A boy with curly brown hair, glasses, and a mole on his right cheek ran down the halls of Midtown High.
Peter Benjamin Parker.
Peter nearly crashed through the door with enough force to nearly break it. And now everyone was looking at him funny.
"Hello, Mr. Parker. If it doesn't inconvenience you too much, can you please explain why you are late and why you nearly destroyed my door." Ms. Whitman, his math teacher, asked.
Peter nervously chuckled. "Bad traffic?" In reality, he missed the bus.
Ms. Whitman just sighed and pinched her nose. "Take your seat."
After sitting down, someone scooted closer to Peter. He had fluffy orange hair and wore a green jacket.
Harry Osborn, Peter's brother from another mother.
"Do you know what we're doing?" Harry asked.
"Not a single clue." Peter replied.
"Be honest, who do you have in a fight? Daredevil, or Spider-Woman?"
This question was coming from a Korean-American girl with long black hair. Cindy Moon, another one of Peter's friends.
"Spider-Woman is going to be seeing stars. Daredevil wins." This came from a girl with blond hair dyed pink at the tips with glasses on her face. Gwen Stacy.
"Nah, Daredevil is going to be washed like some dishes." This came from a Filipino-American boy with black hair. Ned Leeds.
Now the table was in a big argument against itself over whether Daredevil could be victorious over Spider-Woman.
Then Peter felt a hand smack him across the back.
"Hey, Puny!"
Great. Peter's favorite bully. Flash Thompson.
"What the hell is your Brainic Brigade talking about now?" Flash said, clearly referring to the kids at the table.
"Nothing you could understand, ya big ape." Peter said.
Flash raised his eyebrows. "Whatcha say, Parker?"
A blond girl suddenly stepped in front of Flash. "C'mon Flash, leave 'em alone for once."
Sally Avril. One of Peter's old friends. Nowadays she hung out with the more popular crowd, but they were still on friendly terms.
Flash just rolled his eyes at this. "Whatever. I bet you nerds are gonna have the time of your lives at the field trip in a couple hours."
Everyone at the table just froze at this. He was right. They were gonna have a hell of a time.
"So, what y'all looking for to?" Cindy asked.
"I'm excited to see the DNA experiments," Gwen said. "Uncle Miles and Dr. Connors have been experimenting with all types of organisms. Lizards, mammals, spiders…"
"Ew," Harry said, earning a chuckle from the others.
"C'mon Harry, what's wrong with spiders?" Cindy asked.
Harry responded with a blank deadpan face and voice. "What isn't?"
The students piled off the bus at ESU Campus.
"Alright everyone, I want you to listen closely. We are going to explore the lab of Dr. Connors and Dr. Warren. Nothing else. If I heard anyone wandered to other places on the campus, they will be given detention. Are we clear?" Ms. Whitman asked the students.
There was a general consensus of "yes" with some angry murmurs scattered throughout.
"Good. Now let's go." Ms. Whitman and her class walked to the lab.
Doctor Connors and Doctor Warren's lab looked like something out of sci-fi. Multiple students worked on various projects and experiments. There were various creatures in various cages and containers. Lizards, mammals...
...and spiders, which had Harry looking in disgust.
"How your uncle willingly messes with these things is beyond me."
"C'mon man, don't insult Doc's work like that."
That voice didn't come from Harry. It came from a well-muscled man with blond hair and a black jacket.
Edward Brock Jr.
"Eddie!" Peter ran into the guy, hugging him with all his might.
"What's up bro?" Eddie hugged him back.
Gwen and Harry jumped at Eddie as well, smothering him in a hug pile.
"Oh man, I didn't know you guys were coming!" Eddie said, ecstatic.
"Didn't know you were here!" Gwen said.
"I work here, you three!" Eddie said.
"Hold on, is that Gwen Stacy?" Someone said.
The man was short, being slighty shorter than Peter and Gwen, with brown hair, a mustache, and glasses.
"Uncle Miles!" Gwen jumped off Eddie and began to hug Dr. Warren.
Gwen's uncle, Doctor Miles Warren.
Miles hugged Gwen back. "How is my favorite niece doing?"
Gwen giggled. "I'm your only niece."
"And that's why you're my favorite," Doctor Warren said. "So, do you guys want a personal tour?"
