Chapter 1. Touring the ship
Out in an unknown area of Space
A big but sleek looking ship was floating in the dark starry void that is space. Its color scheme was black, white, and blue.
On both sides of the hull were words that said NORMANDY while on the wings were the letters that said SR3. Near the front of the ship cannons could be seen as well as on the wings.
The inside of the ship looked empty. Completely devoid of life. Except in the Captain's Quarters.
Lying in bed was a man with a buzz cut haircut and a buzz cut shave. He had tan skin and a muscular build. When his eyes began to open they showed that they were blue.
This man was Commander John Shepard. Hero of Elysium, Captain of the Normandy, the first Human Spectre, Savior of the Citadel, destroyer of the Collectors, and the hero of the Reaper War.
Getting out of bed John looked around and noticed that he was on board the his ship. Feeling confused he said to himself "I don't understand. How am I still alive? I thought I died when I jumped into the beam of the Crucible."
It was then he heard his personal computer was beeping. A bit wary the Commander went over and answered it.
It was then a hologram appeared. Upon looking at it Shepard realized it was the Catalyst. The childlike construct looked exactly how he saw him. Except instead of being bluish white he was neon green.
"Hello Shepard. No doubt you have awoken from your slumber and are wondering why are you still alive. And how are you onboard the Normandy." the Catalyst said.
John listened closely as the Catalyst continued "To answer all of your questions: when you jumped into the beam your energy did create Synthesize. The new dna we spoke for not only your race but that of the other races. This broke the cycle for good. And the Reaper's have been helping rebuild what was destroyed."
John couldn't help but be happy to know that his sacrifice did end the cycle for good. Humanity and the other races could finally live their lives free from the threat of the Reapers.
But the Catalyst wasn't finished. "But you should know that the reason why you are now alive is because I reconstructed your body and built you a new ship. You will also note that all the weapons you've used during many of your adventures are also onboard your new ship along with all the armor you have worn."
This news shocked the Commander. The Catalyst rebuilt him and gave him a new ship? While John wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth one word came to mind: why?
"The reason for why I brought you back is because you deserve another chance at life. You have sacrificed so much for so many other's that it wasn't fair that you didn't get the right to live." the Catalyst said before continuing "Unfortunately I couldn't bring you back to life in our universe."
John was once again shocked by what he heard. "What does he mean 'our universe'?"
"To clarify Shepard our universe is one an infinite number of universes. There are two types of universes: alternate and parallel. For example: in alternate universes neither you nor all the races in the Milky Way galaxy exist. In parallel universes you do exist but you could be born as a woman instead of a man. The same can be said for your friends."
"Right now you are in a universe that falls in the first category. In that universe humanity does exist. As for the aliens; it is best you find out for yourself." the Catalyst said.
John felt his eyebrow twitch at that. For some reason he can tell the Catalyst was no doubt messing with him.
The Catalyst then said I know you would love nothing more than to see your friends again but you have been gone for a very long time and most of your crew have passed on. And even if they were still alive do you think your race and the other races would not react like you were a the son of your God?"
As much as he hates to admit but the Catalyst was right. There was no way he was gonna be put on some pedestal and treated like the Messiah. He was a believer of God just as much as his form Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams.
Just thinking of his old friend made him miss not just her but the entire Normandy crew. Kaiden Alenko, Garrus Vakarian, Tali'Zorah, Liara T'soni, Urdnot Wrex, Jeff 'Joker' Moreau, Doctor Karin Chakwas, Miranda Lawson, Jacob Taylor, Jack, Samara, Urdnot Grunt, EDI, Kelly Chambers, Samantha Traynor, James Vega, Javik, Kenneth Donnelly, Gabriela Daniels, Greg Adams, Steve Cortez, Steve Cortez, and Diana Allers.
He also missed those who died during the war. Mordin Solus, Thane Krios, Legion, and his former mentor and friend Admiral David Anderson.
He then heard the Catalyst say "As I said before I reconstructed your body as it was before. But I added a few altercations that you might like. Even your armor and weapons have better upgrades than before. But again it is best you see for yourself. The same for your new ship."
The Catalyst then said with a genuine smile "Goodbye Commander John Shepard. And most importantly good luck in your new life. We will not meet again. But should we do I hope it is as allies if not friends."
And with that the message turned off. John just sat there. Trying to process what he just learned. He knew he sacrificed himself to stop the Reapers but being brought back to life again and in another universe? As James would say that is completely loco.
Seeing his bathroom he went in and looked at himself in the mirror. He looked the same as he did last time. Minus the injuries given to him by Sovereign.
Picking up his razor he gave himself a tiny cut on his cheek. As he has taken far worser injuries, a tiny cut on his cheek was hardly something he would react to.
But what happened next surprised him. His tiny cut started to heal itself. The tiny drop of blood just reverse flowed back into his cheek. The cut healed up nicely. Not even a scar was left behind.
