Summary: Marvel Cinematic University or MCU. MCU had it all. The looks. The status. The cliques: Wakanda and Talokan.
A/N: Inspired by the pics of them glaring that I saw via a twitter post. Then I remembered Mabel's outfit for Comic Con and Alex. I've always wanted a high school or college au so...I wrote it.

Marvel Cinematic University or MCU. MCU wasn't like any other college. It was the best. Top of the list and top notch. Everyone wanted to get in. Everyone wanted to go. A place where even just saying that you attended was a show of high status.
Like every typical college, every typical college, you had your groups. You had your cliques. You had your sectors. Your tribes. Your packs. Your gangs. Whatever you wanted to call them. The nerds. The jocks . The loners. The goths. The populars. The bullies. They all attended MCU.
With all these different personality types, you can imagine all the conflict. Not everyone was going to get along. Despite Marvel University's high status, there was always a struggle to keep the peace when it came to students.
There were two main cliques in the college. Wakanda and Talokan. The head of the Wakanda clique was Shuri. "Princess" was her nickname. There was a lot of rumors as to how she and everyone around her in her clique got into the college. For she was the daughter of some powerful and rich parents. Not to mention her brother was as equally as prestigious, powerful and rich as they were.
The head of Talokan clique. There was also rumor and speculation on how he and his clique got in. Rumor had it that he got in due to "old money". As in maybe someone knew somebody and that person knew somebody and that person knew somebody and it went way back. Like grandfathers of grandfathers of grandfathers knowing one another. There was just something old, ancient. Old wealth.
These were the two dominating forces of the college. Each group kept to themselves. Many of the other students stayed away from them because to them, those two main groups, they figured they were too good for everyone else. So everyone just kept their distance from them all. Only engaging if they really had to and let me tell you, they never really had to.
The enforcers. Or as others like to describe them, the athletics. The enforcer of team Wakanda was M'Baku who was nicknamed The Gorilla. He was a massive man. As you would guess, his sport of choice was football. On the football field, M'Baku was like a brick wall. Anyone who ran into him was knocked on their ass. Players would just move out of his way, much to the dismay of the coaches. He was a shining star of the team. He was a brick wall and fast. "Thunder Thighs" someone once joked. Ever since then, it's not uncommon to see M'Baku in shorts showing off those thighs that could easily smash fruit in between them.
The enforcer of Talokan was Attuma. The nickname many in the college gave him was The Hammerhead. He was a massive guy, deadly and fearful, much like a hammerhead shark. He was quiet, docile but much like a hammerhead, you fuck around, you find out. Don't poke the bear as the saying goes. As massive as he was, he didn't play sports. Body of a Jock, Attitude of a Goth one would say. He preferred the color black. Black clothes. Black shores. Even his nails were black.
Next in line in the hierarchy were The Bodyguards. Or at least, that's what the students jokingly called them. Team Wakanda had Okoye. Slim, slender, elegant, sexy and deadly Okoye.
On the Talokan side, their bodyguard enforcer was an equally sexy female warrior with the name of Namora.
To many at the college, those women, including Shuri were out of everyone's league. The fact that none of them dated solidified that that thought with the student body. For apparently no one was good enough for them.
Again, this was all in the students heads. Because of their perceptions, many of either clique were approached let alone asked out. Something that didn't go unnoticed by Shuri. She figured everyone hated her. To a degree, that was just fine because it allowed her to concentrate on her studies that much more.
If the students had taken a time to approach and talk to anyone from either group, they would see, they would learn that they are approachable and hospitable, kind and friendly like any other person who went there.
Correction. Maybe…
Namor seemed to hate everyone. He didn't want to make chitchat with any of the students. He just wanted to do what he had to do so that he can graduate and get out of that place. He would often call them "surface dwellers" to separate himself from all of them. To he, we wasn't like them. He wasn't like anyone there. No one knew of struggles. No one could relate. All so privileged. To him, he didn't know that place anything. He had no love for it or anyone there that wasn't Talokan.
As a young child he would often get bullied in school settings. Each grade. Each level. It didn't matter. Therefore he could not stand being around or in such a setting. That is why he surrounded himself with warriors, protectors, family.
That's how each group was to one another, family. They were like family. They were close to one another like family. Protected one another like family. Practically inseparable. The main cliques of MCU, Wakanda and Talokan.
As you can imagine, each group sat with one another at lunch, avoiding other groups. They would often walk in groups with one another. They shared many of the same classes. If there was one, there was always another. Never seemingly traveling alone.
One of Shuri's favorite classes was science. This state of the art class utilized artificial intelligence named Griot. It had innovative technology courtesy of Stark Industries. If anyone doubted Shuri's existence in that college and how she got there, it all faded away when they saw her in the lab and saw her at work. She was a brilliant mind. Her GPA And test scores could attest of that. She knew more and excelled when it came to the sciences.
Namor on the other hand could not be more bored. He would often sit in the back of a lab class at a station and just sulk. If he was not sulking he was asleep. That is if he was even there in the class at all. Sometimes he just skipped it all together.
To him it was a waste of time. The thing about Marvel University is that if one doesn't keep their grades up, they will get kicked out. Namor was seemingly untouchable despite his failing grades. Especially in science. It was as if he could fly away from any sort of trouble when it came to his grades, studies, tests and everything else.
Today the lab was working on isolating mutations in DNA. What is the cause of certain mutations? How can they be enhanced? How can they be prevented? What latent genes carry certain mutations? The professor wanted the students to divide up in to pairs and analyze DNA helix via holograms that projected like pillars at each of the stations.
The students cheerfully broke off and picked their best friends and people that they knew to be their lab partners. Laughter and amused chatter could be heard in the room. Shuri sat at her station alone. She would rather work alone anyway. She could get everything done faster if by herself and that's how she preferred. That's what she told herself anyway.
"Ms Shuri?" The Professor spoke. "I see you have not picked a lab partner. What a coincidence. Namor doesn't have a lab partner either. So you two will join together and be partners for this assignment. Congratulations. Now get started."
She looked behind towards the back and grimaced. The last thing she wanted to do is work with someone. Even if she had to work with someone, the last person she wanted to work with was him. Mr Loner. Mr Lonewolf. Mr too good for anybody.
It didn't matter if he was hot. She thought he was hot but she didn't really give it much thought. She didn't give much thought to the boys there anyway. If none of them were interested in her and couldn't be bothered to ask her out, at least once, why even entertain them? So she didn't. She didn't give them any thought.
Namor looked up from the sketch pad he was doodling in and gave Shuri a look. This was his nightmare. Why. Why her of all people? Ms goody two shoe. Ms perfect GPA. Ms too good for anybody. Why her?
He rolled his eyes and looked back down to his sketchpad.
This whole thing was a waste of time.
CHAPTER END
A/N: Preppy school is preppy. Any excuse to have them in badass suit looking uniforms. I blame Tenoch who looks so good in a suit.
Rivals to lovers. Darcy and Liz. I plan to write more. Getting it on under the bleachers. Namor and Attuma being the only ones with balls to ask out the girls and the girls saying yes just because they are impressed by that alone. Shuri just going along, not expecting Namor to be so charming. Okoye and Attuma bonding over something athletic. Namor seriously needing a TUTOR! Hint Hint sexytimes.
So much can happen in school AUs. I love these things.
I emailed this site back when the movie came out trying to get BP Wakanda Forever it's own category and characters (Namor, Namora, etc) but they never added it. Please email the site. Maybe you will have better success. Thanks
