Today is a special day in Brisbane. Why is that? Because…

"I chose Chutney Chimp wrapping paper because Chloe's birthday party is a Chutney Chimp party."

Yes, it appears that it is the birthday of Bluey's best friend! The Heeler's have just finished helping Bluey wrap the present she is going to give to her. The sisters rush toward their motor in eager anticipation for this event until…

"Oh, uh - Bingo, not you."

Apparently, only Bluey has been invited to Chloe's Chutney Chimp themed party. The reason?

"It's because Chloe's turning seven, and she's only inviting seven people."

Well, it would seem that this is not one of those gatherings that have those plus one invites! At least their dad will still be at the house while mum transports Bluey to the party's location.

Despite her dad's reassurances that they'll be able to make their own fun, Bingo remains in a state of melancholy at always being the one who misses out on fun events such as these. A piercing squawk from a passing cockatoo breaks up the silence as it drops one of its feathers on the veranda, giving the little red heeler an idea.

Snagging the tape from the nearby table, she attempts to somehow make it heavier. Waving the cockatoo feather like it was a magic wand of some sort and incanting the word "heavy" it appears that nothing…

(Bingo attempts to move the now heavier tape, which doesn't budge)

Wait, what?! That actually worked?!

(This episode of Bluey is called "Featherwand")

With a thought of what she's going to do today, Bingo goes all throughout the house to "make her own fun". First, she stops by the kitchen, where dad is asking if Bluey wants cereal. He immediately deduces that yeah, she wants cereal. Considering an energetic pop band will be making a song about loving cereal and it being Bluey's favorite song in the future, dad was right!

Bingo sneaks behind the kitchen counter and attempts to use the heavy spell on the box of cereal.

"Huh?"

It appears that the box is not heavier than normal. She attempts to cast the spell again…

This time, the cereal box falls onto the floor. Dad tries to pick up the heavy enchanted cereal box, but it doesn't budge. After making a joke about it being filled with fiber, he decides to just grab the cereal bits out of the box and directly into a bowl. Before leaving the kitchen, Bingo heavies the bowl and a spoon that was going to be used to eat the cereal.

"What's going on?"

Next, Bingo heads into the bathroom, where her older sister is getting ready to brush her teeth. Jumping into the bathtub, she avoids getting caught and when Bluey isn't looking, she casts the heavy spell on her toothbrush. Once Bluey attempts to lift the toothbrush, it sinks like a rock to the ground. Trying to move it doesn't work. So, after asking her mum if she really needs to brush her teeth, she does so by running her mouth against the toothpaste covered parts.

Thirdly, Bingo is just outside their bedroom, where their mum is looking for the party invitation. Bingo slides the invitation and immediately heavies it. After mum finds a green marker to write down the address, Bingo heavies that, too. However, mum actually managed to somewhat move the now heavier marker to write down the address!

Back in the kitchen, dad is attempting to leverage a broom and a rugby ball to pry the spoon off the floor, to no avail.

"What's wrong Bandit? You used to be able to…[grunting] lift… spoons!"

To which Bluey enters the kitchen and asks him what he's doing to which he responds with one of the best quotes of the show.

"Nothing! Eat your floor cereal!"

She actually does so, proclaiming this to be the best morning ever!

Mum also enters the kitchen and brings up the odd occurrences, to which Bandit agrees. Bingo finally reveals herself to the other Heelers by heavying the broom Bandit was using on the spoon, pinning him to the ground like a botched deadlift.

With their target in sight, mum and Bluey chase after Bingo, correctly deducing that she is trying to stop them from going to Chloe's party. Climbing the stairs, they notice that Bingo casted the heavy spell on the yoga ball Bandit sits on because he wrecked his back changing his daughters' nappies, turning it into an Indiana Jones style boulder! They dive out of the way of the ball just in time!

Heading back down to the kitchen after Bingo escaped them, Bluey and mum hatch a plan to get the present and themselves to Chloe's party while Bandit distracts Bingo.

After finally getting the broom off of himself, Bandit stands guard at the door while Bluey and mum execute their plan. Bingo charges at her dad, to which he shouts "you shall not pass" like a famous wizard, hoping that it would stop her. He catches her and claims that was easy but…

"Me. Heavy."

I guess his back is wrecked now.

In the front lawn, Bluey and mum are almost there! Mum just needs to use the car keys to open the door. But Bingo just got through the first line of defense. She rushes at them after casting the spell on the keys. Just when all hope seemed lost, a glimmer of hope passes by as everyone's favorite yellow lab just happens to be walking down the footpath in front of their house.

"Hey, Lucky's dad! You have to stop Bingo!"

"Oh, yeah, right-o!"

To which, an epic anime style battle is presumed to have happened with Lucky's dad Naruto running at Bingo with Bingo wielding the cockatoo feather pointed at him. She points at his hat and casts the heavy spell on it. Knocking him off balance.