'I'm gonna have to go to the medical bay to do an examination on myself.' Shepard said going over to his closet and putting on some clothes.
He noticed he still had his old clothes from when he worked with Cerberus minus the logo. Something he was grateful for as he would purchase other clothes so he would never wear anything with that wretched terrorist organization's logo printed on it. He was even glad the Alliance got rid of the Cerberus logo and replaced with the Alliance logo.
Once dressed he went to the elevator but upon going inside he noticed that there were six floors instead of five.
Deciding to check that extra floor out later Shepard pressed the number 3 for the Mess hall. Which is where the medical bay was located.
He also noticed the elevator was a little faster. Which was a good thing as he could get to the Hanger bay a lot more quicker.
Once he arrived he saw the memorial wall with all the names of those who died before and during the war. He even noticed the name of Admiral David Anderson was on the wall. With a heavy heart Shepard went over and paid his respects for his fallen brothers and sisters.
After half an hour, he went to the Medical bay and upon entering he noticed that it was both different and the same. He noticed two machines that looked like the one he used to stop the Geth fighters from attacking the Quarian fleet.
Going over to the two machines he examined them both. He then asked himself "What in the world are these for?"
"I can answer that sir." a voice said startling the Commander.
Getting into a defensive position while activating his military grade omni-tool he looked around for where the voice came from. He demanded "Come out. Show yourself."
"Oh forgive me sir. I didn't mean to frighten you." the voice said apologetically before a glowing sphere made itself known.
Relaxing a bit but keeping his guard up John asked warily "Who are you?"
"Oh where are my manners? My name is Sentry. I am the Normandy SR3's artificial intelligence. Like my predecessor EDI was for the SR2." the a.i. Sentry said in greeting.
Coming out of his combat stance and deactivating his omni-tool John the said "I'm gonna take a guess and say the Catalyst created you to be my traveling companion."
"Oh indeed sir. I was created with all the skills and capabilities of your crews best engineer's. Tali'Zorah, EDI, Adams, Gabriela, and Kenneth. I also have the same level of medical training as doctors Mordin Solus and Karin Chakwas. And the weapons training of all the Normandy crew. Minus the Biotic members. I can also fly the ship easily as your former Flight Lieutenant Jeff Moreau." Sentry listed off.
Shepard was stunned but nonetheless impressed. Glad to know he has someone who can help maintain his new ship. And provide medical aide when he could not.
"Well it's nice to meet you Sentry." Shepard said before turning his back to the two machines "Now could you tell me what are these machines for? They look like what it used to stop the Geth fighters."
Sentry then explained "Indeed sir. The first pod is called the Regen-pod, which is short for regeneration."
Upon hearing this Shepard turned to Sentry with wide eyes and asked "Excuse me?"
"As its name suggests, anyone placed in this pod will go through a healing process that will the person regrow any lost limbs, repair damaged, and heal/regrow any internal organs. It can also regrow ones lost head and regenerate ones brain." Sentry explains making the Commander look at the machine in wonder. This thing would be like a crowning achievement the name of science and medicine.
'Mordin, Chakwas, and every scientist would be going over the moon just to gaze upon this beautiful masterpiece.' Shepard thought as this would no doubt save a lot of lives. And he had it onboard his ship.
After processing what he was told, he then turned to the other pod and asked "Ok, thanks for that Sentry. Now could you tell me what does this other one do?"
Sentry then explained "This other one is called the Learning Pod. As it's name suggests it can upload information into the human brain at a rapid but safe pace. Anything you want to learn this pod will help. History, math, reading, writing, science, cooking: you name it. You can also learn how to fly the ship like a pilot, how to repair machinery like an engineer, how to provide medical aide a medic, and learn a new fighting style.
Once again Shepard was floor by the possibilities of this second wonderful piece of machinery. Granted he's always been good with machines like his friend Tali. Especially since he's an engineer.
A lot of parents would no doubt want at least of these for their kids. But then again it would put a lot of teachers out of their jobs.
Shepard then turned to Sentry and said "Ok thanks for the info. Now can you tell me more about the ship? Namely the extra floor."
"Most certainly Commander. The ship is a blend of when Cerberus rebuilt it and when the Alliance added the retrofits. The conference room is where it was before the destruction of the Collectors and the war room is in the same location."
"The sixth floor is where the hangar bay and armory is located, the fifth floor is the engine room and storage, the third and second floors are the same but with extra living quarters, your own personal quarters is the same as you've already seen, and as for the fourth floor that area shall serve as the science floor where you can create any gadgets that could prove useful. And there also happens to be an orchard there." Sentry explained.
That last one caught Shepards attention. He asked "Why is there an orchard on this ship?"
"Why to grow food of course. It'll help a long way as it would be much cheaper than buying food. Namely fruits and vegetables. Meat, beverages, seasonings, eating utensils, cooking utensils, pots, pans, cups, bowls, and plates on the other hand are things you will want to buy."
