After convincing the PCA for three weeks Earl and his wife Amy adopted Valerie and they don't have to worry about signing schools papers and the other paperwork. Lucky for them that Amy was good friends with Ross who's in charge of the agency. Since Valerie 'was' human she wanted to be her Godmother in order to watch her in case any monster was curious about her past. "Ok Valerie behave yourself and if anything bad happens call me or your mom. Don't forget to give the note to the school office." Said Ross as Valerie got off the car with her backpack. "I will Aunty Ross. Have a nice day at work." Said Valerie waving goodbye while she run inside the building. Valerie walked to the office and stopped at the front desk. "Excuse me I have a note." She said putting the note on the desk. The attendant's lady grabbed the note opened it then nodded and give her a paper with schedule. "Here you go Valerie and have a nice day." Said the black and green Cyclops cat with three sets of arms. "Thank you." Said Valerie walking down the hallway and reached her classroom. "Ok class today we have a new student. So please be nice and help her out." Said Ms. Graves. She moved aside to reveal Valerie making the students gasped and awed at her appearance. "Hi, my names Valerie Thompson. I love making art, enjoy reading, and listening to music." she said.
"Good to have you here Valerie and you can sit next to Michael Wazowski." said Ms. Graves pointing to a small green kid with horns and one eye. Valerie sat next to Michael who couldn't stop smiling at her. "Hi, Im Michael Wazoski but my friends call me Mike well if I had any friends. So is your dad really Earl Thompson the scarer." Mike whispered. "Yeah. he is but why don't you have any friends?" Valerie whispers back. "Everyone says i'm too small to be a scarer but one day I'll prove them wrong." said Mike. "I can be your friend if you want." said Valerie. "Really you mean it." said Mike in excitement. "Yeah and besides your the first friend I've made other than Uncle Frank and Aunt Ross." said Valerie.
"This is great I met a Thompson who's my friend. Yeah!" said Mike. "Mike would you like to share something with the class." said Ms. Graves in a stern voice. "No. Ms. Graves." said Mike as he and Valerie pay attention to the lesson. The school bell rang for lunch the students rushed down the halls to the cafeteria except for Mike and Valerie who walked side by side. "Valerie are you going to the field trip to monsters incorporated next week." Said Mike grabbing himself a tray. "Maybe." She says walking with her lunch bag. "Why 'maybe' we're going to see the top scarers work." Said Mike sitting at a empty table while Valerie sat across from taking out her juice box and sandwich. "I've been there with my dad and uncle Frank. I'm not even sure if I should back." She says looking at her food. "Did something happen while you were there?" Said Mike in concern. "I'll tell you when it's the right time. Don't worry about it." She says taking a bite of her sandwich and a sip from her juice. Mike had a curious expression for a bit then decided to wait for Valerie to tell him. After school some of the kids got on the bus while the others were picked up by their relatives. As for Valerie had to wait for her dad to pick her up then she started drawing on her notebook out of boredom.
A honk was heard and looking up to see her dad waving for her. Valerie packed her things away and ran to the car getting in the passenger sat and buckled her seat belt. "Sorry I was late Valerie. Daddy got too caught up with his boss." Said Earl driving back home. "That's ok. I managed to make a friend at school and asked me if I'm going to the field trip next week." Said Valerie. "Really that's good for you. Now where is the field trip going to be at?" Said Earl. "Monsters Incorporated." Said Valerie. Earl pushed the gas and made a left turn then pulled over. "If you want to go back to the factory and just observe then its fine by me unless Uncle Frank keeps an eye on you." said Earl looking down at Valerie. "Ok. Daddy but do I need to get a note from you." Said Valerie. "I guess so but I'll give it to before you go there. Now let's get home before your mom gets really worried." Said Earl turning he car around and heading to their house. They inside before it was getting dark, and Valerie went up to her room to put her backpack away. She decided to stay there until dinner and finish the drawing that wasn't done yet. There was knock at Valerie's door and Amy opened to check on her, "Valerie it's time for dinner. You can finish your drawing later." She said. "Ok mommy. I'll meet you downstairs." Said Valerie.
