, but Zoro always seemed to be nearby. He probably could see Luffy at night. When they're eating, he'll whisper it to Luffy in passing to meet him at night.

When they got back to the village, they transformed back into humans and went their separate ways. Luffy went with Sanji to pester him as he cooked while Zoro just sat at the feasting table. Law was feeling a little tired from being in his wolf form for so long after being injured, so he decided to take a short nap. Chopper was mixing herbs in the cabin, and Law asked the deer to wake him up when it was time for lunch.

Luffy sat at the table in the kitchen cabin as Sanji started to make lunch. He liked to watch the blond cook, and his stomach was growling for food. It was a nice change from his inner wolf wanting to be with Law. Law's wolf was as handsome as his human form. Luffy blushed a little at the word 'handsome.' It wasn't a lie. He did find Law attractive. He liked calling him 'Traffy' too. He definitely wanted to be around Traffy more, but still not as much as being around food. Sanji was cooking the meat, and the smell was just as good as Traffy's. But he was still confused about his feelings.

"Hey, Sanji?"

"I'm not giving you a sample of the food," Sanji replied right away.

"No, that's not what I was going to ask,"

Sanji flipped the meat, sizzling it in the pan. "Then what is it?"

"Remember our talk the other night at the pond? I think I really like Traffy, but I don't know what to do about it. Zoro is pretty strict about keeping an eye on Traffy because he's a stranger. But I think he's a great guy!"

"It sounds like you found your fated mate," Sanji smiled.

"You think so?" Luffy blinked a few times as he thought. "Yeah, I guess. I know I like how he smells, and his wolf form is cool. Don't tell anyone this, but I kissed him when he was sleeping the other night."

Sanji looked over his shoulder at Luffy. "Did you really? And he didn't wake up?"

"Nope. He kept on sleeping. I liked the kiss, and I want to kiss him again."

"Well, the first thing you have to do is get Zoro to stop keeping you two apart."

"I don't want to hurt Zoro's feelings, though. I always thought I would take Zoro as an alpha mate if I ever wanted, but I know that you like him, so I wouldn't actually do it,"

Sanji paused his cooking. "I'm not that obvious, am I?"

Luffy smiled. "Nope! I just figured it out on my own! I'm the Omega Prime! It's part of my job to look after my pack mates! I think you should make a move on Zoro. I don't think he'll say no."

"...I'll think about it. Let me finish cooking. I don't want to mess anything up."

Luffy laughed and said, "You could never make a bad dish, Sanji! Even if you tried!"

When it was time to eat, Law made sure to get a seat next to Luffy. Luffy sat at the head of the table, and Zoro was seated on the other side. Law was trying to find a chance to whisper to Luffy. He needed Zoro to be distracted. The chance came when Sanji and Zoro started bickering. Law leaned over to Luffy and said,

"Meet me tonight in the cherry orchard,"

Luffy, mouth full of meat, looked at him with a light blush and nodded. Then, the omega went back to gobbling food. Law noticed the blush, and he thought it was incredibly cute. He didn't often find things 'cute' or even use the term, but it just fit Luffy's personality. He still has yet to see the omega fight.

But their lunch was interrupted by the sound of a howl, and it was a howl of distress. Everyone heard it, and Nami jumped up and said that it was Brooks' howl. Law wasn't sure what was going on, but he changed into his wolf form with the others. A dark brown wolf raced into the village with five other wolves following him.

Luffy took off right away, followed by Zoro and Sanji. Law chose to stay with the others and help protect them. He wasn't sure what was going on and would only fight if he needed to. But he watched Luffy attack the wolves, biting, snarling, and kicking. Luffy kicked one with his back legs and knocked down another with his front paws. Then, Luffy grabbed the scruff of another wolf and tossed the wolf in the air. The wolf landed on another wolf and they let out yelps. Sanji kicked at a wolf, and his kicks were strong, knocking the wolf far back. Sanji's kicks were stronger than Luffy's. Zoro's jaws were vicious as they chomped and bit, using the hold to flip the wolves over and use his front paws to claw at their underbelly.

The small pack of wolves quickly turned tail and ran away, yelping and yipping. Law was impressed with Luffy's fighting skills. Luffy managed to toss a wolf bigger than him like it was a ragdoll. All three of them fought well. Then, Law noticed the new wolf named Brook, who had minimal attack wounds on his fur. He transformed into a tall, lanky male with big, curly hair. They all returned to their human forms, and Luffy came over with Zoro and Sanji.

"How bad are you hurt?" Chopper asked Brook right away.

"I'm alright, for the most part," Replied Brook. "I didn't mean to lead them here, but I had no choice. They were a small pack of rogue wolves."

"Well, we made quick work of them!" Luffy said proudly.

"How did the patrol go otherwise?" Zoro asked.

"Uneventful until now," Brook said. "All was safe and clear." Brook then noticed Law. "Oh, and who is this?"

