Author Note/Very Important: Listen, this chapter I think came out okay. I've still been really sick but I wanted to get this chapter out there. This is the chapter in which we figure out what happened to the Jedi. Likewise, there is going to be on the bottom of this chapter after it is completed a more detailed explanation made by me of what happened. This chapter possibly because I am sick was okay...I have a lot of work to do for school so I had to either get this chapter out today or get it out later on. Still, I may or may not come back to work or remake this one later on. Still, thanks everyone for reading this note and chapter. Please remember to follow, favorite, and review. It greatly helps with my motivation in writing and making more chapters. Have a wonderful and awesome day!

Chapter 52

Ben's eyes snapped open. The rush of air slowly filtering within his system as he…his head snapped in numerous directions. He wasn't in the ancient caverns that housed the corpses of the Jedi of this world. Rather he was somewhere completely…different.

He rose from the floor. His fingers touching the strange texture of red carpet as his eyes began to adjust to his surroundings. He was in a large room. The room was comprised completely of stone…reminiscent of the Sith Academy but it felt completely different.

The Light Side of The Force…

He was taken aback by such a pleasant feeling. The wind rode along with force energy that filtered through his own body. The stone walls loomed but were covered over with rich tapestries. The emblem of the Jedi Order etched along them.

"What is this place…" Ben questioned to himself. Taking a quick glance around. He was in a room the size of a large classroom. An ornate rug was draped over the stone floors as a circular array of chairs surrounded him.

Morning light loomed through the windows as the chirping of birds and nature filtered through the room. This place was a nexus of pure light side energy. Yet, he didn't feel weaker. His powers lied within the dark side of the force, but this place didn't dissuade him or make him lose strength.

He took a deep breath as he…his eyes snapped open as he watched the figure. Instantly lurching backwards as he saw a man sitting in the middle chair.

He was an old man. Possibly in his fifties with a rich mane of flowing blond hair. He brandished a pair of heavy red Jedi robes and along his belt was a lightsaber blade. A freshly shaved face…yet there was a burn mark that slowly rode along the base of his chin and down the side of his throat.

The faint mark making him think of Zuko. The banished prince who made it a habit to try and capture Aang. Yet, they had not encountered or seen the young man ever since the siege of the north. 'Good riddance.' Ben thought.

Still, this wasn't the high council chamber on Coruscant meaning that…he was here. He was standing in the high council chamber of this worlds of Jedi Order. His eyes snapping open at the revelation as he looked upon this man.

He was witnessing history right now…looking upon the old order of Jedi Knights. Right before the Sith purged them from both the world and history. That place, that vortex of force energy sent him here for something.

The door burst open. Ben instantly tossing himself around as he looked upon two figures. One a medium sized older man. Dark grey hair and pale skin. Ben could detect the force within the two figures but…

His eyes widened at the robes the man was wearing. Identical robes. No, the same robes that Aunt Wu gifted him, the same ones that she hid in safe keeping until she gifted them to Benjamin. This man had to be him!

On each side carried two identical lightsaber blades. Faint scars and cuts lining along his face as he walked with a permanent scowl sunken in along his features. The woman as well. She was way smaller than him, petite as well but appeared to be of the same age.

Wearing a pair of heavy light green Jedi robes, a contrast towards her companion. She had short brown hair and tanned skin. Yet, it was around her waist that Ben saw it.

A lightsaber blade but not any Lightsaber blade…Haru's weapon. The one he inherited from his grandmother. He was back there, all the way before the Jedi order was destroyed. Now he was witnessing it.

They passed through him like he was a ghost. Snapping his head back as he began to watch the conversation unfold. "Lee…Rena." The old Jedi master spoke. The wear on his voice instantly alerting to Ben.

The voice didn't match a true master of the force. "Grandmaster Zane." Lee spoke. Wrapping his arms around himself as he zoned in on the prior grandmaster of the Jedi Order. Ben's throat hitched as he realized who he was just once looking at.

The Prior Grandmaster, the one who was meant to inspire awe and strength throughout the order. Yet, Ben couldn't detect that. Sure, looks could be deceiving but there was something else within his movements. Almost like tiredness…and simply exhaustion. Almost like the responsibility was too much of a burden for him to bear.

