Finally Belonging Somewhere – Part 121:
Aurora had practically run to the beach and she looked out over the sea in awe of it. The sea was something that she'd never seen truly before and she couldn't wait to see what it was like.
"The best part is you don't have to worry about anyone coming and disturbing us because this beach is all ours," Narcissa said as she looked at her daughter and smiled.
"This is all ours?" Aurora asked, wanting to make sure that she'd heard her mother's words correctly, "but this is such a big beach… surely it cannot be all ours," she said.
"It is all ours and it is tied to the vineyard and our history," Lucius said as he looked at his daughter. "So you can come down here whenever you want as the whole land is protected by the wards that protect the Manor."
Aurora nodded as she sat down on the blanket that Meredith lad laid out before picking up her book and began to read. Draco had headed out to the water and Lucius, Narcissa and Meredith began to discuss random topics that they wanted to.
Eventually Aurora decided she'd had enough of reading and ventured towards the sea and dipped her toe in the water. She squealed as it was cold on her toe but she kept dipping her toe in until it didn't feel cold any more. She took a few steps into the water and allowed the waves to softly hit her ankles. She giggled as she felt the waves and smiled watching Draco out in the sea swimming.
He soon looked up and saw his sister stood there and she was just about in the water.
"How is the sea?" he asked.
"Cold," came the reply. "But it's not so cold now I'm used to it," she said. "I'd like to go out further but I am really not sure that is a good idea. I can swim but I don't think it's well enough for the sea..." she said as she bit her lip.
"Well lets get your dress off then and see how far we can get you in before you have had had enough and decide that you wish to go no further," Draco said and Aurora nodded before taking her dress off and followed Draco out into the sea. She really did want to try and get out om the sea but she wasn't so sure at the same time.
Draco held his sister's hands as they walked slowly put into the sea and Aurora squealed as a wave hit her gently. She stopped and looked at Draco and, after some reassurance, she began to walk out some more until the water was just under her chest.
"I want to stop here Draco," she said and Draco turned and nodded as he could see that they were a decent way away from the shoreline. He stepped back and watched as Aurora began to try and swim. It was the first time in a while that she'd attempted to swim bit she soon settled down and swam around the area.
"You do what you need to do and I'll be close by and I'm sure someone will come and see us soon," Draco said and Aurora nodded before she began to swim and splash around. So far the sea was behaving itself, much to Draco's pleasure as it meant his sister would stay out there with him.
Eventually someone did come and join them. Meredith had been watching from the shoreline and was now fed up with being sat with Lucius and Narcissa so she headed out to see her niece and nephew in the water.
"You got fed up of sitting with Mother and Father then," Draco said with a smirk as he looked at his aunt who had stopped by Aurora's side.
"Well yes I did and the two are in a conversation so I decided to come and see what you two were doing out here," Meredith said as she looked at her nephew. "So you can wipe that smirk off your face Draco Malfoy."
"Sorry Meredith," Draco said before he went off to practice his swimming.
"I'm a starfish!" Aurora giggled as she floated on top of the water just like a starfish, causing Meredith to laugh.
"You are indeed 'Rora," she said as she watched her niece. "Now I need to make sure that you are not floating away from us all or you'll get a fright." She grabbed an ankle and turned Aurora so she was floating closer to the land and she smiled before looking to see Draco was OK and Lucius and Narcissa were still talking on the beach.
The afternoon at the beach was pleasant and the group headed back to the cottage to get ready for their dinner. Those that had been in the sea washed and dressed themselves for the dinner. It wasn't going to be a formal occasion but they all seemed to want to get dressed up for it.
Narcissa has set the table and everyone was soon seated. Aurora had her favourite food combination at that moment in time and everyone began to talk about their plans for the few days before people were to join them… namely Draco and Aurora's friends.
"I want to show Charlotte and Ellie the pool and the beach!" Aurora said, "and maybe we can stay in the pool awhile," she said. "We can take them to the town as well. There are so many things I want to show them!"
Narcissa was making a mental note as the group were talking about what they wanted to show the family friends when Priscilla arrived. The mood instantly changed.
"I'm sorry to come unannounced but I need to speak with you all. Draco, I think Aurora should see the vines up close and learn how they grow," Priscilla said and Draco had been about to answer but the look Priscilla gave him made him think twice. He took Aurora out of the cottage and down to look at the Vineyard.
"First of all, I am safe to be here. Luckily, I hadn't gone to see Abraxas yet," Priscilla said.
"Mother…?" Meredith asked. "What has happened to Father?"
"He has been ill for a few days as you know. Well… the reason for that has become clear," Priscilla spoke as she looked at her children. "Your Father has Dragon Pox and he will die within the year…"