This never would have happened if Lucky's dad used his genjutsu on her! What did he think would happen if he just Naruto ran at her?! That she'd die from cringe?

At least their neighbor's cringy distraction bought them enough time to lift the car keys off of the ground despite the heaviness inflicted on it. After dealing with Lucky's dad, Bingo charges at the pair before Bandit comes in and picks up Bingo.

Bluey and mum finally managed to open the motor door. But Bingo is firing off a volley of heavy spells! Eventually, one of the spells hits one of Bandit's bum cheeks, immobilizing him and freeing her from his grasp! Mum manages to get inside the vehicle and urges Bluey to hurry up. Only one problem…

"[Grunts] Bingo heavied Chloe's present!"

One of the spells hit the present. Although, couldn't Bingo have made it easier by heavying the automotive? If they tried to drive off, all the extra weight should friction burn all the rubber off the tyres and stop them from moving anywhere. Regardless…

"That's it. We give up. You win, Bingo."

Feeling satisfied, Bingo undoes the heavy spell on Bandit and the present and allows them to go to the party. After some confusion and confirmation that this isn't a trick, they attempt to head toward the party, but now Bluey doesn't want to go…well kind of. She wants to go, but she also doesn't want to miss out on playing featherwand. When Bingo makes her own fun, she certainly does make her own fun! Bingo reassures her sister that she won't miss out and that they will do something, most likely to Bandit.

"Hey, little help!"

Oh right. Bingo undid the spell on Lucky's dad's hat while Bluey was heading to the party. I wonder how that is going…

Meanwhile, back with Bluey and mum, they are on the road, heading to this "26 Nudgee Road" that was on the birthday party invitation. Upon arriving at the location, they find what appears to be a dilapidated shack masquerading as an antique shop. Although some people that went inside are rumored to describe said interior as "quaint".

"Chambers and Crosthwaite Antiques?"

"Mum, are you sure that this is the right address? This definitely doesn't look like a place where any kid, let alone Chloe, would have a birthday party."

"You're right. I'm going to call Chloe's parents and find out what is going on."

Upon checking her phone, mum sees that Chloe's dad had actually left a voicemail quite some time ago. The time listed was when they were dealing with "Bingo's fun". She plays the voicemail.

"Uh…hey Heelers. I don't know how to tell you this, but I just glanced at the address, and it was the wrong one. The actual place where Chloe's party is being held at is 40 Remora Road. Hercules Street Park is the exact location. Don't worry, you are the first ones that know about this change and I'm going to tell the other 6 invitees' parents. So, I guess I'll see you there?"

Well, it appears that Bingo had so much fun that it allowed the Heelers to overlook this critical piece of information. On the way to the true destination of Chloe's birthday party. Bluey is wondering who the 7 people Chloe invited would be…make that 6 since Bluey herself is one of the invitees.

Arriving at the park, Bluey notices that Chloe, along with a pink poodle and an Afghan hound dressed in hippie style clothing are already here.

"Coco, Indy! You got invited, too!"

The trio look over and see Bluey heading toward them. The 4 friends embrace one another.

"Of course, you 3 would be the first people I would invite, since I would consider you my closest friends!"

"I wonder who the other 4 you invited are…"

Upon pondering this, 2 more invitees arrive, this time, a red kelpie and a dachshund approach the birthday girl.

"I'm surprised you invited us. We don't really interact that much, even though we all go to Glasshouse."

"So, the toddler trio is reunited again…"

"Snickers!"

"What's a toddler trio?"

"Well, my mum told me that Bluey and Coco's mums, as well as her neighbor's mum went to the same mother's group together so I guess that would mean that Bluey, Coco, Bluey's neighbor, Judo, and I were the first 4 people that met each other, even though we don't remember it."

"That's a terrible name."

"Ok, Coco; Do you have a better one?"

"Well, no…but I'll think of one better eventually…and maybe we'll include Judo at that time."

Awkward silence permeates the area. Snickers probably shouldn't have mentioned that, but he saw 3 of the 4 original members at the same place at the same time, he's most likely going to comment about this coincidence. He also should have thought of a better name for their group but it was the first thing that came to his mind.

"That's 5 of the 7 invitees, who are the last 2 people you invited, Chloe?"

Before she could answer that, the last 2 guests arrive. The first was a yellow beagle with glasses and the second was a border collie with a black and white pattern.

"Huh, so the 7 people Chloe invited were Bluey, Coco, Honey, Indy, Mackenzie, Rusty and Snickers."

"Yes, I did."

As the 7 classmates engage in idle talk, Chloe's dad interrupts and declares that since everyone is here the birthday party can begin. As the 7 enter the park, they see a bunch of Chutney Chimp themed objects for the party. They all enter the tent and set their presents for Chloe down on the main table.

"Ok everyone, now for the main event."

