Chapter 36: A Mechanical Revolution, Part 1
Previously on Yugioh Legends Unite….
Having teamed up with Emperor Shade and entering the tournament he created on his behalf, Gozaburo Kaiba is now locked in a Duel with his adopted son Seto to settle the score between them, with the lives of a prolific senator and his family on the line as well. But Kaiba finds himself in a bind against Gozaburo's powered up Chessmate Deck, and is currently banking on Card of Demise to get himself a winning hand. Will he be able to get the cards he needs to turn this duel around?
Meanwhile, the Big Five have scattered all over Zenova to locate opponents to gather Link Crystals from, as Shade promised to return them to reality should they win. Gansley was all washed up by Jesse, Crump was put on ice in his match against Leo, and just recently, Shay won a not guilty verdict after defeating Johnson.
With three members down, only two remain, Nezbitt and Leichter. In terms of dueling skills, they are the most dangerous, Leichter himself almost defeating Atem and Joey in Noah's Virtual World. Who will the former Tech Expert and Heir to Gozaburo's fortune target in their quest to escape virtuality? Let's find out!
After Jesse, Leo and Shay defeated Gansley, Crump and Johnson respectively, the three groups reconverged at a singular point and caught their targets up on the current events at hand.
"Wait, seriously?! You guys think this whole tournament is a setup by Shade?" Leo asked.
"We think so, Leo. Shade brought us here from across time to Zenova for a reason, and it wasn't just to duel each other." Yusei said.
"But what could Shade's ulterior motive be for him to arrange this large-scale tournament?" Jaden asked.
"If he's found some of our worst enemies to enter in this tournament to duel us on his behalf, it can't be anything good." Yugi said. "Remember, the one who wins the tournament will be granted any one wish."
"When you think about it, doesn't that sound a little weird?" Luna questioned. "We know Shade put the tournament together, but we don't even know if he has the power to do that."
"He must have if he was able to bring us all together like this. It's too good to be true…" Shay said.
"Shay… did you really enter the tournament just so you could separate Lulu from me?" Zuzu asked the Resistance duelist.
"Wait, you're still hung up on that?" Yuya asked. "I thought when we dueled during Declan's attempt to get Riley to smile, you got over your grief and anger."
"I know, and I have… but how can I pass over a chance to see Lulu again? The things Duel Academy did while Leo Akaba was in charge of the Fusion Dimension…he's responsible for all the destruction caused in the XYZ Dimension. If there's even a chance I can see Lulu again… I have to take it." Shay said.
"You think Shade can actually separate us, Lulu?" Zuzu asked Lulu inside her.
"Knowing him, he'll likely go back on his word." Lulu said.
"I'm with Lulu on that. Even if he has that kind of power, I doubt he'd fulfill a promise like that." Celina agreed.
"Shade's powers aside, we do know that he's bad news. We have to make sure we head into the next round of the tournament with as many of us gathered as possible." Yugi said. "We each need 10 Link Crystals in order to head to the next round. And the more people we have in the resistance, the better our chances to take down Shade if he tries something at the last minute."
"Yeah. More of us in the next round, th' better, right? Even if we gotta duel each other." Jesse said. "So, who hasn't found anyone yet?"
"Hard to say when you have an entire planet to search." Yusei said.
"Axel, Crow and Téa should be searching the eastern side of the planet. But we'd better keep looking ourselves." Yugi said. "There are only two members of the Big Five left, and unfortunately, they're the most skilled of the group. We have to make sure they don't target anybody they know they can easily defeat."
"Yugi's right. We'd better get to it." Jaden said.
Meanwhile, an unlikely pair of Duelists were in a grassy field in the eastern quadrant of Zenova, having only just run into each other by coincidence while on their Duel Boards.
It was George Gore, AKA The Gore, Celebrity Duelist from the VRAINS Era and a trusted Ally of Playmaker. With him was Emma Bessho, AKA Ghost Gal, a talented hacker and treasure hunter who is also from the VRAINS Era.
