Konikoni City
After exiting Diglett's Cave, the group find themselves walking through Konikoni City.
"This looks like a nice place for shopping." said Sarah, looking at all the merchant shops.
"It is." said Maxiley. They arrived at the Pokemon Center; after entering and giving the nurse their Pokemon, they go to the cafeteria and got some lunch.
"So, Maxiley; you said there's a store that sells evolution stones?" asked Edd.
"Yeah; fossils too." replied Maxiley, making Edd's jaw drop.
"Really?!" asked Edd.
"Yeah, but only one per customer." said Maxiley. "Oh, and Kahuna Olivia actually owns the store."
"Cool." said Ed. After they finished eating, the group picked up their Pokemon from the nurse and exited the Pokemon Center. Maxiley lead them to Olivia's jewelry store, and they walked inside. They looked around and Edd sees a display counter that has fossils in it.
"Rapture." said Edd as he quickly walks to the display shelf and observes the fossils. The others were looking at another display shelf full of evolution stones. A clerk walks over to them.
"You kids see anything you like?" asked the clerk.
"What kind of stones are these?" asked Sarah. The clerk takes out a green stone that appeared to have a lightning bolt in it.
"This, young lady, is a Thunder Stone." said the clerk.
"Sarah; didn't Double D say that one of those will evolve an Eevee into a Jolteon?" asked Jimmy.
"Hey, yeah!" replied Sarah. "I'll take a Thunder Stone!"
"Very good." replied the clerk.
"You know, Jimmy; a Thunder Stone can also evolve your Pikachu." said Edd from the fossil display case.
"Really?" replied Jimmy. He turns towards the clerk. "I'll buy a Thunder Stone too."
"So what other stones do you have?" asked Sarah. The clerk pulls out a blue stone.
"This is called a Water Stone." said the clerk.
"You know, Eddy; a Water Stone will evolve your Poliwhirl to his final form." said Edd.
"Sweet." said Eddy. "I'll take one Water Stone, ma'am."
"Very well." replied the clerk. Eddy, Sarah, and Jimmy then purchased the stones. After that, the group exits the store. Eddy lets out his Poliwhirl, Jimmy lets out his Pikachu, and Sarah lets out her Eevee.
"Let's get evolving!" said Eddy as he touches his Poliwhirl with his Water Stone. Once he does, Poliwhirl starts to glow and change. When he was done, his body looked a bit bigger and brawnier, plus had a more serious look in his eyes. Edd points the Rotom Pokedex at Eddy's newly evolved Poliwhirl.
"Poliwrath, the Tadpole Pokemon, and the final form of Poliwag. The muscles it has developed through swimming are thick and powerful. When it lands a square punch, it can turn huge boulders to dust." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Whoa! Poliwrath sounds like a heavy hitter!" said Eddy.
"Well, the Rotom Pokedex says that Poliwrath is part fighting type, and has learned Submission after evolving." said Edd. Eddy then remembered the TM for Brick Break that Jimmy found in Verdant Cavern.
"Hey, Jimmy; can I borrow that Brick Break TM?" asked Eddy. "I want to use it on Poliwrath."
"Okay, Eddy." said Jimmy. He hands the TM to Eddy, and he loads into the Rotom Pokedex. He then uses it to teach Poliwrath Brick Break.
"Thanks, Jimmy." said Eddy as he returns the TM to Jimmy.
"You know, Ed; I believe Ampharos can learn Brick Break also." said Edd.
"Oh boy!" said Ed. "Jimmy; may I borrow your TM?"
"Sure, Ed." replied Jimmy, giving Ed the TM. He loads the TM into the Rotom Phone and teaches Ampharos Brick Break.
"Thanks, Jimmy." said Ed and he returns the TM to Jimmy.
Sarah touches her Eevee with her Thunder Stone, and she begins to glow. When the glowing stopped, Eevee was bigger and now had spiky yellow fur with a spiky white mane around her neck and chest. Edd points the Rotom Pokedex at Sarah's newly evolved Eevee.
"Jolteon, the Lightning Pokemon, and the evolved form of Eevee. Its fur stands on end, becoming like needles it fires at enemies. Once they're weakened, it finishes them off with a 10,000-volt shock." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"According to this, Sarah; your Jolteon learned Thunder Shock and she now has the Volt Absorb ability, which causes electric type attacks that hit her to heal her instead of harming her." said Edd.
"Whoa, neato." said Sarah.
"Now for Pikachu." said Jimmy as he touches his Pikachu with his Thunder Stone. Pikachu starts to glow and change. When he was done, he was bigger, his fur was a light shade of orange with a cream-colored belly, his ears were curved, and his tail was long with the end of it looking like a lightning bolt with curves. Edd points the Rotom Pokedex at Jimmy's newly evolved Pikachu.
"Raichu, the Mouse Pokemon, and the final form of Pichu. When you rub its cheeks, a sweet fragrance comes wafting out. However, you'll also get a light shock!" said the Rotom Pokedex.
"That's weird." said Eddy. "This doesn't look like Volkner's Raichu."
"That's because Raichus in Alola look different from ones you find anywhere else." explained Maxiley.
"Intriguing." said Edd. "And this says that Alolan Raichus are part psychic types, he learned Psychic after evolving, and he has the Surge Surfer ability which doubles his speed if something called Electric Terrain is active." Jimmy's Raichu then stands on the end of his tail and starts floating over the ground, then he starts surfing through the air.
"Cool!" said Ed.
"Now all of our Eevees have evolved, everyone." said Edd. After Eddy, Sarah, and Jimmy returned their Pokemon to their pokeballs, the continued walking down Konikoni City. As they did, Maxiley stops and looks at a table full of different colored incense burners at a merchant's shop.
"What's up, Maxiley?" asked Eddy.
"Even if I don't have a Z-Ring; I can still power up my Pupitar's rock moves with a Rock Incense and my Vaporeon's water moves with a Wave Incense." said Maxiley. "I figure having them might help my chances of beating Mask Royal." He picks up the Rock and Wave Incenses. "I'll take these, sir."
"Very well." said the merchant. After paying for the Incenses, Maxiley lets Pupitar and Vaporeon out of their pokeballs. He gives Pupitar the Rock Incense and Vaporeon the Wave Incense. Edd picks up a purple incense burner.
"You know, Sarah, this Odd Incense can power up your Mis...Mime's psychic type attacks." said Edd.
"Really? Okay, Double-D." said Sarah. She takes out pokedollars from her pocket.
"I'll take an Odd Incense, good sir." said Sarah. She gives the merchant pokedollars and he gives Sarah the Odd Incense.
"Perhaps I should also purchase an Odd Incense for my Espeon." said Edd. "I'll would also like an Odd Incense good sir."
"Wow; one of the Eds bought something from my shop." said the merchant. Edd gives the merchant pokedollars and he gives Edd the Odd Incense. Edd lets Espeon out of her pokeball while Sarah lets Mrs Mime out of hers. Edd and Sarah gives their Pokemon the Odd Incenses. After Edd, Maxiley, and Sarah returned their Pokemon to their pokeballs, the group leaves Konikoni City and down Route 9 on their way to Memorial Hill on their way to the Ruins of Life where the Grand Trial is.
Unbeknownst to them, from deep within the trees near Route 9, a Pokemon that looked similar to Tapu Koko, only with dark pink, tentacle like hair, wearing a pink shell on its lower body that had butterfly wings on it, a pink conical shell on its head and puffy pink bracelets was watching them, and in particular, Maxiley. It looks at a brown sparkling stone in its hands, then back at Maxiley. It floats across the woods, following after the group.