Lee clicked his lips. "We know that we both came late to the ceremony. But to willingly battle the Sith with all out forces…"

"It's insane!" Haru's grandmother…Rena spoke. Interjecting into the conversation as her dark amber eyes zoned in on the old grandmaster. His eyes still sunken to the floor aimlessly. "Ever since the prior wars our numbers have slowly decreased. Even now, these fire nation and Sith assassins have reduced us to the dozens. How does heading out into the middle of the desert change anything!"

'Middle of the desert?' Ben repeated within his head. His eyes snapping open at the realization. It wasn't an ambush or a surprise attack. The Jedi knew what they were getting into beforehand.

The grandmaster sighed. Slowly rising from his seat as he towered over the two Jedi Knights. His eyes not wavering but still holding a trace of sadness. "Roku is dead. I witnessed a vision of his best friend…his brother, murdering him." He slowly traced his hand outside of the window. Ben hardly able to see what he was pointing at. "Ever since his death these Sith have slowly risen once again. They fight differently than the ones before. The ones that sparked along the time of Exar Kun or when those ancient ones…the skyborn first appeared that not only sparked the Sith, but likewise our Jedi Order."

'Skyborn?' Ben tasted the words. Yet, his mind was taken back to his ship crash landing within that river. Is it possible that the Jedi of this world had hardly any knowledge of their true origins. Stating that another just like him remade the order within their image.

Yet, that would make sense in a way. He had found the long dead Sith Lord's Exar Kun and Syn's Holocron. It is very well possible that Exar appeared here due to his mingling with the arcane arts of Alchemy and learned how to transport himself here…that would explain why the Jedi Knights never found his body.

Likewise, if Syn and the ancient Jedi Exiles escaped after the fall of the Sith Empire. That means that they crashed here but one of them defected into the Jedi Order. Ben's eyes widened at the revelation. Crashed ships, old Jedi, and old Sith. Now it was all starting to make sense.

The Ancient Exiles…the first to turn to the dark side. They crashed upon this world, and they must've split in half. Meaning that one side became Jedi and the other Sith. That's why modern-day lightsabers still exist here. The parts he found in numerous Jedi caches were merely stripped and refurbished parts of electronics or metals from this world or his old galaxy.

Ben let out an uncontrolled sigh of relief. A question that he had been asking ever since he crash landed and built his lightsaber was just answered. It was a reasonable answer.

Lin approached, slowly shaking his head. "Yes, I know how hard it's been. It's been harder for us to make alliances with the other nations after the fall of that dark side cult. I've made my own sacrifices…" He spoke the words with laced regret. Aunt Wu's words slowly traveling along Ben's head. The words of how just like him…her grandfather held powerful ties to the dark side and even fell just like him. "But we can rebuild. We may be in the dozens right now, but we can find and train more force sensitives. If we do this…we may very well expel the destruction of our order and the world itself will fall to the Sith!"

Rena nodded along. Agreeing with her companion. Yet, the old grandmaster slowly shook his head. "Yes, I know. But I believe that the Sith here are a vital reason of why we are having trouble finding force sensitives." He gripped his head, the veins and sweat showing as his fingers clenched tighter along his skin. "There is a great darkness surrounding us. With the sinister nature of Roku's death, I believe that we may very well be going into another one of the dark wars, such as like the time of Kyoshi."

"Then that's another reason for why this plan is insane!" Lin snapped back. His breath heavy, but as he looked upon his friend.

Lin took a deep breath. His voice growing softer. "If we all go off and die who will come and protect the world. We number in the dozens now…Zane. We can't just throw our lives away to hope and believe that the Sith will honor this deal."

"Then what!" Zane's voice emerged, breaking through the pure clarity and sadness. Now replaced with anger and rage. Lin, Rena, and even Ben lurched back from the sudden rage that the Jedi Grandmaster displayed.

Ben could feel it, the way the force grew tighter. The way his power simply doubled…he realized how instantly wrong he was before thinking this was just a tired old man. "We don't have the numbers to confront this newer and younger generation of Sith. Or would you rather do what you did with the Cult of Exar Kun…lose yourself to the maddening hum of warfare and carnage, until even you become what you seek to destroy!"

His breath was heavy. His fingers were rolled into fist as the ground underneath them threatened to crack under the sheer magnitude the prior grandmaster of the order held within his grasp. Yet, he stopped…slowly combing through his hair as he slowly let out a heavy breath.

"I am…sorry." He apologized for the outburst. "For a grandmaster it was most unfitting of me to do. I thought such things were beneath me…something I've believed I learned how to control during my time as a Knight."

