Also by Zexo87. This one's chronologically after the previous two entries. The show established Amity's relationships with Luz and Willow quite a lot but not not so much with the boys in their group so this is for them.
Blight Manor was normally a rather meloncholy place on a good day, but today, it was especially dull as the youngest Blight child, Amity, sat alone in her bedroom, lying forelorn on her bed and staring up at the ceiling. She was sad because she was missing somebody. Someone very special to her.
All of a sudden, she heard a call coming in on her crystal ball, so she went over to answer it. It was her friends Gus and Hunter. "Hey, Amity. What's up?" Gus greeted her with a bit of concern. "We haven't seen you for a couple of days. Are you doing alright?"
"Hey, guys. I'm sorry I haven't called lately," said Amity with a sad tone. "It's just that ever since Luz went back to the Human Realm for school, I've been really missing her. Things just aren't the same without her around, y'know?"
"Yeah, I get it. I miss her, too," Gus agreed.
"Me too," said Hunter. "But can't you just visit her on the weekend or something?"
"The new portal isn't ready yet. It still needs more time to recharge or else it could be a one way trip," Amity answered. "Besides, Luz's mom really wants her to focus on school right now and we haven't exactly worked out interdimensional communication yet."
"Yeah, that's true," said Hunter.
"Hey! Why don't you come hang out with us today?" Gus suggested. "Willow's off spending time with her dads, so it'll just be the three of us."
"I don't know, Gus," Amity said reluctantly.
"Come on. It's better than moping around in your room all day. You think Luz wants you to just sit around feeling sad until she comes back?"
"Yeah. Plus, it'll give us a chance to strengthen our friendship with you," Hunter added.
Amity thought for a moment before making a decision. "Well, alright. We can hang out," she agreed.
"Great! We'll come and meet you at your house," Gus said excitedly.
Some time later, Gus and Hunter arrived at Amity's house and the three of them made their way back upstairs into Amity's room. "So, what are we gonna do today?" she asked.
"Well, I thought we could start with a flying race," Gus suggested as he summoned his palisman Emmeline and had her change into her staff form. "It's the perfect thing to get you out of your house and give you a little excitement."
Hunter then summoned his own new palisman, a blue jay named Waffle, and changed her into her staff form as well. "First one to circle around the Owl House and make it back to your place wins. So what do you say, Blight? Think you can outfly a couple of flyer derby champs?" Hunter challenged as he and Gus both gave cocky smirks.
Amity gave a confident expression of her own and whistled as she summoned her own white cat palisman, Ghost, to her side. Ghost changed into her staff form, which Amity held firmly in her grasp as she stared confidently at the two boys. "It's on," she said, accepting their challenge.
A few minutes later, the three young witches stood in the front yard of the manor mounted on their staffs and ready to take flight. "On your mark... get set... GO!" Gus signalled the start of the race and all three competitors immediately shot off like rockets into the air.
Gus gained an early lead with Amity and Hunter closed behind him as the three competitors soared around the trees. He turned back to Amity as he saw Hunter pull ahead of her. "Is that all you got, Blight? My grandma can fly faster than that!" Gus taunted. This only got her even more fired up as she quickly picked up the pace and started catching up to the boys again.
Before long, the Owl House came into view. The three young witches prepared to circle around it with Amity using a trick she had learned from Luz. As she approached the house, she summoned a strand of abomination goop and latched it onto the weather vane, allowing her to perform a perfect u-turn around the house without losing any momentum.
"Hey! Watch it, maniacs! Hoot!" Hooty chided as they flew away.
As they made their way back to Blight Manor, all three competitors were neck-and-neck with Amity determined to overtake both boys. They were all so determined that they just barely managed to avoid crashing into a tree. This caused them to lose a bit of velocity, which gave Amity the perfect opening she needed to push ahead. As her house came into view, she prepared to come in for a landing. She gradually slowed to a stop before placing her feet firmly on the ground. "Yes! I win!" she cheered for herself as the boys caught up with her and landed themselves.
"Good job, Amity. That was a pretty slick move you pulled off back there with the weather vain," Gus congratulated her.
"Thanks. Luz taught me that move," she replied. "Thanks so much for this, guys. That was really fun."
"It's good to see you happy again, Amity," Hunter said. "I know you really miss Luz right now, and I don't really know much about long distance relationships, but something tells me that the time you two spend apart will make it all the more worth it when you finally get to see each other in person again."
Amity smiled upon hearing Hunter say that. "Yeah, I guess you're right, Hunter."
"Don't forget that your life has gotten a lot better since you met Luz," Gus chimed in. "It's thanks to her that you found the courage to stand up to your mom and be the person you always wanted to be. I still remember the way you completely told her off with that speech you gave at her trial. That was absolutely priceless." Hearing the young illusionist's praise made Amity feel even more good about herself.
Hunter, however, felt a twinge of disgust as he remembered something else from Odalia's trial. "I still can't believe she said that she wanted to make grimwalkers of you and your family to act as better versions of all of you," he recalled with a voice full of revulsion at the mere thought of such a threat coming true. "It sounds like she really does want to be just like Belos." The young grimwalker's fists clenched in fear and anger, until Amity placed her hand gently on his shoulder and looked him in the eyes.
"Don't worry. If my mom ever does try to break out of prison and take revenge on us, we'll stop her no matter what. I promise." Amity's vow helped to put Hunter's mind at ease. Just as her friends were there for her, she would always be there for them as well. Gus watched their interaction with pride and admiration.
"So, what do you wanna do next?" asked Gus.
After a moment of thought, Amity made a suggestion. "Oh! How about we exchange book series? I could introduce you guys to The Good Witch Azura and you could teach me about Cosmic Frontier."
"That's a great idea!" Hunter agreed. Gus liked the idea as well, so the three witches headed back inside to discuss each others' favorite book series.
As they were walking, Amity couldn't help but feel a new sense of appreciation for Gus and Hunter. She had considered both boys her close friends for a good while now, but after what they had both just done for her, she realized that she now thought of them as practically two more brothers to her. A feeling that she was all too happy about.
