Chapter 10: Infiltration
Taikei backed up as the Digimon approached him, it was a green reptillian Digimon, it had orange stripes and a very long tail, the top of its body was coated in a darker green armor-like skin witha pair of goggles sitting above its eyes which looked like camera lenses. Taikei pulled out his Digivice and scanned the Digimon "Chamelemon, Armor Level" Chamelemon opened its mouth and its tongue shot out like a bullet, Taikei dove out of the way and it hit the ladder Veemon was standing on knocking him off of it where he smacked right into the floor headfirst, Taikei grabbed Veemon and whispered "sorry buddy" Taikei then spun and flung Veemon and hit Chamelemon head on. Chamelemon and Veemon sprawled across the floor both dazed, Taikei then jumped high into the air and kneed Chamelemon in the stomach, he was then quickly struck with its tail sending him sliding across the floor. Veemon felt his head but snapped to his senses seeing Taikei on the floor, Veemon gritted his teeth and grabbed Chamelemon by the tail, he then lifted the lizard and began to spin it before tossing it into a wall, Taikei got to his feet and talked into his Digivice "we've got an intruder!" Taikei shouted, Veemon then launched himself striking Chamelemon with a headbutt breaking through the wall it was stuck in.
Chamelemon suddenly began to glow and a pulse of energy knocked Veemon back, just as everyone else entered the room "Chamelemon Digivolve to...Sandiramon!" A giant white and purple cobra emerged from where Chamelemon was, Mamoru scanned it "Sandiramon, Ultimate-level..." Sandira hissed and lunged at Veemon catching him in its mouth, Veemon held the mouth open but was struggling, Keramon floated up and began blasting Sandira but it had no effect, Taikei ignited his DNA and slammed his hand on his Digivice "DNA Charge!" Veemon then began to glow and pry Sandira's mouth open "Veemon Digivolve to...Veedramon" Veedramon fully opened Sandiramon's mouth and shot a blast down its throat causing the giant snake to release him, Veedramon landed then tackled Sandiramon into a wall detroying the structure, Veedramon then lifted Sandiramon and slammed it on the ground, Veedramon then began to drag Sandiramon towards him "time to take you out!" Sandiramon then quickly snapped its head toward Veedramon but he dodged it and punched Sandira into the ground, Mamoru shouted toward Veedramon "careful of it's venom!" Veedramon looked at Mamoru "its what?" suddenly Sandira opened its mouth and a weapon shot out grazing Veedramon's cheek. Veedramon gritted his teeth and righthooked Sandiramon into a wall, Veedramon inhaled deeply ready to fire, he opened his mouth but nothing came out and Veedramon was stuck in place, suddenly Veedramon's skin began to turn grey and stone-like before enveloping him turning him to stone "VEEDRAMON!!!" Taikei shouted before rushing to Veedramon's side, he touched Veedramon's skin, it was like concrete "c'mon buddy, move!" Taikei tried to shake Veedramon but it was no use. Sandiramon slowly approached Taikei snickering "heh he he, looks like he's been turned to stone by my venom..." Taikei glared at Sandiramon and rushed at the giant snake, Sandiramon lunged but Taikei jumped to the side dodging it, Taikei then kicked Sandiramon in the eye making it flinch but the confrontation was shortlived as Taikei was hit with a slap of Sandiramon's tail sending him into a wall. Akira whipped out her Digivice "Nyajinmon, Realize!" Nyajinmon popped out "you just made a big mistake Digimon, you hurt our friends!" Nyajinmon jumped at Sandiramon "Mystic Paw!" Nyajinmon's claws were then ignited with a blue fire and she slashed Sandiramon causing it to wince and slither back, Mamoru then ignited his DNA "DNA Charge!" Keramon began to glow with energy "Keramon Digivolve to...Kurisarimon!" Kurisarimon sent out its tentacles wrapping around Sandiramon restricting it, Sandiramon then pulled Kirusarimon and tossing Kurisarimon to the ground. Nyajinmon lept onto Sandiramon's back stabbing at it with her claws, Sandiramon then fell back smashing Nyajinmon into the ground aswell, Akira looked at Mamoru "we have to end this now" Akira's body then became enveloped in DNA "DNA! Full..." Akira then lifted her hand into the air and her DNA lifted into the sky before she slammed her hand on her Digivice "Charge!" A beam emerged from her Digivice hitting Nyajinmon "Nyajinmon Digivolve to...Beastmon!" Beastmon jumped up and spinkicked Sandiramon knocking it down.