Lin slowly dropped his hand along his friend's shoulder. "It's okay, this has all been a difficult time for all of us. Trust me it's okay to get a little angry now and then. But to give into that emotion…to feed into it is something else completely."

"But you are correct…we are willingly walking down a dangerous path, that is why I am speaking to you privately right now. You two must not come with me and the rest of the Jedi. You two are both shadows and all your records have been cleansed…the Sith have no knowledge of your existence. When we fall you must still continue…"

Zane slowly nodded his head. Yet, that was when it happened. The ground underneath him began to break. Darkness slowly swarmed his vision as a horrific ticking sound engulfed his hearing. His eyes wavering under the pure darkness as everything began to change.

He awoke…his eyes quickly getting used to the darkness. Snapping open wide as he began to zone in on his surroundings. He was back in the cave. Yet, it was completely different.

The land and texture were completely different. Instead, there was a massive hole within the ceiling that etched with the blistering yellow light of the desert sun. The stone was paved and evened out, strange for a natural formed mountain.

Yet, that wasn't just it…as he turned around, he came face to face with Zane, the last of the Jedi Grandmasters. His aquamarine bladed lightsaber already ignited as he. No, as with dozens of Jedi Knights, masters, and other classes loomed in the surrounding areas.

There lightsabers all an assortment of colors already armed and ready to deal with the Sith that would come. The guarded the cavern entrances…the last of the Jedi, an army of light assembled to repel the Sith.

Ben snapped his head to attention as he saw the dozen figures. Joined hand in hand. Dark figures brandishing heavy cowls that draped over their heads. Zane's lightsaber hummed within the air. His eyes simmering towards them as he lurched within his connection to the force not feeling any more enemies around.

"Lies!" He snapped. Outstretching and aiming his lightsaber towards the middle Sith. "Do you honestly expect me to believe that the Sith simply number such a low amount!"

The middle Sith laughed. Letting go of his companions as his ghostly laugh sent a shiver down the Jedi's even Ben's spine. The hair shooting along their skin as almost as electricity poured within the force itself.

He tossed off his hood…red eyes. Sunken in crimson eyes afflicted with the dark side of the force. Faint red tattoos covering over his face with a freshly shaved head as he thrown off a ghostly white smile.

"Foolish Jedi…"

He spoke the single words. Yet, Ben was still confused. He could feel the power of the dark side of the force that all three of them generated. Sure, they were strong and most likely were on the same level as Sith Lords.

Yet, there were dozens possibly nearly a hundred of Jedi Knights within this room. Sure, they were strong, but they didn't have the numbers to repel such a force.

That was when it happened. Almost like the striking of a flame…or watching the purple array of lightning crack along the sky in a piercing torrent of power. It happened…

"We are one. We are the dark side. The dark side is us. Feel the power of the dark side. Surrender to it. Surrender to the unified whole…"

Ben felt the power of the dark side whirl out of control. Whirling in such danger that he doubted that the Sith trio could control it. Their eyes wavering and darkening as their control over the force lessened after each chant. Zane's throat hitched, as he felt it. Him and the other Jedi planning on reinforcing their force barrier or even possibly combining there strength together but it would all be for naught.

The air bickered with the cracking red lines of dark side energy. Swarming and consuming everything within the vortex as the force whirled out of control. The stone underneath their feet began to crack and break, mountains of rock began to shape and contort as boulders rained like raindrops.

The screams of the Jedi filtered the air as their pain and fresh fear simply filled the Dark Side of the force within the Sith Lords. The spell and chanting only growing louder as their fevered words filled the air.

The air ran thick with minerals and blood. Thickening to the point in which Ben could hardly hear the chanting. His senses slowly being overridden as he was forced to take a knee as he felt his vision slowly darken once again. Then it happened…

"Let us become one!"

With a fevered and maniacal furry the final words were spoken. A powerful shockwave imploded from the base of which the Sith Lords were standing. There horrific laughter's echoing through the caverns as Ben realized that they went insane within the Arcane Spell…they lost themselves within the euphoric energy of the Dark Side.

He watched as their eyes illuminated for a split second radiating a deeper crimson. Then, nothing. A powerful grey swirling explosion filled where they were once standing. Rippling through the Sith Lords as they were consumed by their very own weapon. Yet, Ben figured that they already knew that such an ending was determined for them.

The powerful vortex, the explosion carried towards them with a rapid speed. Swarming the Jedi that had survived the rocks and boulders that crashed alongside them. Ben watched upon a Jedi as he dropped his lightsaber. Shielding his eyes as the grey vortex carried within him, slinking into the base of his body.

