Chapter 65

All sides within Ben's mind's eye were clouded with a deep fog. He could see her…a deep grey haze was draped over his gaze.

He could see it, he could hear it, and he could feel her life…and her emotions. Fear, it generated along her features.

Her sweat doused features. Her braid knocked out of its loop as a spray of brown hair plastered along her face. The cloak he had gifted her flared like a cape. The young Jedi Apprentice leaped, dodged, and evaded the bending might that was thrown at her.

All Ben could do was just watch. Linger within this waking dream as he stirred deeply within his mediation as he could see the surroundings.

He could recognize the regal flooring of the Earth Kingdom throne room. But it was strange. Fog surrounded his vison along his minds eye. Not allowing him to see the figures that were attacking Ty Lee, to see the blur of bending might as fireballs were thrown towards her.

He watched as Katara bended her water. The water whip, her signature weapon slinging towards the enemies as Ben could see it, the terror along her face. The ever-growing realization that they were both outgunned and outclassed.

Ben watched as Katara's frame was consumed by lightning. Being thrown across the room as her body writhed on the ground from the statics that warped along her body. But the shallow rise of her breath was a signal to her status.

But Ben could tell…that wasn't normal force lightning, that was something else. Faintly being reminded of…

The first time he had met Arya and Rowan after all those years streamed along his eye. Thinking back to the girl that came with them. The Fire Nation Royal, Princess Azula.

He watched as Ty Lee whirled around a fire blast but was quickly discombobulated. The Lightsaber blade dropping from her fingertips as the amethyst blade was once again swallowed back into the hilt. He could see it.

The trio of figures approach. They were wrong…even for the short period of time they were gone, the Earth King had failed. This mission of introspection, self-discovery, and reunions was all for nothing. And now the apprentices, Team Avatar, and Ba Sing Sai were at risk.

Shan, Rowan, and Azula…they stopped over Ty Lee and Katara's bodies. Still trembling as the pair were each knocked unconscious. A spike of fear etched along Ben's chest that silenced his breathing. Arya raising the crimson blade to finish the final blow over Ty Lee, only to be stopped by Azula herself.

With a shaking of her head and with few quips being exchanged. The vision ended. "No…" He had whispered, feeling the edge of his mind strained and contorted. Feeling the pull course through him as he struggled to find more information. But he was rewarded with nothing.

He shot straight up from the ground. The cold air of the canyon came full first underneath the pale moonlight. His features bathed within its grace as he rose steadily from his seat. His eyes trembling, fearful, as he rose from the ground.

His lips parting a faint couple of words that could hardly be heard. "Ty Lee…"

The groan of Appa rose along the empty morning streets of Ba Sing Sai. Sleeping through the group meeting as the rest of the gang were already inside.

Ben, Sokka, and Aang were at the table. Sitting crouched around it as their hands were around their heads, the fear and anxiety swiftly mulling over and contorting them.

There was a hesitance within the air. All three of them had set out for greater recollections and understandings of this world. Sokka to see his father, Aang to learn from the monk, and Ben's confrontation to end the spirit of Exar Kun.

Yet, they were naïve and foolish. Believing that the Earth King would be able to establish defenses, cut off tunnels, and even potentially hold off the Sith long enough for these moments of clarity and insight, but it was all for nothing.

Ben's fingers combed through his locks of black hair. His eyes ingrained into the table as his breath rose, and heart rapidly thumped against his chest. Ty Lee and Katara were captured somewhere, and they didn't know where they were.

He thought back to Arya and Rowan…to those he once called friends, to those that murdered his brother and best friend. Ben bit his lip as his eyes narrowed. Bright flashes of light illuminated within his vision as a simmering heat of red trailed through his body.

Revenge, it carried within his movements. He had let them live…given them a chance to renounce the dark side, but they kept coming.

He thought back to the Sith Academy, the day in which he had demobilized them and let them live. It was a mistake, they held no wish for redemption, there only wish was for the destruction of the Avatar and the Last of The Jedi.

He thought back to Jet, of his body as he died within his arms. He could hear the mechanical servos of his arm extend, the fierce pain of what the Sith had done to him slowly reregistering within his mind. But…

He took a deep breath, slowly shaking his head as he felt the pains of anger slowly lose their weight on him. 'Without hate, without anger. We take what is given and we do what we must.'

