"Dance with me Mer!" Charlotte shouted as she pulled a tipsy Meredith up from the bar stool.
"Like you have to ask me twice." Meredith laughed as she danced around the floor with Charlotte, her hips moving rhythmically to the Rhianna song that was playing through the speakers.
It didn't take long before more people joined them in dancing and soon enough the floor that was once empty was now full of tipsy people having a good time. She hadn't had this much fun with her friends for a while and she needed it. In all honesty mixing tequila with confusion probably wasn't one of her best ideas but in the moment it was helping and she felt herself on cloud 9. Charlotte grabbed her hands with hers and started waving them in the air to the music, laughing as they twirled each other around, the tequila becoming more apparent as the stumbled in a fit of laughter.
"I missed you!" Charlotte told her.
"I'm right here." Meredith giggled.
"I know but I missed this, I missed our tequila dance parties." she chuckled.
"Me too." Meredith smiled.
"Another shot?" Charlotte smirked.
"Have you ever known me to turn one down?" She questioned coyly.
"Never." she laughed as grabbed her hand to drag her over to the bar.
One shot become two, and two become three and three become unknown to them as they smoothly took each shot as it come. They joked at the bar for a while, laughing at the guys that were trying to pick them up at an engagement party. Jo joined them at some point, and Meredith felt the need to drink for their missed night out that was supposed to happen at the intern mixer and soon enough Jo was completely wasted. They were all completely drunk and they all found it hilarious until Alex noticed Jo falling off the stool onto her bottom.
"Jo!" he ran over to her helping her up frowning as Charlotte and Meredith freely laughed.
Jo stood up with the help of her newly fiancé and stumbled into his chest joining in with the laughter.
"Meredith what the hell?" Alex turned to her.
"What?" she laughed.
"What have you done to her, she's wasted." he frowned.
"I didn't do anything, tequila may not be so innocent though." she giggled.
"Are you kidding me? You know she can't drink like you! Why on earth would you let her drink like this?!" he snapped.
Meredith's mood quickly changed and she found herself shocked at the way his tone was with her, he never spoke to her like this. She felt belittled as he stood there frowning at her blaming her for the state his fiancee was currently in.
"I didn't force her to do anything so don't speak to me like that." she frowned.
"This is our engagement party Meredith! Do you have any idea what that means? Of course you don't because you don't understand understand anything that entails commitment! She needs to remember this night and you've ruined that for her!" his face turning red as she pointed in her face.
She turned to Charlotte who was now talking to some guy and noticed she was in this alone. Her eyes filled with tears as she looked at her best friend who was looking at her like some cheap nobody. She looked too Jo who was slumped into Alex, her eyes wide as they looked around the room quickly.
"I- I didn't do anything Alex, I swear." her voice cracked.
"Save the tears Meredith, just leave." he looked her up and down before picking up Jo and taking her to an empty booth at the other end of the bar.
She watched as he comforted her as she began to vomit into a bucket. Slowly, she grabbed her bag and stumbled slightly off the stool. Before she stepped outside she turned back to look at Alex who was staring at her, he turned back to Jo and Meredith left the bar.
She had no idea how she was getting home and she was too drunk to even see the numbers on her phone screen. She began to walk off balanced through the parking lot and found herself on the street, the streetlights lighting up the way home for her. She didn't know how long she had been walking for but it felt like forever but as she turned around she could still see the bar, it was like her mind was in an alternate universe to her body. She shocked herself when she walked on her ankle and stumbled into the fence on the side of the path.
"Careful there darling." a voice approached her.
She turned around quickly losing her balance once again as she tried to find where the voice was coming from. A wave of fear radiated through her as she felt a pair of hands on her waist.
"I'm fine." she mumbled as she tried to move away from the strong grip.
"Let me take you home." he said.
"No, get off of me." she said, her voice full of distress. She turned around and elbowed the man in the stomach hoping she could get away, but before she could take another step an even greater force was pushed onto her.
"That's no way to treat a man trying to help you." he whispered down her ear as he held her back to his chest tightly.
"Let me go, please." she began to cry.
"I'll take care of you." he whispered before dragging her to an empty field next to the bar. She tried to scream but it was no use as his hand quickly met her mouth.
She was pushed onto the grass, wincing as her tail bone hit the floor.
"Poor baby." the man teased as he crouched in front of her. She sobered up instantly and further panic ran through her as she recognised him instantly, it was the man from the park. She used the bag that was still held in her hand and smacked it across his face, screaming as he lunged at her.
"You bitch!" he shouted, grabbing her hair and hitting her head against the ground. Meredith tried to fight him away but he was a lot stronger and 100% more sober than she was, he began kicking her in the stomach, her ribs sending shocks of pain through her chest as she sobbed. She took so many blows to the head that she could feel herself becoming dizzy, in a way that she was losing consciousness.
"You look so beautiful angel." she heard as his hands moved under her shirts. She gasped as the coldness of his hands on her stomach and tried to smack them away but she was met with his hand across her face instantly. His hands moved back, this time to the waist of her jeans.
"No, no, stop, please stop- stop." she sobbed trying to push away from him. He kicked her in her face and she fell backwards unable to move.
This was it, she thought as she laid there, sobbing in fear and pain, her jeans were being slipped off, followed by her panties, she heard a rustle and a belt hit the floor and before she could process it, it was too late, he had already taken her. She gasped in pain and began to scream louder as he moved inside of her forcefully, one of his hands trapping her screams as the other one held her throat. She felt paralysed as soon the tears stopped and she became numb, succumbing to be his own personal doll.
"Dr Grey? Dr Grey?" someone called for her and she trembled through the ER. Her vision was blurry and she was dissociating into her own world.
"Meredith!" A hand grabbed her shoulder, she flinched and pulled away instantly turning around to see who it was. Addison.
She stared at her blankly.
Addison gasped as she saw her face, blood dried all over her face and blonde hair, new bruises covering her cheekbones, she noticed red marks, hand marks, around her throat and she gulped as a thousand thoughts ran through her brain. Looking down she noticed her jeans were on inside out.
"Meredith?" Addison moved to try and meet her eyes but when she did, they were empty.
Although she was just an intern, Addison knew the signs and she felt sick as she looked at the women in front of her, the victim. Quickly, she helped Meredith walk into an exam room, guiding her legs by holding her arms, she sat her down on an exam bed and before she could speak she watched Meredith's body become limp as she collapsed onto the bed.
"I need some help in here! NOW!" she shouted out of the door.
Quickly the room was filled with doctors and Meredith was hooked up to various machines, doctors from different departments prodding at her beaten body.
"She has bruises and scratches all up her thighs as well as hand marks around her throat. I think we're looking at a rape victim." a female doctor spoke up sadly.
"Shallow breath sounds on the right, we need to put in a chest tube."
"Left pupil is blown, she needs a head CT."
"Do we know who this is, any ID?" a doctor asked.
"Th-that's Dr Grey." Addison gulped as she watched them put in a chest tube. Meredith gasping for air.
"Dr Meredith Grey!?" The chief shouted as he looked back at her on the table, she was so beaten that no body even recognised her.
"Yeah." Addisons voice broke.
"Okay, is there any one we can contact?" another doctor asked calmly as he took in Addison's shocked state.
They wheeled the bed out of the room, taking her god knows where.
"Derek." Addison breathed quietly.
"Who?" the doctor frowned.
"Derek Shepherd." she muttered.
"Dr Derek Shepherd?" he asked.
"Yeah, they have a daughter together." a tear left her eye.
"Okay, someone page Dr Derek Shepherd 911 immediately!" The chief shouted before running out to follow the other doctors.
My heart is broken for Mer.