"What are the odds I'd run into you while I'm racking up wins to make it to the next round of this thing?" Gore asked Ghost Gal. "And before you ask, you're the last person I'd want to run into."
"That's funny. I was just about to say the same thing about you." Ghost Gal said. "By the way, how are the kids these days? Staying out of trouble, I take it?"
"Ah, my little fans at the orphanage. They've been on their best behavior." Gore told her. "Their Dueling skills seem to have improved."
"Speaking of improvements, I've seen you using two different decks lately while here on this planet." Ghost Gal said. "I thought you stopped using those big lizards."
"I did, but there was a part of me that wanted to use them again." Gore said. "I've held on to it in case people prefer to challenge them instead of my Goukis." He then noticed something on the ground below.
"Is it me or has that door always been there?" He asked. Ghost Gal turned downward to see the door.
"I don't remember a door being there." Ghost Gal said. "Maybe we should check it out."
"But we don't even know where it leads." Gore said.
"All the more reason to investigate, Gore." Ghost Gal said as she approached the door. But just as she was about to open it…
"Ghost Gal!"
They hear a voice from above. They look up toward where it came from and saw Kenneth Drayden, Ghost Gal's half-brother in his bounty hunter avatar The Shepherd.
"What are you doing here, Shepherd?" Ghost Gal asked him.
"I was about to ask you the same thing." Shepherd asked him.
"We were just looking for some opponents when we found this strange door that appeared out of nowhere." Gore explained.
"Is that so?" Shepherd asked. "Well, what's stopping you from investigating?"
"You sure? I mean, like Gore said, we don't know where it leads. What if it's a trap?" Ghost Gal asked.
"Better to spring it than leave it alone." Shepherd said as he approached the door. Once he opened it, a bright light filled the area.
Once the light became dim, the trio found themselves in a factory. They saw a lot of weapons and vehicles for battle displayed.
"How'd we end up in a factory?" Ghost Gal asked.
"You got me." Gore said.
"I have a bad feeling about this place…" Shepherd wondered.
"Greetings, humans." A robotic voice spoke as a Robotic Knight appeared from above. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Nezbitt, former Vice President of New Technology at KaibaCorp. I am currently in the virtual form of Robotic Knight, a creature that represents the power of machine over man. As the tech expert of the Big Five, I designed some of KaibaCorp's most advanced machinery." A Duel Disk appears on Nezbitt's left arm. "And as soon as I out-duel one of you, I'll be able to continue my work in the real world. I'll start with… you!" His attention is focused on Gore.
"Bring it!" Gore said, immediately accepting Nezbitt's challenge. Gore had never backed down from a duel in his life, and this was no exception.
"Well, if he's dueling, so am I." Ghost Gal stepped in.
"Hey, you don't need to do this." Gore told her.
"Oh c'mon, you can trust me, can you? Besides, you ever heard of ladies first?" Ghost Gal asked.
Nezbitt looked down, reliving some memories of the three on one duel in Noah's Virtual World. "(This is exactly what happened in the virtual simulator. I took on three duelists and though I was able to best one of them, they still defeated me. I will not make that mistake again.)"
"So, what's it going to be? You going to duel me first, or the musclehead?" Ghost Gal asked.
"Or perhaps you can take me on instead." The Shepherd stepped in.
"Shepherd…" Ghost Gal interjected. "There's no need to get yourself involved."
"It's my duty, not just as a bounty hunter, but as your brother, to keep you safe." The Shepherd told her. "Besides, after the debacle with having the Earth Ignis' data in his brain, his mental state hasn't fully recovered. We better be sure this duel doesn't stress him out."
"Nezbitt, right?" Shepherd spoke to the weapons expert.
"Yes?" Nezbitt asked.
