A Dark Plot

Walking down the street, heading back home after a day out, Jessica bit her lip and glanced over her shoulder, she couldn't help but feel something was wrong, that she was being followed. She was also trying to deal with what happened with Jake barely two days ago.

'Why Jake...why would you...you actually feel that way about me, like I feel about you, but you say we can't be together, just because it's dangerous?' She wondered to herself. 'But you didn't let me explain, let me tell you that I don't care about the danger, that I'll face it, if it means we can be together.'

She thought for a moment, wondering how to approach Jake, now that she knew the truth, wondering how to convince him to listen long enough to tell him the truth.

But her thoughts were intruded on again by new ones. 'There's something else, I don't...that feeling again, who is following me, I know someone is, I can feel it...but I can't see them?'

Her thoughts still wandered along that vein, feeling wary and paranoid which was leaving her afraid. Trying to calm herself she shoved her hands into the pockets of jean shorts to control their shaking and kept walking, Unaware that she was absolutely right, she was being followed, and it was worse than she could have possibly thought.

For there, watching from where they were perched on a nearby wall, Venom grinned darkly as he observed the girl below. He had been present during the Rhino rampage and had seen the unmasking of Spider-Boy and his actions in regards to the blonde girl walking down the path below him, getting paranoid as he intended her too, since she seemed unable to spot him whenever she looked around.

'That's right, girl, oh, your fear is growing by the second isn't it…' He thought darkly. 'I'm going to enjoy this part of my plan. Just being around you makes you fear me...excellent. I can only imagine how it'll be when you serve your part in my plan.'

He gave a low chuckle, not loud enough to be heard and swung out to another location as the girl started to gain some distance from him. He couldn't allow that to happen, the closer he was, the more he could make the girl paranoid about being followed, which just increased the fear that he so enjoyed causing in the girl.

He gave a low chuckle again as he saw the girl looking around wildly. 'Yes, that's it...fear me, even when you don't know I'm even here...This will be the perfect bait. He failed to convince you to stay away, because he can't deny his pathetic feelings. You are the perfect one to lure him in.'

He began to close in, it was almost time.

Glancing over her shoulder again, Jess felt even more paranoid, she was sure now, someone was following her.

'But who...and how, I can't see them anywhere?' She wondered in fear.

The feeling was getting stronger, whoever it was, they were getting closer, but surely she would have seen them by now, especially with the crowds thinning out.

"I...I can't take this…" She mumbled fearfully.

Pulling her hands from her pockets she gave into fear and made her biggest mistake, panicked. She broke into a run, weaving through the few people that were still around, and taking a few odd turns, but the fear still blurred her thoughts, there were no people around now, but she stopped and caught her breath, unable to think about running anymore due to her having tired herself out. That however was sadly the opening her pursuer was waiting for, Venom struck as, at that moment, he acted, using his tentacles to grab Jessica, startling her but before she could scream, her mouth was covered too, muffling her screams as she found herself being held in the air, in front of Venom.

"Hello there." He drawled. "We'd advise you not to struggle, we'd hate to hurt you when you are such precious bait to bring in your dear Spider-Boy."

Jessica's eyes widened and she let out a muffled shriek, but Venom just laughed and left, on the way to where he planned to lure Spider-Boy to.

At home, having tried to relax and just enjoy an evening in front of the TV with his dads, Jake returned to his room, curious as to why he had some sort of strange feeling in the back of his mind.

'What is wrong with me...I've been stressed before, dealing with problems like this...but never this bad, not even the last time we fought Venom.' He wondered.

Shaking his head he entered his bedroom only to notice his phone was indicating he had a video message. He approached and picked it up and his eyes widened.

'Jess...what is she, why…?' He wondered in shock.

Shaking his head he accepted the message anyway and watched, his eyes widening in shock and horror as he saw Jess in the video, although it only showed her from the shoulders up, she was clearly uncomfortable, she was holding the phone, but beyond that she seemed unable to move otherwise.

"Jake, please...help me…" She said, her voice shaking.

Her face was streaked with tears and she looked terrified.

"Please…" She pleaded. "I'm at the old Roxxon Plaza in Harlem, you...be caref-MRUGH!"

Jake gasped as a large black coloured hand covered Jake's mouth and then Venom leaned into shot.

"Unless you want this girl to be harmed, little spider, you will come to us alone!" He laughed.

The video was then ended and Jake was frozen in horror and anger, Venom had kidnapped Jessica, he was threatening her to make him show up, not only that, but he knew the truth about his identity.

'That...that monster...He, I-' He thought angrily.

That was when his anger overwhelmed him and the black suit covered his body. Furious and determined, he launched himself out of the window and began to swing his way over to Harlem, determined to find and take out Venom for what he had done.