Beastmon pinned down Sandiramon with her claws, Sandiramon smirked and grabbed its weapong with its tail swinging at Beastmon, she jumped over it and kicked the weapon away "nice try, but I'm not a bumbling bruiser like Veedramo-" Beastmon stopped as her leg began to turn to stone "w-what?! but I didn't touch the blade..." Sandiramon then rose above Beastmon "you really think that just the blade of my weapon is the only part that can administer my Venom? Fool!" Sandiramon then hissed before lunging at Beastmon but was restrained by Kurisarimon, Mamoru rushed over to Veedramon and tried to lift him but he was too heavy, Akira rushed over to Beastmon who was slowly turning "c'mon, we're making a retreat" Akira helped Beastmon into the hallways of the base, Keiko lifted Taikei from the rubble, he was unconcious, Kurisarimon lifted Sandiramon and tossed it across the floor before flying over to Veedramon, Kurisarimon's tendrils wrapped around the stone dinosaur lifting him and flying further into the base followed by Mamoru and Keiko.
The group made it to a store room where they could catch their break, Akira set Beastmon down who was more than halfway turned to stone, Akira looked at her hands to see that the stone has spread to her "looks like I'm on a timer..." Keiko set Taikei down "we should wait for the others to get back from their mission, with two of our most powerful Digimon functionally useless right now it's best we lie low and-" Keiko was cutoff when she sensed something "everyone be quiet" just as she said that a large slithering noise could be heard from outside, it quickly faded away "okay, let's just remain here until we get some backup" Mamoru stepped forward "sounds good, but what'll we.do if Sandiramon finds us?" Keiko walked over to Taikei crouching down and feeling his forehead "I don't know, I'm working with what I've got" Mamoru looked around the room and saw a vent "I have an idea" Mamoru grabbed a stool and stood on top of it looking into the vent "if I can make it into Aiko's lab there might be a way to cure the others" Keiko yanked him back "no...it's too dangerous, you're the only one with a functioning Digimon, we need you here incase Sandiramon finds us" Mamoru gritted his teeth "we have to do something!" Suddenly Taikei made a groan sound and Keiko knelt down next to him "Taikei? Are you alright?" Taikei sat up and looked at Mamoru "I'll go...I need to make myself useful" Keiko grabbed Taikei's shoulder firmly "I can't believe I'm hearing this from either of you, it's too dangerous for you, having the opposite problem, you have NO Digimon to defend you" Taikei met her hand with his "then come with me...you're a Bright, you can sense that thing out there!" Keiko threw up her hands "okay, so you both have gone completely insane" Taikei stood up but fell back down "see? You're in no shape to go anywhere" Taikei laughed "I guess you're right" Mamoru looked at the vent "I'll go on my own, Kurisarimon, keep them safe" Keiko was about to stand up but Taikei grabbed her "go Mamoru, we'll contact Aiko" Mamoru quickly got into the vent.
Keiko shoved Taikei "why won't you listen to me?! I just want to keep you all safe!" Akira laughed "we knew what we signed up for with this job Ma'am, those two wouldn't have stayed still no matter what, and if I wasn't turning into porcelain I'dve gone too" Beastmon chuckled "nice one Akira" Taikei took Keiko's hand but she pulled away "if Mamoru gets hurt...or even killed, it will be all your fault Taikei" Taikei looked down, maybe he did make a mistake. Mamoru crawled through the vent "judging by the storeroom, the lab should be-" he was cut off when he heard slithering right below him "where could those humans be?" Sandiramon asked out loud while searching through the base, it's tongue stuck out and it tasted the air "what could that be?" Mamoru put his hands on his moutb trying not to make a sound. Sandiramon came up to the vent and stuck its tongue into it to taste the air, Mamoru closed his eyes but then from behind him he was hit with a blast of cold air that shocked his nervous system and almost made him scream but he had held it in, the air hit Sandiramon's tongue and it recoiled "AH! FILTHY HUMANS AND YOUR TRICKS!!" Sandiramon then slammed its weapon into a wall in anger before moving on.
