Author's Note
Hey Everyone! I am so glad you decided to read this story, this idea has been in my head for a while, and I finally decided to write it down. Just a few things, I did not grow up in the 60's and 70's and I don't like being inaccurate about time frames, so I decided to make this story in the present time. This story may be different from other ones you may have read, I didn't want to do the same storyline, or include the same ideas I've seen so many times. I am fully aware that some people may not like this, and that's fine. All I ask is that you be respectful you don't like it you don't have to read it, simple as that. I am open to any ideas or criticism, feel free to send me a message! If you like it please drop a review, I love reading them! I hope you all enjoy this story and happy reading!

"You nervous?" Elizabeth asks snapping me out of my own thoughts, I pull my head away from the window to look at her. I still find it strange how fast Elizabeth acclimated herself to our lives. Darry and she had started dating shortly after everything went down in Tulsa, I don't think Darry thought it would get serious. But slowly it did, and slowly Elizabeth became a part of our lives. I don't think we realized how much we missed having a mother figure in our lives until she came along.
"I'm good." I reply, turning my attention to the raindrop dripping down the passenger side window. I hear Elizabeth sigh as she turns into a parking spot in front of a strip mall. "What are we doing?" I ask.
"I just want to talk to you for a few minutes." She starts, "I get that this is a big change for you. New school. New state. New everything." She pauses for a second putting her hand over mine. "But I promise it's good, this is a good thing." She says reassuringly. I sigh leaning my head back against the seat closing my eyes the past three weeks have been a whirlwind of craziness. Darry had come home one night and announced he had gotten a new job, a new job that required him to move to Boston. I'd be lying if I said I was surprised this happened, I knew it was coming and some of it, ok all of it was my fault. After everything that happened with Johnny and I things were calm for a good year or so and then I don't know what happened. The therapist I was court ordered to see told Darry it was hormones, normal for a fifteen-year-old boy. However, after the fourth fight at school, the threat of expulsion and a pregnancy scare, Darry had, had enough. Saying I got chewed out would be a massive understatement, he screamed at me for a solid two hours than essentially banished me to my bedroom, while he figured out what to do with me. Elizabeth had a friend who was a behavioral therapist for "troubled youth" who agreed to talk to me. After hours in her office answering question after question, she told Darry that I had deep seeded anger issues due to everything that happened. She gave him the best three options, a change of scenery, physical activity or medication. Medication was out, we had already tried that, all it did was make me intolerable to live with, Darry's words not mine. The next day Darry signed me up for the gym he was doing renovations for and signed me up for the most physical activity they had, ice hockey. We had all grown up playing various sports on the street, baseball, football, and occasionally street hockey. I had always been the best at it but being on the ice is a totally different story. It took a solid two weeks and multiple injuries to be able to handle myself. But then something strange happened, I fell in love with it. Also, it was a great excuse to physically hit someone without getting in trouble for it. I had just gotten named starting center for the recreational team when Darry came home telling us how he had gotten a job offer in Boston and we had three weeks to pack. Which brings us to where we are now, on my way to some hoity toity private school who Darry had without me knowing sent my hockey tapes to and filled out the application. It had been quite a shock when I found out I had not only been accepted but I had gotten a full scholarship to play hockey for their team. A team which mind you pumps out a ton of pro hockey players. "It's ok to be nervous." Elizabeth adds.
"I heard; I got the same speech from Steve this morning." Elizabeth smiles, Darry had extended the invitation to Boston to all the guys. Two-Bit who was still on parole couldn't come, and there is no way he would have left his mom and sister behind. Steve who had nothing going for him in Tulsa at this point said what the hell and decided to come. Him and Soda found a job quickly at a local car dealership, Steve in service and Soda selling cars. And let me tell you Soda is a natural at it. Steve is also taking night classes to get his personal training license, sometime after him and Evie broke up, he threw himself into fitness, at this point he spends more time in the gym than I do.
"Well, you know if Steve says it then it's got to be true." She adds with a smirk pulling back into traffic, "I really do think this is going to be great for you." She tells me giving my hand an extra pat. We ride in silence the rest of the way; I think both of us gasp when we pull into the long circular driveway in front of the school. My old high school could fit in the parking lot with room to spare.
"I don't know about this." I say as Liz parks and the two of us get out and head towards the main door. School doesn't start for two more weeks but Coach Edwards wanted me to come in and get fitted for uniforms and equipment and I am supposed to get a tour of the school, the new laptop that comes with the scholarship and my school uniforms.
"It'll be fine." She says as I pull the doors open for her, the inside of the school is like nothing I have ever seen before. It looks more like a hotel than a high school, a janitor points us in the way of the office and the two of us go in. The office is all highly polished hardwood, marble counters and a Goddamn chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Liz gets us signed in and then sits next to me in an oversized leather chair.
"Your guide should be here soon." The secretary says peering at us from behind her computer screen, "I think you're really going to like it here." She adds, "Coach Edwards is over the moon you are here, says we're a shoo in for the championship with you playing center." She pauses, "Shame Finn went down with that knee injury." She shrugs and goes back to her typing. Liz and I exchange looks, she picks up a magazine and starts flipping through it while I scroll through my emails on my phone. We both look up when the door opens, and a petite blonde walks in stopping at the counter, when she turns around and smiles at me I swear to God all the air gets sucked out of the room, and I find it hard to think for a second or two.