"I believe I have a proposition for you." Shepherd asked. "Ghost Gal and I will be your opponents in this duel. Beat us both, and you'll have two bodies for the price of one."
"Negative, but you have given me a better idea. The duel shall be three against one." Nezbitt suggested.
"You're kidding." Ghost Gal said.
"No. For when I defeat you, we'll gain control of both of your bodies, leaving your minds trapped in Link VRAINS forever!" Nezbitt declared. "When this duel is over, I'll have proven that machines are more powerful than people."
"In his dreams." Ghost Gal said.
"Let's send the guy to the junkyard." Gore nodded to Ghost Gal and Shepherd.
"You took the words out of my mouth." Shepherd said.
"I intend to pull the plug on all three of you. But before we begin, I want to make something clear to you, Gore." Nezbitt said. "You won't be using your signature Gouki deck in this duel."
"You want me to use my Dinowrestlers instead?" Gore asked him.
"Correct. It should serve as a challenge for the both of you, especially considering how Dinowrestlers control the dueling field." Nezbitt told them.
"(I bet he's doing this on purpose. If Gore uses his Dinowrestlers, this guy won't be able to do a lot during the duel, but neither will my Altergeists or Shepherd's Drones. I better play along with whatever he's got planned.)" Ghost Gal thought.
"With the conditions set, let us begin." Nezbitt said. "And just to make things interesting, since we are all dueling in the forms of our Link VRAINS avatars, each of us will have access to our Skills outside of a Speed Duel."
"Fine by me. Now, are we gonna do this or what?" Gore asked as he powered on his Duel Disk.
"Very well. We shall duel using Battle Royal Rules, meaning none of us can attack on our first turns." Nezbitt said. "Now, wager your link crystals."
"I'm throwing down three!" Gore declared.
"And I'll put up two!" Ghost Gal declared.
"Plus four more, for a total of nine." Shepherd declared.
"The wager is set." Nezbitt declared. "Now, let's begin!"
Gore: 4000 LP
Ghost Gal: 4000 LP
The Shepherd: 4000 LP
Nezbitt: 4000 LP
"The female shall begin this battle. Engage!" Nezbitt said.
"Whatever you say." Ghost Gal said sarcastically. Her starting hand contained Altergeist Protocol, Mistake, Altergeist Marionetter, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Magic Planter. "(Only one monster, but it'll do for now.)"
Turn 1: Ghost Gal (4000 LP)
"First, I'll summon Altergeist Marionetter in Attack Mode!" Ghost Gal declared.
Altergeist Marionetter (LV4/1600/1700)
"And when she's summoned, I can set one Altergeist Trap Card on the field directly from my deck." Ghost Gal said, taking said card from her deck and looking at it, which was Altergeist Manifestation, and setting it. "I'll set one other card face down on the field, and pass it over to you, Gore."
"Alright, here goes!" Gore said, drawing a card.
Turn 2: Gore (4000 LP)
Gore had just drew Dinowrestler Capoeiraptor, and in his hand was World Dino Wrestling, Living Fossil, Tyrant Dino Fusion, Dinowrestler Martial Anga, Dinowrestler Capaptera, and Fossil Dig.
"(This is a great hand! If I play it right, not only could I bring out King T Wrextle this turn, but i'll be set up to have Chimera T Wrextle on my next turn.)" Gore thought. "I play the Spell card, Fossil Dig. I choose a Level 6 or lower Dinosaur in my deck and place it in my hand. So Dinowrestler Iguanodraka is coming into my hand. And he'll be jumping into the ring right away, because by discarding one other Dinosaur in my hand, I can summon Iguanodraka!"
The massive dinosaur wrestler was summoned after Gore smartly discarded Dinowrestler Martial Anga.
Dinowrestler Iguanodraka (LV6/2000/0)
"Then I'll summon his tag team partner, Dinowrestler Capaptera." Gore said, using his normal summon this turn.