Not for revenge, he would not spoil Jet's death and sacrifice to save Katara with his lust for retribution. He turned towards the other pair of boys. He could feel the turbulations and tribulations they were going through right now.

It was Katara that pushed him to be reunited with there father, and Aang's feelings for Katara were not unknown…they were all worried about them.

Likewise…

"Toph," Ben spoke the name as the pair of boys drew towards him. "Where is she?"

Sokka rose his gaze. "Remember about her parents. The letter?"

Aang's eyes widened. Latching onto Sokka's own. "Do you think that was another trap, that Toph is…"

Ben shook his head. "We don't know, Aang," He answered. "But I do know that Toph is an earth bending master. Whatever threats she faces I know that she'll be fine."

He made his way towards the window of the door. Taking in the fresh lights and cool air of the walled city of Ba Sing Sai. Unknown to the citizens going about their day. The members of the fire nation and Sith Acolytes have made there way into there great walled city. Capturing their friends and most likely were planning a coup.

Ben felt his features tighten as his hands went to his forehead. His heart rapidly beating as he felt it thump along his chest. Too much to do, to much to fear, to much to worry about. The growing threats had increased, and they were confused.

But Ben just felt a horrible tiredness that spread all throughout his form. He felt the soreness of his muscles and the way his body tensed underneath the great stress and strain.

The fighting, the blood, the death…the loss. He closed his eyes as he tried to slink into a Jedi meditation to ease his nerves. But he could only feel the ebbing of stress slowly eat into him.

But he slowly turned his gaze to them. To those flashing lights, those illuminations…those sparks that kept him tethered. Aang and Sokka were still here, Ty Lee and Katara were still alive, and Toph was strong, and he knew she'd be fine.

Haru was away fighting the good fight and Thomas was possibly in the fire nation converting acolytes to the light. There was hope within this world, and that was the reason why they had fought…the reason Jet had sacrificed himself for.

Ben felt determination swarm him as he walked back to his friends. His hands going to each other's shoulders as they looked upon him.

"Come one, it's time to go and find them."

The pair each nodded. Rising out of there seats as Sokka was the first to speak. "But how?" He questioned. "Without Toph's ability to sense within the Earth we can…"

But then the door creaked open. The boys snapping there eyes towards the direction as fear shot through there bodies.

Sokka gripped his boomerang, Aang dragged his staff back into his hands with a Wisk of air bending, and Ben's fingers looped along his lightsaber.

All three of them stared at an old man, Iroh. The man that once fought side by side with Darth Fowl, the man that laid siege to this once great city.

"I may have a solution to that…"

His old voice rung within there ears. There muscles untightening but their guards still fixated up. Unknown to them, miles underground there were great things happening. Moments and tribulations that were shaping not only the present, but of the future as well.

Ty Lee was within the secret underground caverns of the Earth Kingdom palace. Her lightsaber had been stripped off from her waist and now she was sitting alone. Her back rested against the uncomfortable jagged shards of greenish rock and crystal, but it was the chill.

Not the chill of being underground, but the growing chill that had slowly ensnared her heart. Her hands wrapped around her knees as she dug them deeper into her chest.

Fear…Azula, she was here. That girl, that friend. No, she slowly shook her head as the word's friends and Azula were connected. She was never her friend, she was sure that Azula never liked her…or truly seen her for what she truly was, a person.

She could remember the bullying, the physical attacks, and the mind games she would play. Mai, she had an experience with it, but she…

Ty Lee's head went into her knees. Feeling the bite of tears but she quickly fought against it to hold them back. No use, no point. Against those two dark Jedi, against Azula, against Mai she had fell underneath there might.

'Was it all wrong…was I merely deluding myself about my own strength?'

The thoughts caused her to nearly hurl. Her hands growing tighter around herself as she felt so small, smaller than Azula or her family had ever made her feel. She had learned the truth of her powers, of what she could become, but in the end, she lost that battle.

She heard the shuttering of doors open, hearing the whirling of them part as she raised her glance to see the person. She was expecting Arya or Azula, or worse, both. But no, it was someone else…

She kneeled to take a knee in front of Ty Lee. Her dark black hair going down to her chest as the reddish of fire nation robes trickle down to the floor.

"Mai…" She hesitantly called her name.

Yet, she was not of rage or disappointment. Rather, the usually uncaring girl's arms latched around Ty Lee's own body. Pulling her into an embrace as she gripped her friend tighter.

