I've decided to post short stories that were written by my friend that I commissioned with his approval. He's known as Zexo87 here and Zexoguy on Deviantart where these stories can also be found. I gave him the basic outline of each the stories and he put it all into writing.
He wrote these first two entries and I might add some that I write myself some time. There were many things that weren't shown on The Owl House that we wish had been. But at least we can come up with our own interpretations on how they happened.
For this first one, there were two certain characters who weren't shown officially establishing the friendship between them so this is my take on it.
It was early morning in the Noceda household, which was currently serving as the temporary home of four lost young teenagers from another realm. The sun was barely up, but sitting alone at the kitchen table with a cup of hot tea in her hands was a young witchling with purple dyed hair, Amity Blight. She was not usually awake this early, but she had a lot on her mind and had been unable to sleep, so she figured she might as well come downstairs and make some tea.
She was not alone for long, however, as one of her friends soon entered the kitchen as well. A blond boy with a scarred face and a missing tooth named Hunter. When he walked in, he was surprised to see Amity already there. "Oh, uh... hi, Amity. I... didn't expect to see you here," he said awkwardly.
"Yeah. I woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep," Amity explained. "What about you?"
"Pretty much the same," Hunter replied, sitting down across from her.
Truth be told, Hunter still felt a little bit awkward around Amity because of their history. Even after all the time they'd spent together lately, they had never really taken the time to clear the air between them. But in that moment, he figured that now was as good a time as any.
"Look, Amity, I uh... I wanted to say that I'm... sorry for starting our fight. Back at Eclipse Lake," he began. "You were trying to help me and when I saw that key around your neck, I just... lost it."
Amity could sense the regret and panic building on the boy's face and decided to place her hand on his. "It's okay," she said, trying to calm him down. "That was in the past and you've helped us out so many times since then. Willow and Gus told me about how you helped them get their flier derby team approved and saved them from the Emperor's Coven."
"But it was my fault that they got captured in the first place," he remarked.
"The point is that they forgave you. We all did. You helped us drive Head Witch Graye and his scouts out of Hexside," she reminded him. "And best of all, you helped Luz escape from Belos's mind." Hunter perked up upon her mentioning that particular incident. "I know that really meant a lot to her. And it means a lot to me, too."
Suddenly, Amity started to look a bit crestfallen herself. "Believe me, I've done some things that I'm not proud of either," she admitted. "But one thing I've learned is that your past doesn't have to define you. As long as you prove that you're willing to change for the better, you'll find forgiveness."
"So you're saying you forgive me?" Hunter asked.
"Of course. We're friends now."
Hunter finally cracked a smile of his own. "Thanks, Amity," he said. "You know, you were right when you said I'd find people who wouldn't make feel worthless, like Luz and Gus... and Willow."
Amity noticed how his face turned slightly red when he mentioned the young plant witch's name. "You really like Willow, don't you?" she remarked with a grin.
"Huh?! W-What... what are you talking about?" Hunter asked nervously, his face still blushing hard.
"I've seen the way you look at her. I used to be the exact same way with Luz before we got together. After we get home, I think you'd have a really good chance with her."
Hunter thought hard about Amity's words. "You, uh... you really think so?"
Amity simply nodded with a smile, which led Hunter to smile again. Amity even stood up and gave her friend a big hug, which, after getting over the initial surprise, he gladly returned.
Much later, after Belos was finally gone for good and the Boiling Isles were free from his tyranny, there was a big celebration held in Bonesborough with fireworks, music and dancing. Hunter had finally worked up the nerve to ask Willow out on a date, which she happily accepted. The two teens were dancing together in the town square and having a wonderful time, when Hunter suddenly met eyes with Amity, who was dancing with Luz. The two friends smiled at each other, knowing that they were both right where they belonged.