Dinowrestler Capaptera (LV3/1600/0)
"And now it's time to mash up my circuit! The summoning conditions require 2 Dinowrestlers. I set Capaptera and Iguanodraka in the link arrows!" The link circuit appeared as the two dinos entered the middle left and top center arrows. "I Link Summon! Come on out! Link 2 Dinowrestler Terra Parkourio!"
Dinowrestler Terra Parkourio (Link 2/1000)
"I'm not done yet though. What's a Wrestler without a ring to fight in after all? So I'm playing the Field Spell, World Dino Wrestling!" Gore declared. "And that activates Terra Parkourio's effect! Since I played my Field Spell, I can bring one Dinowrestler in my graveyard back to my hand, and I choose Martial Anga. Now I'll activate Living Fossil! This lets me bring back Capaptera from the grave."
Dinowrestler Capaptera (LV3/1600/0)
"But he won't be out for long! Because together with Terra Parkourio, I'm setting both my Dinowrestlers in the Link Arrows to bring out one of the heaviest hitters in my roster!" The link circuit appeared once again as the two entered it, lighting up the bottom left, bottom center, and bottom right arrows. "I Link Summon! Step into the ring, Link 3 Dinowrestler King T Wrextle!"
King T Wrextle appeared from the circuit and gave a mighty roar, ready for battle.
Dinowrestler King T Wrextle (Link 3/3000)
"Since Terra Parkourio was used for a Link Summon, his effect lets me summon a Dinowrestler from my Graveyard in Defense Mode by negating its effects. So guess who's back for round two." Iguanodraka appeared next to King T Wrextle's link.
Dinowrestler Iguanodraka (LV6/2000/0)
"(I could summon Chimera T Wrextle now, but I got a pretty good field here. Besides, none of us can attack on our first turn. So I'll save this for another round.)" Gore thought, keeping Tyrant Dino Fusion in his hand for a later turn.
"That's all for me. Let's see what you can do, Shepherd." Gore signaled the end of his turn.
Turn 3: The Shepherd (4000 LP)
"I draw!" Shepherd draws his card. His starting hand has Drone Corporal, Drone Selection, Drone Barricade, Limiter Removal, Drone Asteroid, and Battledrone Formation.
"(Not a bad start. I might be able to summon my Battledrone General with this on my next turn.)" Shepherd thought.
"I hear you're into machines. Here's a good one for you. I summon Drone Corporal." Shepherd said as he summons an automated tank.
Drone Corporal (LV4/1600/1200)
"So you are a machine duelist as well. This will be interesting." Nezbitt commented.
"Yes, but unlike you, I don't use mine for warfare. I use them to hunt down criminals like you." Shepherd said. "I place one card face-down and end my turn. Let's see what you can do, Nezbitt."
Turn 4: Nezbitt (4000 LP)
"It's time for me to accelerate into high gear, with this!" Nezbitt draws a card from his deck and sees that it's Machina Soldier. His starting hand included Giga-Tech Wolf, Machina Sniper, System Down, Call of the Haunted, and Machina Resavenger. "(Good. Now, what to do first? Should I press my attack like before and use Final Artillery to chip away at their life points? My strategy last time will all depend on what their methods of countering me are, compared to those three I faced in the Virtual World.)" he thought. "First, I will summon Machina Soldier to the front line."
Machina Soldier (Level 4/1600/1500)
"When Machina Soldier is successfully summoned, I can call one of his Machina allies to join him. So, assisting Machina Soldier from my hand, will be Machina Sniper."
Machina Sniper (Level 4/1800/800)
"And so long as Machina Sniper is on the field, no other Machina monsters can be targeted for attacks except itself." Nezbitt said. "(I could use Resavenger to power up my Sniper enough to take down his King T Wrextle, but I cannot attack at this time. I think I'll prepare my field and then surprise them with Final Artillery later.) I'll end my turn by placing one card face down." Nezbitt finished as he set Call of the Haunted, just in case he needed to revive his monsters.
