Miranda was out in her front yard attending to her flower garden on a nice Saturday afternoon. Miranda tried to reach out to Elena a couple of times this week, but since Elena never returned her call, Miranda just figured that Elena was just busy with work. Miranda and Elena used to be very close. They had a very good mother and daughter relationship, or at least that's what Miranda thought. But ever since Elena's father passed away from lung cancer, Elena has been kinda distant, and Miranda isn't sure why.
Of course, Mirada would bring up Damon in their conversations, and that's only because she wants her daughter to be happy and she wants Bella to get to know her father, her real father. Miranda loves Matt, and she knows that Matt could make Elena happy, and he's a great father figure to her granddaughter. But deep down, Miranda knows that Matt could never replace Damon where Elena and Bella are concerned.
Hearing a car door open and close, Miranda stood up and wiped her hands off before turning around. As soon as Miranda turned around, she gasped in surprise and saw him walking up her driveway. "Oh my gosh, Damon Salvatore, is that you?"
"The one and only." Damon said with a chuckle as he leaned forward and greeted Miranda with a kiss on her cheek. "It's good to see you, Mrs. Gilbert. How have you been?" Ever since Damon and Elena broke up, Damon always had respect for Mrs. Gilbert, and of course, the feeling was mutual.
" I've been good Damon. Would you like to come inside and join me for coffee?" Miranda asked him.
Damon nods his head with a smile." I would love to join you for coffee Mrs. Gilbert." He answered as he followed Miranda inside the house. The same house that he hasn't been in over five years.
While Miranda was in the kitchen getting them coffee, Damon walked towards the fireplace and looked at the photos that were sitting on the mantelpiece. As he kept looking at the photos, especially the ones with Elena, Damon could suddenly feel his heart starting to beat out of his chest as he couldn't get over how beautiful she was. He even noticed a photo of Elena standing next to some guy with his arm around her waist. Damon couldn't help but cringe at the thought of Elena being in love with another man.
Looking away, Damon noticed another photo of Elena holding a little girl on her lap. The more Damon stared at the little girl, the more he was intrigued by her. Not only did the little girl look like Elena a little, but he couldn't help but notice that she had his eyes and smile. It was like looking in a mirror. But it's impossible for the little girl to look like him. There's no way that she's... she's his daughter. Damon would have known if he and Elena had a daughter together.
Hearing Miranda walk out of the kitchen with two cups of coffee, Damon turned around and walked up to her and grabbed one of the coffee cups from her hand. "Thanks." He said as he took a sip of his coffee before sitting down in one of the chairs and setting the cup down on the side table.
"So, how long are you in town for?" Miranda asked after she took a sip before setting the cup down on the coffee table and then sat back against the couch.
"I am actually moving back home."
"Oh, what made you decide to move back home, after all these years?" Miranda asked curiously.
Sitting up, Damon cleared his throat. "Well, honestly, I wasn't really happy in New Orleans. I've tried to be, but I felt something was missing, and I wanted to come back home. Besides, I am opening up my bar here soon." He said as he reached for his cup to take another drink of his coffee.
"Does Elena know that you're back?"
Damon nods his head as he sets his cup back down. "She knows. She's the main reason why I'm back." He said as he couldn't help but smirk a little as the image of Elena came to his head as she slammed the door in his face.
"Oh, so you talked to her then. How did that conversation go?"
Damon chuckled as he scratched his chin a little. "Let's just say she wasn't too happy when I told her that I didn't just come back to open my bar, but I came back for her. For us. She um... she slammed the door in my face." He said as he snorted a little.
Miranda raises her brows, surprised to hear that Elena would do something like that. "She actually slammed the door in your face?"
Damon nods his head. "Yeah, after she slapped me across the face."
"And, why would she do that?" Miranda asked, shaking her head.
Damon smirks slightly. "Probably because after I told her that I came back for her, I kissed her."
"Wow, that was bold, especially coming from you." Miranda said as she chuckled softly.
"Yeah." Damon said as he cleared his throat again. "Mrs. Gilbert, who's the little girl in the photos with Elena?" Damon wasn't going to bring it up as he thought he would just ask Elena the next time he sees her. But he couldn't stop thinking about it.