"Ty Lee…" She hummed her friend's name. Taking a deep breath as Ty Lee felt the ebbing of anxiety, dull even just for a short while.

Mai separated from her. "Ty Lee, do you not know what has happened, the stakes of what you did."

Ty Lee averted her gaze. Slowly nodding her head up and down with the words. "I know what I did. I aided the avatar, and now I walk the path of the Jedi."

Mai's eyes widened at the words. Shockingly, even though she had witnessed what Ty Lee was capable of during there capture, but she was still taken aback by it.

But Mai slowly shook her head. Her fingers looping around Ty Lee's shoulder as the girl rose her face back to her friend.

"Listen, Ty Lee. We can get you out of this…maybe you can try and convince Azula that…"

But Ty Lee slowly shook her head. "Get me out of this?" She repeated. Anger, swarmed throughout her features as she narrowed her eyes at Mai. "My family is dead!" She snapped. Pushing her friends hand off her. "The Sith, Lord Ruin ordered them to all be executed. My father, my sisters…"

There was an inkling of pain and sadness as tears escaped, but she just as quickly snapped her eyes open and shook them out.

Mai hesitated, her eyes going to the floor. "I'm sorry, Ty Lee," She spoke. "I really am, but you have to understand how bad of a situation this is."

Mai hesitated, extending out her arms as she hesitantly reached out for Ty Lee, but stopped. "The Fire Nation has made an alliance with the Dynasty of The Sith. Legions of soldiers, Dark Jedi, and machinery are going to descend onto the nations," She paused. "Please, Ty Lee. Do not die for this…for an order that has died out years ago."

Ty Lee didn't speak, only turned her head away. "We aren't dead. Ben is a Jedi, and within him and me…the Jedi still live."

Mai's features contorted into one of anger. "Benjamin, the Last of The Jedi?" She snapped. "The boy is going to get you killed. Don't you realize that!"

Ty Lee whirled her head back towards her friend. "Do you take me as that much of a fool. I know how bad this is, but what more of a choice do we got!" Ty Lee shot onto her feet. Her eyes like heat rays that sunk into Mai's features. "The Fire Nation and the Sith have killed thousands, laid sieges to villages, and who knows what else they have done. They need to be stopped, and if not us than whom!"

Mai saw the anger, so uncommon and strange to be decorated along Ty Lee's features. The once happy and cheerful girl, once bounded in nativity and being an airhead. That day, Mai saw a glimmer of what Ty Lee could become.

A great and shining warrior of the force.

But Mai slowly shook her head. Rising as well to meet her friend's gaze. "Azula, she may be able to forgive you," Mai hesitated. Her hands wrapping around herself as her eyes went towards the floor. "She cares about you…in her own way."

A laugh, a strange, forced chuckle filled Mai's ears. "Don't give me that," Ty Lee cut her off. "Azula, she only has ever cared about herself. The rest of us has always came after that…we were always less than her."

Mai knew such things, but that was not the point right now. "You know what's going to happen to you after this?" Mai questioned, but Ty Lee only turned away. "Treason, conspiration, and who knows what else!"

Mai took a deep breath. "Please, Ty Lee. Azula will come soon…I need you to beg for her forgiveness. Maybe, she'll even return your families nobility…"

"It's not about that!"

"I know…" Mai spoke slowly. "I know," She repeated.

Taking a deep breath, she rested along the wall. "Please, Ty Lee. Your so young and you have your whole life to live for. What is the point of all this!"

But Ty Lee only stared at the wall.

Mai's lips tightened; her teeth gnashed like a rabid dog. "You're my friend Ty Lee, and you are going to throw away your life for this!"

She slammed her hand along the cave wall. "I know what they did was wrong, it was borderline evil!" She snapped. "But what can we do, Ty Lee. What can we do?"

Mai rested along the wall. Slowly turning her head back to the door. Walking towards it but stopping right before she left.

"Don't do this, Ty Lee. Please, when Azula comes beg for forgiveness…your very charismatic and just find something to say," She turned back to her a final time, and this time Ty Lee met her gaze. The usual stoic and uncaring Mai were now crying. "That Sith Woman wants you dead, and I've heard Azula joke about letting her kill you. Please, just please…abandon these Jedi delusions and this boy, come back home."