"(That's odd, why didn't he use his Skill? For every Machine monster he sends to the graveyard, he can slam us for 500 points of damage. He must be trying to fill his field so he can make the most of his Skill. I'd better even things up so he can't bombard us. But thanks to World Dino Wrestling's effect, I'll only be able to attack with one monster in the battle phase. I'd better hope the next card I draw is a good one.)" Ghost Gal thought. "Here goes!"
Turn 5: Ghost Gal (4000 LP)
Ghost Gal's hopes were not in vain, as the card she drew was Altergeist Peritrator. "(Nice!) I summon Altergiest Peritrator in Attack Mode!"
Altergiest Peritrator (Level 1/500/300)
"And now it's time to battle." Ghost Gal said.
"Don't forget, Ghost Gal. World Dino Wrestling can only let you attack once." Gore said.
"Don't worry, I know. And I choose to attack with Peritrator!" Ghost Gal declared
"A futile error. That monster isn't strong enough to destroy my Sniper." Nezbitt said.
"It doesn't have to. Peritator has the power to jump over your front line and attack you directly." Ghost Gal explained.
"What?" Nezbitt gasped.
"You heard me!" Ghost Gal said as Peritrator let Nezbitt have it.
Nezbitt LP 4000 → 3500
"It's only a small bit, but it all counts in the end. Because since Peritrator dealt you damage, I get to draw another card from my deck." Ghost Gal draws one more card, revealed to be Altergeist Multifaker. "(Perfect! Now once I spring my trap, Multifaker will be summoned, and then I get another Altergeist. Once that's done, I'll have everything I need to bring out one of my best monsters.) Now that my Battle Phase is over, I'll create the circuit that links the known with the unknown!" The link circuit appears above her. "The summoning conditions require two Altergeists, which is exactly what I have. I set Marionetter and Peritrator in the link arrows." The two Altergeists enter the circuit, lighting up the bottom center and center right arrows. "I Link Summon! Link 2 Altergeist Hexstia!"
Altergeist Hexstia (Link 2/1500)
"I'll end my turn with another face-down," Ghost Gal said, setting Altergeist Protocol. "Back to you, Gore."
"Thanks!" Gore said, drawing another card.
Turn 6: Gore (4000 LP)
Gore had drawn Dinowrestler Coelasilat. But it's likely he didn't need it considering he already had King T Wrextle. "Let's just cut right to the smackdown! King T Wrextle, attack Machina Sniper! And thanks to World Dino Wrestling, he gets pumped up by 200 extra points."
King T Wrextle ATK: 3000 → 3200
King T Wrextle smashes Machina Sniper with a striking spear. Nezbitt looked shaken, but he kept his ground.
Nezbitt LP: 3500 → 2100
"That's it for me." Gore signaled the end of his turn. "You're up, Shepherd."
"(I may have underestimated these humans. Their teamwork is impressive. Doesn't mean they will win.)" Nezbitt thought.
Turn 7: The Shepherd (4000 LP)
"I draw!" Shepherd said as he drew Drone Repairs, a new Drone card. He might be able to use it to get back whatever Life Points he lost, but for now, it isn't worth it.
"I activate Drone Selection!" He plays a spell that depicts several drones in a hangar about to be selected by a pilot. "This lets me check the top 5 cards in my deck and choose a Drone card from them to add to my hand." The five cards shown were Scud Drone, Drone Carrier, Machine Duplication, Drone Force Tuning, and Assemble Drone. "I choose to add Scud Drone to my hand and put the rest on top of my deck in any order."
"Intriguing… By rearranging the top cards in your deck, you know exactly what to draw next." Nezbitt said.
"That is correct. And don't think you can get rid of my Drone Corporal. It can negate any effect that targets it and prevents it from being targeted by effects for the rest of the turn." The Shepherd said. Nezbitt sneered.
