Hokulani Observatory Trial (Part Two)
Inside the Hokulani Observatory, Molayne leads Ed into the room where the trial he must face is.
"Alola, trial-goer; I am Sophocles, the Trial Captain here." said Sophocles.
"Alola; I am Ed." said Ed. Sophocles shows Ed the platform that had three Charjabugs on it. After Sophocles explained to Ed what he had to do, he got started. It was difficult for Ed at first, but he eventually was able to line up the three Charjabugs, channeling energy into the device. It activates and begins to shake. An Elekid walks into the room. A sad look appeared on Ed's face. Seeing Elekid reminded him of his Electivire back when he was an Elekid back in Sinnoh. He shook his head to regain his composure.
"Ed; this Elekid might damage the equipment here, so would you battle this Pokemon?" asked Sophocles.
"Okay." said Ed and he pulls out a pokeball. "Decidueye, come out!" He throws Decidueye's pokeball and releases him. "Decidueye, use Razor Leaf!" Decidueye throws leaves from his wings and they hit Elekid, knocking it back. Elekid jumps at Decidueye and tries to kick him, but its foot went right through him. "Leafage!" Decidueye spreads his wings and releases glowing green leaves from his body and they hit Elekid, knocking it out. "Good work, Decidueye." Decidueye nods in response.
"It seem you need to channel more energy into the device, Ed." said Sophocles.
"Okey dokey." replied Ed. He goes to the platform and pushes some of the buttons to line up the Charjabugs and was able to line them up perfectly, channeling more energy into the device and activates it. This time, an Electabuzz appeared. Ed kept himself focused. Electabuzz charges at Decidueye with incredible speed, but it goes right through him. "Spirit Shackle!" Decidueye fires an orange quiver arrow with one of the vines hanging from him and it hits Electabuzz. It forms a ball of electricity in its hands, and it throws it at Decidueye, hitting it, but not doing much damage to him. "Use Razor Leaf!" Decidueye throws leaves from his wing, and they hit Electabuzz, knocking it out.
"Well done, Ed." said Sophocles. "You probably need to generate a little more energy into the device to summon the Totem Pokemon. Ed nods and walks to the platform and begins to rearrange the Charjabugs until he was able to line them up in the position they needed to be. Energy begins to transfer into the device, and it begins to shake. A bolt of electricty shoots out from the device towards Sophocles. The Totem Pokemon jumps in front of the electricity and absorbs it into its body. "Ed, this is the Titan Pokemon you need to beat to pass the trial."
"Okay." said Ed. He returns Decidueye to his pokeball and pulls out another one. "Flareon, go!" He throws Flareon's pokeball and releases her. "Flareon, Fire Fang!" Flareon leaps at the Titan Pokemon while her fangs were covered in fire and she bites onto the big Togedemaru, dealing super effective damage. Flareon flinches in pain from the Totem Pokemon's Iron Barbs ability. Fire surrounded the Totem Pokemon's body. It spins around while electricty surrounded its body and it rams into Flareon, knocking her back, and making her flinch. The Totem Pokemon flinches in pain from its burn. The Totem Pokemon rams into Flareon, but not doing much damage to her. It flinches in pain from its burn. "Fire Spin!" Flareon releases a stream of fire from her mouth, and it circles around the Totem Pokemon, and deals super effective damage to it. The Totem Pokemon spins while becoming surrounded by electricity and flies towards Flareon. "Dodge it!" Flareon jumps to the side, dodging the Titan Pokemon. It flinches in pain from its burn, and it collapses.
"Congratulations, Ed; you defeated the Titan Pokemon, therefore passing the trial." said Sophocles.
"Yeah!" cheered Ed. He runs to Flareon and hugs her. "Good job, Flareon." Sophocles walks to Ed and pulls an Electrium-Z Crystal out of his pocket.
"For passing the trial, I reward you with the Electrium-Z." said Sophocles. He gives Ed the Electrium-Z.
"Thanks." replied Ed. Sophocles then shows Ed the poses he needs to do to use the Electrium-Z. Moments later, Ed and Molayne walked to Ed, Edd, Sarah, Jimmy, and Maxiley.
"So, how did you do?" asked Eddy. Ed shows them the Electrium-Z.
"Congratulations, Ed." said Edd.
"Way to go, big brother." said Sarah.
"Thanks." said Ed. Molayne walks to the group.
"So, which of you will be taking on the trial next?" asked Molayne.
"I believe I shall." said Edd.
"Very well." said Molayne. He then leads Edd to the trial room where he marvels at all the equipment and machinery inside.
"I want to stay here forever." said Edd. Sophocles then explains to him what he had to do for the trial. Edd does the first Charjabug puzzle easily and the device brings forth an Elekid like it did the others. Edd brings out his Stoutland to deal with it.
"Stoutland, please use Work Up!" said Edd. Stoutland begins working himself into a frenzy, boosting his attack strengths. The Elekid responds by releasing a large jolt of electricity from its body, hitting Stoutland. "Stoutland, please use Crunch!" Stoutland moves towards the Elekid and bites down on it, doing damage, and weakening its defense. The Elekid reacts by hitting him with a fist that's coated in electricity. "Stoutland, use Take Down please!" Stoutland charges at the Elekid and slams into it with enough force to knock it out. He then takes recoil damage.
"Well done, Double-D." said Molayne. "Let's try again, shall we?" Edd solves the second Charjabug puzzle and brings out an Electabuzz. He returns his Stoutland to his pokeball, then brings out his Espeon.