Ty Lee stared at her for a minute. Both not speaking another word to the other. There eyes looping along the other as Ty Lee was the one to sigh.

"He's not just a boy. Mai, he's different than anyone I've ever met or seen before," Ty Lee said.

Mai watching her. Curious inkling along her features. "Like a man. But more than that, and I do not have the words. He shows kindness, bravery, and honor. He fights for the innocent, for the weak, and he desires to do good. Whatever Ben has done, I love him. He is finding his way. He is accepted me while others would've left me, he shown me strength, he shown me what love…true love truly is. He is becoming a Grandmaster in truth, and as well as name."

Her smirk began to inch along her features. Even deep within this crystal prison. In one of her darkest hours of despair, she thought about all their adventures and tribulations. The acts of sacrifice, friendship, and of love. Those acts she took from, and they gave her strength.

"I am his wife, and he is my husband. I am Ty Lee Wilum, and I am a Jedi."

Mai hesitated as the words reached her ears. Her fingertips raised to reach out to Ty Lee a final time, but she slowly shook her head. Already knowing what was going to come.

She left and now…Ty Lee was alone. Holding onto memories that she believed would give her strength in her darkest hour, but in reality…it made her feel worse.

Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Haru…Ben. She curled back into her ball and all her holding back caused her to burst into tears.

The times in the past, the times in the future. They were gone now, and most likely she was going to die down here. Her breath grew rasped, a choking sob filled the room as she struggled to grasp a state of calmness, but she could not find anything.

Only, after a couple of minutes she felt something. Like a chill, but a good chill that rode along her body. It filled her with clarity and attentiveness. Wiping out the prior strands of anxiety as the strange feeling began to leave her body.

"What…"

She slowly wiped the tears from her eyes as she looked up. Seeing the blue after image of…

"Jet?"

She called out the name, but she knew who it was…taken aback by the specter of her Jedi peer as she stared upon him.

He bore different clothing than the ones he always wore. The rugged and worn freedom fighter armor he always brandished was now gone and replaced with the robes, The Jedi Adventure Robes that were meant to be gifted to him, instead, he bore them now in his spirit.

Both lightsabers, Celeste and his own hung along his belt, but they were faded, and she was hardly able to see them.

"Hey Ty Lee," Jet spoke with a smile. "What's going on?"

Ty Lee stared at him for another second. "Jet…" She repeated.

"Yeah, Ty Lee. Don't cry."

Ty Lee quickly went to clean the tears from her cheeks. Using the end of the clock to wipe off the sniffles. "I'm fine, Jet…"

"No, your not," He interrupted. He inched closer to her, his eyes going along her own as he spoke to her. Feeling every word fill her with warmth, conviction, and courage. "I can see you, Ty Lee. I'm with you, I've been with you this whole time."

Ty Lee's hands went to her head. "But how are you here…you died, we burned your body and…"

Jet slowly shook his head. "Celeste was there as I died. The spirit world of this world is far stronger than anything in Ben's galaxy, I was able to be taught to become a Spector, a light side spirit," Jet paused. His hand going to his head. "But I feel so tired, Ty Lee. I'm awake, but also asleep, it's like a vivid waking dream. I want to go back, but I know I am needed here, that you need me here…"

Jet nodded with his own words. "I am not going to leave you here in your misery. I am not going to leave a fellow Jedi behind, that was Ben's way. He may have fought against the Mandalorians in pursuit of revenge. But he did it to not only protect the innocent, but to fight with those Jedi peers, so they wouldn't be alone."

Ty Lee's eyes went to her feet. Despair, slowly working along her frame. Slouching her back as tears threatened to bite her back again. "We'll be together soon…"

Jet's features contorted into one of anger. Snarling as he stared at her. "No," He snapped with a low growl. "No, you are not going to die here. Not within these shitty caverns…not alone, I died down in similar circumstances. But I had my family with me, you are not going out here."

Ty Lee thrashed. "What am I meant to do, Jet!" She snapped. "I don't have your training and I don't have Ben's ability to control the force. I may be powerful, but I lack control!"

"Then gain control!" Jet cut her off.

Ty lee turned away. Her hands going to the sides of her head as she began to pace around the room. "You don't understand. Arya, Rowan, and Azula had bested me so many times…the only reason I am alive is because they still have a use for me. There is no way out!"