Miranda blew out a breath, as she was kinda hoping she didn't have to tell him. But since Damon did ask her, Miranda felt that Damon did deserve the truth. "Damon, she's Elena's daughter." She answered honestly.
"How old is she?" Damon asked softly.
" She just recently turned six this year."
Damon snapped his head up. "Six? Are you telling me that little girl is also my daughter?" Damon asked as he was trying to process this. Damon had a feeling that she was his daughter the moment he saw her face in the photo and noticed that she had his eyes and smile. But he just had to ask to make sure.
Miranda nods her head. "Yeah, Damon, she's your daughter."
Damon wasn't sure what to say as he was too stunned to say anything. He couldn't believe that he actually had a daughter, a daughter that he never knew about. He didn't know that Elena was even pregnant.
"Damon, are you okay?" Miranda asked.
Damon exhales deeply as he nods his head. "Yeah, what's her name?"
Miranda smiles softly. "Her name is Bella."
"Bella." Damon repeated, a smile spreading across his face as he loved the name. "I have a daughter," he said, chuckling softly as he still couldn't believe it. He has a daughter, and nobody had ever told him, not even Elena.
After Damon said goodbye to Miranda and promised that he would come visit more often, he walked towards his car. He then noticed Elena pulling up behind him and getting out of her car. "Hello, Elena," he said as he leaned back against his car, smirking slightly.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Elena asked as she glared at him, crossing her arms over her chest.
Damon shrugged his shoulders a little. "Just visiting an old friend. What's the harm in that?"
Elena scoffs, shaking her head. "I knew it; I knew she was the one who gave you my address. I mean, at first I didn't want to believe it. But seeing you here confirmed my suspicion. Stay away from me and stay away from my mother." She said as she turned around and walked away from Damon and up the driveway.
"What about Bella? Should I stay away from her too?"
Elena suddenly stopped as she closed her eyes for a moment before turning around again. "Did she tell you?" She asked softly.
Damon nodded his head as he walked towards her. "Yeah, she did. But the question is, why didn't you tell me that I had a daughter?"
"Would it have made a difference if I told you or not? You left, remember." Elena said, reminding him.
"Yeah, it would have made a huge difference, Elena. Because if I had known about her or that you were pregnant, I would have stayed, and you know that." He said softly as he gently lifted her chin up, looking into her eyes. "We have a daughter, Elena. This changes everything."
Elena shook her head as she stepped away from him. "It doesn't change anything, Damon. You've been gone for almost six years. She doesn't even know you, and besides, she already has a father." She said softly as she looked down for a moment.
Damon scoffs as he rolls his eyes. "Who? That fiance of yours?"
Elena quickly looked up at him. "How did you know about that?"
"Caroline told me."
Elena rolled her eyes as she shook her head. "Caroline shouldn't have said anything."
"Is it true, then?"
Elena exhaled deeply as she crossed her arms over her chest again. "I never said yes to his proposal."
"Don't you see that it does change everything, and since you never said yes, it means that I still have a chance, that we still have a chance to make this right." Damon stepped closer to her as he placed both hands against her face again. "I am not going away this time, and I'm not giving up on us either."
Elena sighs softly, "I kinda wish you did because it would've made it so much easier on me, if you did give up on us." Elena wishes that Damon never showed up at her house that night. She wished that she never dreamed about him every night, and she also wishes that she didn't start having feelings for him again.
Damon chuckled as he kissed her forehead gently before stepping away from her. "I will see you later," he said with a wink and a grin as he turned around and walked back towards his car. Damon looked at Elena for a moment before driving away.
Elena exhaled deeply as she watched Damon drive away. The moment Damon was gone, Elena turned around and walked back up the driveway and into her mother's house to confront her. Now that Damon knows about Bella thanks to her mother, it makes things more difficult for her.
AN: I would have had this chapter done and the story updated sooner, but I was having little trouble towards the end of the chapter. More Delena moments are on their way. I'm not too sure about this chapter honestly. But hopefully you all will still enjoy it. As always leave reviews and I will update as soon as I can.
