Author's Note: My prompt was Hit Clips, which was a small plastic keychain that held a tiny chip inside containing the chorus of popular songs on. You could only plug them into a special speaker to play it. I went with music, dancing, and mentions of a couple popular songs of the late 1990's-2000's that were also featured as Hit Clips as inspiration for this piece. Muggle!AU; College!AU

Dancing With the Neon Light

It wasn't something the couple did on a whim often, but it felt like that spontaneousness needed to happen to check off of the college experience list. Harry was perfectly content just attending classes, lectures, and study hours. Luna was more outgoing, and he trusted her in knowing when he needed to have a little extra sprinkled into their otherwise mundane and predictable schedules.

That was how Harry found himself at a Frat house painting his soulmate in vibrant neon purples, blues, and greens to match the unicorn two-piece bikini and iridescent combat boots she had on. Her blonde hair was in a messy bun, but the blacklight they danced under had it glowing as bright as the neon yellow paint that was speckled over his warm sienna skin. It mixed with a vibrant orange that helped his own swim trunks pop with its sunset color palette. Together the couple almost made a rainbow.

Once the pair finished with their respective colored mix of glitter they put together at the glitter bar, Harry couldn't help but laugh at the squeal Luna made when she closed her eyes for him to shower her with the body glitter, making sure it stuck to the still damp paint, but he had given a smidgen of the leftover a toss over her hair. The glimmer it shined under the light was quite beautiful, bedazzling them both even more when the light above switched to solid colors and the beat of the music thrumming in his chest matched his heartbeat.

Familiar lyrics echoed through the large space, and Harry recognized the voice of P!nk revving up the room with Get the Party Started. Regardless of the rave-like college party being fully underway for over two hours now, the song still slapped and Harry became lost to the music as he danced close to Luna. Holding her hand so he wouldn't lose her, their leaf-like tattoos on their wrists shimmered from their movements and contact of their own accord, and he enjoyed watching Luna change in beauty with the various lights hitting her.

He still liked the blacklight best, though. The freckles of glitter popped with the paint, making her and everyone around them look like a living canvas while under its effects. When the song shifted into another familiar artist Harry knew was Britney Spears Oops, I Did It Again, the heat from the closeness of bodies was starting to take its toll on him. While Luna was dancing up against him, he leaned over her shoulder to whisper,

"Let's take a break and grab a drink."

She nodded in response, and she grasped his hand tightly while he weaved his way through the crowd to the makeshift bar shoved against a wall. Harry was quite wary of all the open self-serve punch bowls of varying flavors, and even the large kegs that peppered around the table as well. He opted to check under the table where a cooler was hiding and grabbed a couple bottled waters stashed inside it for them both.

As the chorus sounded off, Harry and Luna decided to tuck themselves in a less crowded part of the main floor to hydrate and rejuvenate. Before they even had a chance to remove the lids of the bottles, a tall, dark-skinned beauty appeared in front of them. Harry could've sworn they were a neon angel in disguise. They were painted mostly in vibrant pink, with yellow and green swirling around his arms. They grabbed the bottles from their hands before they could react and threw them in the adjacent room.

"They're spiked," they said, offering their hands out to them. "I'll show you where the safe water is."

Luna seemed to have spotted the mark on their wrist a split second before Harry had, as they both made curious eye contact with each other at the discovery of the leaf-like tattoo beneath the paint and body glitter. They quickly accepted their hands, and the sound of the party drastically faded out as they left the space entirely from a side door. A detached garage was just on the other side, and the angelic person opened the door for them to view the space before entering.

It wasn't a garage at all, but more like a small apartment. It had a small kitchenette off of a large lounge space that had various table and arcade games setup. Another door contained a small powder room off the kitchen. Harry and Luna decided to enter, turning to face their savior once they were comfortably situated.

"I didn't mean to alarm you, but I have observed that whoever goes for the water…"

"No need to explain," Harry said with a wave of his hand. "We don't attend parties often and aren't well versed in Party 101."

"We are grateful for your intervention," Luna added. "I'm Luna. This is my partner Harry."

"Blaise," they said, holding out a hand again. "It is a pleasure to meet you both."

When Luna and Harry accepted their handshake simultaneously, the leaf-like marks on their wrists seemed to glow rainbow colors.

"Well, that's new," Luna said, observing their tattoos reaction to each other. "I suppose this was meant to be."

Harry watched as their marks etched themselves over everyone's skin, completing an entwined triangular pattern.

"A triquetra," Luna commented, nodding.

"Beautiful," Blaise said, observing the new form the tattoo took. "I have always wondered what it meant. I've had it since—"

"We were born," the couple said together.

Blaise smiled. "Yes."

Harry could hear a new song blasting from the house next door. Somehow the music grew louder, and the voices of NSYNC made the space strangely ambient between the three and their newfound relationship. Instead of rejoining the party after being safely rehydrated with the filtered tap water, the trio occupied the couch and got to know each other instead. From exchanging their majors and special interests to even playing a few matches of air hockey and Mortal Kombat, the three clicked faster than Harry could imagine.

Harry had to admit the scare with the spiked water made him wary of ever wanting to come to another Frat party, but he was glad that they are able to tick off their experiences with crowds, loud music, meeting someone new, and having a scary close call all in one night.

In the end, it gave them another person to share their life with, and it was all thanks to a little leaf-like mark on their wrists to seal the deal.