Chloe's dad brings out the birthday cake for his daughter, appropriately Chutney Chimp themed, also. With 7 candles upon its frosted exterior. After singing a copyrighted song, she blows out the candles and makes a wish. After eating the banana flavored cake, she moves on to opening the presents…what are they? It's a surprise!

After a few recreational activities, mostly the kids being allowed to play on the nearby playground; As well as Chloe getting to smash a Chutney Chimp themed piñata. The invitees are called back one last time at the party's end to receive their complementary party bag for attending. After one last sendoff, the 7 go their separate ways…until they meet each other again next school day.

With that Bluey and her mum head back home, where they see Bingo making a…something out of wood blocks. Bluey approaches Bingo and shows of the party bag she got. After holding up well after being left out, they execute the plan they made before Bluey left.

The scene shifts to Bandit heading to the dunny. Upon reaching that porcelain throne, Bluey casts the heavy spell on the lid, causing it to fall and stay shut. Bandit tries to budge the lid but it's sealed shut! He heaves the lid and Bingo realizes that Bandit busting all over the bathroom is a bad idea. But before she can undo Bluey's spell on the lid, something bizarre happened.

Bandit managed to overpower the spell and force the lid up, despite it being under the heavy spell! Is Bandit secretly jacked?! That could have been very bad if he didn't make it. He might have to urinate outside, and the neighbors (definitely Wendy) will see him, call Brisbane PD and get him arrested for indecent exposure or something. He also could have gone to the shower, turned on the water and did his business there; Unideal, but it would have worked.

Anyways, crisis averted for now.

The Phenomena Research Organization defines magic conduits as objects that one can use to transfer magic from one object to another. The two subtypes of these conduits are incanted, which consists of objects used to cast spells such as the spellcaster's hands, magic wands/staves etc. Empowered magic conduits are when magic power is put into an object to be held for an indefinite amount of time and released later. Examples are talismans, spell tags, scrolls, crystal balls, pondering orbs, scrying mirrors etc.

Spell book and grimoire type objects are counted as both, Since the book uses the caster's magic, stores the power into the incantations of the spells in the book and are activated by reciting the incantation.

If magic power is put into an object that is not considered a type of vessel (e.g., any type of vial/flask (see: potion making) or empty shells (see: soul striping and/or artificial life creation) and the magic stays in said object it is considered an enchanted object and not a conduit. Think of enchanted items in that blocky game kids like so much.

According to our research, certain types of magic conduits have elemental affinities. Our head researcher likes to tell us of the time he was embedded in an expedition with several cultural anthropologists to understand how beliefs in magic varied across different cultures.

While in the remote Outback, the team discovered a tribe of Aboriginals. As the anthropologists attempted to make contact with them (what fortunate luck that they had a guide who can translate the remote language) the head researcher noticed that a child of the tribe was playing around with a cockatoo feather. The objects that the child was pointing at with the feather seem to either feel lighter or heavier than they normally are supposed to be. He knows this because a stick that the child pointed at was affected by the phenomena and as he tried to move it, the object barely moved, when it should have been easy to move it. Curious, he relayed this information to the group who asked the tribe on his behalf.

The Aboriginal elder explained that in their culture, the cockatoo is a revered and sacred deity-like figure, acting as a psychopomp, guiding the deceased to the spirit realm. They also added that the bird's vibrant plumage is a deterrent to any malevolent spirits. In addition, the bird also symbolizes life, death and rebirth.

Could the feathers of this sacred avian somehow be letting the inhabitants of the tribe access a higher spiritual plane while possessing one of its feathers, allowing one to utilize powers akin to magic, albeit temporarily? Is it possible that any bird could have this weight altering effect? Birds and insects are known to fly…further research must be conducted. Although, every time we try to use an insect wing as a magic conduit, it disintegrates…

Perhaps this "feather wand" has an elemental affinity of gravity?

A. K.

Author's Note: And here is the first alteration. Nothing special, just added a small scene of Bluey actually going to Chloe's birthday party. As of the time of writing this, putting "26 Nudgee Road" into any kind of map shows you the aforementioned antique shop, while doing research on the location (by searching it on Google Maps) I found 2 cheeky reviews mentioning the events of this very episode, one of them being from an automotive company of all things!

I theorized on who the 7 people Chloe invited to her party could be. In this story specifically, I went by which of the characters actually hung out with/played with Chloe in the show itself. I even had them enter by order of importance to Chloe. Bluey being her best friend in episodes like The Adventure and Octopus. Coco and Indy are shown to be her close friends in episodes like Calypso and Wild Girls. Rusty and Snickers are most likely friends in Cricket (for Rusty) and Seesaw (for Snickers). Lastly is Honey and Mackenzie who are at the very least acquaintances, seeing as their families were invited to a communal BBQ in Spy Game.

Happy Birthday is sadly copyrighted and will continue to stay that way until 2030.

Oh yeah, and Bandit managed to pry the toilet lid open this time, as opposed to it not budging in canon and Bandit having to pee on the lawn outside.
