"I forgot" Jack said again, the silence in the car was like iced water and he knew Ianto had not only been annoyed with having to see Rose but also with the baby talk. "You could have stayed away, I might have had a nicer time with her on my own."

"And told her soooo much more" Ianto added with a nod of his head.

"I said sorry." Jack huffed pouting now.

"I know this is hard for you. I know it's like trying to run in a vat of molasses but sooner or later you have to break free of them. I know you love your sister, the only sibling you have left and she is funny, cute, smart… all those things. But she is also your mother's Flying Monkey. She is gaining info for her, dropping nasty little digs from her at me that you miss… and I know you feel terrible later when you realize something went awry but we can't keep doing this." Ianto tried not to scold but was getting angry. They had an agreement fuck it all.

"There's Donna"

Ianto sighed as he got out of the car and walked toward her, the basket on his arm making her point and pull a face while scolding as she gleefully accepted another gift token. Her grandfather was with her and Ianto let Jack greet him first, the old man liking Jack.

"Wilf" Jack said like he as his best friend "Spiffy today in those shoes my man!"

"Ha. Come to give the girl some dinner after" he explained.

"You've not eaten?" Ianto was instantly on alert, "Are you OK? There are snacks in there you know…"

"Oi Welsh Boy… calm down. I ate a big late brekkie…. I am fine" she laughed "You are such a fusser."

"I know, adorable right?" Jack happily agreed, "Come on. McDuff awaits no man."

"Jack, that didn't even make sense" Ianto sighed, sick of sighing and eyerolling like a curmudgeon but he was still slightly sour on the Mummy Thing. You know. She could pour lemon juice on any sweetness these days.

Soon they were watching the screen, the little one finally turning so they could see a face and Jack was the first to gasp "My lips? My lips?"

"Your ears too" Ianto agreed, "You… ah. My nose."

Do some reason this pleased him beyond anything he could explain. The nose Mica had, the nose his mama had… the nose his son would have. Perfect. He was pleased. This was enough. The rest could be Harkness, even the hair could be a messy mop of madness… but his mama was there in the baby. Rhiannon's egg had provided.

"A couple more months and that little monster will rampage into our lives… oh god… I can't wait. I might have to pee" Jack said like he was the preggers one, taking off out of the room. No one replied as this was not a new thing, Jack often rushing to the loo for a 'pee' when they all knew he would have to wipe a tear of two really. Coming back with red eyes and a wide grin.

"Oh lovely" Ianto purred as the photos were handed over and he handed on back to Donna without a second thought. This being her baby too. She was delighted, holding it on her chest as she knew how lucky she was to have such lovely men.

"And the next one… after this little man is here? Will I carry him or her too?" she asked.

Ianto looked at her with surprise, then laughed as he replied in a voice that she had not heard before, breathy and childlike "I will carry them all in my heart, but you can carry them all first. For luck."

She blinked as her brain finally remembered where she had heard that voice before and she leaned closer "David?"

"Right" Jack slammed into the room "Photos. Ah. Cool, one for me wallet Tiger?"

Ianto turned from Donna and the moment was gone but for her, those few moments where her first childhood crush showed himself to her was something she knew she would never forget. It made this all the more special and it cemented for her for sure that this was David Lloyd, her first love.

Wonderful.

"Oh, he looks like one of us around the nose and cheeks" Rhiannon said, looking the picture "I see Mica in there."

"Me too" Ianto said with delight "My son will be so cute and pretty and spoiled and clever and crafty as a shit house rat. Oh. God. He will be right?"

"I am so happy those eggs went to a good use, I was considering giving them away but knew how much they cost both of us, I sort of… well. All nice to end this way" she sighed happily. "And does he have a name yet?"

"Jack is calling him junior to get a rise out of me so I have started calling him Dwayne." Ianto relied with glee "Who knew he didn't like that name?"

She giggled as she loked at the picture and then asked "Is this one mine?"

"Yes. A part of you too" he agreed, pleased when she rose to place it on the fridge with care, her smile wide.

Seems this incoming little prince would be well loved and cared for.

"No."

"Come on… just a peek" Rose poked her brother cross the desk with her foot, his annoyance clear as he slapped at her bare toes then loked around.

"Where are your shoes? Get your feet off my desk… Ianto will have kittens the size of elephants. Do you have any idea how unhygienic…"

"Oh Ianto Smanto. Such a drag" she scoffed.

"Bringing me to another question. Why did you bring mom to the wedding after I told you not to?"

"Come on. Her only son and his only wedding? Supposedly? Right? She had a right to be there, she gave birth to you." she pointed out.

"Blood does not make a family, love does" Jak said firmly.

"Oh god, the old show motto, really? You will spout that crap to me? Come on… love does not pay the bills dear brother. I need mama on side."

"Mama is broke. Worse than broke she is in debt and might lose the house now Dad has stopped giving her an allowance he didn't have to in the divorce. And I will not help her after her attacks on Ianto for no reason." Jack folded his arms "And Dad can leave you all he wants; you don't get it to help her now. Hopefully Dad outlives her, and you can't help her either."

"What a horrible thing to say" she stood with anger "Creatin."

"The word you are looking for is Realist" Jack laughed not at all put out by her manner. She had always bene a diva like their mother after all. "And if Dad keeps being so disappointed in you he might leave everything to my son anyway."

She stopped swirling her foot in a shoe to stare at him.

Jack was unaware how close to the bone he had cut as he went back to the script he was reading and as she flounced out she finally noticed Ianto in the corner of the room watching her silently. Fucker had been there the entire time like a bad smell.

Felt good to poke her tongue out at him, but it was short lived as he grinned at her like the fucking Cheshire Cat. Fucker. Thinks he's the cat the got the cream eh?

Well.

She will see about that.

Time to see Mama.