It slinked within him…tethering itself as he was gone. Evaporating, dissolving, liquifying. Slinking inside of them as the only thing that remained was a stone statue with the encased shred of robes…there lightsabers dropping with a rhythmic clang.

Ben threw his gaze around towards the old grandmaster. Worried…fearful even knowing how this was going to end Ben still held a shred of hope.

Grandmaster Zane, a middle-aged man with a powerful connection to the force. One who merely decided to sacrifice himself knowing full well that there was no other option. He did this because he thought there was no other option and even willingly went to his death…yet he kept his friends alive. The last of the Jedi safe to hopefully save the order.

Ben rushed towards him. Anger, fear…and guilt ate him up from the inside. How many times has he held such anti jedi prejudice? How many times has he yelled at his master or his friends about what it took to be a Jedi?

He was wrong about them all…there cause was noble, and the Jedi were not inherently wrong as he once believed. There cause was just and sure they made mistakes but he of all people should not judge them.

Before he believed that on this world that the Jedi council probably let the Airbendors go extinct. Yet, that was the furthest from the truth. They fought desperately for this world and even sacrificed themselves…and in the end they were rewarded with being forgotten.

He raced towards the old grandmaster. Completely forgetting that this was a complete vision. The old grandmaster slowly unignited his weapon. Slowly taking a deep breath as the boulders rained around side him, as the screams of his Jedi brethren were instantly silenced.

His eyes slightly narrowed as he…

They widened. Almost like he could see Ben coming towards him…but that was completely wrong. How was that possible? They should've been a galaxy and a century away from one another, but it was almost like he recognized his presence.

Zane, his throat hitching as he witnessed his comrades die around him…as he felt something coming towards him. Not the explosion but something else. He could see it, like the fading in of a flickering light bulb.

Yet, it lacked the flicker. The boy radiated with extreme power within the force…the strongest he had ever felt before. Then he saw it. Right before the explosion rocked him and sucked out all the life from him, he saw it.

As the Death of the Jedi Order was imminent, he saw it through his mind's eye. A blistering but powerful feeling coursing through his vision.

He saw him…Ben draped over with heavy blackened Jedi robes. His long hair tied into a rudimentary bun as he casted his right arm to reveal a Jedi Holocron. On the other he slowly ushered people to come closer to heed the lessons within the crystal matrix.

Men and woman, all different ages…and all wearing different clothes from their respective nations. All holding a powerful connection to the force. The Next Generation of Jedi.

Zane began to weep…he had thought he had failed, that his sacrifice would expel the death of this world. So consumed by emotions that he fell to his knees as Ben stopped walking, slowing down as he was in front of the man.

Then it happened. Zane slowly raising his head to meet Ben's own gaze. A knowing smile displayed over his face. In this place in which the past and future were being mingled within the great strangeness of the force. In which the lives of Jedi were being culled the grandmaster wept.

A knowing smile displayed onto his face as Ben watched confused. Yet, that knowing smile sparked a million words. "Thank you, Benjamin."

With those parting words the old grandmaster closed his eyes. Thinking back to those numerous faces and the boy he just witnessed because…

Within the Outcast…The Jedi Shall Truly Return

He was turned into stone…the eternal smile plastered across his face as Ben was forced to watch as the Jedi…his brethren. They were slaughtered by the Sith. Slowly slumping to his knees as he was forced to witness once again another Jedi purge. His eyes in a haze as once again everything began to fade to black.

Ben had finished explaining to team Avatar what he had just witnessed within the caverns. Even leading them towards the canyon edge to see the mass graveyard. The last stand of the Jedi Order. Put to death by a strange weapon that they hardly knew.

Still, it was hard…Ben staring once again at the pulsating grey orb which hummed with the lost spirits of the Jedi and The Sith. His eyes slowly closing as he took in the powerful surge of force energy within the environment.

Yet, every time he has been closing his eyes…a brief reminder of the old grandmaster would soar through the base of his minds eye. Forcing him to gaze upon that mans knowing smile and strange glare. Almost like he was able to detect his presence. Yet, he even spoke his name.

In this place cut off between past and present it was possible that the old grandmaster received a force vision of his arrival here and was just speaking. Still, it wouldn't leave him. Letting out a frustrated groan as he began to walk towards the area.