"This is Traffy, our new friend!" Luffy said. "He's staying with us for a while until he's better. We're going to help him get his pack back!"

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you then, Traffy." Said Brook.

"It's Trafalgar Law, actually," Law said. "Just call me Law."

"Yeah, Traffy is my name for him!" Luffy gave Law a playful punch in the arm.

"We all take turns going on patrols around the area," Robin told Law. "Usopp is next to go."

"Already? It feels like I just did!" Usopp said.

Law returned to his seat and listened to Brook tell everyone what he saw or didn't see. After lunch, Law left to take a walk through the tangerine orchard. He helped himself to one and took a seat underneath the tree. He let the shade of the tree cover his face from the sun. The tangerine was tart, and he liked it.

Law had to think about what he wanted to say to Luffy tonight. His inner wolf was excited about it, and that was the confusing part. He never thought of himself as an alpha who would want an omega, especially one that was outside of his pack. But he couldn't stop thinking about Luffy, and if that was the whole fated mates thing, then Luffy is the one. He would have to wait and see what Luffy says tonight. He plucked another tangerine.

Luffy sat anxiously in his cabin in front of the fire, waiting for nightfall. He kept looking out the window, waiting for the sun to set and wishing it would set faster. He kept wondering what Traffy wanted to talk about tonight. Luffy wondered if it had anything to do with their strange connection. Luffy's inner wolf was eager to see the other, so Traffy must be feeling the same way. What was he going to say? What should he say or do? Would Traffy lead the conversation? Would he ask them to be mates? Luffy pulled his straw hat down over his eyes in frustration. He just wanted to see and speak to Traffy.

Finally, the sun had set, and it was starting to get dark. Only a little more time, Luffy thought, as he paced in his cabin. He thought back to the kiss he gave Traffy, and wondered if the other alpha knew about it or had felt it. He had never kissed anyone before, but he wanted to kiss Traffy. He wanted to kiss him and nuzzle him and hunt with him…and…mate with him? Luffy felt his face flush quickly. He didn't know anything about mating because it was never a thing for him until Traffy showed up.

In fact, he wasn't sure if anyone in his pack actually mated. Sometimes, they would wander off when they were near a heat or a rut, but Luffy never gave any thought to it. Whenever he went into heat, he would keep himself locked up in his cabin, and Zoro would guard outside. Not that he feared his pack mates would attempt anything, but there always were rogue alphas wandering who could smell an omega in heat from far away.

The sky was finally dark, and Luffy took a deep breath before stepping out of his cabin. He looked around for signs of his pack or Zoro, but all was quiet. He saw some candles and lanterns in the windows, so he would have to be careful. Luffy hurried to the cherry orchard, checking to make sure no one was following him. He wasn't sure where Traffy would be in the orchard, but he picked up on the alpha's smell and followed it. Traffy soon came into view, and his back was towards Luffy. Luffy could see hints of tattoos peeking from underneath bandages. The alpha's back and shoulders were broad, Luffy noticed, and he swallowed the lump in his throat. He wasn't normally an anxious person, but he was definitely feeling it now.

"H-Hey…" Luffy managed to get out.

Law turned around. "Hey. You came,"

Luffy nodded. "Yeah. So…um…what did you want to talk about?" Luffy didn't move when Law walked up to him, but he did have to tilt his head back to look up at the alpha.

"Does your wolf feel the same way mine does when we're not together?" Law asked.

"My wolf? It does want to be with you," Luffy replied. "Does yours feel that way too?"

Law nodded. "Yeah," he said and glanced away. "I've never felt this before, and it's only with you."

Luffy rubbed the back of his head nervously. "S-Same. I…I guess that means we're-"

"Fated mates?" Law finished for him.

Luffy blushed. "Y-Yeah. I guess so."

Both their inner wolves were howling, and Luffy was the first to transform. Law transformed right after, and it was Luffy who made the first move. He leaned his head in to nuzzle Law's neck, feeling the slightly rough fur beneath his chin. Luffy sniffed and licked at Law's neck, and Law reacted by resting his head on Luffy's back. Luffy's wolf was happy, and he nipped at Law's ear, his tail wagging. Law did the same, and the two were in a pleasant wrestling match. It was Law who got Luffy down to the ground on his back, exposing his white belly. Law nuzzled the downy fur with his nose, taking in all of Luffy's sweet scent. Luffy felt the tickle of Law's nose on his belly and rolled over, transforming back into a human. Law did the same, and once again, Luffy excitedly made the next move.

Luffy threw his arms around Traffy's neck and brought their lips into a kiss. It was awkward at first because they bumped noses. Luffy had to stand on his tip-toes to kiss him. He didn't know what more to do, but the other did. Luffy felt Traffy's tongue push past his lips and invade his mouth. He let out a little moan as Traffy's tongue touched his. Luffy did the same with his tongue, sliding it along Traffy's. Traffy pulled him in close, pressing their bodies together. Traffy's arms held him strong around the waist, and Luffy could feel something poking against his lower belly. He knew right away what it was and pulled away from the kiss to gasp.

