Dirk the Adoptive, Protective, Father.
Lloyd continues walking through the shaded forests as he eventually makes it back to his house. The small two storied, red tiled roof, house surrounded by large trees and a small river sits next to a carefully carved gravestone marked, Anna Irving. The wind whistles through the pieces of clothing hanging from the clothing line set up near the large wooden barn area for Noishe. Lloyd breathes in as the trees sway slightly towards the sun and the peaceful sounds of the river's stream interrupt the forest's quiet.
"I'm home, Mom." Lloyd whispers under his breath as he faces the gravestone surrounded by clay pots holding colorful flowers and vines.
As Lloyd opens the wooden door to the house, a man half his size with a large brown beard turns around to face him. "Welcome home!"
"Hi, Dad." Lloyd smiles and nervously looks back to the smoking pot behind his father. "Say, is there any chance you could make me a Key Crest?"
"Why do you need a Key Crest all of a sudden?"
"I met someone today who has an Exsphere without a Key Crest. An Exsphere without a Key Crest is bad for you, right? Or, wait, don't tell me that it's too late once you've already attached it to your body."
"Nah, not at all. But even removing an Exsphere that lacks a Key Crest is dangerous. So the only thing to do is to make an accessory out of- -inhibitor ore and carve the charm into that, making it into the Key Crest instead.
"Hmm. And then it'll be okay, huh? Then, could you make me a bracelet as soon as possible?"
"Just a minute. The Exsphere with no Key Crest that you're talking about, who has it?"
"Huh? Ah uhh, a traveler. A traveling mercenary." Lloyd scratches the back of his neck nervously.
"Baloney! Exspheres are basically only used by Desians. If he took one from a Desian, it should already have a Key Crest on it."
"Uhh, well- -"
"Dwarven Vow #11: Lying is the first step to the path of thievery! Tell me the truth, why do you need a Key Crest?" The curious father narrows his eyes.
"I met someone at the ranch today who had an Exsphere equipped without a Key Crest."
"You went to the ranch?!" His voice echoed from outside the house.
"I-i'm sorry. A bunch of stuff happened, and- -"
"You didn't let the Desians see your Exsphere, did you?"
"No, don't worry. I made sure. But why is it so important to hide this thing? The mercenary that came to the village today wore his right out in the open."
"Your Exsphere is special." The father's face was saddened.
"Special? Is it different from the ones the Desians have equipped?"
"That Exsphere is your mother's keepsake. The Desians killed your mother in order to take it from her."
"They did?" Lloyd's eyes widened in surprise.
"I told you about how I found you at the cliff near the ranch, right? Your mother was still conscious at that time, so she explained everything. There's no doubt about it."
"Why didn't you ever tell me?!"
"If I had, you'd have run out and tried to take revenge on the Desians. The Tower of Salvation appeared today. Just leave the rest to Colette. That'll take care of the Desians too."
"But still- -"
"Don't get involved with the Desians." Dirk steps closer to Lloyd in a demanding tone. "Your mother protected you and that Exsphere with her life. Don't throw either away."
"So will you make me the Key Crest?"
"Lloyd! Have you been listening at all?!"
"Yeah, I heard you! But you can't expect me not to do anything now that I know!"
His father, Dirk, then takes his gloved hand and aggressively swings it at Lloyd's chest, sending him slamming into the door frame, knocking down several books and plants down on the shelf in the process. Lloyd clutches his shoulder and winces in pain.
"Agh! You don't have to hit me!"
The expression on Dirk's face deeply saddens as Lloyd runs out of the house sweating. He takes a deep breath and looks up at the stars, absorbing everything he'd just been told. He sighs before turning around to see the party of Kratos, Raine, Genis, and Colette standing right next to him silent.
"Oh. Let me guess, you heard that just now?" Lloyd stares at the ground embarrassed.
Genis begins, "I'm sorry, because of me you- -" .
"It's okay. It's not your fault."
"Lloyd, you should go speak to Colette." The professor turns to Colette before looking away, frowning. "We'll wait here."
"Okay."
"Lloyd, Let's go up to the terrace." Colette suggests as she points to the wooden balcony sitting on the red roof.
"Okay, I'll be there in just a second."
"I'll meet you there."
Everybody seems to go off on their own as Lloyd examines the area. Kratos is standing above Anna's grave, as Raine and Genis are sitting by the river.
Biological Parents:
"Whose gravestone is this?" Kratos looks down to Lloyd.
"Ah. You heard right? It's my mom's."
"Anna. Hm. Is your father alive?"
"I don't know. But Dirk is my dad."
"Yes, that was a careless thing to ask. I'm sorry."
Half Elves:
Genis turns to Lloyd. "The Desians are half elves right? So does that mean that half elves are responsible for your mother's death?"
"Well, not all half elves are Desians. Right? I don't care if they're half elves or not."
"Y-yeah, you're right"
