Purple was quick to question how much his mother had actually grown since he last saw her.
Since they were in a shitty part of where Gold apparently lived, and his mom had never been the type to actually pick a fight with anyone.
He knew that from childhood experiences.
So it stunned him when Gold had said she had fought off monsters that had constantly been showing up.
"My mom? Fighting? Those are words I'd never put in the same sentence." Purple said.
"How so?"
Purple stayed silent, childhood memories circling in his head.
"Touchy subject?"
"Kinda..."
Gold gave him a look of sympathy. "Oh, well, we're here!"
A feeling of worry crossed over him. Having not seeing his mom in years, he wondered if she'd even recognize him. Had she forgotten who her son was?
He'd changed a lot the those years, and more recently, so it wouldn't surprise him if she didn't recognize him.
Hell, would he even recognize her?
"Purple? There she is!" Purple caught glimpse of a pink stick figure swiftly dodge a monsters attack.
"What the...what is that?!" Purple exclaimed.
"That's just one of the big scary things that's been after us. Unsure of where they came from, but they've been after us for weeks."
"They belong in hell, that's where they should be!" Orchid yelled, seemingly hearing the small boy.
Purple said nothing, wondering if it was even a good idea.
"Do I...say something? Would she even recognize me?! Was this a bad idea?!" Purple's mind started spiraling faster than he wanted it to.
"I got this. Hey Orchid! I have someone you might wanna meet!" Gold shouted.
Orchid finished fighting off the large beast and turned to look at Gold. "Who is it?!" She stopped herself the second she saw Purple.
"Mom?"
"What do you three morons want?!" Green yelled from behind his door as Red continued to bang on it.
"Green, please! We've got something to tell you!" Yellow screamed.
Green suddenly threw the door open. "WHAT?!"
"So uhm...we might be able to bring Sec and Purple back?"
Green's eyes widened. "We can...what?"
"Chosen has more details, but with how things are moving, it'll be working in less than a week."
Suddenly, Green went from grieving to determined to bring his friends back. "Well, what are we waiting for?! Let's go!" He dashed downstairs.
"That's the happiest he's been in...like, two days." Red noted.
"Hell be happier once we get the communicator up and running and we can actually communicate with them.
"You think it'll work?" Asked Blue.
"Damn well it better. If it doesn't, God know what we'll do."
Second sat across from Victim, who was eyeing him very suspiciously, and it was beginning to scare him.
"Vic? Is there just gonna be an awkward silence or are you going to explain to me what you mean?"
"How many stickmen has he murdered since me?"
"...What?"
"Our Creator, Second. How many stickmen has he killed since he killed me almost eighteen years ago?"
"Alan was a kid. Teenager even! He was just messing around!"
"THEN WHY DID HE NAME ME VICTIM?!" Victim screamed.
Second stunned himself silent. Who was Alan, really?
"...What did he do to you?"
"Everything you can do to a stick. I'm not sure how you allied with him, but I will not trust him until I know his intentions are true!"
"He's been like this years! You've probably seen it! His intentions are true!"
"Then what about that man who brought you two here?!"
"King?...He did that for-"
"Who? Your Purple friend?!"
"No! He did that for Gold!" Second yelled.
"Then...who is Purple to him?"
"To King, he's...he's the son that he tried so hard to protect, but got so fat away from doing so. He fought with his life on the line to save him!"
Victim stared at him blankly.
"He does care about Purple. I know he does. Purple would've been here forever ago if he didn't. And I'm sure Alan cared about you, but was just too stubborn to act on it."
"Alan? Care?"
"He cares about me! And...maybe Chosen and Dark, but I don't know. Yes, he's stubborn, but he would've had created you if you didn't mean something to him. Just like...King wouldn't have taken Purple in if he hadn't cared about him."
Victim's gaze grew softer looking at him.
"Vic, please. Help us get home. I'm sure Alan will apologize to you, and you don't have to come home with us but please...just get us home."
"We've got Orchid!" Gold yelled as he entered the room with Purple and Orchid.
"And I've got a way for the two of you," Victim stood up and gave Purple and Second a glance. "To get home to your friends."
The two younger ones shared a look of excitement.
"Thanks, Vic," Orchid muttered.
"They call this the day of Surrection," Chosen explained. "The deceased can return to life between sunrise and sunset, if they have a certain mission in mind. And essentially, if they complete that mission, they can return to life permanently. Nobody believes it, though. They thinks it's bullshit."
"It sounds like bullshit." Green mumbled. "How does that logically work?!"
Chosen pointed to an artists depiction in the book. "Appearantly, the deceased travel through a portal like this to get back to our realm. Then, if they fail the mission, they travel back through this."
"So it's basically a timed portal run." Yellow summarized.
"Kinda. If we can get through to the others, we can explain this to them, and hopefully figure out some type of mission for them to complete." Chosen explained.
"Like what?" Blue asked.
"...We'll figure it out. For now, let's just get the communicator completed so we can talk to them." Yellow concluded.
"Right!"
