Do my stories have to much dialogue? should i do more explaining? LMK!
Sakura had been to parties before, but they were never like this one, this one was for Sasuke's return. He was finally home. She had no idea what to wear, or what to get him. It had alays been easy with Naruto, shed just buy him ramen or a new kunai set, somthing practical and useful. But she felt that sasuke didnt need something like that. Or maybe he did?
Before she could even step into her office at the hospital she was followed my a girl with long blonde hair.
" Hey Forehead! What's up? You seem nervous." Ino said
" Sasuke is having a welcome back party and he invited me but I dont know what to get him or what to wear."
"You already know what im going to say. Let's go SHOPPING!!"
It wasn't long before Ino had two of the interns cover their shifts at the hospital so they could go to some boutiques in town. The first one they walked I to was pretty much full of sun dresses, they had spent an hour in there as Ino had tried on just about half the store. The next store was filled with beautiful dresses, one in particular caught her eye, it was a shiny black with hints of gold swirled around and on the trim. She walked over to it picking it up and admiring its golden trim and beautiful embellishments.
After 10 minutes of staring at the dress, the shopkeeper came over.
" Hello Miss! Are you Interested in that dress?"
" I am! its so beautiful "
The shopkeeper walked behind the counter motioning for sakura to go eith here. She pulled out a velvet black box with gold trim " Well we have a beautiful set of gold jewelry to go with it if youd like." She handed the box to sakura so she could open it, and when she did her face lit up. A beautiful dainty necklace with a moon on it, and a set of earrings with stars.
"Oh my, these are gorgeous. I'll take these. "
Sakura and ino had finished shopping around 1pm, so they decided to grab somthing to eat and go back to Sakuras apartment to get ready. And by the time they were done it was 3.
" Alright forehead, lets get you ready!" Ino takes way to much pleasure in these things.
Sakura took out her dress and put it on, seeing how the shorter, lower cut dress would suit her body type, and it was perfect.The dress showed a little cleavage but not to much, It passed her 'It has to be below my fingertips' rule and it was gorgeous. Actually, she was gorgeous.
She put on her jewelry and ran to her closet to find the lair of black heels Ino had bought her quite some time ago. Slipping them on she put a touch of mascara on and waited for into to finsh her look. A full face of makeup is a little silly for a bar night.
She had no idea what to expect with this party, naruto was predictable with his parties but this one was different. What she definitely didn't expect was that there would be so many people there. Everyone from the academy that were good friends had come to welcome Sasuke home.
"Theres sakura! Hey Sakura, You look beautiful!"
This was the only time sakura had seen naruto dressed up. He was in black pants and a white button up shirt with his slides on.
" Thank you Naruto, you look dashing yourself. Wheres Kakashi-sensei and Sasuke?"
" Well Sasuke im not sure about but kakashi said he wasent coming."
" You do know you should still use his proper honorific right Naruto? Hes the hokage, not an academy friend." She was tired of berating him for his misuse of his friendship with him.
Naruto grabbed sakuras hand and pulled her to the bar so they could order drinks. Naruto choosing a beer and sakura opting for a non-alcoholic fruit punch in case they had to call her into the hospital.
" I can sense Sasukes chakra signature sakura-chan, lets go find him."
They walked out onto the balcony of the bar, drinks in hand. Sasukes chakra was calm, and gentle. He stood there in his navy blue button up, black pants and dress shoes.
" Teme! This party is for you ya know so stop moping around, have fun and drink!"
Sasuke turned around and looked at him annoyed, " If I was going to drink I would already have one, dobe."
" Geez, fine then! I'm going to dance I'll see you two later." Naruto gave sakura a wink and she turned bright red. Like a tomato
Sakura walked up to the railing of the balcony and turned to sasuke, " How come your not enjoying yourself?"
" How do you know im not?"
" Im a medical ninja, amongst many other things, its my job to determine how someone is feeling based of their chakra signature. "
" Ah thats right. I dont really enjoy parties" He turned towards her, looking her in her eyes. Shes beautiful.
" Well me neither, but I came because you wanted me here and its nice to catch up with friends after not seeing them in awhile."
" What if we left?" he talked just above a whisper, she could barely make out what he was saying.
" Leave? But its your party and Naruto would probably throw a fit if we did!" Who would notice? She knew theyd know, but right now, she didnt care. " Okay, lets go. "
He looked at her and gave a slight smile, following her off the balcony and jumpingg roof to roof until they arrived at her house.
She opened the door to her apartment and motioned for him to join her inside. She had already gotten to her kitchen and begun opening her cabinet.
" Want some tea Sasuke?" she flashed a smile at him while getting out the kettle.
"Hn"
" Are you leaving your shoes on? They look uncomfortable." The concern in his voice was seeping through.
" For now I will, I only wear them on special occasions so I'd like to keep them on for a bit longer."
"Hn."
Why is he not able to use more than a grunt to respond to me?
She brought over their tea and sat down on the couch, inviting him to join her, and he did. She sat there mindlessly staring into her cup dreaming of a reality where her and sasuke were happily in love. She stopped daydreaming and scolded herself saying it would never happen.
Distracting herself with conversation, she started talking "Do you want your welcome home present?"
"You didnt have to get me a present Sakura."
" Well I thought I should. So be quiet and accept it. " She walked over to her closet and grabbed out a black blox with the uchiha insignia on it, and a long, thin black box.
" Here Sasuke, Open this first." She handes him the thin black box. He took it and opend it up revalimg a katana. He unsheathed it and felt its sharpness. In doing do ne noticed an inscription on it, it read " Uchiha Sasuke" with his family crest under it. Tears welled in his eyes.
" I had it made for you, I hope you like it."
He kept running his fingers over the inscription, struggling to hold the tears in his eyes.
"Sasuke did I do something wrong?" Sasuke stood up from the couch and took a step towards sakura, raising his hand to hold her cheek.
"Dont apologize sakura. Its perfect, it looks exactly like my father's."
"Then I think youll like the next gift. Years ago I was sent to go through things at the Uchiha manor. When I did I found something that I think you'll want. "
She handed him the smaller black box and he opened it.
"They were your mothers wedding cuffs. I thought maybe one day you'd like to give them to whomever you marry" She gave him a small smile. And in return he gave her one too, returning his hand to her cheek.
" Arigato, Sakura. " He said through tears. He poked her on the head and sat back down on the couch in his previous spot, sakura sitting next to him as they fell asleep in eachothers embrace.
