War of Fates

Chapter 1

With the end of the Tournament of Power over, and all universes returned, it was easy to assume that life would just go on as it did before.

Yet, nothing lasts forever. With Freiza given life again, no one really knew what he was up to. Frieza had not caused any problems thus far, so he had been left alone.

Goku went back to his life of turnip farming, but he never forgot to train. with his new found transformation, Ultra Instinct; Goku trained with Whis, to further master the transformation and make the most out of what he can do. Achieving Ultra Instinct made Goku realize that his potential for power was far greater than he anticipated. He may have mastered Ultra Instinct, but he was determined to understand it fully, and what it can do. He had to train himself to allow his instinct to truly take over, to be able to clear his mind of his thoughts, to focus on the moment.

Vegeta prided himself in his training, so he also continued. Seeing Goku's power, and what he can do made Vegeta want to try harder. He wondered if he could achieve Ultra Instinct like Goku, or maybe something else, like a transformation of his own. If Goku can achieve more power, than surely he can too. He trained with Beerus as much as he could. Of course he had his evolved Super Saiyan Blue, but he knew he could do more. He could feel it.

Aside from that, Vegeta continues to raise his children. Often being dragged on outings or to parties he never wanted to go to. Bulma was very social, which couldn't really be said for Vegeta. He would be quite happy to to be anywhere but around groups of people he barely knows. Vegeta went to these places though, because Bulma insisted, and he knew what she could be like.

Life just went on, as it should.

Vegeta, Bulma and their children were out on a shopping trip. Bulma was in the changing rooms with the children while Vegeta stood outside the changing rooms. He was leaned against the wall, arms folded, and his usual scowl on his face. He very obviously had the face of a man who'd do anything to not be here.

Soon enough, something made the scowl fall from his face. He uncrossed his arms and pulled himself away from the wall. In replacement of his scowl, his face showed a look of curiosity, and a little worry. Something wasn't right, he could feel it. He looked around him, and out into the street. He couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.

"That power..." Vegeta muttered to himself "Where's that coming from...?"

The power Vegeta could feel was incredible. He didn't know of anyone with that sort of power. surely he'd know? There was only one thing to do; find out if the others felt it too. If they did, and it wasn't any of them, there was a problem. Vegeta wasted no time and left to find Goku and the others.

By the time Bulma left the changing rooms Vegeta was gone. She sighed before continuing shopping.

Vegeta flies to Goku's home, to see him in the field down below. He heads straight for the other saiyan and lands neatly on the ground behind him.

Goku was stood looking over the cliff edge near his home. He hadn't even noticed Vegeta getting there.

"Kakarot" Vegeta says, refusing to use anything other than Goku's Saiyan name.

Goku turns to see Vegeta stood before him. "Vegeta, what's up?"

"Did you feel it?" Vegeta asked knowing if he did, he'd know what Vegeta was talking about.

"Yes" Goku replies "I wonder who it is"

"It can't be good." Vegeta says looking off into the distance.

"I wanna fight 'em" Goku says perking up

"You want to fight everyone Kakarot." Vegeta says rolling his eyes.

"That's some amazin' power!" Goku says excitedly.

Goku was right and Vegeta couldn't deny it. the power was indeed amazing.

"We need to find out who it is." Vegeta says finally.

"But how?" Goku asks scratching his head.

"We need to get everyone together." Vegeta says "We all need to figure this out."

Vegeta was right, they wouldn't be able to do this alone. Goku nodded with approval and together they went to get everyone else together. There was a lot to work out, who it is, where they are, and if they're a threat. Getting everyone together was a task in itself with many questions and Bulma shouting at Vegeta for just leaving and not saying anything. Beerus and Whis had to be coaxed with some new food for him to try, Whis and Beerus jumped at the oppertunity.

"Look," Vegeta says "Kakarot and I are not the only ones who felt that huge surge of power today and I know it."

"I wonder who it is" Gohan wonders

"Right now, we have no idea, but we need to figure this out." Vegeta says "If we are not careful, this could all end up going very badly."

"Why? They're not attacking anyone?" Bulma asks

"The power we felt was beyond anything I've ever felt." Vegeta says "I don't believe someone with that sort of power would reveal it like that and not use it."

"Wait..." Gohan says "What if that power is purposely being used to draw us in, like they want us to find them?"

"That's possible..." Vegeta says

"Then let's be prepared for what they throw at us." Goku says "We are more powerful now, they may not even know that!"

"So how do we do it?" Piccolo asks "How do we find whoever this is?"

"That's where I'm stuck." Vegeta begrudgingly admits

"Dad, do you think you could use your Instant Transmission on that power?" Gohan asks "To teleport us to it's location?"

"I dunno" Goku admits as he shrugs

"We'd have to be prepared for a fight." Piccolo says "There's a chance that they'll attack us as soon as they see us."

"Then be prepared to fight." Vegeta says "We will have to wait until we feel it again."

They just had to wait.

And sure enough 10 minutes later, they did. That power, they felt it again; just as strong as the first time. There was no mistake.
Without missing a beat, everyone makes sure they are touching Goku.

Goku closed his eyes, Focusing. With the help of training his Ultra Instinct, he was better able to focus, targeting this incredible power. searching for a way to get there. but he couldn't find anything to latch on to.
Goku kept trying, hoping to find something, anything.
still nothing.

Goku had to give up. He was just wasting energy at this point. He just couldn't do it.

