Chapter 2: Peak of Chance.

The next day, as the sun was setting, Dash and Violet were walking down the street, thinking about everything that could be, when they suddenly heard someone in trouble.

"Help!" shouted a woman. They looked and saw she was in the window of a burning building.

"Violet! We gotta help her!" Dash said.

"Are you crazy?! We should let the firefighters help her!" Violet said.

"But, with the fire the way it is, they might not get to her." Dash said before he rushed off and came back with two winter caps with holes cut in them.

"If Mom won't let me use my powers for sports, then I'll just use them for this instead. Besides, no one will know it's us." Dash said as he put one on and ran in the back door. Violet sighed in exasperation before she slipped hers on and followed him. They ran throughout the burning building encased in Violet's force field, bringing in any people who couldn't escape, including the woman they saw in the window. But, this proved to be the easy part, because the entrance they came in through was blocked off by a falling beam. This left them scrambling to find a way out before the building fell.

"Is that everybody?!" Dash asked.

"Yeah, that's everyone!" Violet said.

"Well, how do we get out?!" Dash asked.

"I don't know! You're the idiot who rushed in here!" Violet said.

"Well, you're the smart one of us! Can't you break through a wall with your force field?!" Dash asked.

"I can't just smash through walls! The building's getting weaker by the second! It could fall on top of us!" Violet said.

The two of them were just about to panic when they saw a weak wall.

"Okay, everyone, stay right behind me! This is gonna be a close one!" Violet said before they all rushed towards it and she used a force field like a battering ram to break the wall, which everyone made it through before the building collapsed. However, once Dash stood up, he noticed jewelry cases before he stepped in the path of what looked like a flashlight. It caused the lights in a jewelry store to cut on before an alarm sounded.

"Oh, well, that's just great!" Violet said sarcastically.

Police were gathering outside the store.

"We look like bad guys! Incompetent bad guys!" Violet yelled.

"Can you quit being timid for ten minutes?!" Dash yelled.

"FREEZE!" said a cop, busting in with a pair of handcuffs.

The two froze and raised their hands before Dash spied an exit behind them. He whispered something to Violet and started talking to the officer.

"You've got it all wrong, officer. We were just looking for a present for our mom and we didn't want her to recognize us." Dash said.

"If that's so, how come you broke in through the wall?" the officer asked.

"Well, we saw those people in trouble and we thought to help them. The wall looked weak so we broke through since all other exits were blocked." Dash said, both of them preparing to put their plan into action.

"Even so, you know we can't necessarily allow vigilantes out around here." the cop said before the handcuffs suddenly flew apart, Violet having quickly burst a force field in the chain. The cop fell down and Dash and Violet ran out the back door and removed their masks.

"That was way too close." Violet said.

"Yeah, but you gotta admit, that time was awesome." Dash said.

"That time? Dash, have you been doing vigilante work?!" Violet asked.

"Yeah." Dash said.

"If we have to move again because of you…" Violet said.

"Calm down, sis. It's fine." Dash said before they headed home, unaware of a woman in a car watching them, having seen their activities by using an X-Ray scope.

"Verify you want to switch targets, over?" asked a voice.

"Trust me, these are the ones he's been looking for." the woman said.