"And since I have a Drone monster in play, I can summon Scud Drone." He summons his Scud Drone next to Corporal.
Scud Drone (LV3/800/1100)
"Now I will use these two Drones to forge my circuit!" The Shepherd conjures the Link portal. "The summoning condition requires two Drone monsters. I set Drone Corporal and Scud Drone in the Link Arrows." The two monsters become energy and enter the up and down arrows. "I Link Summon Link 2 Tacticaldrone Expert!" He summons a jet outfitted with blasters and a radar scope.
Tacticaldrone Expert (L2/1400/↑↓)
"I never saw you use that monster, Shepherd." Ghost Gal said.
"Maybe because it wasn't in my deck until now." Shepherd said. "It pays to use every advantage. Speaking of advantages, I activate Battledrone Formation! For every Link Arrow my Tacticaldrone Expert has, I can summon a Drone Token for each one." Two small copter tokens appear on the field.
Drone Token (LV1/0/0 x2)
"Tacticaldrone Expert has two abilities. First, when a monster is summoned next to its Link, The Shepherd can retrieve Scud Drone from my Graveyard." Shepherd's AI said as Scud Drone returned to the bounty hunter's hand. "Next, when a Drone is summoned, you take 200 points of damage for each of its Levels. Since both tokens are Level 1, you take 200 points of damage for each Token, for a total of 400." Nezbitt gets blasted by Shepherd's Tacticaldrone Expert.
Nezbitt LP 2100 → 1700
"Now I will use these monsters to forge my circuit once more!" The Link Portal opens again. "The summoning condition requires two or more drones. I set one of my Drone Tokens and Tacticaldrone Expert in the Link Arrows!" The two monsters enter the portal, lighting up the left, down, and right arrows. "I Link Summon Link 3 Battledrone General!" The Shepherd summons his most powerful Drone monster.
Battledrone General (L3/2400/←↓→)
"Your monster is impressive, but you will not be able to eliminate my Life Points with that." Nezbitt said.
"Is that so? I think my General's special ability will change your tone. Once a turn, I can summon a Drone from my graveyard next to its Link. Return to the front line, Tacticaldrone Expert." He resummons his drone.
Tacticaldrone Expert (L2/1400/↑↓)
"(Strange. Why did he summon his Link Monster back? Battledrone General's special ability gives a Drone that's Level 4 or lower the power to attack Nezbitt directly, and when it successfully deals damage with a direct attack, he can tribute that Drone to deal damage equal to its original attack points.)" Ghost Gal thought.
"I am impressed that you were able to summon your Link Monster, but I must remind you, thanks to Gore having World Dino Wrestling in play, you're only allowed to attack with one monster each turn." Nezbitt said.
"I'm aware of that, but I didn't summon my drone to attack with it. I activate Tacticaldrone's special ability. By tributing it, I can draw two cards." Shepherd's resummoned Drone vanishes as he draws two cards. The cards are revealed as Drone Carrier and Escape Drone.
"Does not compute. Your AI said your Tacticaldrone Expert only had two abilities." Nezbitt interjected.
"A lie. For someone who admires machines, you sure can be gullible to trust what an AI says." Shepherd smirked from under the mask of his avatar. "And you will pay dearly for that. Battledrone General, attack Machina Soldier!" Shepherd's Battledrone General fires its blasters at Machina Soldier, destroying it.
Nezbitt LP 1700→900
"I place two cards face-down and end my turn. You best make this one count, Nezbitt." Shepherd said as two cards materialized on his field.
Turn 8: Nezbitt (900 LP)
"It is my turn now. I draw." Nezbitt draws a card, revealed as Card of Sanctity. "(Excellent. This'll give me an advantage.)"
"(I know he's just a machine, but something tells me he has something planned.)" Gore thought.