Meanwhile in the storeroom
Akira stood by the vent controls "heh, that'll teach that snake right Beastmon?" Beastmon didn't respond as she was fully stone and Akira would follow close behind. Keiko was sitting across from her with Taikei's head on her lap as she talked to Keiko with his Digivice "okay Agent Aiko, we turned on the frost, let's hope Mamoru gets to your lab soon, what's your ETA?" Aiko responded "we are approximately 3 hours away from base" Keiko narrowed her eyes "that's longer than I'd hoped, Agent Mamoru will contact you when he gets there"
Back to Mamoru
Mamoru opened the vent and stepped out, he was in Aiko's lab, he contacted Aiko "okay Aiko, I'm in, what am I looking for?" Aiko began to explain "take one of my USBs from the file cabinet, one thst says 'debug' Sandiramon's Venom is Virus-based to mixing a Debug program with diluted phosphoric acid should work" Mamoru went to work, converting the data on the USB into DNA with his Digivice and infusing it with an acid solution, he then poured the mixture into several vials "okay, looks like it's done, time to get-" he turned to see Sandiramon staring at him through the glass door, it remained still as it pierced Mamoru's body with its gaze, neither of them moved both locked onto one another, Mamoru felt his blood slowing in his body, Sandiramon stuck its tongue out flicking it while keeping its eyes locked onto Mamoru, Mamoru felt the sweat form on his forehead, the beads were heavy and they felt like ants on his skin, Mamoru shot a quick glance at the vent which made Sandiramon lunge crashing through the lab, Mamoru dove out of the way barely avoiding the charging Digimon, Mamoru ran to the vent jumping in but he was stopped by a sharp pain in his leg, Sandiramon had bit his leg and began to drag him out of the vent, Mamoru thought quick and grabbed a scalpel lying nearby and stabbed Sandiramon in the snout causing it to let him go and he quickly crawled through the vent, he then talked through his Digivice "I have the Acid, I'm making my way back but I'm being pursued" Keiko looked at the petrified visage of Akira and Beastmon "hurry, it's only a matter of time before Akira's vital organs turn to stone" Kurisarimon then suddenly bolted out of the room to Mamoru's location, Kurisarimon stopped in the warehouse area of the base where Sandiramon had entered aswell smashing the ventilation system with its tail, one strike caused the system to fall and Mamoru slipped out of the vent falling to the ground, Sandiramon lunged forward but Kurisarimon rammed into it.
Mamoru got up and limped over to some overturned crates, he hid behind them while looking at the spilled contents of the crates, he grabbed some parts and began to assemble a device, he then finished it and aimed a gun-like device at Sandiramon, he then fired and hit Sandiramon with a projectile that caused red electricity stunning it, Mamoru looked at Kurisarimon "I'm going to get this acid to the others!" Mamoru limped through the hallway to the storage room, he collapsed onto the floor which then Keiko ran to him helping him to his feet, Mamoru handed the acid to Keiko, she then put droplets onto Akira, Beastmon, and Veedramon "you did it Mamoru...thank you" Keiko said with a relieved breath, the three stone statues were then cured, all three collapsing, Beastmon separating into Gatomon and Impmon and Veedramon reverting to Veemon, Akira was unconcious but still alive "I was wrong about this plan, I can see that now, I didn't have faith in any of you and I'm sorry" Taikei chuckled "don't worry about it Keiko...you're still right about us being hardheaded" Keiko smiled "yeah, I should've considered that we don't leave eachother behind" Mamoru's eyes widened "Kurisarimon!" He shouted before bolting out of the room ignoring the pain in his leg, Mamoru made it to the warehouse seeing Kurisarimon being struck by Sandiramon's axe but not turning to stone "Kurisarimon's shell is impervious to slashing damage, atleast at the power Sandiramon is outputting" Sandiramon then wrapped around Kurisarimon and started to squeeze, Mamoru aimed his weapon but he stopped himself from pulling the trigger "I can't hit Kurisarimon..." suddenly cracks appeared on Kurisarimon's shell "No!" Mamoru yelled before aiming again but before he could fire Kurisarimon's shell broke...
