Chapter 4
Free falling was a weird sensation every time Jeanne did it granted, she usually couldn't think about it due to the life-threatening situation that was usually happening, but this time it was different it was just a school test, and she would be having as much fun as she could during it.
looked around the forested area for any specs of red and gold trying to see where Pyrrha would land, she had forgotten last time Pyrrha had saved her from going splat but she wasn't incompetent this time around and Pyrrha wouldn't have to save her so Jeanne would have to look for her.
Finally spotting what she was looking for Jeanne pulled out Feirbois mecha-shifted it to a spear and through it straight for Pyrrha snagging at her armor and pinning her to the tree, she then snapped her shield out keeping it as her sheath and stabbed it into the nearest tree to secure her own landing and started to skip over to where she had pinned Pyrrha.
Jeanne was chuckling to herself call her petty and childish she didn't really care it was not exactly far off, but she was just so happy at pinning Pyrrha and reversing the situation that happened last time and it just felt good to not make an absolute fool of herself this time around.
When she had finally made it over to Pyrrha she had to doge a sharp object that came flying towards her, it just so happened to be her spear "whoa! Careful with that its pointy!" she exclaimed, picking up the spear mecha-shifting it back to a sword and sheathing it.
Pyrrha smiled, not quiet a happy to see you smile a more amuse smile of mirth "oh? Could I not say the same about you? After all that spear was used to pin me to a tree" she asked
Jeanne looked away embarrassed at being called out and pouted "well I wanted to be partners with you and if you aren't moving and I know where you are it makes eye contact easier" Jeanne then turned to look directly into Pyrrha's emerald eyes "see we are partners now. Plus, you were the one that said I would make a good leader were you not?"
Pyrrha started to laugh "yes partners, I suppose I did say that maybe next time you let your teammate know the plan? Shall we get moving towards to objective now? I believe we are meant to go in this direction." Pyrrha said as she started to move in the completely wrong direction but who was Jeanne to correct such a pretty lady, she just began to walk with Pyrrha side by side.
Up on the cliff top Glynda was looking through all of the cameras of the forest tracking her new potential students "and that is the final pairing" Ozpin just hummed "this particular pair could go far a four-time tournament and a fourteen-year-old child with as much experience as a veteran hunter and she got a hunter recommendations as well it seems" Glynda continued, Ozpin simply hummed again.
Taking a sip of his mug he finally began to move towards Glynda "I think this year does have a lot of potential especially with her daughter being in it" he trailed of looking at a picture of Ruby "a true hunter" Ozpin mumbled.
Jeanne was standing in front of a very familiar cave that gave her a lot of embarrassment remembering "You think this is it? The non-descript cave that definitely does not give off the ancient ruins look.
Pyrrha blushed in embarrassment "I thought that maybe the ruins were inside, no?" she smiled sheepishly "but if you don't think so we can move on" Jeanne sighed "well if you think so we can go in, but the second this goes wrong I reserve bragging rights, deal?" Jeanne looked over to Pyrrha who had a beaming smile "Deal!" and started to walk into the cave.
"See cave drawings, I guess I was right" Pyrrha said as she ran her fingers around the paintings inspecting the old art "oh where is the relic then if milady was right then it should be nearby no?" Jeanne asked in amusement, feeling a bit petty.
"I'm sure it's got to be nearby..." Pyrrha paused for a second then spoke again "do you feel that?" Jeanne perked up at that line and smirked "What? Soul crushing regret?" "…no, it's warm" she looked over her shoulder to face Jeanne to see her eyes widen in surprise.
"Umm Pyrrha maybe we should leave…as quickly and quietly as possible" Jeanne tried to lead Pyrrha away by grabbing her arm and lead her back to the entrance of the cave 'I may have forgot that Pyrrha isn't as skilled as she was this may have been a bad prank, too late now I guess."
Pyrrha surprised by Jeannes now serious demeanor turned around to see a giant glowing stinger right in front of her face the only natural response Pyrrha had was to quietly back away from it before turning to Jeanne and begin to walk away as stealth as possible.
Apparently not stealthy enough there was a loud snap that echoed throughout the cave that came emanating from Pyrrha. Pyrrha looked down to see a broken stick then looked at Jeanne and back to the dark abyss behind them, then a deafening screech came from the cave and the pair knew they had been found out they abandoned stealth and went for a full sprint.
The pair came tumbling out of the cave and began to pant Jeanne looked over to Pyrrha "do you think we got away from it?" just as Pyrrha was about to reply there was a loud bang rom the cave and then a thrash then crash stones came flying out as the monster came through the cave "no I don't think we did, run!".
Yang and Blake had arrived at the actual ruin site, Yang looked over her shoulder to look at Blake "do you think this is it?" she asked Blake gives Yang a look but gave no answer and carried on walking towards the ruins. When they arrived, they saw pedestals that had statues on them, Blake looks over the statues "chess pieces?" she stated confused as she looked over the black king piece, yang was also looking over chess pieces that where present "some of the pieces are missing, looks like we weren't the first to arrive here" Blake hummed at Yang's words "well I guess we should pick one.
Yang walked over to the knight piece "how about a cute little pony?" Blake smirked and walked towards the center of the temple "sure" yang picked up the piece and walked over to where Blake was standing. "Well, that wasn't too hard!" came the voice of an enthusiastic Yang "well it's not like this place was very difficult to find" Blake replied as they share a smile.
Blakes bow twitched "did you hear a scream?" Yang looked at Blake with skepticism "heads up!" came a scream from above as Ruby came falling through the sky and crashing down onto Yang and Blake.