"I place one card face-down and activate Card of Sanctity." Nezbitt declared. "Now each of us will draw until we each hold six cards in our hands." Nezbitt draws four cards, Ghost Gal draws three cards, Shepherd draws three cards, and Gore draws two. The cards Nezbitt draws are Machina Citadel, Draining Shield, Unauthorized Reactivation, and Machina Metalcruncher. Ghost Gal draws Altergeist Malwisp, Altergeist Camouflage, and Twin Twisters. Gore draws Dinowrestler Pankratops and Dinowrestler Valeonyx. Shepherd draws Machine Duplication, Bi-Drone, and Drone Cordon.
"Now that our hands are refreshed, now is the time to initiate my Skill. Activate Final Artillery!" Nezbitt said as he revealed Giga-Tech Wolf, Machina Citadel, and Machina Metalcruncher to his opponents. "For every Machine monster I discard to the Graveyard, you take 500 points of damage. Brace yourself, Gore." Giga-Tech Wolf, Citadel, and Metalcruncher blast Gore before disappearing. Gore took those blasts head-on.
Gore LP: 4000→2500
"It'll take more than that to knock me to the mat." Gore said.
"I beg to differ. Go, Call of the Haunted!" Nezbitt reveals his Trap. "This allows me to revive one monster from my Graveyard in Attack Mode. Rise up, Machina Metalcruncher!" A large machine with a dark orange body appears.
Machina Metalcruncher (LV9/2800/0)
"Not bad. He used his Skill to ditch the tough monsters, then find a way to revive them." Gore commented.
"I now activate Metalcruncher's special ability. I reveal to you three Earth Attribute Machines from my deck, and you choose one random card from them to add to my hand." Nezbitt explains.
"Going for more Machines, I see. Well, it won't work. I play a Trap: Mistake!" Ghost Gal reveals her Trap card. "As long as this card is in play, none of us can add cards from our deck to our hand outside of drawing them."
"Nice! Now metal face can't get more monsters from his deck!" Gore said.
"And it gets better. Since I just used a Trap card, I can summon Altergeist Multifaker from my hand!" Ghost Gal said as Multifaker appeared on her field.
Altergeist Multifaker (Level 3/ATK: 1200/DEF: 800)
"And Multifaker's special ability lets me summon another Altergeist from my deck in Defense Mode. Come on out, Altergeist Meluseek!" Ghost Gal continued as Meluseek appeared beside Multifaker.
Altergeist Meluseek (Level 1/ATK: 500/DEF: 300)
"An impressive tactic. But you should know that your Trap affects you both as well." Nezbitt told them.
"I'm aware of that. But it's worth the price to pay, especially since Hexstia gains Attack points equal to the original Attack points of the Altergeist next to her Links." Ghost Gal said as Hexstia powers up.
Altergeist Hexstia: ATK 1500→2700
"But it will not be enough to defend yourselves from my assault." Nezbitt said as his Battle Phase began.
"No, but this might. I activate King T Wrextle's special ability! Now your Metalcruncher will be forced to attack King T Wrextle." Gore said.
"Awesome! His Metalcruncher is weaker than our monsters!" Ghost Gal said.
"And since King T Wrextle redirects all incoming attacks to him, he'll have no choice but to end his turn, and then King T Wrextle will destroy his monster." Shepherd added.
"Very well. Machina Metalcruncher, attack King T Wrextle!" Nezbitt calls an attack.
"What?!" Ghost Gal gasped.
"He's attacking anyway?!" Gore said in surprise.
"I activate Machina Resavenger's ability. I send this card from my hand to the Graveyard to increase Metalcruncher's Attack points by 1200." Nezbitt said as Resavenger energized his Metalcruncher.
Machina Metalcruncher (ATK 2800→4000)
"Now my monster is more powerful than your monster." Nezbitt said. "Your King T Wrextle is dethroned!" Metalcruncher closes in on King T Wrextle.