Sandiramon dropped Kurisarimon, the shell slammed to the ground limp, Mamoru rushed over as Keramon crawled out of the shell before collapsing, Mamoru slid on his knees and grabbed Keramon "oh man, speak to me Keramon!" Keramon opened their eyes smiling at Mamoru, but it wasn't the typical creepy smile Keramon usually had, this one felt like a warm smile "you did good Keramon, we need to get you out of here!" Sandiramon suddenly lunged at both of them "Bug Blaster!" Keramon shouted before shooting a projectile at Sandiramon, it collided with the giant snake but it wasn't affected and kept on its attack, Mamoru dove out of the way but Sandiramon whipped him with its tail smashing him into a wall where he collapsed to the ground limp with Keramon in his arms, Keramon slithered out of his grasp and hovered above him, as Sandiramon approached Keramon blasted Sandiramon multiple times but to no avail "get...out of...here Keramon" Mamoru said weakly, Keramon looked at Mamoru, concern plastered onto its clown-like face. Keramon then covered Mamoru with both its arms to protect it "I guess we're both gonna die them" Mamoru said with a giggle. Sandiramon lunged but was blocked by a surge of energy from Keramon, it was a mass of dark energy, Mamoru looked at Keramon and his DNA flared to a level he had never felt before, Mamoru struggled to his feet, Keramon's face was twisted with anger "let's turn the tables on this stupid lizard!" Keramon and Mamoru then roared as Mamoru's DNA became larger "DNA..." Mamoru then lifted his hand making a pillar of DNA before slamming his hand down onto his Digivice "Full Charge!" a beam fired from his Digivice and hit Keramon imbuing Keramon with energy "Keramon Warp Digivolve to...Infermon!" Infermon landed, its body was bone white with the front end being wider than the back end with red markings, yellow spikes lined its back and a yellow stinger-like appendage was at the end of its body, its limbs were like twisted wires that fed into the body, its head was like porcelain with a red horn. Infermon tucked in its limbs and neck before launching at Sandiramon hitting Sandiramon in the head sending it into a wall.
Infermon unfolded its limbs and landed, Sandiramon emerged from the wall fuming with rage, it then grabbed its axe and swung but it bounced off Infermon's body, Infermon folded up again and launched itself hitting Sandiramon and passing it, Infermon then landed on a wall and launched itself again hitting Sandiramon again, Infermon then turned back to Sandiramon and opened its mouth revealing a small cannon "Spider Shooter!" Infermon said before firing several projectiles all hitting their mark exploding on contact causing Sandiramon to recoil in pain. Infermon then flew at Sandiramon, it then wrapped Sandiramon with its wire and began to squeeze it, Sandiramon's flesh began to split as it screamed in pain before getting minced by the wires. Sandiramon then turned into a Digi-Egg and fell to the ground, suddenly a portal appeared and the egg fell through the portal and closed. Mamoru limped to Infermon and propped himself onto it "we did it buddy...".
2 hours later
The carrier landed and everyone ran out "Agents, spread out and secure the area, then we find the others!" Moriymoto said, Aiko and Daichi spread out but stopped hearing movement down a hallway, Betamon and Tentomon prepared for battle only to see the others walking down the hall, Mamoru and Taikei were visibly injured, Daichi rushed over to Mamoru "Dude! What happened?!" Mamoru smiled "lemme tell you, it was...crazy". Mamoru and Taikei lied on the beds in the medical bay as they were being examined by Aiko "fractures in various areas and bruising, Mamoru is especially injured with three broken ribs" Taikei sat up "well I can still stand so I can still fight" Veemon pumped his fist "that's right! We can still rough up a Digimon if we need to!" Aiko looked at Veemon "you seem very energetic for a Digimon that was stone 2 hours ago" Veemon punched the air "yeah, I was real stiff but now I'm ready to go!" Taikei put his hand into Veemon's head "that's the spirit buddy!" Mamoru remained lying down, his adrenaline had finally subsided and he was now motionless due to the pain "I guess I'm out of commission for awhile" Aiko then plugged something into Mamoru's bed "the experiment to create the antidote for the petrification, I can create a healing solution with a recovery program for Digimon, then mixing it with our DNA Charge I can apply it to us humans with slowed effects, it won't heal instantly, but it will heal at an accelerated rate" a dome then appeared over Mamoru's bed and the sheets and bedding were removed, a green solution slowly filled the tank halfway sumberging Mamoru, Aiko then fed a tube with a mask through the top of the dome putting the mask onto Mamoru "he should be healed in a day or so, in the meantime I need to brief the rest of the team on our discoveries..." Aiko looked at Taikei "I do need to personally talk to you Agent Nakamura...".