Stopping in front of one of the kneeling statues. The grandmasters statue was nearly destroyed. Both of his arms were broken off by the nubs due to the years' worth of moving tectonic plates. Still, he held that child like smile that glistened over his face, still peering at Ben's face almost like he once did over a century ago.

His heart throbbed, almost like a knife was pushed through the base of it as he could hear the rummaging of team avatar follow behind him. "This is him, the prior grandmaster."

They surrounded him nearly instantly. There eyes trekking along his features as Ben took a knee. Offering a sense of solidarity as he grabbed the old mans lightsaber. Pushing past the layers of molted steel and rubble.

"They sacrificed themselves…" Ty Lee aimlessly spoke. Her eyes traveling all throughout each stone statue. Wondering if she could willingly do that if she held the courage to do such a thing.

Yet, she felt someone surprising…Jet. His hand going towards her shoulder. Slightly nodding as with the force, he could read what she was thinking. A silent companionship that both apprentices were not sure if they held such bravery.

Aang looked upon his face. Slowly taking a deep breath. This was the same grandmaster Aang had met all those years ago. He was dead now…sacrificed to try and stop the Sith but in the end his attempts proved fruitless.

"I'm sorry it took me so long to come here." Aang slowly murmured. His hand going towards the statue but frozen. He didn't know what else to say or do.

Yet, Ben rose. In his hand was a lightsaber focusing crystal of the prior grandmaster. The rich blueish green gem pulsated with powerful force energy. Almost like it called out for Ben to take.

Ben took out his own lightsaber blade. Using the force to remove the covering for his own lightsaber focusing crystal. Stripping his synthetic for the natural forming one he had taken from the prior grandmasters own. Later he would meditate with it to closer attune it to himself.

He didn't know why it called to him…but he wanted a part of that grandmaster by his side. A part that would give him the courage and bravery to protect this world against the forces of evil, just like how they did with their noble act. How all the Jedi did…

Ben ignited the weapon…a complete contrast to the dark malevolent blue synthetic. The naturally forming crystal was a lighter and more aquamarine, following a closer resemblance to its prior master. The natural crystal filling him with a strange lightness to the weapon that wasn't there before.

Now they were there…the last of the Jedi. Ben unignited the weapon giving a quick look back as him and team avatar would continue their journey. It has been a long day and many questions had been answered.

Detailed Explanation

Basically a long time ago in the world of Avatar. The Ancient Sith/Sith Exiles crashed upon the world. Basically planning on creating another Sith Empire due to the fact they were marooned forever. Many of there Dark Jedi armies and some Lords have grown disillusioned with the idea of being Sith and desired to become Jedi again. Having a Jedi Civil War in which the newly redeemed Sith turned Jedi (aided by the avatar) were able to win.

Years pass and more ships crash (Never any survivors). The Jedi take everything from these ships to strip for parts and equipment and keep the nature of people from the skies a secret to the known public. The Original Sith and Jedi all die and there descendants basically are the next Jedi Order. Years pass and there are very little Dark jedi uprisings until Exar Kun appeared very recently. After appearing in the world after teleporting during the battle of Yavin he wishes to build another empire. Exar corrupts a ton of Jedi and basically brings them over to the Sith's side. Lin, Wu's grandfather takes the fight to Exar.

During one of his battles he falls to the dark side but is optimality redeemed. Exar is defeated but Lin suffers from trauma due to both the war and falling to the dark side. Years pass and anti Jedi resentment bloom after the death of the avatar and the war of Exar. The Sith in hiding conduct assination tactics and Alchemy to make the Jedi weaker and make it harder for them to detect future force sensitives.

The Jedi range in the dozens. Grandmaster Zane is contacted by the Sith and them lying about not wanting another big war that would surely destroy them hope for a private Jedi vs Jedi battle that would end the conflict both swiftly and easily. If Zane rejects it would become another battle of attrition that would surely spell destruction within the Jedi Order either from the inside or outside forces, and possibly the world. Zane knowing that this is basically mutually assured destruction decides to sacrifice himself in hope that the Sith may be telling the truth. But he warns Lin and Rena and they basically sit out.

The Sith use an ancient weapon. "The Thought Bomb" Which wipes out all the Jedi who were on there last legs. Meaning that the Sith had free reign, Lin and Rena can not fight due to numerous other affairs. Both are very old and have families that if they are discovered will be in severe trouble. Both Jedi die with intense regrets about the death of the Jedi Order, until Ben comes and becomes the True Last Jedi.