Doctor Warren walked the group through the lab, seeing everything from electric eels to various reptiles.
And the spiders, which made Harry groan.
During the personal tour, Peter saw something that caught his eye. Or rather, someone.
She had platinum blonde hair, green eyes, and a pair of glasses. Peter stared a little before mustering up some bravery and walked up to her.
"Hey." Peter said.
The girl turned to Peter and smiled. "Hey."
Peter reached into his backpack and pulled out his camera. "Y'know, I'm a photographer. I-I can take some pictures of you, if you like."
The girl smirked. "Okay, but be warned: I'm not the modeling type."
Peter took a few photos while the girl did some amateur poses. Until Harry walked past and saw the girl.
"Felicia?"
"Harry?" The girl asked.
In a few seconds, Harry and the girl hugged, much to Peter's confusion.
"Huh?"
"Let me do introductions. Peter, this is my old friend Felicia Hardy. Felicia, this is my friend Peter Parker."
Felicia and Peter shook hands.
"So, how did you guys meet?" Peter asked.
"Private school days," Harry said. "Your mom finally let you attend public school?" Harry asked, to which Felicia nodded.
"Attention, students of Midtown High!" A female voice rang through the air.
"See you two in later classes!" Felicia said before Peter and Harry walked away.
A female scientist with ginger hair was talking to the students of Midtown High.
Doctor Martha Connors.
"We appreciate your presence, all of you!" Doctor Martha Connors spoke to the kids. "My husband, Doctor Warren, and I have put so much effort into building this place so that we can improve the world, and we are glad to show you the fruits of our labor!"
"Man, Ms. Connors can put on a show." Harry said.
"Heh, yeah. Not gonna lie, this lab is pretty amazing," Peter said "I would love to wo-"
Peter's words were interrupted by an intense itch in his right hand. When he shook it, a red and black spider flew off, landing in the middle of the Midtown High crowd.
They reacted as expected.
"AAAAAAAH!"
In a few seconds, multiple students were stomping the floor in an attempt to crush the abnormal spider.
"Get it!"
"Crush it, crush it!"
"Kill it with fire!"
The spider somehow managed to avoid the stomping feet of the Midtown High students, scurrying off to a more open area before scooped up in a jar. The man who scooped it up had blonde hair and a prosthetic arm.
Doctor Curtis Connors.
"Sorry everyone! A subject must've gotten loose!" Doctor Connors apologized with a smile. "My mistake!"
Some students rolled their eyes while others laughed it off.
"Man, wonder how that creepy crawly get out the container?" Harry asked. Harry then noticed Peter itching the hand that was bitten. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, just a slight itch." Peter said.
After a while, the trip was over. Students loaded up on the bus. But Peter suddenly became woozy, bumping into a girl.
This girl was Hispanic with brown hair and eyes. Liz Allan, notorious for her fiery and incredibly short temper.
"What the hell, Parker?!" Liz yelled.
"Sorry, sorry." Peter said.
Once everyone was loading onto the bus, Peter sat down next to Harry, in clear discomfort. He started itching his hand again.
"Pete, are you okay?" Gwen asked.
"Yeah man, you've been itching your hand the entire time." Ned said.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bit dry." Peter said.
"Ok, but if you got infected with a disease and you cause a zombie apocalypse, I'm gonna kill you." Cindy said, before itching her ankle.
"And let there be light." This voice belonged to Benjamin Parker, an older man who finally managed to finish replacing the lights of the Parker house after unexpected difficulty.
"Be careful not to sprain something." This came from May Parker, Ben's loving wife.
"I'm not that old May, in fact I'd argue I'm pretty fit for a man my age," Ben said.
Just then, Peter walked through the door, a bit clammy and pale.
"Peter, are you alright?" May, being concerned for the nephew she took in as her own son.
"Fine, just a bit of a fever," Peter said.
"In May? You sick or something?" Ben asked.
"No, just a bit tired." Peter put down his backpack and started heading up to his room. "I'm gonna take a nap."
Before Ben or May could question or object to anything, Peter closed the door, took off his glasses, and fell on his bed, going to sleep mere seconds later.
Little did anyone know, this was the last day a normal life was a possibility for Peter Parker.
