Draco POV
Date? What date? She didn't bring the chocolate away with her. Neither she got impressed with the Galleons.
Does she think I'm going on a date because of the chocolate? Was it my fault? Didn't I speak loud enough when I brought the chocolate up?
Nevermind. I'll meet her again next Sunday and make it clear that I didn't go on any dates today.

Late that evening the common room is empty except for me, Blaise, and Theo.
"Blaise, may we speak in private?" Daphne Greengrass. According to the Slytherin male poll, she's tied with Ginevra Weasley for first place in the "fittest witch poll ".
"I'm not sure we have any dealings together." Wrong move, Blaise. But understandable, she's betrothed to someone else.
"Maybe, but I'm sure of your dealings in alcoves with such desirable companies." Interesting. Is Blaise having an affair with someone's witch? Otherwise why would he be reluctant to parade his conquest? Solely by past behaviour, he is not the type that doesn't kiss and tell, he definitely tells all the details, and if he were kissing both Patils we would know by now.
"And do tell Greengrass, what would entail for you to keep your speculations to yourself?" This is the first time I see Blaise openly trading something in favour of someone other than himself. He usually laughs it off and lets the person fend for themselves.
"I want to be formally introduced to HER." Blaise visibly tenses, it's minimum, if I haven't been watching him close I'd miss it. Who is this witch he wants to protect? Is Blaise in love? "If it makes you more amenable I swear on my magic that I have no intentions of any unsavoury business towards them. I just need to gauge if I could gather a favour and I'd be in her debt."
Blaise nods reluctantly and Daphne leaves.
"Oh, so you've started looking for a wife in alcoves. I have never seen you so protective about someone."
"No, Theo. It's just a friend."
"So why are you and Daphne not even saying her name?"
"She's not in Slytherin, that's why I'm wary of introducing them."
"Just a friend, sure mate. Go on, tell me more lies, so I'll gladly disentangle the truths." A couple minutes of tension are gone by before Theo decides to turn his attention on me. "How about you Draco? Have you found a temptress yet?"
"Well, if you must know I'm not looking for a wife in an alcove." Theo and I are best friends, but witches are out of the talks we had until today. I don't know how he'd react to the idea that I'm set on courting Granger, a mudb- muggleborn. I better police my mind better, there is no value in using a slur to refer to my future wife.
"Touché." If I know Theo, he won't give up until he has a list. "I've been thinking of making a list of suitable witches. After next year we will have only 3 years left before leaving Hogwarts and I'd like to have some prospects and ideas by then." Precisely predictable.
"Cheers mate, I'm too young to think so hard about this. It'll give me wrinkles, the ladies won't like it."
"Yeah, yeah Blaise."
Weird night. It will be a long week until next Sunday arrives.