"Sorry…" Law said, gritting his teeth. He was hard, but he couldn't do anything about it. He would not force himself on Luffy and take the omega up against a tree or on the hard ground like a rabid beast. He feared that, should he continue kissing Luffy like this, his wolf would go into a rut. If that happened, he might not be able to fully control himself. He pushed away from Luffy, hanging his head. "I'm sorry,"

"T-Traffy?"

Law turned away, transformed into a wolf, and took off into the woods. He hoped Luffy wouldn't follow him. Law ran as fast as his injuries would let him, and he came upon the pond. He couldn't sense Luffy nearby, which was a good thing. He couldn't risk getting his wounds wet, but a cold dip in that pond would cease his arousal. Luffy's lips tasted sweet, and the awkwardness of the kiss proved the omega's innocence. When he was a younger male alpha, he was with some omegas, but only because it was expected of him. His wolf cared too much for Luffy to want to just mount him on instinct. He rarely gets into ruts, and when he does, he just locks himself away. He assumed Luffy did the same. If Luffy somehow goes into heat…then there might not be anything stopping them.

"Traffy?"

Law growled low, refusing to turn around. If he looked at Luffy, he might not be able to help himself.

"Go back home, Luffy," Law said.

"Are you…okay?" Luffy asked a little timidly.

"Just go home. Go back to your cabin," Law heard four paws coming over to him. He still wouldn't chance looking at Luffy. He felt the wolf's head slide along his scruff, sniffing at his ear. "Stop, Luffy," Law commanded, trying not to sound too harsh.

"But-"

"I said stop!" Law swiftly turned and snapped his jaws at him. Luffy jumped back, clearly appearing hurt, with his wolf ears flattened. Law looked away again. "Just…go back to your cabin."

"...okay."

Law heard the hurt in Luffy's voice, and it made his inner wolf ache to be with him more. He heard Luffy walking away, his scent getting further and further away. Law let out the breath he was holding, staring at his reflection in the pond. Maybe it's best not to have a mate right now, he thought. There was still Doflamingo to deal with, and if that bastard Alpha Prime knew he had a mate…it made Law growl out loud. Luffy said he would help him fight, but an alpha can sense when an omega is mated. It would just add one more challenge to his already difficult fight.

After some time had passed, Law returned to the village. It was quiet. All the lights were out even Luffy's cabin. Law turned back into his human form and went into Chopper's cabin. He got into bed, folded his arms behind his head, and closed his eyes, trying not to think about Luffy. He had a terrible night's sleep.

The next morning, Law got up, feeling exhausted, but had to relieve himself. After that, he stepped outside and arched his back, cracking it slightly. He looked around but didn't see anyone. He did, however, see Zoro sitting outside of Luffy's cabin, directly in front of the door. Law caught a scent on the gentle breeze, and his wolf knew what it was. That's the reason Zoro was sitting in front of Luffy's cabin; Luffy was in heat. Law could smell it plain as day, and his inner wolf howled to go to the omega. He hurried over to Luffy's cabin, but Zoro stopped him. Law could smell and sense Luffy's heat just behind the door. Zoro wasn't budging.

"Let me pass," Law said. His wolf was going wild with the need to mount and mate. He had never felt a rut this intense before.

"No one is allowed here, especially you," Zoro crossed his arms and planted his feet firmly on the ground.

Law had to admit he was impressed with Zoro's ability not to be affected by the smell of an omega in heat. The green-haired alpha was not moving, and he didn't like the look Zoro was giving him. Law's wolf form took over, and he transformed. Zoro did the same, and both were staring the other down, their hackles up and their tails and ears flat on their heads.

"Get out of my way," Law warned Zoro.

"I won't," Zoro growled.

Shamefully, Law let his Alpha Prime side come out, and he bared his fangs. "An alpha like you should submit and bow to an Alpha Prime when they stand before you!" Law snarled, stomping one front paw on the ground. The smell of Luffy was driving him crazy.

"I recognize no Prime but Luffy," Zoro countered harshly and growled.

Law, driven by alpha desire, attacked Zoro first. The two were suddenly engaged in a brawl of teeth and claws, snarling and growling. Their fight alerted the others to come out of their cabins.

"Someone stop them!" Nami shouted.

Luffy didn't know what was going on outside, but there was a lot of noise. Then, he could sense Law was near, and his heat intensified tenfold. Being with Law last night had triggered his heat, and it came on in the early morning. Luffy had to get Zoro, who accompanied him back to the cabin and stood guard outside. The sounds of fighting, growling, and snarling alerted Luffy that something was wrong. He could smell Law's alpha rut, and it turned him on more. But something was terribly wrong. Luffy forced himself from his bed and went to the window. There, he saw Zoro and Law's wolves engaged in a fight. He gasped and ran to the door, throwing it open.