"Sorry guys, I can't do it." Goku says looking disappointed.

"We'll figure it out." Krillin says

"They won't stay hidden forever." Vegeta says "I'll draw the bastard out."

"How?" Goku asks

"They might think they're powerful, but maybe they'll think twice after I'm done." Vegeta says with a scowl

"Goku, did you see anything when you tried getting there?" Beerus asked "Anything that could give us an idea of who we are dealing with."

"No." Goku replies "There was nothing. That's why I couldn't get us there."

"What about the surroundings?" Vegeta asks "Did you see anything?"

"No, it was really dark" Goku says "This person is really clever, and I can't wait to meet 'em!"

"The bigger question is what they want." Bulma pipes up

"The food?" Goku jokes watching as Beerus and Whis are mostly occupied eating.

"Really Kakarot?" Vegeta sighs "You really think someone would show off their power so we bring them food?" Vegeta almost facepalms at the thought.

"Worked once before didn't it?" Goku laughs looking back toward Beerus and Whis.

Vegeta looked over at the God. In a way Goku was right. Beerus came to destroy Earth, he didn't believe Earth had anything worth existing for. Next thing, he's being offered food, and it actually was working. He almost laughed at the thought.
Yet, it would not work this time around. This was different. He could feel it. He didn't know how, he just could. It bothered him that it could be anyone. so many enemies after them. Goku Black was never really gone, he only got pulled back to his time. Freiza was given life again after the Tournament of Power, which meant no one knew what he was up to. Other enemies had a habit of coming back after being believed to be dead.

"Vegeta, please be careful." Bulma says suddenly "I don't like the sound of this."

"What's there to worry about?" Vegeta asks sounding almost offended.

"None of this sits right with me." Bulma admits. "It sounds like a trap. I think that whoever is doing this is going out of their way to draw you in."

"Wouldn't they make themselves more obvious?" Goku asks scratching his head

"Not if they didn't want you to realize it." Bulma says

"Good point." Goku sighs a little.

"Then what do we do?" Vegeta asks

"Do this on our terms." Bulma says "Make them come to us. We will have the advantage. I assume they want you dead right? So if they're that desperate, they'll give up waiting and come to find you."

"That's a good point." Piccolo says "So how are we doing this?"

"We could make them think that its just Kakarot and I." Vegeta says "But you guys will be hidden. They may be able to get me and Kakarot, but they can't stop us all."

"This means it could happen any time." Piccolo says "You realize we will basically have to be around each other daily. it won't be easy if you're caught in it and we aren't there."

"Then I guess that's what we will have to do." Vegeta sighs

"In that case, I should train." Goku says "I want to be prepared for this guy, and I feel like it might be an Ultra Instinct kinda fight."

"It may be, Kakarot." Vegeta says

Goku and Whis find an open spot behind the Capsule Corp to train for a while. It gave them plenty of room to use Ultra Instinct properly. It could be a hard form to maintain due to the amount of stamina needed to hold it, and that's without doing anything. Over time, Goku has been able to maintain the Ultra Instinct form for much longer periods. Goku wants to be able to hold the form for as long as he wants to. Whis clearly has been able to do so. Whis is nearly always in the Ultra Instinct form, which is why he's always so quick.
Deep down Goku wondered if Ultra Instinct was going to be enough. He remembered the power he felt earlier in the day. it was intense, and he's not felt a power like that before. it made him excited, but a little worried too. He also remembered the visions Black let him see. His own death. Then the horrified faces of Chi Chi and Goten. then there were the screams. It haunted him. These days it fueled him to get stronger. If this future was to come to pass, Goku would make sure to turn the tide. He couldn't let that happen to them. They don't deserve to die. Goku shook off the vision with effort.
Goku had to remind himself of the things Whis had been teaching him. In order to fully utilize Ultra Instinct he had to think less. He had to let everything flow, with a clear mind, focusing on only what as happening there and then. Goku takes a moment to clear his mind before taking the Ultra Instinct form. He had to admit, the form felt great. The power was godly. Training with Whis was a great challenge, if he could beat Whis, he could beat almost anyone. He felt confident in his power, but he wanted to keep breaking his limits just as he has before. He felt he had to get stronger, he worried that Black would return. He worried that future would come. Yet, he buried that feeling, focusing on his training with Whis.

Beerus suggested Vegeta do the same.
Vegeta agreed, knowing he could use this time to get stronger, he knew he could do more than evolve his Super Saiyan Blue. Training under the God of Destruction would teach Vegeta a lot of things, and the training is far better suited to Vegeta than any training he's ever had. Vegeta thinks, a LOT. So training with Whis would be impossible. Beerus is training Vegeta to utilize the mindset he has. Vegeta is determined to get stronger, and break his limits.
He worries for Bulma, and his children. He would never tell anyone or show it though. He remembered the times where the future Trunks had came to him, and made Vegeta aware of all that was going on in the future. He didn't know if it would come to pass, but in that future, he was dead, unable to protect his family, or even stop Black. It made him angry at the thought. He wanted to be strong enough, he wanted to protect those he loves. He hated to think there could be a time they need him and he can't be there. He never even figured out what happened to his precious little girl in the future, but he also didn't want to know. the anger he felt thinking about it fueled his training with Beerus.

What follows next won't be easy. Everyone knows it, the only thing they can do is be there and protect one another. With the thoughts placed in their heads, they did wonder if the life future Trunks leads will happen; but no one really had too much time to think about it. They had to focus on right now.
