Chapter 14: Family Values
Jules and Bernie's House, 10 PM
The family had dinner, and basically caught up on what was going on, as well as Tails calling over the wrist communicator to let everyone know that Cream had found the 3rd Chaos Emerald and that they would depart first thing in the morning, meaning basically at dawn.
"Sonic, thank you so much for bringing us here." Sonia said, hugging her brother.
"It's no big deal. I just guessed that you would want to come here." Sonic replied.
"Well, we're glad you did." Bernie said, walking in.
"Well, it was no problem. I remember when Sonic first came to meet you two." Amy added.
"How did that go?" Manic asked.
"Well."
"Well, thanks for making my brother happy, little sis." Sonia kissed Amy's cheek, causing her to blush.
"The feeling's mutual."
Amy walked over and kissed Sonic's cheek, causing the Blue Blur to blush, and Sarah to stick out her tongue in disgust.
"Ew." She groaned.
"Got that right, kid." Manic laughed.
"Well, we better hit the hay. Tails wants us back to the Sky Warrior at dawn." Sonic said.
Everyone exchanged good nights and all sorts, then retired for the night.
Station Square Hotel, 12 AM
"So I'm guessing that you still want to hear about my parents, don't you?" Rouge said, getting into bed.
"Yes, if you want to. If you don't want to talk about it, Rouge, you don't have to." Knuckles told her softly.
"You're my husband, Knuckles. I think you have a right to know." Rouge answered. "My parents were nothing but horrible people. They lived to make other peoples' lives miserable. I was never mistreated by them, but I didn't like them, which prompted me to run away when I was 6. I had to teach myself a lot of things. I became a thief to help myself, and it just became second nature over time. Then, when I was 18, I ran into you and the others, in which you know how the rest goes." Rouge sighed.
Knuckles took her hand in his.
"I'm sorry, Rouge."
"Don't be, They deserve no one's sympathy in my book."
"I don't blame you."
Rouge smiled and kissed Knuckles' cheek.
"Good night, Knuckie. Remember, we have to get up early."
"Yeah, I know. Night, Bat Girl."