Jet shook his head walking towards Ty Lee as the girl stopped in front of him, cutting her off as his finger went towards her face. "Ty Lee, there is a day. A day in which you must learn to stand up for yourself. That day to fight against your bullies, the day to fight against your enemies, the day in which you truly are a Jedi. Arya believes that killing you is her day, that it will give her what she wants."

Ty Lee didn't make any movements. Only speaking. "That day…when that day comes to do that. I'll be ready."

"When that day comes?" Jet repeated. Inching closer to Ty Lee. "That day is today. Right now, when you are free. You must stand up for yourself, take the fight to them and do what you must. Screw Arya and Azula, your stronger than them…I know it, Ty Lee!"

"You couldn't even take them!" She yelled back.

Jet only stared at her. "Because I was alone. Because I believed that it was the best choice…but you are being aided with our whole family. You cannot lose!"

Ty lee hunched over rose her gaze to Jet.

"Ty Lee, I am sorry…"

The words caused Ty Lee to be stunned. Her gaze affixed to Jet. "I was wrong, so wrong. I was angry at the fire nation for the death of my parents, I was angry at the Sith for the death of my Freedom Fighters. But I was so mean to you when you came. Instead of being a friend, a peer, another ally…I treated you like dirt."

He squinted as she turned towards him.

"It's okay, Jet," Ty Lee answered back. "I forgive you; I never held no ill will towards you or anything like that. You were walking your own path, and I am glad that you have made peace."

But Ty Lee was not finished yet. The young woman staring at Jet as he was…

"I heard what you said to Ben. That his son…that our son would be the Sword of The Jedi," Ty Lee spoke. Inching closer to Jet as he stared at her. "I want you to tell me about him…"

Jet stared at her. Slowly kicking himself as he whirled towards her. "Ty Lee, I understand what visons are like. What Ben was trying to tell me," He took a deep breath as he paused. "Maybe, what I saw was not true, maybe it was true or full of half-truths…or just a mixture of force energy. Maybe, it's for the best that you don't know."

Ty Lee slowly shook her head. "If you tell me of him, maybe, it will help me."

Jet stared at her. Knowing what she was trying to do as he sighed. "Being here tires me greatly, Ty Lee. It makes me feel so sleepy, and I want to go back to that place, I want to see them again…"

Ty Lee's breath hitched, only for Jet to slowly shake his head. "Fine," He spoke. "He's slightly shorter than Ben. Possibly between 6'2 and 6'5. He has light olive skin, like Ben's, and even has his dark hair. But it's more wavy and straighter like yours…and he has these warm grey eyes of your own."

Ty lee inched closer. Trying to pierce him together but feeling a strange ebbing within the back of her head…her minds eye dragging her back to the jungle, to that Jedi that she would meet. Was that him, was that her Isaac?

She took a step forward. "What's he like, Jet?"

Jet took a deep breath. "You trust him. Looking upon him there is a strength…a great strength that he carries with him everywhere. But that's not just it. Arrogance, cockiness, pride…but he shall grow to be one of the greatest there ever was,"

His eyes narrowed with a steel like stare that caused Ty Lee to stifle and back away. "His control of the force is something that I've never seen or felt before. He makes men like Benjamin, Ruin, and even ancient Sith Lords like Murr look weak in raw force power in comparison. Revan, Ulic, Exar…and the ones in the future, the ones that will come. Skywalker, Duron, Sunrider, Shan…your son will be the strongest force sensitive in galactic history. A figure who's control of the force at its peak will rival the greatest."

"He will stumble, he will fall, he will regret…and he will grieve. He is a man and he is not perfect, he will have his tribulations and challenges. But your son will have the heart of the leader and of the Jedi. Willing to fight and die for those he loves and those that need to be saved,"

Jet's words stirred her. The next words causing a mix of emotions to swarm her being. "I would die for Isaac Wilum."

Ty Lee nearly fell to her knees. Jet's form vanishing as he stared at her. "The way is harsh, it is rough, but you are Ty Lee Wilum and I've seen your future. You walk the path of the light, but never forget the words Exar spoke to you."

With those parting words Jet vanished, and Ty Lee sat on the floor. Her body felt sapped of energy. Her eyes widening as she stared at where Jet once stood. Now, things were changing. Team Avatar moving towards there position as Dark Forces seek to consume them.

Now, they were at the crossroads of destiny.
