PAW Patrol (TAF): The Anthro Files
Pups Go for a Spin
Chapter 1
The prison that held Mayor Humdinger in solitary confinement for 540 years was getting a new warden, who secretly held a grudge on the Humdinger family, and did not want to have to deal with him. However, he covered it up when he first met the worst mayor in the history of mankind, and instead just introduced himself, as well as reveal his bafflement about Adventure Bay. "I'm the new warden here," he said. "What I can't understand, however, is how you got away with all those crimes for so long. Was it politics?"
"To be honest, I don't know why Adventure Bay didn't have a prison system or anything; they just have those idiotic dogs that make up the PAW Patrol," Humdinger replied. "Everybody knows cats are superior to dogs. There is no reason for the PAW Patrol to have a cat in it, but they do. Anyway, they just made me do community service or other forfeits instead of imprisoning me. And the same is true for anybody else that would break the law there. Then again, nobody ever did that but me, did they?"
"You and your nephew. What was his name? Sorry."
"Harold. He may be an absolute genius, but he always disobeyed me. He wanted all the glory for himself."
"Do you blame him? I don't."
"I do, but it's a complicated relationship. I won't elaborate any further."
All the while, the PAW Patrol continued to serve Adventure Bay and the other areas that needed them. Today was the anniversary day, though, of the day Ryder called every single member of the team in response to Codi Gizmody attempting to destroy the city so that she could build her dream city, Codi Cove. "I don't get it," Skye commented to Mayor Goodway. "You don't just walk up to somebody and say, 'I want to buy your town.' Who does that?"
"I'll never understand it myself," Goodway replied. "I just wish I had known from the start that she was planning to do that."
"BA-GUCK, BA-GERK!" Chickaletta clucked.
"In any event, let's have us the big photo now." Goodway had Ryder and the entire team stand in front of the town hall. From left to right: Chase, Marshall, Skye, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma, Everest, Tracker, Tuck and Ella (appearing in their Mighty Pup gear), Rex, the Cat Pack (Wild, Rory, Shade, and Leo), Liberty, Al, and Coral. Some of the other pups that had been antagonistic towards the PAW Patrol before, such as Sweetie and Moby, were also present, but did not pose in the photo. They were attending, however, because ever since the second meteor gave these dogs the ability to switch between walking on all fours and walking on two legs the way humans do, they were starting to show signs of repentance. Sweetie still wanted to be queen, however, but she was content with just being the royal pup. Moby continued to make amends with Coral and the others, and clarified to those who asked why he was unhappy being a mer-pup. (The party also had other guests, such as the Princess and Earl of Barkingburg.)
"So it was too noisy for you?" Goodway asked.
"More like the fact it was almost nonstop," Moby replied. "I hated it to start with, but part of that was me being sensitive to noise. Obviously, I don't have problems with it now."
"It surprised us to see him joining in the celebrations," Coral added, "but he was."
"Puplantis is my home, after all."
"I'm glad to hear you finally listened to reason," said Ryder.
Meanwhile, Skye spoke to Sweetie. "Do you still dream of being queen?" she asked.
"I do," Sweetie confessed, "but the Kingdom of Barkingburg would prefer to have our Princess over me any day. I'd be saying that even if I wasn't doing anything to claim the throne for myself. I do, however, thank you, my Princess, for the opportunities to continue to serve."
"Not a problem, Sweetie," the Princess replied. "Just promise me you won't concoct any more schemes."
"I will. I'll still fantasize about it, but dreams are dreams, and this isn't a dream."
Later that day, Liberty introduced Coral, Moby, Al (the trucker pup), and some others to the Junior Patrollers; Nano, Mini, and Tot. Al was delivering a new merry-go-round to the playground, and the Junior Patrollers volunteered to help test it. "Just don't go too fast," Liberty cautioned. "You may get hurt."
The trio got on the ride after the PAW Patrol finished installing it, and subsequently enjoyed the ride after Ryder and Katie helped give it a spin.
Later, the other reserve members of the PAW Patrol and other guests had returned home, with the exception of Sweetie, the Princess, and the Earl of Barkingburg, all of whom had been staying in a hotel at a nearby town.
The next morning didn't start without Ryder getting a call from Mayor Goodway. "Hi, Mayor Goodway," he began as he yawned, trying to get himself awake. "Is everything okay?"
"No; it's terrible!" Goodway cried. "Somebody has stolen that new merry-go-round I watched you install at the playground. I'm amazed that they didn't steal the entire playground!"
"Were you able to see who it was?"
"No. I just know the kids are disappointed."
"No need to worry about it, though. No playground is too incomplete; no pup is too small!"
"Thanks, Ryder!"
Ryder slid the mechanism out of his pup-pad and announced, "PAW Patrol, to the Lookout!"
"Ryder needs us!" the pups all exclaimed as they ran to the Lookout. As always seemed to be the case, they couldn't get there in time without Marshall tripping on something. This time, though, it was a deck of playing cards, because as part of the party from last night, the pups in their anthro forms were playing various card games with each other. For example, Skye and Coral played as a team against Chase and Marshall in a game of canasta, while Rocky and Zuma played gin rummy with each other.
After the pups all crashed, the cards fell out and spread all over the pups, leading Marshall to comment, "You deal and I'll shuffle!" Everyone laughed as the elevator began to rise.