"Espeon, please use Psybeam!" said Edd. Espeon releases a beam of psychic energy from the jewel on her forehead that hits Electabuzz; it begins to stagger around a bit.
"It seems that Psybeam has confused it." said Molayne. The Electabuzz manages to fight through paralysis and hit Espeon with a large jolt of electricity.
"Espeon, use Quick Attack!" said Edd. Espeon moves quickly towards the Electabuzz and slams into it. The Electabuzz tries to attack back, but this time confusion kicks in, making it hurt itself. "Espeon, use Swift!" Espeon whips her tail, releasing a bunch of stars from it, which hit Electabuzz and knocks it out.
"That was impressive." said Molayne. "Let's try one more time." Edd solves the third puzzle and this time; the device brings out the Totem Togedemaru. Edd returns Espeon to her pokeball, and lets Stoutland back out.
"Stoutland, please use Leer!" said Edd. Stoutland glares harshly at the Totem Togedemaru, weakening its defense. The Togedemaru responds by zapping him with a blast of electricity. "Stoutland, please use Bite!" Stoutland bites down on the Totem Togedemaru and hurts himself in the process due to Togedemaru's Iron Barbs ability; the attack also makes it flinch. "Stoutland, use Fire Fang!" Stoutland runs at the Totem Togedemaru with his fangs coated in fire and bites down hard on it, doing super effective damage, and a little to himself. The Totem Togedemaru runs at Stoutland and rams into him with an electric-coated tackle. "Stoutland, one more Fire Fang!" Stoutland hits the Totem Togedemaru with one more fire-coated bite and does enough damage to knock it out; he also takes a bit more damage as well.
"Congratulations, Double-D. You have passed the trial." said Molayne.
"Wonderful." said Edd. Sophocles walks up to Edd and gives him an Electrium-Z Crystal. He then shows Edd the poses needed to activate it.
Twenty minutes later, Edd returns to his friends who were waiting impatiently outside.
"What took you so long, sockhead?" asked Eddy.
"Your friend was quite fascinated with all of Sophocles inventions and wanted to see them all." said Molayne.
"Of course he was." said Eddy. He then steps forward. "Now it's my turn."
"Very well; follow me." said Molayne. Eddy does so and he enters the trial room where the rules are explained to him. He manages to complete the first Charjabug puzzle with some difficulty and powers the machine. A few seconds later, an Elekid appears, and Eddy quickly pulls out a pokeball and throws it, releasing his Leafeon.
"Okay, Leafeon; use Magical Leaf!" said Eddy. Leafeon releases a barrage of glowing, multicolored leaves at Elekid, hitting it. The Elekid responds by releasing a barrage of stars at him that hit and do damage. "Leafeon, use Giga Drain!" Leafeon hits the Elekid with a large stream of green energy which drains enough of its stamina to knock it out, along with restoring some of his own.
"Well done, Eddy." said Molayne. He has Eddy do the second puzzle which he has an easier time with since he got the buttons down from the first one. This time an Electabuzz appears, making him keep his Leafeon out.
"Leafeon, use Razor Leaf!" said Eddy. Leafeon releases a barrage of leaves from his body which does damage to the Electabuzz. It responds by punching him with a fist that's coated in electricity. "Use another Giga Drain, pal!" Leafeon nods and he releases another large stream of green energy that drains more stamina from Electabuzz and heals Leafeon's injuries. Electabuzz then hits him with a large blast of electrcity. "Finish this with Quick Attack!" Leafeon quickly moves towards Electabuzz and slams into it hard enough to knock it out.
"Quite impressive, Eddy." said Molayne. "Let's try one more time." Eddy does the third puzzle and powers the device to its maximum, making the Totem Togedemaru appear. Eddy, remembering what the others told him about Togedemaru, returns his Leafeon to his pokeball and lets out his Incineroar. He then reaches into his pocket and pulls out his Firium-Z Crystal and puts it in his Z-Ring.
"Time to turn up the heat!" said Eddy as he does the poses to activate his Z-Crystal; energy surges up through him, which is then transferred to Incineroar, making the Z-Power symbol appear in front of him. "Use Inferno Overdrive!" Incineroar gathers fire into a large ball in front of him and releases it at the Totem Togedemaru, causing a large fiery explosion that engulfs it; when the smoke cleared, the Totem Togedemaru was charred black, and unconscious.
"Congratulations, Eddy." said Molayne. "Just what I would expect from the Lily of the Valley Conference champion."
"You got that right." said Eddy. Sophocles steps forward and hands Eddy an Electrium-Z Crystal, then shows him the poses needed to activate it.
Eddy then steps outside the observatory and goes over to his friends.
"Check it out!" said Eddy as he holds out his Electrium-Z Crystal.
"You did it, Eddy!" said Ed as he hugs Eddy tightly.
"Ed, let me go!" said Eddy, making Ed release him.
"Yes, Ed; I'm certain he would prefer if Tanya hugged him." said Edd with a smirk, making Eddy smile goofily at the thought, and Jimmy, Sarah, and Maxiley chuckle.
The group has passed their first Island Trial of Ula'ula Island and have moved one step closer to competing in the Alola League and the Junior's Division. What will their next trial be like? Wait and find out.
On the deck of the fishing boat Eddy's brother is on, a man walks over to him.
"The engine's almost fixed, it should be by tomorrow." said the man. "We'll be at Alola in the morning."
"About time!" exclaimed Eddy's brother. Unbeknownst to him, a Wingull was circling above him, and then it did...something to his hat; you don't want to know what, but it did gross him out. Eddy's brother was now currently in the galley (ship kitchen), furiously scrubbing his hat in the sink.