"I'm afraid that King T Wrextle will be keeping his crown. I activate the Trap Escape Drone! When you attack while I have a Drone monster on my field, your attack is negated!" Shepherd activates his Trap, which blocks Metalcruncher's attack. "And thanks to its effects, my Drones can't be destroyed in battle, nor do I take any battle damage for the next two turns."
"An impressive tactic, but will be for naught once I place this face-down." Nezbitt places a card face-down. "It is your turn, female."
Turn 9: Ghost Gal (4000 LP)
"I draw." Ghost Gal draws the card Altergeist Pixiel. It doesn't seem like she'll use it any time soon. "(Thanks to Nezbitt, I'll have everything I need to win this.")
"I'll begin by summoning Altergeist Malwisp." Ghost Gal summoned a monster resembling a will-o'-the-wisp.
Altergeist Malwisp (Level 3/1500/0)
"And with her special ability, I can summon Altergeist Marionetter from my Graveyard in Defense Mode." Ghost Gal said as she summons Marionetter from the Graveyard.
Altergeist Marionetter (LV4/1600/1700)
"The only downside is I can't use her abilities, but I wouldn't worry about that, because I'm creating the circuit that links the known with the unknown." She continues as the link portal appears. "The summoning conditions require at least 2 Altergeists. I set Hexstia, Meluseek, and Marionetter in the Link Arrows." The three mentioned monsters enter the circuit, illuminating the left, right, down-left, and down-right arrows. "Manifesting from the edge of nightmares! I Link Summon! Link 4, Altergeist Memorygant!" Her most powerful Altergeist appears, scythe in hand.
Altergeist Memorygant (L4/2800/←↙↘→)
"I am impressed that you were able to summon your Link Monster, but our monsters are equal in strength." Nezbitt told her.
"Not for much longer. Memorygant can tribute another monster and gain Attack Points equal to that monster's Attack Points." Ghost Gal said.
"What?!" Nezbitt gasped.
"And there's more where that came from, rust breath! Since Meluseek was used to Link Summon, I can add Altergeist Kunquery from my deck to my hand." The card is added to her hand. "And if you think that was all I could do, you're mistaken. Watch this!" Ghost Gal continued as the area darkened and Malwisp and Multifaker turned into energy rings. "Level 3 Malwisp tunes Level 3 Multifaker!" The rings combine and form six blue rings. "Legendary spirits awake! Rise from the eternal slumber to break the barrier! I Synchro Summon! Enter this existence, Altergeist Dragvirion!" A draconian creature appears beside Altergeist Memorygant.

"A Synchro Monster?!" Nezbitt gasped.
"That's right. And I am aware that Gore's Field Spell only permits us to attack with only one monster since he has King T Wrextle in play." Ghost Gal said. "I activate Memorygant's special ability. By tributing Dragvirion, she gains Attack Points equal to Dragvirion's Attack Points." Dragvirion disappears as Memorygant is energized.

"And when Dragvirion is tributed, her ability lets me summon it back." Ghost Gal continues as her Synchro Monster returns.

"Now to bring home the win. Altergeist Memorygant, attack Machina Metalcruncher and end this!" Ghost Gal commanded Memorygant to attack. "Eternal Nightmare!"
Memorygant raised its scythe as it approached Metalcruncher. "If this attack lands, the mechanical revolution will end once and for all." The Shepherd said.
"I am afraid that your victory over machines is cut short. I activate my Trap card, Draining Shield!" Nezbitt activates his Trap card. "This stops your attack." A barrier blocks Memorygant's attack. "And as a bonus, I gain Life Points equal to Altergeist Memorygant's attack points." He is refreshed by the trap's effect.

"Drat! He planned for that." Gore seethed.
"Not to worry. Thanks to Mistake, he can't add any more monsters to hand for his Skill." Ghost Gal told him. "Let's see what you can do, Gore." She signals the end of her turn.
"Sure thing." Gore said. "(I hope my next card can give him the three-count, because if I don't get it, my Life Points and my mind will be wiped off the map!")
