Rick walked in to the briefing room that Roy had set aside to brief the pilots and ground crew. Roy told him that the Captain and Lisa would be there. Rick just silently laught. When he walked in most of his people were already there. He headed to the front and on the stage where Roy was waiting at the podium.

"Looks like all but a couple are here already, and the rest are just outside getting a last smoke in before we start." Rick told Roy.

"Let's get them in here and we will start. The Captain and Lisa should be here in about an hour." Roy told Rick.

Rick sent one of the ground crew to round the rest up. Once everyone was seated Roy introduce himself. Over the next hour Roy went over what facilities they had on the base had what there was to do in the city.

When the Captain arrived and made his way down to the front with Lisa behind him. Rick introduced himself to the Captain and Lisa. Of course, Lisa was glaring at Rick while he just smiled back. So, Roy had to make a comment.

"So, Lisa have you smiled today?"

Captain Gloval had to hide a small laugh in a cough. Lisa turned her glare towards Roy as Rick tried to hide a laugh.

"What was that Fokker. I don't think I heard you." Lisa asked while daring him to repeat it.

Captain Gloval spoke up before more could be said. Of course, he heard what happen on the bridge yesterday and didn't need his flight operations officer killing his Air Wing Commander.

"Well lets get on with the briefing as I am to understand Commander Fokker and Hunter have a squadron commander briefing after this and the rest need to start helping unload the transport planes."

"Yes sir. I believe you are next Captain then Me." answered Lisa.

Captain Gloval stepped up to the podium and like Roy introduced himself. He then went on in welcoming everyone and telling a little of what they would be doing over the next month in finishing getting ready for the launch. He then went on and letting them know what the first few months would be like once they reached space. After he finished, he introduced Lisa.

Lisa informed them that she was the ships senior flight operations office and acting XO. She explained what she expected of them during flight operation and interaction with flight control. She sent a glare at Rick when saying that. Rick just let out a snort.

Lisa then went on to talk about several training missions planed with other RDF ships in space including the two carriers and their fighter groups. Of course, one smart ass had to mouth off about being the best and no one could beat them. Before Lisa could respond and angary Rick did.

"SGT Avery see me after this briefing." That shut everyone up. "Listen and Listen good. Yes, you are good pilots but if I have not beat it in your heads enough during training then listen closely. Arrogant will get you killed. Yes, you have training in space, but those pilots have been doing it for months and some case a few years. Space combat is new to us. We are still learning, and you my friends have less than a month in space. So, I expect those pilots to be better than you and heaven help us if we run into a alien race that's been doing this for hundreds of years.

So, you better appreciate the training missions the commander arranged for us so that if we do run into those aliens, you have a chance to live to see another day.

My apology Commander Hayes for the interruption."

Lisa thanked Rick before finishing here briefing. Once she was done she and the Captain left as they had other duties. Roy finished up with an overview of the SDF-1.

Once the briefing was over Rick dismissed them all except SGT Avery and his flight leader. The dressing down they got was epic. Avery got a week's extra duty added also.

Rick walked in the squadron commanders briefing room behind Roy and found a seat. Roy sat at the head of the table and introduced Rick. After introductions Roy got to the point of the meeting.

"OK, listen up all you knuckle heads. As you know we got a month to get ready to head out into space. Which means a lot of hard work packing everything up and storing in on the SDF-1.

We also have to keep up our training. It was pointed out to me at dinner last night that the only squadron to have any time in space or any sim training in space is the squadron full of nuggets."

Rick cleared his throat and sent Roy a glare. "Sorry Rick, and of course Rick who not only has time in space but also taught advance combat tactics at the RDF fighter school. Which included space combat.

Most of us here in this room are combat vets. We fought in the global civil war for years and are the best there is in aerial combat. But that all happen with regular fighters and in atmosphere.

Over the next month Rick has been tasked with giving each fighter and support squadron a crash course in flying in space and for the fighter squadrons space combat. Listen to what he has to say because he literally wrote the book on advance combat tactics that are now taught by the RDF flight school."

Roy then had Rick give an overview of space combat and using the three-transformation mode in not only space combat but atmospheric combat too. When he was done Roy started going over the schedule for the next month. The meeting lasted about two hours and when it was done Rick excused himself so he could go see how things were going in unloading the transports.

Lisa walked on the bridge and took her station back from Sammy. After she checked her own station, she asked for a status report from everyone else.

"So how was the briefing?" asked Claudia.

Lisa just glared at her friend. "Did you have to tell Roy about the arrogant ass comment Hunter made yesterday?"

"Well, he asked after I greeted Rick. I might have mentioned how Rick made you blush and angry at the same time."

Lisa just groaned. "Well he didn't waist anytime needling me about it. What was worse was the small laugh from the captain. Though he did at least try to hide it in a cough. Other then one of the pilots running off at the mouth during my brief it was OK."

"Is there anything left of the pilot after you ripped him a new one?" asked Claudia.

"Didn't get a chance because Hunter ripped the whole squadron a new one and was going to have the pilot see him after the briefing is over." answered Lisa.

After seeing the curious look her friend had Lisa told her what the pilot said and Ricks response was.

"Well Rick is right and from what Roy has told me Rick can have a fun mischief side but is all business in the cockpit. Rick was always a perfectionist when it comes to flying. He gives a 110% and expects his students to give the same. Roy also says if you are struggling Rick is also the one you go to that he will bend over backwards to help you."

"Well, it didn't stop the arrogant ass from making that comment."

Claudia laughed and replied, "Maybe he just wanted to flirt with a pretty girl." Lisa just groaned again and wondering how big a pain in the ass Rick Hunter was going to be.

When Rick arrived at the hanger, he found that the first plane with their personal gear unloaded, and all the gear neatly place on the tarmac. LT. Samuel's who had been left in charge told Rick it was so everyone could go through their stuff and decide what to keep and what could go to the SDF-1 right away. 'No sense in hauling it to our temporary rooms just to bring it back in a couple weeks.' explained Samuel's.

The second plane was half unloaded and the ground crew going through each crate and placing it in the hanger where it needed to go. Though Rick saw that the far-left side of the hanger was bare. Lt. Anderson who was over the ground crew said that was where they were going to storing the items in the last two planes till they could move the items to the SDF-1.

Roy and Claudia were sitting on the couch in Roy's room. "So how was your first day with your little brother in the airwing."

"Interesting. Never knew Rick could be such a hard ass and damn right scary when mad."

"Lisa told me he tore into the whole squadron today."

"Yea that one idiot popping off during Lisa's brief. Probably lucky Rick got him first. Lisa was already in a bad mood."

"Yes, a mood you did not help any." Claudia commented.

"Yea well, Lisa needs to lighten up some." shot back Roy.

Lisa was sitting in her room trying to read but she couldn't stop thinking about a certain flyboy. At first he seamed like a lot of pilots, arragont. Then at the briefing she saw a differant side of him. One that put up with no none sense. All she knew was he was going to be a pain in her ass, she just knew it.