"Also you should know that you have an infinite supply of medigel. Since we are in another universe there is no way for us to restock. At by the usual means. Same can be said for your ammunition's." Sentry explained to which Shepard understood. Since he was in another universe it stands to reason to understand that the Catalyst would give him a means to use his weapons.
"Also all of your armor now have jump jets. These will be useful for traversal means. They also make you more strong enough to match a Krogan in terms of brute strength. You also move a whole lot more faster when running. Though not all the way to another continent but enough to catch up to a car while on foot. Your shield can withstand kinetic and energy projectiles. At least during the 2000th century. But I wouldn't risk testing if it could withstand larger energy blasts. They can also handle intense weather conditions. From scorching deserts, frozen tundras, and hazardous areas."
"All of your helmets have different features: night vision, infrared, x-ray, telescopic vision, and microscopic vision. And your N7 helmet can deploy its rebreather. Not only to protect your face but it can also allow you to breathe in space, underwater, and can block out airborne hazards."
"The utility belt will allow you to carry extra ammunition and medical supplies in the field than when you did in your universe." Sentry finished explaining with Shepard listening to every word. He was glad that none of these improvements existed back in his universe. Or else Cerberus would've definitely used this kind of tech for God knows what.
"Ok thanks for that Sentry. Now there is just one more thing I want to know. Namely about my body." Shepard said.
Sentry then answered "But of course sir. To start you have a healing factor. Which not only can help you recover from any injury. No matter how grave but you'll also have a high immune system. If you were bitten by the most poisonous creature you can think of you wouldn't be the least bit affected. You can also drink thirty barrels of beer and you wouldn't be affected. Your stamina has also increased. You can continue fighting for up to two weeks at best. Three of you push yourself. Your bone marrow is much more denser. Making it impossible for them to break. Your normal strength has also increased. But it can be augmented only while you are wearing your armor. Your reflexes are top notch." Sentry informed making Shepard widen his eyes in further shock.
'Oh my god I'm a freaking super soldier!' Shepard thought trying to process what he heard.
However what Sentry said next would've made him do a spit take if he was drinking anything.
"Also Commander you have the capabilities of all the soldier classes from your universe." Sentry said drawing the Commander out of his thoughts.
A few minutes later John then asked "I'm sorry but did you say I have the capabilities of every soldier class in the Alliance?"
"Why yes Commander. The physical prowess and weapons training of a Soldier, the stealth training of an Infiltrator, and all the biotic powers of a Vanguard, Adept, and Sentinel. Plus the power armor. In other words sir you are in the first human to have all of the classes at your disposal." Sentry said not knowing the Commander came to that conclusion a few minutes earlier.
Shepard just stood there completely flabbergasted by what he heard. He's always put a lot of training into his Engineering capabilities. But now he can use the other five.
Taking a deep breath Shepard then said "Ok is there else I need to know?"
"Oh yes the vehicles you've used in your universe are also here. They're a lot more stronger than before. Also I forgot to mention that the Normandy and the vehicles have cloaking abilities like your friend Kasumi Goto." Sentry said before continuing "The Normandy's weapons are much more powerful than the second. The shields and armor are even more stronger. And lastly you don't have to worry about needing to refuel as this ship was built with a power source that can have it function without the fuel in your universe. And you can travel at FTL a lot faster than with a relay."
The Spectre took a moment to finally process everything he heard. A new universe, a new ship, better technology, all the soldier class abilities at his disposal, a new body, better armor and weapons, and a new body.
'The others would go crazy if they were here.' Shepard thought until he then asked "Is that all Sentry?"
"Oh there is just one more thing. All of the resources you've acquired during your hunt for Saren and during your preparation for the final fight against the Collectors are in the cargo hold. Along with some omni-tools. If you choose to settle down in this universe I would suggest selling them for money."
Upon hearing that John knew that Sentry made a good point. Selling these off would help get him some enough money to give him a jump start.
But he wasn't gonna sell anything involving weapons and armor. No way was he gonna risk Earth looking like Tuchanka.
"If that is all I say we get underway." Shepard said but the a.i. was quiet for some reason.
"Sentry?"
Sentry then responded "Forgive me sir but I'm receiving a message. An SOS most likely."
That caught Shepards attention. He then asked "Can you play it?"
"Yes Commander. One moment." Sentry said before bringing the message through.
'To any Autobots in this sector! This is Ironhide! Decepticon's have me pinned down! I'm in need of backup!' the message said with explosions coming in from the background.
Shepard's face then said "Sentry locate where that call came from and get us there. I'm heading down to hangar and suiting up."
"Understood Commander." Sentry said while Shepard went to get ready for his rescue mission.
'Time to put this new body of mine to the test.' John thought getting into elevator. He then turned to the memorial and said "Wish me luck guys."
Unknown to Shepard, the spirits of his departed comrades and mentor all stood at attention and gave him a salute.

Authors Note: I'm giving Shepard an eternal amount of ammunition and medical supplies is because he won't be able to acquire more in the Transformers Prime universe.
